    I'm loving that you're gradually slipping more comedy into your reviews. I'm not sure if it's a deliberate strategy, or just a by-product of growing as a content creator, but either way the gags are quality.

    Great effort and well done. These stadia relate to ABL 2.0 and it's noteable how many more purpose built facilities there are.
    In the firat version of the ABL (89-99) there were only two dedicated baseball facilities in the now removed Orioles Stadium in Auburn, Sydney (Parramatta Patriots) and Parry Field for Perth Heat (now an Eberts Field-like appartment block). The Auburn Orioles facilities were used for the 1988 World Under 18 Chamionships.
    Several rectangular football fields were doubled up e.g. former Parramatta Stadium, Bruce Stadium, Canberra and even the former Sydney Football Stadium was used in 1989 by the one season team Sydney Metros.Being rectangular these had a large wall at one side making them baseball fields with their own "monsters". Canberra had a rather short centrefield with their configuration. Inaugural winners the Waverley Reds played at the famed World Series Cricket venue, Waverley Park.
    Should also be noted that Sydney Homebush Park / Showground was purpose built as a baseball stadium and was used as such for the 2000 Olympics as the primary venue as had been done for the test event the 1999 Intercontinental Cup. Western Sydney Giants AFL now call this their home.

    I was doing radio in the Frontier League (Windy City ThunderBolts, Ozinga Field) and there was a guy on one of the other teams from East Fremantle. That's how I learned that there is some Aussie baseball with your own league!

    Fun fact. Viticon Stadium where the Brisbane Bandits play is actually a local club stadium owned by the Windsor Royals Baseball Club. The name of the stadium when the Bandits aren't playing is Holloway Field.
    I've played there quite a few times. It's always a tough visit though because the Windsor Royals field a lot of current professional and former professionals on their team.

      Up to this point there have been over 36 Aussie based players that have played at MLB level. There are many more that played Minors and still more that played NCAA. The numbers go back before MLB existed and one man played in the 1890's. We have even had at least one player return with a World Series ring.

    If I owned an ABL team, I would get the college players from the USA out of amateur eligibility yet need a professional league that would buy more time for development. And improve Aussie baseball player development. They got some dudes down under.

    Great video, and stadiums....I visited Sydney in '03 on the way back to CA after the Itaq war....I remember hearing that the 3 ships of sailors and Marines helped pull Sydney out of its Olympic debt but not sure of its true or not. We did spend a lot money since we had saved up for months, lol 😂😂

    • @zenokada2278
      @zenokada2278 4 місяці тому +1

      I’m actually impressed with how big it is
      Fair play for getting baseball to even have a league when it’s behind cricket both rugbys, regular and Aussie football, basketball and netball
      And that’s not even considering solo sports like tennis golf athletics etc
      It could be the or even lower biggest sport but they have a league, here in Britain there is one baseball field in the whole country

    • @flamingfrancis
      @flamingfrancis 4 місяці тому

      @@zenokada2278 Indeed, but baseball had been stronger per capita for many yearrs more. Would also have been stronger with more exports to MLB but for money pumped into cricket through the action of the late, great Kerry Packer. I have seen a 1948-9 photograph of the Bradman Invincibles at the MCG dressed in baseball uniforms after a demo game. Players like Neil Harvey and Norm O'Neill were National level baseballers.
      Another point of note is that the great Victor Trumper, from WW1 time and has a stadium named for him at the SCG, was an excellent baseball player before cricket.
      Now you missed one very important factor (for a Pom) in stating popularity of sports which is that Soccer / Football is the most prticipated sport in Aussie now....and by a looooong way.

    What Sport has the best and most unique stadiums?

    • @gracedagostino5231
      @gracedagostino5231 9 місяців тому +1

      American baseball stadiums are the most unique in the world. The 30 Major League ballparks are all different from each other. The field dimensions are totally different. They are also blended into the fabric of the city, so when watching on TV, you know exactly where the game is at. There are also over a 100 minor league ballparks, no two are alike.

    • @yoluko4750
      @yoluko4750 9 місяців тому

      @@gracedagostino5231 The same could be said for cricket - no standard dimensions and the backdrops and stands always tell a knowledgable viewer about the location. Also a variety of locations, from the foothills of the Himalayas to Carribean waterfronts or inner city London

    • @gracedagostino5231
      @gracedagostino5231 9 місяців тому

      Yes, cricket stadiums have some nice locations, as does baseball, from San Francisco where a Home Run goes into the bay and is retrieved by boats. To very urban parks like Yankee Stadium in NYC. The outfields in Baseball are so unique. A Home Run is different in every stadium, which really changes the strategy of the game. Some players won't sign with certain teams, because they don't it well in that particular stadium. Same with pitchers, whether they are right or left-handed. Certain players will hit better in some stadiums, but worse in others. I don't think the nature of a cricket stadiums effects the game as much.@@yoluko4750

      @@yoluko4750 Never better evidenced in the fact that the "Home of Cricket", Thomas Lord's "oval" in suburban London had a whalloping 2.4 metres (8 feet) of slope across the field. It was "flatteded out" for the 2012 London Olympics Archery and now has only around six feet of slope. Let's not forget the many "Gully" filds in the planet's most populous nation, India.

    • @flamingfrancis
      @flamingfrancis 9 місяців тому

      My suggestion would be Golf. Many now have stadiums constructed around specific holes, especially the 18th., and layouts of the courses vary in every town and on every continent You have the manicured greens of Augusta (US Open) through to the sandtraps on the Nullabor Plain and also the unique Pooncarie.
