I just bought the cable from Amazon, $13. I am swapping my 2003 ALH Tdi into my 1990 Suzuki Samurai and have already narrowed down the harness, just need to turn off the immobilizer sinceI won't be running the cluster or keys. The cable comes with a little disc that I believe has the software on it. I will update this comment if it ends up working for me. Thanks for the awesome video!
Thanks for another great video Josh. I have 2 x EDC16U31 ECU's out of a Touareg V10 on the bench. I don't have the Touareg. Is it possible to identify Master and Slave without connecting to diagnostics? One is noticeably more corroded than the other suggesting a more exposed mounting location if that is any help. Thanks again.
Wonder how hard it is to remove the led diode from inside the cluster to get rid of the flashing light. I got a busted cluster I might try to play around with to see what's up before I tamper with mine lol.
Man, thank you for making this great video and explaining it in simple terms. I sent you an email for the software. Do you know what software would work on the 05 VW Beetles for IMMO Defeat? VCDS says theirs can't do IMMO delete. Thanks
Thanks for the info man! I work on a lot of vw’s and have for years but never had to do anything with the immobilizer and I have one coming in this week. I ordered the cable so hopefully it works looks super simple. Will this program work on a bunch of other years? And what else can you do with this software? Can you re write millage?
Send me an email (my address is somewhere in the comments on this video) and I can send some programs over. It says it’ll work on some gasser ecus but I’ve found it doesn’t, I just use it strictly for alh ecus. I’ve got a program that uses the same blue cable for cluster read/edit/write/cloning as well as another program that can do cool edits to the cluster eeprom. I haven’t done videos on these programs but they are fairly simple to use.
Hey this works on edc15 ecu’s which were found in 99-03 North American TDI’s. Gas cars and newer diesels use different ecus which this wouldn’t work with
Hey, yeah immo defeat/immo off same thing. Disabling the immo in the file for engine swaps, ecu/clusters swap or in my case a lost key without the rfid chip.
Hi! I appreciate your time and skill, but should you do a checksum correction in EDC15Calc before you write the eep content to the ecu? I think you should. Maybe the VAG commander do the checksum correction by default when changes made in the eep or it will calculate the chks. during the writing... However, nice video.
They’re LED so you have to desolder it or just put some tape over the inside. There’s also a program to edit the eeprom of the cluster that should work as well.
My car audi a3 2002. year was stolen. I found and returned the car, but now the immobilizer light flashes constantly. The car can start with any key. The immo light flashes all the time while the engine is running. How do I fix this?
The immo will flash when the key doesn’t match the cluster, so I assume when you found it that it didn’t have the original key? I’m not familiar with the Audi line up but I know there is some programs where you can edit eeprom data and can get it to shut that light off among other cool options. Other options are turn immo back on and pair the key properly or just disassemble the cluster and put tape over the led.
Hey Josh. What software are you running? Is it compatible with windows 10? I have a 2001 VW beetle and it is having issues with the immo. I want to turn it off. I found the cable on eBay and it comes with a disc. Does the disc comes with the software or with the cable drivers?
It really depends on what the cables advertised as, most come with just the required drivers but some are “vag-com” cables which are knock off vcds programs. Send my an email to joshthring21@live.ca and I can send the program, I use it on my windows 10 laptop

Why don’t you buy a inmo chip , programmed to the car and drill the screwdriver in the plastic a hole and put the chip inside with glue and not inmo light flashing 🤷♂️
This was mainly for demonstration purposes to use the ecu stand-alone in a swap. That’s an option but then you require another rfid chip, this program to pull the skc and vcds to program it.
