Thanks Chris! Great video. The tin foils really do make a huge difference in diffusing aggression. They also can draw out more shy fish to actually get out and swim around.
My mom had Red-fin Tinfoil Barbs back in the 70's and 80's. Beautiful active fish. She had goldfish with them in a 20 gallon tank for years. What I remember is they were very healthy and happy. They got pretty big. I enjoyed watching them very much, especially watching them eat.
Glass mason jars with the clamping lids work great for food. They come in all different sizes. The TF barbs are great fish. Several years ago I bought 3 juvies and grew them out together. They were so active! Very hardy too. So fun to keep if ya have a tank large enough
You are absolutely right about what you said. I have a huge tinfoil and he does indeed regulate the aggression of my cichlids. I didn’t know this, but discovered it over time by mixing different species.
I have two of the albino tin foils and the red/orange in there fins is almost crystalline in look and they just shimmer so beautifully with there gorgeous large silver scales. These guys are like my little water puppies. Love watching them swim and use all the tank space up. Such a beautiful fish. Sad seeing all them at the pet stores as surrenders. But god do I love mine.
in my opinion they are a fantastic fish to own I have 3 of them and they are not aggressive at all i have them with two green terrors and they hold there own and don't bug any other fish
At a few of my local asian markets you can buy frozen 8 inch tinfoil barbs and 2 foot frozen clown knifes Ps clown knife tastes good from my personal experience
I have a barn and a oscar and they are beasties it's funny how they are great together I have a green terror too and the barb is the peace keeper I call mine tarrettes
I think the barbs are awesome. far the best fish I have between cichlids, haps, fire mouth, jack Dempsey, catfish four lines cat, spotted cat which the spotted catfish is about as crazy as the barbs
I had a large silver shark an a very large tinfoil and the constantly chased each other relentlessly... My missus woke me up one morning and both were dead, I think the stressed each other out to much??
well I am new to this hobby. I have 4 tiny barbs and a knife fish almost to my palm size, community was at peace in my tank. but a friend gave me two big tinfoil barb and I find my tank is at 🔥. my knife fish is chasing them vigorously. I am afraid.
These Tin Foil barbs are ass holes. They will eat everything. EVERYTHING. All of your plants and anything that moves half it's size will be eaten. They are ass holes and I love them.
I have two. They are so hard to come by in Australia. Price range here is from $40 to $100 lol. You guys in America are spoilt for choice, variety and price. I wanna create a huge school of them if at least 8 yo 10. Great fish.
Those fish of Ricks are NOT redtail tinfoil barbs, they are another sub species of larger tinfoils that reach 14 inches and more. Cant remember the name though.
Any Room in your house, or the inside of your car is a reflection of you. You Tubers, please stop making excuses for being messy. If your house and cars is a mess, your tank is a mess. How busy are you? I have surrendered those Barbs, and Angel Fish before because I didn’t know how big they get. I don’t purchase those fish anymore. Black Fin Sharks also get big. Aquarium store should disclose that information before they consume your Neon Tetras. Barbs keep the smaller fish schooling. My beautiful White Angel Fish was peaceful. One day my Neon’s were disappearing, until I saw the Angel eat a couple before my eyes. I got top dollar for it. He was beautiful and healthy.
red tail tinfoil barb they are SO GENTLE never attack other.. i love them SO MUCH they can live 25 years
I have 2 that I'm guessing I've had for about 18 years so far.

First time I disagree with you, tinfoil barbs are the coolest, it's cool how there are so docile even when they get fully grown.
