I love that we are channeling the 80s. It was a period where women were feeling their power and fashion reflected that. Big huggy earrings, shoulder pads, kitten heels, and frosted lipstick! You are a great source of fashion advice Lydia. I rely on your videos for inspiration.
YES! I'm all about the 80s! Curious as to whether you were around in the 80s when it was first in fashion? As I feel like the ladies that were sometimes don't like revisiting that 80s look! Thank you for your lovely words!!! :) xx
@LydiaJaneTomlinson Oh yes, I was around! In fact, I was around in the 70s, too. In the 80s, I think fashion took cues from the 40s, actually. Reference old Lauren Bacall movies for shoulder pads and structured suits. The 80s seemed to be a radical shift from the "natural woman" look of the 70s. We were tired of headbands, bell bottoms, and giant paisley, LOL! Thanks for your enfluence on Utube. 🩵

Thank you for all your work on Utube. I think you are the most important influence. I know you helped me a lot when I began revisiting my fashion vibe - again! 💙 OXOX
Love this - workwear has seemed so hard since the pandemic. Always nice to figure out subtle ways to keep it current without breaking the bank getting a ton of new things.
This was a very useful video! It was kind of amazing to see what a difference the larger earrings made - crazy! The rest of the outfits were gorgeous as always - love the oversize tip too.
I just started a new job recently and have to go into the office a couple of days a week. I found this video inspiring and made me think of pieces in my wardrobe that I can style with the regular workwear basics. Thanks!
It really depends on your body! Don't wear oversized pieces when you are short for instance because the clothes will swallow you. Also when you have an hourglass figure with broad hips and shoulders will make you bigger and oversized will be so unflattering. Your style should fit your body type and kibbe.
True! And that's why I have included lots of different tips and options for each one - these are just my own examples but the idea of all of my videos is to give practical tips that people can implement according to their own tastes/body shape/ lifestyles etc! :) I hope that comes across in the videos because the idea is not to copy my outfits, but to make it work for you. That said, I've seen petite girls in oversized pieces and it looks amazing! It's all about little styling tricks like rolling up sleeves, cinching the waist, wearing with the right shoes! When styled in the right way, I think it can look so good! :)
@LydiaJaneTomlinson absolutely, but you need some knowledge in order to know what works for you. I assume people will recognise that something isn't working for them but if you don't know why, it's pretty hard to charge it to fit you. I also think that a part of your audience will copy the things you do and then they are disappointed that it doesn't fit the same way it fits you. Maybe a good follow up video on how you find your style and what works for your body? It's already hard enough that high street brands pretty much only cater for one or two body types 😕
@@lidewijvos yes totally appreciate that, definitely agree! It’s very difficult if you’re totally unsure, which is why I try and do lots of variety of tip videos! It’s sometimes difficult to talk about body shapes with me being a one woman band! 🙊 It can also be a sensitive subject for some, which I am of course conscious of! I will do my best to include that more in future videos where possible though!🥰💕
Love these styling tips! Last tip was my favorite, to add an element that typically isn’t considered workwear. A great way of getting wear out of other parts of my wardrobe.
Thank you, thank you, thank you 😊😊😊😊😊 you have an incredible brain, not just a talent with style. Can't thank you enough for the help. Your office wear style makes going to work actually appealing!!! Pretty hard task Xo
@@KateCasey-e7x aww thank you SO much! What lovely words!! 🥰💕 Would love to know what you do if you don’t mind me asking, I’m always interested to know about people’s jobs and where they come from! Xxx
@LydiaJaneTomlinson I work in a regulatory role in the finance industry in Australia.. I need all the help I can get to get out of bed and go to work. You make a big difference to my life 😁!
@@KateCasey-e7x oooh wow that sounds like it could be very intense! But interesting!!! Love that you’re from Australia too 🥹! It’s so nice that these videos can reach people from all corners of the globe! ❤️❤️❤️
This is helpful. Can you also do more “feminine” dressier office attire too please? For client facing we need to be presentable, flattering yet remain professional. The office attire tips on social media are generally too casual for our workplace
Great tips. Banana Republic has a beautiful snakeskin ankle boot if you are interested. I have the same style in the brown suede. They are so comfortable and I think you would love this style.
I do like Lydia's ideas but have a feeling that there have been a lot of oversized blazers around for a couple of years now. They already give this dated vibe. Oversized earrings are a completely different story. Love them
Dear Ms Lydia, I see your lovely pieces paired with...white trousers! I am shy at trying white during the winter; for and foremost, you look stunning! Thank you for showing us that....a little adventure in dressing goes a long way and refreshes a dull look! ;) helene, Canada
Love all of this. In Australia, we have crap, crap styles, crap quality, ill fitted clothes made purposeley to make women feel like crap no matter the amount of money spent. And i have never seen the star scarfe.
I always love your sense of style and your direction. It’s just that some of the things with the shoulder pads on you, obviously when you’re thin and taller, you are trying to maybe get more dimension in your shape and I can understand that. I also try to do that. I am very narrow shoulder. I try to balance large hips, but I was just noticing when you’re seated and talking it just doesn’t really look as proportionate may be a little triangular. Idon’t know if you would notice that, care for you very much.
I am type of person who like to explore my fashion however for work i have specific wardrobe each day, more like "uniform" so i could safe time more productive.
How I dressed for work pre-Covid doing 5 days in the office is different to how I dress for work now with hybrid working. Most ppl are having to commute (London) with a laptop bag plus a hanbag. I've noticed women (me included) dress a bit more casual & EVERYONE is wearing flats or trainers. As I'm in the office less frequently now, I'm definitely not buying any new work wear!
Wow- head-to-toe, you could be me heading to work in 1988! We felt all kinds of boss power we'd never felt before- and our suits, shoes, bags... reflected that!
These are all great looks, but very corporate. I think a large amount of women who work in the office environment, work in a place where jeans and sneakers are perfectly fine.
I actually really appreciate this coz most of internet “office” attire tips are too business casual. Even flats (non heels) are uncommon except Fridays at our office
Post covid with many ppl doing hybrid working, no one's dressing up to go the office. Plus, we all need to carry a laptop bag plus our handbag on the office commute!

Great suggestions, 👍 👌 I can't fathom purchasing expensive shoes with metal embellishments. It makes certain shoes look cheap.

Snake print can be so elegant and interesting. I’d like it better if the contrast between colours in the pattern was less evident, though.

really don't get the oversized look. it's definitely not for every body type"
Ummm. Those shoulder pads of yours are looking very 1980’s. Please tell me that isn’t in style.
