    Tip: Don’t ever angle that spring tool. The head of the spring tool should be pointing directly toward the flat surface you are work on. Otherwise you are risking of scratching the inside of your lug in case you slip. That happened to me😢

      There's a special tool for those, I highly recommend them.

      @@HonestWatchReviewsHWR I don't know the name for sure , but I think they're called springbar pliers. There's a tool where you can pinch both ends at the same time, like a pair of tweezers with sprinbar tools at each end. Works great.

    • @HonestWatchReviewsHWR
      @HonestWatchReviewsHWR 4 роки тому +4

      @@StuntpilootStef I just googled now... Apparently they're just called spring bar tweezers. Thanks for making me awake of these. I definitely need to get some. It'll make it a lot easy.
      As a side note, just to let know, I'm doing a watch giveaway on my channel if you want to check it out.

      That is another system, bracelets and straps are differerent ! And buy yourself such a kit on AliExpres, 10€, what I did myself already with that, costed me 100€ at a jewellery, and I find this relaxing, satisfying work.

  • @surfitli
    @surfitli 4 роки тому +39

    Very well done.
    From my experience, using masking tape on the back of the watch lugs can save you from scratching the back of the watch.
    Also, I have used the pointed end to compress the spring bR when installing, I find it easier but there is more of a chance for scratches.

    Great info! I have a question: I'm having real trouble finding wrist bands of the correct size for my watch, which is inconveniently at 19mm. Could 18mm bands work for my watch, or would the 1mm difference fuck things up? (I don't suppose sizing up would be wise.) Asking before making a potentially stupid purchase.

    Thank you - I just purchased a vintage watch - it had drilled lugs but the spring bar doesn’t seem to budge - in addition- the spring bar doesn’t seem to have that ridge… I’m pretty experienced with strap change outs, but I’m stumped. I guess when the leather strap gets old I may have to cut those derned spring bars and hope that they haven’t become somewhat glued over the years at the lugs - ughs😂
