I am a pencil nerd myself - albeit a closeted one. But after looking at some of your UA-cam videos, I got inspired to talk about my pens in front of the camera, too! Anyway, I have been searching for the 'perfect' pencil for handwriting and sketching and have been keen on Blackwing and Tombow. How would you rank these between, for instance, the Camel?
Greetings -- this is a complicated question, because you have a few requirements of which has not a right solution - I love the Camel - the form factor the quality, the uniqueness of the pencil and the quality of the finish - and of course it's an HB of some degree. I say degree as all HB ratings are somewhat different between MFG's. The same with the Blackwing series - but they are all pretty soft, even the hardest versions are still pretty soft. Ok -- the Tombow is a bit of a different story - and I'll lump in the Mitsubishis also - they have multiple different hardness' available - the whole spectrum and for sketching these would be your best bet as you have crazy choices for all aspects of the sketch - outlining, shading, darkness etc... I would just explore and expand the pencil cup and find what really fits the task. It's a crazy cool exploration of what MFG's value in their product - what MFG's push and how they do and why they may do certain things.
Thank you for your suggestions. I will look into it. Meanwhile, I have got myself a pack of Mitsubishi 9800 (B), which I really like. And one piece each of: Derwent Graphic HB, Grafwood Caran D'ache B, Pitt Graphite Matt from FC, also HB. Just to get a feeling of what suits me. I have parallell to this ordered a few others as well, will see how they turn out. Thanks again for a great channel.
@@janmalmstrom7843 Take a look at AliExpress also -- there are great options there for Triangle pencils some of which I've reviewed on the channel -- and Ebay has some great options like the Camlin Supreme HD's ... a great thicked core construction.
Wonderful collection. Some square pencils too!
Thanks EP -- here is a review of my top ... the Chopstick Pencil -- crazy good and square - ua-cam.com/video/OW_50mRerPc/v-deo.html
Hoping to see more of that collection!
