  • Remote work is the next big trend in the corporate and engineering world. After a few years of it, employees are hooked and even chemical engineers are getting in on the action. Can chemical engineers work from home? What chemical engineering roles are remote? How do you find remote work jobs as an engineer? What is the best way to be competitive for remote work jobs as a chemical engineer? I'll try my best to answer all these questions in this video and will probably expand on some of them further in future videos, let me know in the comments what else you'd like to hear about!

Really good video eggs! I was waiting for you to mention the point at 03:00 because I totally agree; maybe at the starting point of a grad’s career, doing more in person work would be beneficial for them as it will give networking and promotion opportunities 😅 10/10

I have been remote for 15 years -- working as a Product Manager. I agree need to have the baseline experience first (10 years in factory) and I had that before transition to remote due to job change, but needed the experience to get PM job.

Oh man, I think remote work is going to become more and more common and many of the hurdles you mentioned will be greatly diminished. Many of the hurdles are from people perceiving remote work as unable to do _____ and I think people will find you can do much more than a lot of older/old-school-thinking people think at the moment. I'm glad you didn't talk about the bullshit reason I hear all the time, that "remote employees are just less efficient and get less done." Fuck that. I'm about x2 more effective working remotely on the days when I work from home at my current EPC Process Engineer job. I could easily do my job fully remote and travel very occasionally (1 week/year) to client sites, and I know that especially because 1/3 of the team I am on is fully remote already. Yeah......I can't wait for the culture to shift and companies to realize remote work is awesome for them to save money and for the employees.

Hi eggs! I graduated as a chem e last year and have still struggled to find a job, I don’t really know what to do as I have just been applying on multiple job sites. Is there any tips you recommend to finding entry level jobs now post lockdown

This is hindsight for me, but I would have applied for a lab tech(contractor) position right after graduating, gotten foot in the door and then either tried to become a supervisor within this plant on the floor, stayed in the lab, or applied for engineering roles. You probably have a chance of going to supervisor doing a good job and then launching to an engineer role. The point being you'll probably need to take a low paying lab tech role, to then have a chance at an okay salary as a supervisor gain experience and then launch to engineering. At all points you can and should be applying for roles that you want, but you are doing this to gain experience while you are chasing your real dream jobs...

Hi! Im a grade 12 student who applied for chemistry programs but Im now wondering if I should have chosen chem eng. I love chemistry but dislike all other subjects. So my question is: Is there enough chemical engineering for it to be worth it?

Hi, Eggs. I'm a chemical engineering student at Buenos Aires University, and I'd like to know if you accept to be interviewed. It is for a college homework I was assigned that consists in a short survey about being a chemical engineer.
Tell me if you're interested and I'll talk to you through the mail addressed in your channel! Thanks!
