The cover photo is a VF-1 builder that mounted an R1 Engine and the thing is a MONSTER, thank you Allen for sharing your build with us; and thank you to all of the builders sharing their builds and knowledge. A lot of frames going together and I have a natural tendency to look for trends and ways to improve processes. This video is to make assembling your VF-1 or any of the VF's easier and more enjoyable. The Facebook Group for plan holders only is really bringing good ideas and techniques to light. All of the builds are so awesome and this adventure is crazy cool, a huge thank you to everyone. I love that Dave and I could set aside some time to get THREE frames together all just to give away. This is very exciting. See you on the next one.

Do it brother! I am in need of a project, have a quad for suspension and wheels, and will get to building later this year or early next. Then I will get up to speed soon. Love it!! Love competition, and will love getting to know everyone involved and having a blast!
Yeah, I know that’s like I may get an hour or two in the garage a week I fix cars for a living six days a week. I have your plans when you first put them on the Internet and I still haven’t had a chance to build it and you’re right, once you get started, you don’t wanna stop, but that initial start is the hardest!
I love this tip video. It simplifies a number of concerns which should get more to take that first step.
Have you thought about making a pedal assembly kinda like you did with the rear end have the pieces cut out by that company and just weld them together

you are definitely right ya just need to start and there will be parts where things slow down and need to regain interest. I have gathered parts and made all the files so I can use my 4th cnc plasma to cut just haven't started yet. I even found good deals on the carrier bearings if you have time to wait
Sir this kart looks incredible. I've been searching for a kart project for myself and my kids. This beast is absolutely perfect for me and my family. I will be purchasing the plans once I'm back home in a few weeks. You are doing God's work here with this project. It's absolutely incredible and your attention to detail is impeccable. The hardest part for mine will be add hand controls, but I think I can do it. But has anyone tried fitting a gold wing engine in one?
Can I ask what are the standing features why you chose a GW engine, apart of the reverse? (Or is bc it's an engine you already have spare?)
Askin seriously, I want to have the reverse on mine but thought I only ned the gearbox. What am I ignoring about the gw engine?
Shift controls by hand afaik are the same system than a lever, at least if you use a servo actuator on the engine side (auto clutch, auto sync, auto shift, in milliseconds. Cool.)
sorry for the late response , but gw motors make a bunch of torque and because it has reverse

Hey bud so in love with these. And I am an apprentice fabricator and thinking of doing one of these. I am from Europe and use the metric system. Do you know if I will have any problems using metric tubing as that will have different dimensions than imperial. Could I just use the metric tubing diameter that comes closest to the ones you use and then follow your plans? Or would I need to calibrate the measurements somehow?

Love the enthusiasm! I sooo desperately want one of these.. I dont know how to weld, don't have a welder yet. I DID just get a 30x50 shop built so I can learn to weld and learn to build one of these. I would LOVE to get plans and a bender... I think for my first attempt though, I may want a kit... And a jig... do you sell the jig kits or are they in the plans too? I'm in Arkansas but willing to drive to pick anything up to save on shipping...

Thank you! That is the whole idea and you are definitely in the right track. The jig is definitely in the plans and is pretty simple to build. Everyone who has started a frame has finished one so you definitely should be excited. I have a question if you don't mind. Is your welder 110 or 220 and are you welding at that? From the video it looks to be a 110 cord going to the welder. I'm thinking about tacking the main frame with a 110 welder and having a professional do the full weld. The other small stuff I can weld myself. The main frame is essential, I would like strong clean welds. i'm going big motor and street legal. I bought the laser cnc bend kit, super excited to be part of the KJ Racking Team.
It is 110, frame tubing for small buggies has a wall thin enough to make 110 mig welding very easy.
From an experienced metal worker to someone who's never measured, cut, bent, welded, a cage before, and are considering this. You have a semi truck load of in your face reality check coming your way 😂
Im not saying dont do it. After ali, we only really learn through mistakes. Just prepare and budget for a lot of wasted pipe.
My advice? Find a good mentor or go to work as a helper in a fabrication shop or shipyard, etc. Trust me, you will learn.
From just a dude in a garage to an experienced metal worker… it is tube, not pipe. Pipe is for plumbing. Oh and also everything else you typed is wrong as well, plenty of first time fabricators are getting these frames together just fine. Go $h!t in someone else’s lawn.

I am in mich. My city is traverse City I wood like to know what state you are in? We have a lot of sesenl rd. In my area that will be fun to go on with this crosskart. I am thinking of doing a hiberd electric. Wood you have eney sagesten? I would like your input.
Electric is expensive compared to gas but it would be fast and if you bought the right setup it would be pretty simple too. I’d love to come ride some fire roads in Michigan 👍
Excellent video! I found out about you by way of the cars and cameras channel. I sub'd your channel. I've been wanting something like this for a long time. I guess I need to learn how to weld properly and learn how to bend pipe... The rest of it I can do... When budget allows... I suppose.... thanks to you.. I'll be shopping for a bender. I use Rogue Fab products, but the clr’s required are in the plans if you want to use something different. There are lots of guys building these down under and loving them!

i started learning how to do metal work and weld this summer and this is the perfect project to hone those skills on. i already made mistakes to learn from. and will continue to learn about building vehicles and what goes into them
