UA-cam Music has been coming in clutch for recommending alternative listening music that has been needing but not knowing it.
I’ve really started to get into outlaw country, thanks to Cory Marks. He opened for Travis Tritt back on Aug 4th at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally @ the Buffalo Chip
Cory’s also just did a track with Sully Erna of Godsmack and another featuring Ivan Moody of FFDP, both of which features THE Mick Mars on guitars and Travis Tritt. He’s also done a track featuring Lzzy Hale of Halestorm, and another with DL of Bad Wolves
Lakeview was recommended to me by UA-cam Music. Another artist is Tim Montana

@@tastyenchilada modern country is southern pop music. It far closer resembles pop than country does, that's why it works. So you can just write a poppy metalcore song and sing with some twang = country metal.
"Real country" so to speak is so different in its flow and mood it wouldn't fit with metalcore very well. You could maybe adapt some slow sad country songs to fit with shoegaze or sad boy stuff like Balance and Composure.

Mitchell started off in metal bands. He’s posted a video or two to his TikTok of him doing some gutturals which were pretty sick

As a Metalhead that grew up primarily in the sticks of AL and TN, you're gonna have a hard time convincing me this genre wasn't created specifically for my friends and I... Time to start a band for the first time in over a decade! 🤣

I heard in an interview that Mitchell actually started in music by doing harsh vocals in a band, then switched to country. Doesn't shock me he's been involved with some heavier stuff, I hope he does more

So um, im surprised nobody has mentioned it yet, but like Hank3 is OG meta-punk/country-western fusion. You'll have to dig a lil deeper for it cos his label wouldn't let him release the heavy stuff.(Assjack is a good starting place)
Closest i seen in the comments was mention of Rebel Meets Rebel, Hank appeared on Get Outta My Life.

If you want something a little more old-school country, and a little more old-school metal, check out "Cody Parks and the Dirty South". I have not been a country fan my whole life...until this year, and they have been the band that made me get over the fear of admitting that I'm OK with country now. Just do whatever makes you happy, man.

I am not really surprised to see this sort of stuff really starting to pop up. Modern country when you look at the lyrics is pretty damn emo with the amount of times a song will be about a girl or break up it's just instead of "So cut my wrists and black my eyes" it's "Chug some beers and drive my truck." Add in that a lot of the musicians playing these days are metal heads who are paying the bills being session or touring musicians for a main country act it's not hard to see them start messing around in a jam session and something like this coming from it.

Combining both genres together is crazy but works
