Sometimes people say to me, "You look so nice, you must be going somewhere special". I often reply, "No, I get dressed up to take out the garbage." Lol. My dad was from NY originally. When he relocated to CA he worked in the garment district downtown L.A for a ladies coat manufacturer. When I was a teenager we would go to many of the showrooms and his friends would give us discounted new clothes. I fell in love with all of the fabrics, styles and classy pieces. It's a whole different world. I had more coats than I would ever need in California!

I love vintage jewelry! Always going to consignment shops and estate sales. Found so many high end purses there! I always get up every day, and as my grandmother would say "Put your face on Candice". I never wear sweats or lounge clothes when traveling, whether driving, taking the train or flying! My husband asks me why I am so dressed up! LOL. 🙂

Oh my heavens! You are my spirit animal. I'm an absolute consignment junkie always looking for the classics -- Valentino, Herrera, Hermes, Cucinelli, Chanel, Ralph Lauren, and the list goes on. Long ago I used to save editorials and promo books sent to me by the major stores. Those Look Books are dog earred, and my mission is to find nearly every piece I used to covet. To date, I've had a lot of success. Sooner or later, they usually show up. You just need a lot of patience. Nearly all of my shopping is consignment -- 95% at least. They don't make clothing like they used to; the fabrics, seaming and styling is overwhelmingly superior. Thank you for doing this video. I would love to see your favorite pieces.

My wedding dress, many years ago, was from a consignment shop named Delia's Divine Decadance. The shop owner said that every piece that has come in has a story except this one Victorian high collar, lace overlay, ivory dress that I ended up buying for $98. It was a Laura Ashley and practically new. I had also rented my son his suit from there. He was about 16 at the time. So I got him a tux that was long tails, pants with the satin stripe down the side, spats and a top hat! He looked fabulous! He was part of the wedding party and it was a very small wedding but what fun!
I need to lose my 50 lb menopause weight gain to feel good again about clothes. Between menopause and many, many stressors over the last 15 years, my tiny body is now 50 lbs. bigger. Thank you for the inspiration - I love your videos!
Nikol, having been a flight attendant in the early 70's, I so appreciate your remarks and I too still dress 'up' when traveling. I shop consignment/vintage often - you are a wonderful inspiration. I took your advice and purchased one off the Real Real for half the price. It brings me such joy, the fit is amazing. Every time I wear it I get compliments. My wedding dress, many years ago, was from a consignment shop named Delia's Divine Decadance. The shop owner said that every piece that has come in has a story except this one Victorian high collar, lace overlay, ivory dress that I ended up buying for $98. It was a Laura Ashley and practically new. I had also rented my son his suit from there. He was about 16 at the time. So I got him a tux that was long tails, pants with the satin stripe down the side, spats and a top hat! He looked fabulous! He was part of the wedding party and it was a very small wedding but what fun!
I need to lose my 50 lb menopause weight gain to feel good again about clothes. Between menopause and many, many stressors over the last 15 years, my tiny body is now 50 lbs. bigger. Thank you for the inspiration - I love your videos!
Nikol, having been a flight attendant in the early 70's, I so appreciate your remarks and I too still dress 'up' when traveling. I shop consignment/vintage often - you are a wonderful inspiration. When I find a lovely item (that no one else has) it's so much fun! More importantly I find I can more comfortably dress 'me' - what a confidence booster.

I absolutely ADORE all the vintage clothing you source. They are incredible and fit you like they were made for you. All the advice you gave us about sourcing clothing is fabulous. The only issue for me is that most of these classic items do not come in larger sizes as designers didn't even design for anyone over a sign 12 up until some years ago (if I'm not wrong)... xoxoxo

I love buying thrift, charity shops and on poshmark. The brands I look for are not real high end designers. I love quality, vintage pieces. Do I have anyplace to wear some of it? No but I love finding it, and trying it on for myself and my husband. You are the epitome of chic. Love all your tips. ❤

Just turned 89 and love watching you and getting excited with you. I remember going to the best store in Rochester when I was 16 yrs old and going to the designer floor. I worked so I could buy these clothes on sale and lay away having to wait until paid for to pick up. Just a young girl from immigrant parents who had a dream. Living on the west coast the past 2 yrs, there are no occasions to wear those beautiful clothes since the " vibe " is casual. Unfortunately, some think casual means sloppy.
I dress in what I love, but, wool trousers and cashmere turtleneck sweaters are no longer feasible as my wardrobe stables. Oh, h🌹ow I miss those days on the east coast.

I do not do Tik Tok. I love your UA-cam. My granddaughter has done thrift shopping and vintage since she was a young teen. She is now 31 and really has a unique style. I am 77 and retired and a widow and do not dress much beyond jeans and tees. I love looking at those fashions you are showing. I just bought makeup following your suggestions and want to use it more. I haven't worn much more than eye brow pencil to fill it bare spots.

Never been much for athleasure or sweats. My grandmother was a master taylor in the 40- 50’s. I remember looking at seams and interfacing and how the details and quality defined a piece💕

I have been dressing every day since College and learned back then that church shops, re-runs were my faves on my budget and as I expanded and moved around the US and to Europe I never forgot my routes. I took your advice and purchased one off the Real Real for half the price. It brings me such joy, the fit is amazing. Every time I wear it I get compliments. It also is a great incentive to keep the extra weight off! I don’t ever want to out grow it 😂

I have always loved shopping consignment! Although it is not the bulk of my wardrobe, they are the pieces that I adore & keep for life! A good tailor is money well spent! The pieces that were tailored to fit are the pieces I reach for again & again!
Lately I have had no time to visit the stores & hesitate to shop online... However, with some of Nikol's tips I might become brave enough to try! I've also lost weight and I'm looking forward to building a new, classic wardrobe!
