I found out as an adult that my neighbors let my dad pre-assemble our toys at their house when we were kids. They were an older couple and they were angels.
I loved that part. And the looks on the kids' faces as they waited for his reaction...and he says he loves them and they celebrate and go and hug him...that was incredibly moving.
I definitely agree. SNL always nails these holiday skits. Also, I wonder what music track they used. That piano they used in the sketch was the most beautiful thing I heard in the world.

My dad used to joke like that to my older sister when she was a kid because she looked half white and half Asian(we are Mexican and of a darker skin tone) and it got to the point that my sister started to believe it and got really freaked out . My mom made my dad to stop using that joke lol

However, looking at the percent distribution, it evens out a lot more. You can also notice how some crimes occur more in certain people groups.

The best thing, that I haven't seen anyone comment on yet, is that what makes the day great is that the husband and wife love and support each other. So rare these days! At the end when he gets up to take care of the kids and let her relax, that's really showing love!
I'm in my late 30's but the 8 year old boy in me laughed so hard when Damon got the fart in the face. This skit beautifully encapsulates the beauty/horror that is the Christmas holiday.
Strong has become the "glue" player of this era's cast, as was Dan Aykroyd, Phil Hartman, and Will Ferrell from past eras. Hartman explained the "glue" player basically as the character in most skits who pulls it all together in terms of tone and sensibility. He/she has the presence to pull the audience into the skit's world so that they buy the premise.
We have 3 lovely kids ages 4, 6, & 9 and I can say with 100% certainty that Matt Damon building that damn playhouse & then kicking it down in the middle of the night is accurate AF. LOL!!!! (Dec. 2018) **Update: This weekend my husband I assembled these damn loft beds with desks underneath. We had to do TWO, for both of our girls. And YES, it was a nightmare!!!! (Jan. 2021) **2nd Update: Hubs & I got the kids, now ages 8, 10, & 13, a trampoline this summer. It was 96* with 90% humidity that day. It almost resulted in broken fingers, two heat strokes, a divorce, and at least one child (13 boy) being shipped to boarding school. I also stepped in dog shit twice. Barefoot. The holidays are near. Send prayers!! (Nov. 2022) ***3rd Update: Y'all are so funny & sweet and want more updates. No big projects but here's our past weekend. Hubs set up (used) Roomba which tumbled down basement stairs (WTH sensors??), I abandoned two Jack's frozen pizzas in the oven for 50 minutes (15 is plenty!!) and almost burned the kitchen down, washed daughter's (9) hoodie with tub of loose glitter in pocket (washer is a hot mess), same daughter (9) painted a canvas and somehow laid it face down on carpet and stepped on it so I had to Scrub carpet only to stand up so fast & hit my head so hard on damn loft bed (see above) that I saw birds, other daughter (10) puked IN my hands, hubs got Roomba running back on main level only for it to knock down & shatter my favorite window picture frame on an easel in my foyer (WTF sensors???) So I yelled "Get this f**king robot out of here!!!" And the sound of the slam scared my dog so much that he actually sharted on my wall, my son (13) fell down the stairs with his basketball, & we had to order actual pizza because ours was burnt. My champagne was extra tasty that night. Typical weekend around here!! Stressed & blessed ❤❤ (Feb. 2023) ***Merry Christmas, y'all!! Girls are now almost 11 & 12, son is 15. SO proud that he got all A's on his first final exams ever as a freshman, A's in all classes too. Youngest glued her fingers together with nail glue that I banned and she snuck anyway, then blamed ME for her pain. Kids got brand new bedroom upgrades this Fall. Two coats of primer and two coats of paint per room, took 6 days, my back was broken. But kids are grateful and rooms look great! No longer slobs. Girls dance constantly and are obsessed with skincare crap. Youngest makes aggressive eye contact while dancing, but then wiped out the other day and hit her head. Wouldn't talk to me when I kept laughing. Middle love is a bookworm who will fight her siblings like a cat if they mess too much. Doggie snarled & snapped at MIL last night because even HE was ready for her to leave. Hubs got us EBikes so I can get up the hill. I will bedazzle my helmet I guess. Both cars broke down at the same time, everyone had pnemonia at Thanksgiving, boomers had a political fight with us Christmas morning. Great times! One kid needs braces, one will get his learner's permit, youngest is obsessed with looking in the mirror. I have discoverrd a faint mustache. I match my son. Life is good!! Cheers y'all ❤❤ (12/25/24)
I distinctly remember my father saying, on multiple occasions, "It would literally be easier if I just built one myself," and my mother would reasonably say, "You are, honey," and he would irately respond, "FROM WOOD."

I always told my sister we found here in a dumpster or under a tree. My parents were not adopting anyone. She would never believe that. And she cried every time too!

One thing I love about this is what an incredible actress Cecily is. This isn’t sketch comedy acting. This is actually looking like a mom who was woken up too early and is blinking off sleep sitting on the couch. Same vibes as the James Franco homeless sketch - she is just SO believable in every situation. She’s just left SNL and I hope to see her in a mainstream movie sometime soon. She has that talent.
It doesn’t have to be like that. My family isn’t perfect, but we typically only experience that level of dysfunction briefly and very infrequently, My daughter’s father and I are separated, but we’re friends, His family is mostly on the other side of the country. And we only see extended family on Xmas eve, but it’s pleasant. My close family members get along and have very similar political views. Overall, holiday shit is fun, especially when we remember not to sweat the small stuff or give in to consumerism. It’s sad that family means misery for so many people. It should be the best part of life.
The part where the children ran into the bedroom and woke up the parents reminded me of myself when I was a child. I would run in to my parents bedroom at 5 o clock in the morning and wake up my mom and dad and my dad would start cursing and telling me to go back to bed. That part had me dying laughing! The majority of that skit I lived it when I was married. I am now divorced and Christmas is very peaceful every year. It's amazing how truth can be very funny. LOL🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣

***Merry Christmas, y'all!! Girls are now almost 11 & 12, son is 15. SO proud that he got all A's on his first final exams ever as a freshman, A's in all classes too. Youngest glued her fingers together with nail glue that I banned and she snuck anyway, then blamed ME for her pain. Kids got brand new bedroom upgrades this Fall. Two coats of primer and two coats of paint per room, took 6 days, my back was broken. But kids are grateful and rooms look great! No longer slobs. Girls dance constantly and are obsessed with skincare crap. Youngest makes aggressive eye contact while dancing, but then wiped out the other day and hit her head. Wouldn't talk to me when I kept laughing. Middle love is a bookworm who will fight her siblings like a cat if they mess too much. Doggie snarled & snapped at MIL last night because even HE was ready for her to leave. Hubs got us EBikes so I can get up the hill. I will bedazzle my helmet I guess. Both cars broke down at the same time, everyone had pnemonia at Thanksgiving, boomers had a political fight with us Christmas morning. Great times! One kid needs braces, one will get his learner's permit, youngest is obsessed with looking in the mirror. I have discoverrd a faint mustache. I match my son. Life is good!! Cheers y'all ❤❤ (12/25/24)

One thing I love about this is what an incredible actress Cecily is. This isn’t sketch comedy acting. This is actually looking like a mom who was woken up too early and is blinking off sleep sitting on the couch. Same vibes as the James Franco homeless sketch - she is just SO believable in every situation. She’s just left SNL and I hope to see her in a mainstream movie sometime soon. She has that talent.

It doesn’t have to be like that. My family isn’t perfect, but we typically only experience that level of dysfunction briefly and very infrequently, My daughter’s father and I are separated, but we’re friends, His family is mostly on the other side of the country. And we only see extended family on Xmas eve, but it’s pleasant. My close family members get along and have very similar political views. Overall, holiday shit is fun, especially when we remember not to sweat the small stuff or give in to consumerism. It’s sad that family means misery for so many people. It should be the best part of life.

The part where the children ran into the bedroom and woke up the parents reminded me of myself when I was a child. I would run in to my parents bedroom at 5 o clock in the morning and wake up my mom and dad and my dad would start cursing and telling me to go back to bed. That part had me dying laughing! The majority of that skit I lived it when I was married. I am now divorced and Christmas is very peaceful every year. It's amazing how truth can be very funny. LOL🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
