What a talented instructor you are! I happened upon your video, and you've inspired me to take up the harmonica, and watch your videos to learn how to play it. I can't wait to experience the joy. Thank you.
Great lesson Tomlin - just what I needed. I thought learning to play would be easy - it's not (for me anyway 😂) but now I realise it will take time. Every beginner problem you have mentioned applies to me but I'm going to give it a go and do this every day for a month. I just need to accept to learn to walk (or crawl in my case) before I try running 👍
I leant this by accident while playing guitar and harp, nice to see the true technical break down and the articulation of the sound. I only have a chromatic and A/e²nd until my special C arrives next week then I'm on this. It's too hard on an A harp practicing technique like this and you can play along
I was thinking about trying to learn blues harp again, my dear friend and actual neighbour picked you up in his cab in Edinburgh the other day. I better give it a go, I lost my harps in a fire. I’m playing guitar in d and g mostly, what harps do I need? Quite the coincidence I thought. Kind regards Chris
Love your videos! They encourage me in thinking that one day I may be able to play despite my senior learning curve :) I have question for anyone affiliated with the school, or any veteran subscribers. Today I received a Hohner Special 20, C major ($50). The harmonica I have to compare it to is a Fender Blues Deluxe ($16). So far the blow sounds are the same. But the edges on the front end of the Hohner do not seem to be finished well. I feels like I could rip my lip if I’m not careful. Question: is this just how they are, or should I bother to return it for another? Any input appreciated!
You can definitely practice other stuff but if you only have time to do one thing this is the one thing to do. If you have more time check out my FREE 4 Week Blues Harmonica Foundation eCourse tomlinharmonicaschool.com/p/4-week-foundation
Just because you don’t like the sound of playing hard, doesn’t mean it’s a bad or thin and nasty sound. Actually that is a common sound in rhythm and blues music. It’s all part of the flexibility of the instrument. Get some culture dude.

Exactly what I needed. I finally can something that's recognizable

Hiya, It shouldn't be that rough. They are cheap instruments but they shouldn't feel that cheap.
What key is the one your playing on. Great sound!!👈😎
Hiya, it's a C harmonica :-)
@@TomlinHarmonica Then I bam heading to guitar center for a C - harp 👈😎

Is this the only practice we are to do for the first month ?

Just play the harmonica in the shower and play “ i am singing in the rain” . No conditioner though!
@ 🤭😅🤣
My left hand is totally paralyzed after a severe brain stroke: can I still learn to play this instrument? What's suitable for me?
Absolutely! You can play with your right hand or you can use a rack around your neck :-)
@TomlinHarmonica thanks a tonne dear! Should I begin with a C 10 bole diatonic one? 🙏 Namaskaar
When i was younger i thought you only blew through harmonicas , didn't realise there was a draw ,now that i know this im still rubbish.
…and of course this is why we all picked up a harmonica in the first place. I use it as an ice breaker!
Amen!
One of those days when the weather is blazing hot
