- Saw this nifty "life-hack" (or at least "strap-hack") a while back. It's so elegant and useful I decided to share it with all you guys! Back in the day when I was starting this hobby, I tried to figure out ways to do this. None of the popular channels I followed at the time showed this method and I think it's so good that it should be spread as much as possible! So here you go, good luck!
I've paired up with a few affordable watchband brands, if you want to get a strap and help me out in the process!

Thanks for the kind words! I appreciate it, really :) Glad to hear it was useful.
How can people dislike this video? It was extremely helpful thanks a lot :)
Beats me😂 So glad to hear that mate :)
@Sazo uh UA-cam vanced.

This is such a great video. I just wanted to switch out bands & had no extra pins. If I didn't cut myself, break a nail or scratch my watch I'd end up losing the pins! This is simple & easy & saved me from having to buy a package of pins just to use 2. I used waxed dental floss & the pin stuck to it until I needed to attach it to the band. No more lost pins! Thanks so much!
My pleasure mate! Glad to hear that it was useful :)
Dental floss broke, as did 15-lb fish line!
My problem last night was a battery that thought it was a jumping bean! Still haven't found the bloody thing!
Andy, I got a needle and just picked at the floss - it eventually loosened up OK.
@@mojobena Heather were you changing the batteries on Big Ben lol 😆
Wow, that was a demonstration I put to use half-way through the video. I had a band that was so tight, I couldn't get a tool in between the leather. That's what made me look for some youtube advice. This works fantastic. I'll never bother even attempting any other way forever. No scratches and simple as hell! Thank you so much!
Hearing this makes me very happy :) cheers mate!
ok

You saved me from having to go to a jeweler shop. This was super helpful. Thank you so much!🤣
Very glad to hear that! My pleasure! :)
Very well explained with very clear filming. Normally these videos are done too fast with hands in the way or out of focus. Well done 👏
Glad it was helpful! And thank you very much for the feedback. I really appreciate it :)
💯👌 agreed! Simple and well “filmed” demonstration! Congrats!
Have got question @NordicWatchChannel , are your 2 Stitch Straps only available in 20 mm ? Tudor BB Pelagos is 22 or GMT ! Do you have it available plus are they curved into “case” ? Leather or Sailcloth or kind of the original fabric “nato” for Tudor Pro a black with yellow stripe or Black with red/burgundy stripe
Do you sent it to Portugal-Algarve ?
No discounts …. Colareb leather straps are top ! And less expensive plus discount… available and free shipping!
Kind regards,
José
Thanks for the kind feedback! I think this is a misunderstanding, as I don't sell straps myself. There' a brand in Finland I have referenced sometimes, Noric Watch Straps (I know, the name is very similar and could as well be my brand haha) but I don't sell straps. Colareb are awesome!
Love hacks like these! What a beautifully simple and effective workaround!🎉
Glad you liked it! :)
Thank you, I gave a spring tool in a watch kit, but I didn’t know how to do it, saved me soo much time thank you!
That’s great! My pleasure :)
this is CRAZY i literally just watched this video and tried and it works! such a relief, thank you so much man!!
Awesome to hear that! My pleasure! :)
I'll admit I was sceptical at first, but it actually works! Every time!
Thanks for the tip, I've subscribed - not only because of this video, but for all the useful content.
Really happy to hear that! Thrilled to have you on board as a subscriber, welcome mate!
What a simple and great idea. Many thanks for posting this.
My pleasure mate!
Thank you! I got my brand new watch caught on something and it pulled one side of the band off. After watching this video I was able to fix it. Yay!!
Glad I could help! Good job mate 8)
Great tutorial, I literally changed my watch strap using the method you showed.
Glad to hear that!🙂
I was skeptical at first, but this totally worked!! Pull the dental floss hard. Thank you so much for posting!!!
Glad to hear it worked out! My pleasure :)
This is one of the best video tutorials ever. He talks you through it WITH such clear visuals.....and it's so inventive as a solution!
Wow! Thanks a lot for those kind words :) Really appreciate it!
That would be 100$ sir. Btw the video was the one i was looking for it really helped me so much I was searching for a good video i found this and now i finally changed my watch starp
Glad I could help! Thanks for the comment :)
Thank you so much. Changed the strap smoothly with the floss 😊
Awesome! Glad to hear that! My pleasure :)
Cool little hack there. Thanks for showing this
My pleasure mate! It’s actually so handy I use it sometime instead of a spring bar tool😁 I like that it doesn’t damage the strap👍🏻
This is a great method, surprisingly easy and effective
Thanks! It's a good way to not damage the straps!
Very helpful video! Finally managed to get both straps off. Thank you!:)
Glad to hear that! My pleasure🙂 Cheers!
Wonderful idea! While dental floss failed, I used 10lb fishing monofilament line, which is much more durable. The spring bar popped out with a slight pull. Tip: Use garden gloves to protect your hands and for steadiness. A white dish towel under your work area helps.
Good tips! Thank you for sharing :)
Well said! It will cut your skin like “butter” !
Wow, that was really easy! Tried it on my Seiko. Got a new Citizen Promaster watch coming and was thinking of having a rubber strap for it that I can swap out when I want to. Thanks!
Yeah it is! Glad I could help mate!
Amazing! You saved me so much bother and frustration. Worked like a charm. Sincere thanks.
So glad to hear that! My pleasure mate :)
Saved me a trip to a jeweler or buying a tool, thank you!
Awesome! Glad I could help :)
Usually I use one of the smallest Swiss knives for that and it works just fine.

This is Brilliant!! Thank you So much...I have saved this video and will use it when my new watch strap comes!
Thank you! Glad to hear that - and my pleasure!
Amazing! So easy and helpful! Thank you!
Happy to hear that :) my pleasure!
Super clever! Thank you sooooo much for the sharing. It is an amazing tips for watch lovers indeed!👍👍👍👍👍
Very glad to hear that 😊 thanks for the love!🙌🏼
A very helpful video and the floss method works very well. Just be sure to take enough to wrap around all 4 fingers as this otherwise can slip when trying to wrap around a finger. After removing the strap using this method I actually find changing straps a whole lot easier now.
I agree, it's easier than fiddling with tools and making scratches🤓 Good tip, thanks for sharing it!
You can wrap the opposite end around a pen or pencil and use that to pull without hurting your fingers.
I don't usually "like" UA-cam videos but this one is immensely helpful. Thanks!
Thrilled to hear that! Thanks for that mate :)
Absolutely stunning advice, thank you!
Haha glad to hear that! Thank you for the kind words!
The piece of information, İ needed was that spring thing in the needle! That's all 👍
Glad to hear it was useful :)
thanks for a truly great video. Changing the straps is not half as complicated as I thought.
My pleasure mate! It’s really easy once you do it one time :)
I have a number of takeaways from your video. I had the tool you had. I don’t know where I got it, or what it could be used for. I was not to adept at first with the tool, so I tried the dental floss. I could not get it to come out. When I placed the watch upside down, I saw the a small knob at one end of the bar in a small slot in the bang. I used the tool to move the knob, and everything came off immediately. I regularly replaced my band with a dark brown style. I never threw out the previous one, so I combined the existing side with the perforations with the old one with the buckle and the two loops still decent! You really have to stare at the watch to figure out they are not a matched pair. Thanks for a very nice confidence building video to take this task on.
Sorry for not checking all the spelling and some missing words.
Glad to hear that it all worked out! Haha, no worries mate!
Really cool tutorial. Helped me a lot at 1am while I was trying to measure the springbars of my watch. Thank you ⌚
Also, since I've seen you answer comments, if the lenght of my springbar is 24, can I buy a 22 strap and use the old bars? My old strap broke and I want to buy a new one. Thanks, much love ♥
Thank you! Glad to hear that. Hmm using a 22mm strap with 24mm springbars? Sure that can be done, but you will end up with 2mm of gap between the strap edge and the inside edge of the lug🤔
But you should measure the width of the gap between the lugs, not the springbar itself. The sizes are given according to the gap they are supposed to fit. Since they are compressed when put on the watch, a 22mm lugwidth springbar is wider than 22mm..
@@NordicWatchChannel Ah, I see. 😅 Measured it properly this time. Thanks a lot.
No prob mate!👌
thank you very much… You're a professional I can tell and I appreciate you being here
You're welcome! Hahah well.. I'm no pro but I'm flattered!
Thanks to your video, I managed to get both springs without damaging them. Cheers 🍻
Thrilled to hear that! Cheers mate!
Watched this and when i realized I had no floss, i just used my nails.
Oh well, whatever works :D
this is a great tip, my teeth have never been cleaner
Very nice😂
OMG I just did it so smoothly! Thank you!
Nice! My pleasure!
Absolutely great tip. Easy and works.
Thanks! Glad to hear that :)
Nice trick! However, being female and working without gloves, I find that my fingernails work well enough - better than the cheap tool that comes with Chinese spring bars.
Thanks! That sounds very useful! No chance for me to do that😂
So glad I found this. I had a tool on order at Amazon but I cancelled it and had my watch band removed within minutes.
Glad to hear that! You still might need that tool later on for bracelets and stuff tho :)
Just want to say a massive thanks 👍just the video I needed, all credit goes to you mate, quality instruction and video.
Very glad to hear that mate, thanks! It's my pleasure, really :)
Brilliant, just what I was looking for! Thank you!
Fun! My pleasure mate :)
Thank you so much for making this video. I have successfully attached the strap without any damages
Glad to hear that! My pleasure :)
The dental floss trick is EFFING GENIUS. I wish I had come to your channel before damaging the band to a very high-end watch I have. And I have a watch repair kit!!!! Those dumb metal tools should be outlawed. Thank you!!!!
Glad to hear you likes it!! Bummer to hear that the band got damaged. Oh well, next time it won’t :)
Worked like a charm. Thank you. Saved a few dollars.
Glad to hear that! A dollar saved is always good :)
Worked like charm! Thank you!
That's great! My pleasure :)
that is an awesome trick! I used a thread for sewing clothes and it worked just fine, almost broke my nails and the watch before I found your video🤣
Thats awesome :) thanks for letting me know that it worked with thread also!
Amazing. Worked for me, thanks so much!

Excellent! Glad to hear it helped :)

Thank you once again!

Great tip, the floss really worked. Thanks.
Glad to hear that! My pleasure mate!
I had a spring bar tool and had damaged my Seiko straps with it and still had issues getting it off. This helped me get it off quickly and without any further damage to watch and strap. fully recommend 👍
Bummed to hear that you damaged the strap! Glad to hear that you would recommend this method :)
Wow! The dental floss trick worked like a charm. Thanks for the video!
Glad to hear that! Happy to help! :)

You saved me some money, my dude. Thank you.
My pleasure! Glad to hear that😊
Awesome vid. I even use a rubber band now to replace it. Thanks for the ideas.
Thank you! Glad to hear that 🙂
Ha, that's actually quite brilliant. No matter if you have the best Bergeon tool, sometimes this would work better. Happy New Year! Gott Nytt År och God Fortsättning!
Haha yes this is actually a surprisingly smooth method and will not damage the strap😁 Sadly it won’t really work with bracelets.. maybe a thinner thread could work! Gott Nytt År till dig med! :)
What an incredible guide! Worked perfect on my Tissot PR50 Sport where the leather strap is impossibly tight to the lug. No way that's coming off with a tool without damage. The string worked flawless.
Music to my ears! Thanks for the feedback :)
Works perfectly! Thank you
That’s awesome! My pleasure! :)
This is very helpful! Thank you!!
My pleasure :)
Amazing.I did the same and it works 100%. Thank yoy my friend!

Thank you! Excellent tip
Glad it was helpful! :)
WOAHH IT WORKED SO GOOD!
Glad to hear that :)
I couldn't get the floss thing to work, but from watching this, I realised I had a tool similar to a spring bar tool and managed to get the old strap off Getting the new bracelet on was much more challenging! Took numerous attempts, and many times getting down on the floor to look for the spring bar that had sprung away! :)
Bummer! Haha the flying springbars is such a classic😂 been there, done that mate!
oh wow😮 thanks a lot sir this video is super helpful!
Glad it was helpful! My pleasure!
This was very helpful, thank you! I didn't need to worry about my old strap getting damaged coz it was tatty anyway, so I could use a knife without being overly careful!
Ok, glad to hear that you were successful with that method too :)
Thank you!!! These techniques work well!!!
My pleasure! Glad to hear that :)
It was really useful. Thanks

Let me know if you ever need some plumbing tips LOL.
Haha that’s awesome! Glad to hear that mate👍🏻 I’ll keep that in mind and come search for this comment if I need plumbing tips😂
