Yes. Neither man was quite the same force ever again. Ibeabuchi survived those relentless, monstrous blows from Tua, which beggars belief. Conversely, Tua absorbed everything Ibeabuchi threw at him. Tua would have blasted out any other heavyweight with those shots. Should have been a draw.
Now I'm also feeling a headache, dizzyness and having visions of inter-dimensional entities after watching these two warriors trying to knock each other's heads off for 12 rounds in that ring.
*When "The President" Nigerian Ike Ibeabuchi met "The Tuamanator" Samoan David Tua the Nigerian got out to an insanely fast start, throwing 91 punches in round one according to CompuBox, 91 again in round two, and 95 in round three, obscene numbers for a Heavyweight. By the final bell, Ibeabuchi and Tua had combined to throw 1,730 punches, breaking the Heavyweight record set by Ali vs. Frazier III, when they combined for 1,591 punches - in 14 rounds, two rounds more than Ibeabuchi and Tua had to work with. Ike threw 975 punches, the most ever by a single Heavyweight. Both fighters had a brawling fight style, they were both 24 years old at the time of this epic "tribal" battle and they were both undefeated going in to this fight. 226lb Tua's record stood at 27-0-0 23KO's while 236lb Ibeabuchi's record stood at 16-0-0 12KO's.* This fight is the stuff that dreams were made of. Two Super Heavyweight warriors stood toe to toe exhibiting exceptional heart and endurance. Both boxers threw bombs and neither took a backward step. After the fight Ibeabuchi complained of a headache and was taken to a hospital. He underwent several tests including an MRI scan but nothing abnormal was found and was immediately released. A week after the fight Tua had surgery to remove bone chips from his left elbow. And Ike's in🎃sanity had nothing to do with anything he injested lik-roids, he was too paranoid of medications to take anything illegal. Ike was an anomaly, one in a million. No heavyweight of his generation possessed more ability. He was a prodigy. He had amazing power. He had fierce determination and he had no fear of anybody, and he believed that he was the King, that nobody could beat him. He’d walk into the ring and you would almost have this vision of a bull coming at a matador with the steam coming out of the nostrils. You have to be a person, you have to be sane, you have to comport yourself with some kind of dignity and some kind of grace in order to realize that type of reward, and he couldn’t do it." 21 months later, 245lb Ibeabuchi confirmed that he was indeed the best up-and-coming heavyweight on the planet by knocking out undefeated 26-0 quick and slick southpaw Chris Byrd. Ibeabuchi was 20-0 with 15 knockouts, only 26 years old .. and he never fought again. Byrd: "I got a little arrogant, thinking I’m unhittable. Cause I just thought, Oh man, he can’t hit me! I’m gonna slip everything. And, boom, just got caught. When I got knocked down the first time, I got, literally, the canvas woke me up. I was asleep before I hit the ground, and when I hit the canvas it woke me up. I asked the referee why he stopped the fight? What are you doing? "The bell rung!" But my bell was still ringing, that’s what was ringing, was my bell." 245lb Ike Ibeabuchi would have been the heir to Lennox Lewis throne. The Klitschko's would have been gate keepers if he was around. Ike was a Super Heavyweight with serious power, great speed, chin of iron, a boxer and a brawler, freakish stamina, threw punches in bunches and had a ridiculous work-rate with KO written all over his punches.

After Tua fought Ike despite losing the match on points, he unintentionally impacted Ike's boxing career when Ike complained about hearing demonic voices in his head, possibly influenced by the steroid/drugs he took before the fight as well with Tua's powerful punches landing on top of that, is extremely dangerous in such a situation especially taking multiple and non-stop blows to his head and chin for 36 minutes ...ouch! Imagine Tua knew he was not fighting Ike, but was smashing and knocking out those demons in Ike's head, metaphorically sending him to jail for cheating the system!🤣 There were great moments Tua had Ike off-guard a couple of times, but missed the opportunity to capitalize on that, but Ike quickly recovered. Some argue this fight should have been a draw because both fighters performed admirably awesome. However, Tua should have been awarded the belt when Ike's cheating saga came to light . .sigh! Anyway, those demons must be feeling the pain from the real Samoan power in the head aye! Cheeehoo! 🤣

You hear Gatti-Ward and others mentioned. Castillo and Diego were both in their primes and killers in different ways. From the first bell, it's unmatched
Tyson didn’t avoid anybody! Win or lose. Tyson wasn’t Tyson for a while, but, he’d still fight anyone. Tyson cared for his craft, training and Cus’ D’ Amotto! Tyson fought before that. No man could beat him. But, like all of us, he changed. And did lose. But, he would fight anybody,, anytime

Cheeehoo! 🤣
He didn't "stop" Tua.....so why lie and say he did ?
True
Stopped his roll you know what he ment
@@bobayekadabogeyman9819 "ment" ?
What a boxing match it was, I have great respect for both boxers, because David & IKE was a great on the Ring, I really enjoyed the match,& my opinion is both are even & draw I think,
GOD BLESSED THEM .
One of my favorite fights. I wished they would have fought again.
That was amazing, id have to put it up there with Holyfeild vs Bowe fights.
But what a heavy price many of these guys have to pay.
The brain simply can't take all that pounding.
Best heavyweight bout ever , two great tough guys
There were 5 of Jack Dempseys fights that were better.
Holyfield Bowe fights were better @@danielbrown3461
This guy was an absolute savage. I was so excited when this guy came through! Shame it ended how it did.
Astounding cardio!!!
Astounding roids by rapist Ike Iroidabuchi.
Both fighters : "let's block with our faces shall we?"
Ike was a perfect fighter, but he ruined his talent. I agree, if Tyson had met him, this fight would have gone down in history as legendary
Unfortunately, here was a very scary man both in and out of the ring. And it’s unfortunate that we’ll never know what could have been.
absolutely true Ike Ibeabuchi was a real beast, he was a monster
i like how he never used his longer range and except for a few jabs fought like a man. Anybody else with that height advantage would try to kill Tua from long range while running away and holding constantly
@@masterofnone597 that's what lewis did
lewis stayed out on the outside and kept jabbing to score the points
"No heavyweight of his generation possessed more ability." Nonsense. There were much better fighters than Ibeabuchi around at that time. He was extraordinarily tough, but not a skilled fighter.
@@highdefboxing8056 he had good skills he showed that in the tua fight
This was insane the amount of punches each one ate
Tua had the cleaner shots. He won
Exactement for me DAVID TUA WON
That fight has already been decided.
Could you imagine this guy in a f****** Bar brawl.
These paperweight champs today wouldn't even enter the ring with these type of Gladiators!
I am not sure who really won this fight, they also could have given it to David Tua. It was a hell of a fight!
Exactly It looks like Tua won a lot of his punches was flush and noticeable. The other through a lot of punches and missed slot of punches. I think Tua was robbed that day. He was the champion it should had went to him or at least a draw. I thinks the big dogs nod that time had money on the Nigerian.
Go and watch the whole fight over again, ibeabuchi clearly won.@@taseemedouglas1129
It was unanimous to an unknown so it obvious he won he would have to out work him not just level peg let's hop you watched the fight and not just judge from the clip which would be rediculas
This Was Not A Fight This Was A War Not A Lot Of Breaking or Clinging But Bombs Threw By Both Fighters 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Wow what a battle unreal.
Unfortunately for Tua, he had a huuuuge obsticle in the way of a world title..and that obsticle was Lennox Lewis. In any other era, I think Tua would have been a champion.
I can't say I'm surprised to hear he was having a conversation with the aircon after taking a twelve round pounding to his head from David Tua 😮
Agreed, how are these two unmarked after taking that many blows? No blood no swollen eyes etc. Unreal.
Mega both of these David tuna most humble man in boxing surely just never got the recognition he deserved for his performance and his work in boxing x
Tua was bang average.
?@@mallafets
@@noskoolikeoldskool what title did he ever win? None, as he was not good enough.
@@mallafets he ko'd guys that were former champs.
@@noskoolikeoldskool "former" champs, there is a reason they were that. The slow plodder and one dimensional Tua was never going to hold a title. Get real, he was not very good, just average.
This fight turned Ike Crazy
Any of theses 2 would easily take out AJ or Tyson Fury.. definitely 2 great boxers power punchers
Nothing can diminish the spectacle these two put on for us or the damage they did to each other’s human brain,
the pinnacle of evolution.
This guy made Lennox Lewis great by not getting the chance to knock him out.
Brilliant fight, how did we never see a Tyson Tua fight? it would have been the greatest 2 rounds in history... if it went that long, even a Mercer vs Tua or Tyson vs Mercer!
Too much to lose and little to gain on both sides. I think it was even communicated this way (kind of).
One of the greatest heavyweight fights in history, Tua probably should have won, all the commentators and press had Tua way ahead but that’s boxing.
Imagine Ike fighting Ray Mercer?
Earnie Shavers could have beat Ike.
Those guys are beyond amazing !!!
This is not accurate. Tua was never stopped in his entire career! A stoppage is a KO or TKO not a points loss. The fight went a full 12 rounds, to a narrow points decision with both men standing.
Lennox Lewis beat tuas a$$. That’s a fact 🙌
Best fight I ever seen.
Tua of us a forgotten hero. I don't see why all three judges gave it to ibiabuchi.
Was he from New Zealand maybe that's why foreigners don't get the publicity. Similarly the guy from England that beat Roy.
rigged, cedric cushner ,say no more😢
Great fight NO grappling or holding. AWESOME
74 inches tall? Is that a joke? Why not say 6ft 1.
Why would he say 6' 1 when its 6'2
He fought Tua like Holyfield fought Tyson. He neutralized Tua's money punch and utilized his jab the whole fight to keep Tua at bay.
Tua was Holyfield's spar partner for the Tyson fight
@@LiiaTaumiti weird coincidence lol
Hell of a fighters
Tua was a real worrior
The Tua fight turned him into a psycho
He was allready partially psycho. He just didn't seek help.
I was at this fight at Arco Arena. We had sat ringside all night. Tony Lopez was by us and said he was going up above the tunnel so he could watch the fight without get mobbed for pictures and autographs. We followed up him. Great view being up about level withe the ring. This is the lowkeyed best fight I'd ever watched. Jose Luis Castillo-Diego Corrales is the greatest I ever witnessed in person or otherwise. You hear Gatti-Ward and others mentioned. Castillo and Diego were both in their primes and killers in different ways. From the first bell, it's unmatched
Tua should've won that fight
Both of them dudes looked just as clean, leaving the ring as they did entering the ring! Wow
It’s wild fight
Ike was hospitalised after this fight with headaches😮 brain was rocked
U talking shit
@@positiveblack005 nah I’m not talking shit buddy
Tyson didn’t avoid anybody! Win or lose. Tyson wasn’t Tyson for a while, but, he’d still fight anyone. Tyson cared for his craft, training and Cus’ D’ Amotto! Tyson fought before that. No man could beat him. But, like all of us, he changed. And did lose. But, he would fight anybody,, anytime
When he came out of prison he was never the same fighter.
The President juiced to the eyeballs and Tua still ate
