Thanks again guys. Very usefull as I'm right in the middel of my studio build. I have an other question about using slats. My studio (both tracking and mixing) is being built in an attic with sloping walls (i.e. the roof). These sloping walls are being covered by 16 cm of stone wool, with an airgap of about 2 -3 cm. The vertical walls on one side are fully covered as well by again 16 cm of stone wool, with an airgap of about 10 cm. I plan to cover about 50% of the other vertical wall with 10 cm stonewool panels (left over from my previous studio). Oh and I also will be building very deep bass traps where the roof/ sloping walls meet the floor: there's already a space made there to store stuff. We have camping gear and such in there, and I want to add another 16 cm stone wool bass trap in front. The same aplies for the small mini attic in the top of the room. I want to fill it with about 30 cm of stone wool and then make openings in the wooden ceiling (it's about 2 by 3.5 meters) and cover it with textile.
My question concerns where I should place slats for diffusion. I tend to go for the back sloping wall (furthest away from the mixing position) covering about 50% with slats, and maybe a small part of one of the side walls. I was wondering if diffusion on the sloping wall might have some sort of unwanted effects?

re what's available where for bass membrane bass traps question. UK mass loaded vinyl available densities = 10Kg/m2, 5Kg/m2. If there are other densities they weren't obvious to me on my brief google search. But yeah +1 for tutorial on membrane trap construction :)

amazing session guys, thanks for answering both of my questions, I’m fully satisfied with the answers❤️
and @Jesco, don’t worry about the name pronunciation haha, I get it’s pretty difficult, but you managed it quite well actually - ist genau wie man auf Deutsch “Christian” aussprechen würde aber halt mit “H” am Anfang und nicht “Ch” 😉 The middle part is supposed to be Cyrillic for “Hris”, but don’t worry about it, answering the questions is great enough for me, hehe
    Keep it up guys! ❤️

Hey Jesco! Just wanted to thank you for the Phantom Center workshop! That helped me set up my monitors and give me the best stereo image and I couldn’t be more pleased! It will speed up my workflow and has already proved that on my latest mix revision! Being able to hear the stereo image helped me place things in more appropriate places giving me more headroom and most importantly giving me an emotional connection. Once again thank you Jesco!

I found with my really oddly shaped ceiling, that the rectangular calculations still get you in the ballpark. I have a large part of my ceiling with gypsum boards and behind that there is rockwool, so there is some treatment coming from the build of the house already, gives a huge benefit in ringing compared to the room you guys treated here.
I still need some treatment, but nearly not that extent that you used in the room to get to acceptable levels, just because of this neat thing. So people shouldn't sleep on "bad" room shapes, as they could have hidden benefits. Also, your listening test helped me lots. I couldn't really move my desk, but the speakers came off speaker stands behind the desk and I moved them onto the desk, they are in a much better position. Spectogram wise I'm getting a really good distribution, only frequency response is lacking, because I don't have treatment in here yet. We'll see how it works out after building some panels.

Great series! Thank you! Question: Would correction software help after treatment for the dips and peaks that remain? And how much would you recommend that?

Great End to the series! 🙏 I was going to do 30cm deep panels with fluffy 8000 Pa*s/m², but now Im in doubt, should I do a mix 15cm/15cm with something more dense? or just directly do something more dense?

Love your content man thanks alot! quick question... is a loft space theoretically a better starting ponnt for a studio, over a box room, due to fewer paralell walls?

Would’ve been really funny 😂 if the dog had pee’d on the wall 😮😂
