Spot on! It took me a while but the dressing for your actual lifestyle is the one I now focus on the most, I long for certain styles but when I think about it I wouldn’t wear them in my day to day life. The tip that’s missing is ‘does it suit & flatter my shape’, that’s a really important one x
Great videos. Thank you, Lydia. Very helpful. One can learn from your videos not only about style but also about smart shopping, which is so much important in this consumerism culture.
These are great tips. I just need to follow the "Do I have something similar?" and "Does it fit my lifestyle?" When I find something that I absolutely love (style and fit - sweaters and/or shoes for instance) I buy more than one in a different color. I am retired and I still desire to wear classic and tailored clothing. I don't want to look frumpy.
Thank you for this. I have been overly “influenced” and now have a bulging closet and am in debt. Really trying to turn things around and feel like this is the healthiest content ever.
Another way to phrase the lifestyle question that I heard was, "Is this something I just like to buy but don't like to wear?" That really hit home and exposed some major trends in my closet 😅
Thank you, this was helpful. I would add to your comments on color in that resisting temptation to add a new color unless you really love, it can be problematic.
Great video. I would add making sure that it works for your body type. There are occasions when we can’t tell what will work for us until we try it on but other times we have an idea that certain things don’t look good on us and we try it anyway so unless you’re someone who is committed to tailoring, has a good tailor and doesn’t mind spending the extra money on that, really try to stick with stuff that you know works.
Do I have sth similar? Am I missing this piece form my wardrobe? Does it suit my lifestyle? Will this colour suit me? Is this my style? Can I re-wear this? Do I have the outfits that will go with the thing?
Such good tips ❤ I need to take last one into account more often. I only started thinking and dressing smartly about clothes a few years ago. So I really don’t have a lot of pieces that would build out a wardrobe. Right now I need black boots. For the longest time it was finding a pair of comfy black heels. I feel like the list doesn’t end!
Great tips! One thing i have learned is to buy quality leather handbags. The cheaper ones don’t last and look dated within a year or 2. Keeping the leather ones for 10 years plus
can you do a video about reworking wardrobes to fit lifestyle changes (i.e., how to wear career/office clothes in different ways when you switched to work from home - you don't want to not ever wear all your blazers, blouses, etc. but you need to find ways to wear them more casually for when you go to lunch/dinner for instance versus to an office)
Thank you Lydia These are great tips ! With these techniques, we can buy less, but better. This preserves the budget to be able to buy better quality pieces. and thus obtain a richer, more elegant result, in the spirit of old money
Excellent discussion. Trying a color that you are not really sure of can be accomplished by searching the thrift stores. You might find something inexpensive. Also, you may want to suggest where we can unload items that we are not really wearing. Thank you for this video.
After discovering Lydia 3 years ago, I'm still asking myself every time I shop, "Would Lydia wear this?" It really helps me stay focused on what I need and it saves me time and money. I make a mental note of what's missing in my outfits instead of impulse buying. Recently I purchased a pair of slim cut jeans, even though I wouldn't wear them in any other way than tucked into my knee high boots. Now I can wear my much loved boots again after they sat in my closet for several years because I had nothing to wear with them. Many thanks to Lydia for her great advice.
So love this kind of video, especially when speak someone like Lydia who is always in trend with so many collaborations with different brands and can choose whatever she wants!🥰
love these tips Lydia! A few days ago I returned a beautiful pair of leather trousers because I found that what I miss the most in my wardrobe are some ankle boots and some knee high boots and not another pair of trousers. However I would love to add a pair of leather trousers to my capsule wardrobe later.
This is more useful to me, more than you know. It calms me down a bit when I get these lessons. (especially getting closer to the holidays.). Thanks so much
My first European trip was an eyeorner refashion. I was acutely aware in Sydney of the very latest and followed international magazines closely. Then say in Milan saw by many niche fashions and realised the media and buyers just had selected their own very limited take for commerce that season and pushed it in my country and the foreign magazines
Hi Lydia, Just ran a bath and hoped you would have a new video out, and you did! So calming, enlightening, and practical. I do admit that I have a problem with denim. Always looking for the perfect jeans, but I just seem to have a growing collection and am never completely happy with the fit or the composition. Maybe a video on jeans, although I have watched so many, would be helpful. 😅 Thanks always Lydia.
I love this discussion format. Thank you for these helpful tips. I take screenshots of your outfits that I love and want to replicate from your videos. I have many. ❤
These tips are so great. I'm planning on decluttering my closet and these questions also come in handy. By the way, can you make a video about your bags and shoes? I'm looking for some bags and shoes that has classic look like yours.
I’m going to print these 7 great tips and keep it in my purse to stay focused on my next shopping trip. Great content🥂. What I struggle with is packing light for a 1 week or 3 weeks business and holiday trips without giving the impression that I am wearing the same outfits. Can’t wait to see your next videos!
There was a very beautiful olive green cardigan you were wearing (not the set). I love that one but could not find it on your list. Could you please list it for me? Thank you so much. Love your videos.
Yes! Wonderful reminders. I started following these tips after having my babies. I was forced to take a gooooood look at my wardrobe and prioritize practicality and saving money 😬😬. Question: whose painting is that? It is beautiful!
For a long time, as the price of Chanel increased, I no longer thought I could afford it. I think I'll be happy that I have the HQDUPE as my travel bag that I don't have to take care of. By the way, I'm sure no one will have a hard time telling the difference. Thanks for the comparison.
Yeah Living in mid Wales where its cold, always raining and youre constantly getting splattered with mud.. satin slip skirts, cream trousers and white are a no..😂
And avoid the costly extremes. Maybe buy a cheap extreme, maybe on Sale. Lydia chose hugely oversized costly jackets which were too extreme and have disappeared. I do have the occasional extreme which has lasted forever because of some quality like fabric or the leather and colour by or design rxcellence.
1. Do I have something similar ? 2. Am I missing this piece from my wardrobe ? 3. Does this suit my lifestyle ? 4. Will this color suit me ? 5. Is this my style ? Current or to achieve 6. Can I rewear this ? 7. Do I have the outfits to match with that piece ?
If testingcolour against you do it for a second or two. Beyond that your eyes adjust and tolerate the incorrect colour. I had excellent colour assessment years ago and then terrible assessment by an englishwomanexpat in Melbourne. She held colours against me for minutes and told me incorrrct things. Bd warned Colour assessment done properly is magical.
Hi Lydia, I remember you did a video like this, quite a while back. Since implicating these ideas, have been using my clothes to make so many outfits and I really look at my wardrobe differently now…… So many thanks’

Love your new colourful artwork - so nice to see you stepping out from the plain beige trend

She and Lydia have helped me stay engaged with fashion and beauty while dealing with a bit of a shopping problem
Thank you, Lydia, you just reminded me that I have 5 black blazers and really don’t need another one!
Hahah to be honest I’m with you there too 😂
Another way to phrase the lifestyle question that I heard was, "Is this something I just like to buy but don't like to wear?" That really hit home and exposed some major trends in my closet 😅
Yes!!! This is such a good one! Feel like that could really help to declutter too!
Please do a video on which jacket lengths go with which type of pants
Noted! ❤
@ thanks 🙏
Thank you, this was helpful. I would add to your comments on color in that resisting temptation to add a new color unless you really love, it can be problematic.
Yes so true!!! Definitely agree with this ❤
Simple, excellent advice!!!!
Glad you think so!❤
Loved these tips! I can vouch for the color one; knowing what colors are flattering on me has helped me make smarter purchases!

Adore this video, Lydia! You have the best curated wardrobe, and are an inspiration to all of us. ❤️🎶🐾
I wish I had watched this video when I was 12 (I'm 26 😀) Thank you Lydia and greetings from Finland!
As usual, these tips are all very useful! Love that painting in your background. That was a great choice. 😊
Thank you so much, Lydia, yet another useful video!

The last tip is good as are the others but making sure your wardrobe is set up for your purchase is very necessary, I agree there

100% agree the search for denim is real !!😅
I used to have this problem and solved it by just ditching denim! Way to go!
@@JuniorCharles-k6q this is a great idea - I haven’t ever considered this but wow it would make life much easier - thank you 🧡

I typed the list in my NOTES feature in my iPhone…so while I browse, shop…it’s available.
Definitely useful,I had to break my head many times before figuring out what was wrong with the stuff I was bying and not wearing
This, this, this! Such great advice.
Fab tips Lydia❤ written up in my notes ❤ x
Yay love this!!! So pleased to hear!
Useful tips thank you.

Have you ever made a video about 3 word method? Curios what's your 3 words
I am coveting a grey midi skirt slit in the front, to wear with my old maroon knee high boots. But it won't go on the bike 😭
Loving the shorter videos 🫶🫶🫶
I would add
8. Does it suit my figure, fit my body-shape ?
I love your blazer! What's the brand?
👏👏👏
Where is the poster or painting behind you from please ? 😍
Hi where is your bracelet from?
Is that a Parima Studio print in the bg? 👀

I like your fingernails. May I ask what color?
1. Do I have something similar ?

3. Does this suit my lifestyle ?
4. Will this color suit me ?
5. Is this my style ? Current or to achieve
6. Can I rewear this ?
7. Do I have the outfits to match with that piece ?
I am a busy Mom so while I love so styles I always ask can I wear this to the park. If the answer is no then I don’t buy it 😢
Refreshing to remind not to buy things we don’t need
I know this is video is about not spending more money but I need to know your nail color here

Does anyone really “need” anything new? 😂😂😂 I don’t think I’ve ever really “needed” anything. But it’s sure fun to get new stuff.
Yes, you need workwear and clothes to layer and keep you warm? Obviously you need some clothes in your wardrobe ..
People have often asked me, mooching around shops, what is it you need? My answer, always, it's not 'need', it's 'want' 😂
That jacket is way too big, very distracting.
She used to enjoy oversized style.
Ok, I’m not the only one that thought so.
