It was a great, wholesome, OLD FASHIONED, family values kinda show. I remember laying in front of the TV watching Andy, Barney and Gomer and learning a plethora of cuss words. A real solid foundation for a successful life.
Clint Howard is genuine nice guy meet him many years ago a few times he was associated with a friend of mine hung out had a beer with him and he was funny down to earth not full of himself thanks for sharing 👍
Thank you for sharing this! I’m 47, and have been watching this show since I can remember. My grandparents watched it, and my dad and I watched it together. My mom wasn’t a fan.😁 Now, my son and I watch it almost daily. It’s such a magical thing about it, you can watch every episode so many times and it’s still so amazing. You can kick back after a long stressful day, and the cares just melt away as you take a trip to the small town of Mayberry.
Me too. That one is in my "comfort TV" line up. Cheers, Frasier, Seinfeld etc etc. Shows you can watch without having to think a lot about a plot or characters dialogue. I've seen every episode AT LEAST 20 times (the originals, not "Andy Of Mayberry") and still counting. Once there was no more Barney, it fizzled IMO.
I watch these reruns over and over. I still bust out laughing! My small group at church did a Bible Study based on some of the episodes. Mr. Darling was one of my favorites! “More power to ya’.” It really was genius! These actors were tremendously gifted!
I'm 55 and watch it every night. It's just a good wholesome show that makes you feel good and has stood the test of time. I prefer the black & white episodes over the color, to be honest.
I always loved seeing Clint always wanting to share his sandwich with someone. He he reminds me of my younger brother when he was that age. ❤ Ron Howard’s directing abilities are so spot on. I’m glad he realized. that directing was the way to go for him!
My Dad ( who looked just like Andy and walked like him- same mannerisms) always had this show on with reruns when he got older and we all loved the show. Since Dad died in 2020 at 90 yrs old I can not bring myself to watch it. I will one day soon, when I am ready for a good cry.
I'm 62 and this takes me back to 68,69,70. Just the beginning starting out in grade school. So much to learn,so many obstacles to overcome. Father time kicks butt!
I am 62 now I still enjoy watching all of the episodes with Don Knotts…to me, ‘he’ was the show. Watching episodes now I think there were some (episodes) that had smoking depicted. Even Thelma Lou smoked as is witnessed in this video! As prevalent as cigarettes were in Hollywood, advertising, music, etc., RJ Reynolds’s actually should have been credited in everything that radio, cinema and later television did. Just throw the tobacco lobbyists, chemists (adding the poison to the tobacco), CEO’s, etc., on both opening and closing credits!
Still the Greatest Show Ever 64 Years Later. The Writing, The Acting,The Comedy, The Life Lessons you just cant top it. Anyone who says different can go up an alley and holler fish while Nipping it in the Bud. #LongLiveTheAndyGriffithShow
Its amazing how this footage is in color. And the show was filmed in black and white. Also ,its sad that in 1976,the entire 40 acre Desilu backlot ,where this and so many other shows were filmed, was bulldozed to make way for office buildings!
Love this, even better with the inclusion of Clint and yourself ! I also like the two guys with the view camera at 6:42, looks like they were shooting 4x5 plates possibly of Rance and Clint..wonder where those images are now?
Thanks so much for sharing, Clint! I love to see home movies and anything related to The Andy Griffith Show. I also can appreciate your feelings about your parents. But I gotta tell you something: My parents were great too. My dad worked for the Postal Service as a letter carrier/clerk, and Mom was a great homemaker and schoolteacher. It's a great advantage to have good parents, and it is a shame that many kids don't have a good mom and dad. Looking at this footage, I see Ellen Corby is right there on her mark, and the footage of her is from "Barney's First Car, where Ellen plays a real shyster! Grandma Walton! I've also seen her in Get Smart and The Addams Family, where she plays Lurch's crazy mother. I love the scenes shot at the lake, too. Thank you for sharing, and much respect to you and Ron.
This show was before my time and never got big into it, but I love the sweetness and innocence of it. I remember Jackie Gleason once said something like "you have to have a live audience for a show, it won't work otherwise".... apparently he never saw this show.
It was just a good wholesome old fashioned old school show. No violence. Racism. Cussing. Just a good ole show. Grew up watching it and have been to the fictional show town of Mount Airy NC. Or Mayberry as it's sometimes s called.....
Betty Lynn was a doll. She was very attractive, I can't believe she never married. She would have been very sought after in my book. Most attractive on the show.
Hard to believe . Maybe she was a private person. Many years in Hollywood . She did many roles in a lot of different projects but will be remembered for this role .
Andy Griffith made one of the best movies of the 50s, A Face in the Crowd. Did he create The Andy Griffith Show to counter the image of rural America depicted in that film?
"Mom wasn't the greatest of cooks. We ate a lot of canned vegetables. And canned vegetables are probably not the most nutritious food." WHAT? Has to be much more nutritious than processed ready made foods.
When they shot the opening sceen where Opie threw the rock into the water, Opie always came short of the water, so in the final shot Opie threw the rock but the rock you see hit the water was thrown by the producer
Im 72 years old and watched every episode new each week. Still watch over and over aand over again
In my 60s and miss this era of 📺 TV. Today's shows are Goat tripe 😂

Glad you enjoyed it!
I have the box set and watch it over and over. I still laugh like its the first time watching it.😊
Absolutely one of the the best sitcoms ever made. EVER!!!I have watched it for 60 years and will continue to watch it until i stop breathing!!❤❤❤❤❤

Color episodes feel like a different show, but there are some good ones.

Loved the clip! Thanks so much for sharing. Anyone that has seen the show will enjoy seeing the home movies about the Mayberry.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I am watching one or two episodes everyday, love them.
About the same age as Opie. I feel almost like Ronnie, Curt Russel, and Billy Mumy were my classmates or neighbors as a kid.

perfect
Love this show! It was set in a much better time. Each episode leaves you with a good feeling. I'm so glad to see reruns 24/7 on Pluto!!
Couldn't agree more!
Been to Mount Airy and the Andy Griffith museum. Saw some of the set pieces and got my picture in the jail, and the statue of Andy and Opie
Its amazing how this footage is in color.

So many great moments in those clips. 5:27 Ron helping Clint into his trailer.
Good stuff!
So Barney's car was blue! Great episode.
Thanks for the memories !!
Any time!

I'm the same age as Ron, I grew up with this. Enjoyed watching this behind the scenes!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
Vow!👌I am a great fan of this show. Good to see some behind the scenes video!👍
Glad you enjoyed it
I watch it every M-F at 7pm. Love it. Simpler times
My favorite show growing up.
An American classic!
This is a treasure. Thank you!
You’re welcome! Glad you enjoyed it!
Love mayberry❤❤❤❤❤
I want to buy a house in Mayberry
Great times
Clint, you were great in "Rock & Roll High School"!
It was just a good wholesome old fashioned old school show. No violence. Racism. Cussing. Just a good ole show. Grew up watching it and have been to the fictional show town of Mount Airy NC. Or Mayberry as it's sometimes s called.....
Watch it every day great show....Back when life was simple not all this Crap thats on TV now
Down to earth!.!. 8:03
Say it ain’t so!!! Thelma Lou is smoking?!!!! ( 8:40) I am crushed!
Couldn't tell how red Opie's hair was in the Black and White episodes wow
Very Enjoyable Video 😊
Wow! I wish I had videos of my dad. Unfortunately, he passed in 86 way before video cameras, and VCRs were mainstream
Very touching reminisces from Clint Howard about his mother and father pictured together at 7:25 .
They are a great family. Rance and Jean were the nicest people.
Combat was filmed at Myers Lake also.
The Myers Lake setting was used previously by Ozzie Nelson on his TV show and probably other programs as well .
ALWAYS a fan, you all made good tv
Thanks!
Nice to see “Nice Dress Nellie” at the lake
Don't look back Mrs. Lesh
earnest t bass was pretty cool.....i always jammed with the darlins...boil that gabbage down bake those biscuits brown...
Clint seems like one cool dude.👍👍🇺🇸
I just realized that Opie and Leon's dad was the limo driver in the Governor car episode
And a few other episodes, too.
I've all way send these messages about refuse to show the color episodes, to me they're really enjoyable 6
And nobody was looking at cell phones
I liked Clint's portrayal of the "LA De-Nogginizer" on Seinfeld.
Right just hilarious...good person family 👍
Betty Lynn was a doll. She was very attractive, I can't believe she never married. She would have been very sought after in my book. Most attractive on the show.

Nice it's beautiful ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you! Cheers!
WAS BARNEYS FIRST CAR REALLY A LEMON? IT LOOKS LIKE A BEAUTIFUL CAR!
Gomer found a lot of problems with it. 😂
Doesn't run on coal.
❤
Barney's first car episode in the front yard with Mrs. Maisch
Barney's first car. I smell gas. Me too. I do to. Alright you all smell gas. What do you think this thing runs on coal!!??😂
Andy Griffith made one of the best movies of the 50s, A Face in the Crowd. Did he create The Andy Griffith Show to counter the image of rural America depicted in that film?
Despite it taking place in present day 1960s, The Andy Griffith Show was meant to feel like the 1930s era he grew up in.
At 8:21 Andy getting cozy with Helen. I guess those affair rumors were true.
I never knew Leon and Opie were brothers irl
Is that one of the stars of Jurassic World in this photo? 7:24
Nice catch!
Evan the South doesn't look that way that looks like California just like the old westerns
Andy loved helen.................in real life......lol.
"Mom wasn't the greatest of cooks. We ate a lot of canned vegetables. And canned vegetables are probably not the most nutritious food." WHAT? Has to be much more nutritious than processed ready made foods.
Not that it's relevant to the topic, but....no, not really, esp as "processed foods" is extremely vague. They vary widely.
4th
Andy always looks irritated n these videos, nothing like his character.
He was working. And with it being his show, it was kinda stressful. But what a great actor!
