Are you people clueless about how cars charge are you ? Clearly air con systems .. and heaters need an alternator running to keep your battery charging … do everyone a favour ; don’t breed !
I have an A7 2020 45TFSI, ever since i bought it this start stop feature has a mind of its own.. sometimes will go for days not working.. even with aircon off, and suddenly will start work for a day.. as for coasting.. I'm lucky to see that work maybe once or twice a year
Whenever i have it OFF and i push brake and stop the vehicle, the Start and Stop sign shows up (like its about to stop the engine) and when i completely push the brake it increases rpm for 1 sec like it starts from stopped (i guess to avoid enabling the start and stop?).. Is that normal??
in Q3 35TFSI 2022 when you disable start-stop via the console button, each time the car makes a traffic stop the engine stops too! and then immediately re-starts again, so you get this irritating on and off and on action, Audi is this a joke?
You have to get the harness then pull out he tray .. it is online it isn't difficult or expensive to do. Everyone is doing it because this default feature is so incredibly dangerous and Audi has NUMEROUS lawsuits regarding this dangerous feature.
Mine has this thing, I live in a city where I have lots of hills and sometimes I remain suspended with A(off), foot on clutch, on brake and ready to go when is free but the moment I remove the foot from brake and hit acceleration pedal, the car stops. Then I have to restart the car, trying again on the hill with traffic behind me and stops again, do it again and eventually it keep going. It is really annoying.
A little correction: when you say you cannot turn off Start Stop ever.... Audi A8 remembers last state of Start Stop. and does not turn on automatically if you turn it off . Even if you totally shut the car down. No Disrespect intended. Just wanted to share it. mine is 2017 A8L 4.0 Sport
Yes, the system stops from slow speeds, not from a complete stop. If the engine is a mild hybrid system, the low speed threshold is increased quite a bit
Hi! Sometimes, with the hazard light on, it auto stop but then when I want to move forward tells me to start manually the car again. Additionally I have to move from D to P. Can avoid this? S4 B8.5
I ride with my heater off with the car in comfort mode driving driving slow everywhere and it still don’t turn off and on at the light sometimes it shows a white A with a slash through it and sometimes it shows a green A with a slash through it
@@janpravica5346 I didn't realize that the situation had changed, but you are right, it did change. I saw a UA-cam video where a guy was showing people how to do it now. It's just more complicated. Audi obviously really wants those engines to get torn up as quickly as possible.
You saved my time and money to find a solution to make the system default off (auto start stop), every time i tide i had to turn it off manually which is became habit
The car always shuts its engine off even when the auto start / stop function is turned off ... A3 2022 ... I have to turn on the A/C every time in order for the system to stop working .. ??
Hi there- if after watching our video and understanding how your Start Stop System works in your Audi, we would recommend booking a service appointment with your local Audi Dealer if you believe there is an issue with this feature in your vehicle.
This "feature" is stopping me from buying an Audi. Not allowing consumers to turn off bad technology is impressively stupid. Way to take the luxury out of your luxury car
Sorry you feel this way. It is definitely not Audis intention to frustrate customers with a feature like this. All vehicle manufactures luxury/non-luxury are challenged to intergrade features to lower emissions and save fuel. While some people may not appreciate this- Audi has done their best to keep both the customer and the powers that be happy.
@@AudiRoyalOak Sorry it IS this way. Sorry to hear this is the "best" Audi can offer. Sorry that a janky function that makes the car dangerous at busy intersections can't be turned off completely.
It could be that based on your preferences there is too big of draw on the engine/battery for this feature to activate- like a max heat or max cool setting on your climate control combined with full heated or cooled seats being on? Your SQ5 will also not turn off when in Sport mode. Those are just a few ideas that come to mind as to why it might not activate. You can also inquire in person the next time you bring your SQ5 in for service.
This is an incredible DANGEROUS feature it is the MOST hated feature on an Audi. People are getting into accidents because it starts and stops when it wants to. We understand Audi can't "legally" default it to off permanently because of stupid legal decisions but the company is /has faced numerous lawsuits because of the danger of this default feature. We as the consumer should be able to REMOVE this feature permanently, most of us are doing that as it is a danger to ourselves and our families. Audi in turn should not penalize us for trying to SAVE lives by removing this feature by voiding out our warranties!
I have 5 stop signs in my neighborhood before heading out to the main street, it cuts out 5x. God.., please shoot me in the head. This will destroy the starter motor etc prematurely.
@@AudiRoyalOak This is the case because it is not an electric vehicle with a MASSSIVE electric battery to support the chronic switching to on off destroying the crank shafts etc.. This default mode is like half a hybrid without the massive battery to deal with the constant wear and tear of cranking.
Is this setting intended to assist in claiming Euro 5 emissions? Otherwise, it seems dumb that I have to rely on magician with a laptop to get rid of this 💩
I just got my first Audi A5 after coming from Infiniti for 18 years. This is the dumbest "feature" ever invented. It can cause accidents if you need to quickly pull into cross traffic. There are multiple ways to disable it via obd11 or a physical cable. I would have never got the A5 if I couldn't disable the feature. Why they continue to put this on cars to bump up gas mileage claims is beyond me.
Just bought a brand new A3 - The implementation of this feature is appalling, randomly stalls in the most in opportune moments for no reason whatsoever. Now turn it off every journey
Doesn't make any sense it stops working when the AC is on, so people should drive with the AC off in hot weather temperatures, ridiculous for a brand like Audi 😢
They should be legally compelled to do it as this should be labeled a recall issue at the very least allow us to install harnesses without voiding the warranty. Buy an after market harness SUPER easy to put in it puts the car into thinking you pressed the button every time you start the car. There are loads of videos on it. You should be able to do it yourself it is that dead easy. The fact AUDI is digging their heels in acting like this would be impossible is DISGUSTING and scammy. Just when you go into the dealership to get work done remove it so they don't act like shysters and void your warranty for making your car safer so you don't DIE on the road with their dangerous system in place.

Hi there- we cannot attest to the Start Stop System working at such an extreme depth. We are more familiar with the Start Stop System performing at elevations above sea level and elevation is a non-factor.
You just saved me a visit to the dealer . Mine stopped working because as you said the Air Condition was on .👌👌👌

Does this start stop lead to premiture cambelt braking .. as it does with timing chains..

For my 2021 Audi A4, I was able to use Carista to set Start/Stop to default to OFF whenever the car is started.

when i get ready to fully stop on red light, the car turns off even if the car not fully stopped?????
Depends on which Audi model, but this is normal operation - coasting feature!

Honestly, I drive a 45tfsi. When the start/stop kicks in, I can feel the engine start via vibrations. When coasting, there is no vibration whatsoever
