I find it funny that I’m “watching” these bad movies through reviews like yours and they have made them so much more entertaining than going to see them in theaters. Keep up the good work!
I think the worst thing about this movie is that the whole way through I just thought "this could have been a nice tv show if they stuck to it"...but as a movie it's just kind of weird? There is too much left open to be satifying at the end, scenes are weirdly cut and clearly the audience was meant to get to know the larger cast over episodes to give them depth which now just...never happened
@@sparrow6002 IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN!? The Tangled show was so good and got 3 seasons it was a perfect amount. If Moana got the same treatment it would have been better I’m sure. I’m just a little worried that they might try and turn a failed Encanto show into a sequel too. I thought that Encanto had so much potential for a show so we can explore the other members of the family that didn’t get fleshed out enough in the movie.
@@fataleflare What also annoys me is that this feels kind of like a repeat of when disney did the same with the scrapped tv shows for Cinderella and Belle to make straight to video sequels, only now they want you to pay and watch it on the big screen? And it's kinda depressing how different from those old attempts, the moana show seemed to have some quality to it! Like, I feel sorry for the people that put some good work into the supposed show, only to have it become this patched together mess of a movie instead.... I really hope they don't make this a whole thing again...if they promise a show then they should give the audience a show instead of a slapped together movie😕
@@sparrow6002 it is exactly like that. It’s like Disney again doesn’t have an original bone in their body of a company. Please just take some public domain fairy tales or myths from around the world and adapt them into a new ORIGINAL movie. Like come on you could have a real African Princess with all the countless stories. I just found out about one named Thákane: A dragon-slaying princess and daughter of a great chief who was responsible for raising her two lazy brothers. That sounds like a fantastic movie Disney could make.
@@fataleflare I have a lot of nostalgic fondness for disney but I truly think they're just....not what I loved about the old disney anymore? Like that Princess Thákane sounds amazing! But what would current disney even make out of her? Or would they not make anything with her at all because they prefer easy money? Honestly if I was any good at animation and had the budget, I'd start making movies like their old stuff myself rather than wait for the CEOs to grow interested in anything beside cash grabs....
I've hesitated from saying this for a lot of Moana 2 reviews on UA-cam but DEAR GOD, Shark-Head Maui looks absolutely horrendous in Moana 2. With the original Moana, Maui with a shark head looked pristine because of the lighting and his head looked dry. But in Moana 2 the lack of decent lighting makes his shark head look perpetually wet and it gives off tv-show quality animation. I'm sorry, but Shark-Head Maui looks terrible in the sequel.
I totally agree with you, I hated the fact that they "killed Moana" cause like you said we knew she wasn't gonna die. But I don't know if it's the fact that all Disney movies are becoming the same, but I literally told my sister within the first 20 minutes "She is going to become a demigod". Within all these movies you already know what's gonna happen. I also did not really like the characters, they had like no reason to be in the movie, and she could have done all that by herself. The music also pissed me off, it was pretty good music (at least I thought so) but why do you try to make it sound like the first movie, just make original music!
I hate that Moana lost her grab people by the ear energy in this movie, something she could’ve used with the annoying side characters cause they were useless and a pain in the butt. Also unpopular opinion I do not care for Matangi because she’s just there and her song is the blandest for me. I think Beyond is the best song in the movie probably because of the character it’s attached to which is Moana, who I have a personally emotional connection to since the original film.
I really hoped they would go more into water connects us and that the islanders needed to help moana from the island by putting stuff in the ocean to bring it to moana or something. That would give the story more dimension and actually make the islanders usefull instead of just being there. This movie feels like the tv shows first 3 episodes and after it actually starts the story but that just might be the weird pacing. And yes the music was just copy paste of the original movie but change the text. It was nothing specific
Since you consider this sequel awful next to: Belle’s Magical World & Tales Of Friendship (1997-1999) Cinderella’s Dreams Come True (2001) Atlantis Milo’s Return (2003) What Are Thoughts On: Hercules Zero To Hero (1999) Tarzan & Jane (2001) The House Of Mouse Movies (2001-2002) Seasons Of Giving & A Very Merry Pooh Year (1999-2002)?

Didn’t they turn the royal turned goddess trope in "Frozen 2" with Elsa?
You know a movie from a company as large as Disney is in trouble when it is announced the same year it comes out.
Overall, great review!
