Would table reads like this have been done before any of the episodes were filmed, or would they have been done week by week as the show filmed (assuming that it filmed weekly)? I wonder if the actors involved had already recorded some shows and seen the results and understood the visuals of the show at the time they were doing these reads, or if these reads were all done without them having established any real active sense of their characters yet.
Table reads have always been the standard. They are used for the actors to get a feel for their lines, for the writers to rewrite some scenes, among other reasons. I don’t have specific information about the show but they normally do them as an episode was being filmed, table read on monday, dress rehearsal on tuesday and then filming (or something like that)
