    My boyfriend just started St James today. We will not be going to St Vincent until January due to the current pandemic. I was wondering what you did for a cell phone while you were out of the country? I'm trying to prepare for the move. Thanks!

    •  4 роки тому

      St. James just lost accreditation or they’re on probation or something like that. Maybe you both should rethink it.

    Ross vs SGU. I got into both, planned to go to Ross but SGU have been reaching out that I reconsider. Any advice will be great (note, I am not a US or Canadian citizen, if that helps)

    Do you have a sense of the rates of US-IMG's matching into Residency would be like for today's Caribbean matriculants? As in what will the future be like for Caribbean students matching back in the states (Classes of 2022 onwards)

    • @drkcmiller
      @drkcmiller  6 років тому +1

      It increases every year which is very encouraging! Google "NRMP Director Survey" or "NRMP Charting Outcomes", the most recent stats are from 2016 but it'll help you out. Match rate is much lower for IMGs than AMGs but you can see the relevant numbers from those 2 docs.

      Any issues with Attrition rate? or is a high attrition rate standard for these schools? Thanks for the reply.

    • @drkcmiller
      @drkcmiller  6 років тому +1

      Attrition rate is high across the boards at Caribbean schools by comparison to US MD programs, but the percent varies heavily by school. A lot of them will actually post somewhere on their website how many students per class they retain from MS1-4, though usually hidden somewhere that no one will find 😂. In general, the schools with the highest amount of application pre-reqs (eg. MCAT, premed pre-reqs, experience in the field, etc.), the lower the attrition.

    Hey I am an Indian medical aspirant and I want to come to carribean medical schools for my Medical studies. There is one particular caribbean medical school, Spartan health & Science university in st. Lucia which is getting crazy promoted in my country by a lot of admission agents. I heard many of their grads are actually doing good and working as a physician in many states of the US. Is this university legitimately good for my prospects of my future as a doctor in US? I am confused and sceptic that I might be fooled by these admission agents, so I might ask it from an actual expert. Will appreciate your help and response 🙂

    how do you determine if a school is accredited besides the schools website.. i had trouble navigating the website. is this something you could cover?

    • @drkcmiller
      @drkcmiller  6 років тому +1

      You have to call the school admissions and be very direct. Sometimes they will skate around the question, that's when you know something's up. I'd recommend joining their campus Facebook groups so you can ask students enrolled directly!

      IF you are going to go Caribbean, stick to Ross or SGU.

    • @vanhoot2234
      @vanhoot2234 6 років тому

      in general yes... but there are a few additional schools for example UMHS was started by the makers of Ross. And they have georgia accreditation which no other schools have ... but again it all depends.. as a general rule of thumb stick to those two and you get what you pay for ... including with time and effort.

    • @nathan_2780
      @nathan_2780 6 років тому +1

      +vanhoot2234 First of all, that is not how accreditation works.
      Starting the graduation year of 2023, all International Medical Schools must be "appropriately" accredited by 2023 ECFMG requirements. After you decide on a school that is accredited by the WFME, (U.S. LCME standards) than it's up to you to decide which of the medical schools appropriately accredited you want to attend. Based on where you can practice, rotation sites, attrition rates, USMLE prep, research, etc...
