Hi, thank you so much for your appreciation of our video, we are glad you found it a good and useful video to watch, and that you found it so informative. Hope your pressure washer is now working!
@@eSparesmy karcher k2 is starving water in middle of cleaning my car an some times wen I set it all up wht can it be iv dne the filter clean bt it’s still the same
My Karcher has an odd issue - with 2 attachments it works fine - the patio cleaner and one other (rated at 130bar max), but with 2 other attachments (rated at 120 and 150 bar max), it pulses in use, i.e. it turns on and just about as soon as the water coming out hits full pressure, the motor cuts out briefly and then it repeats. Both the attachments it works with come from my old, smaller karcher. It's not an issue with the attachments as I've borrowed other identical ones to test. There is no issue with water pressure from the tap - using a 1m length of hoselock hose connected to a mains pressure tap. With the non-pulsing attachments, it works absolutely fine and there are no leaks.
Cool. I like the way you give advice that can help people without spending any money as well, not just trying to get us to buy stuff. To me it makes your company more credible and when I do want spares I will use you. Thanks
great video man! I have a karcher 3.68M 1.601-742. it's for low pressure and the machine turns on when I turn the switch. is it supposed to be running without the trigger being pulled? when I pull the trigger, I get the same flow as when the machine is turned off . I appreciate any feedback. thanks JB
Hi, I have a Karcher K5 and it’s fine apart from one issue. When I pull the trigger the pressure is very low. In order for it to return I have to remove the lance (vario or dirtblaster, doesn’t matter) pull the trigger and let the water run through in the wide spray flow, reattach the lance and off it goes perfectly. If I let go of the trigger for even a few seconds I have to go through this process again and it’s quite annoying. Any idea what’s causing this problem?
Hi Krieg AufKreuz, we have had before a seal allowing air through or a leak that causes the pressure to drop but make sure you check the cylinder head.
Thanks for the comments, If the Karcher is pulsating when in use then it is likely the spray lance is restricted as this will increase the pressure as if the machine was stopped and once the pressure drops the machine runs again. Try with a different nozzle before looking for a fault.
Have a Karcher K4, turn it on and motor can be heard running even when trigger is not pulled but water does not come out when you pull the trigger. The pump is running constantly until you turn off the power. It does not spray water.
Thx for the video. I'm not quite sure if I need to change the whole cylinder head or not. When I run water after opening the unit...it's leaking from the cylinder head. I took a video. I have a k5.65 qc.
Hi Phoenix Ortiz, it may just be the O ring that is causing the leak and we supply them so you don't have to replace the head www.espares.co.uk/browse/mt16/pressure-washers/karcher/domestic-k5-series
I have a K1900 electric pressure washer. The motor will not cut off when the spray gun trigger is released but instead runs slower. Prior to the motor running constantly, the unit was pulsating when using the spray gun and cycling on and off when not using the spray gun. No leaks found.
My K2 karcher has a leak from the body. I have seen your video and am ready to take the cover off. It has tamper-proof screws and I need a special tool. Can you please identify the special tool.
Hi Omar, if you have checked the cylinder head and confirmed it is faulty, take a look at our website you will be able to cost the part www.espares.co.uk/browse/at1315ma877/pressure-washers/karcher
Another good video, but sadly doesn't address my issue. My machine started to pulse years ago and advice from Karcher was to replace the pressure lance! Hopeless advice, nothing to do with it, and no, I did *not* buy a new lance! I'd asked then about a possible faulty pressure release value ... but clearly 'a pressure release' was indeed occurring, but not via a pressure release value, but through the start of a pump leak. Recently the leak got worse and so I went investigating. The leak is from the triangular seal at the top of the cylinder head (Part number 9.081-422.0 or ES538518 in eSpares money). The problem now is a fundamental design fault on the pump; The triangular seal *should* be designed to sit in a retaining channel to keep it in place. Sadly, instead it sits free on a ledge, and when compressed by the top of the cylinder block being assembled on top of it, tends to be 'squeezed out' at some point around its circumference, meaning the pump leaks. And quite clearly, this happens even after successful assembly and was the cause of my fault. It would seem the seal moved (or 'walked') during use, no doubt due to motor vibration, and so started to leak, as the seal was not found damaged on disassembly, just not sitting in place all the way around the cylinder head. It had 'walked' out of the jam between the body ledge and cylinder head and so started leaking. It's a dreadful piece of design by Karcher. I cannot understand how any sane engineer would expect anything but what happens to occur. The seal should be retained, otherwise the inevitable will and does happen. It's all made worse as the cylinder body and head are all assembled in one go with the bolts retaining the pump to the motor and with the electrical switch thrown into the assembling mix as well. The result is each time you fit a new seal, it moves and doesn't give a proper seal. Each time you get differing degrees of leakage depending on how much of the seal has been squeezed out of place. It all makes me wonder how Karcher actually build these things without a high pump leak failure rate as leaks are just inherent in the design. It seems I can send the machine off for repair, but at £135+parts it's as much as buying a new washer. So I seem to have a designed-in fault and the only option is to buy another machine each time, as repair is equivalent to buying new. This has all destroyed my confidence in Karacher. It is beyond me how such poor design can have been permitted as leaks are just inevitable. Do you have any advice on replacing these triangular cylinder head seals, specifically keeping them in place during assembly? I've even tried superglue to keep them in place, but to no avail. Always some degree of leakage :-( And one last 'easy' question. You mention the o-ring on the hose (6.363-198.0). I had looked to replace that, but it seems this is a Karacher special size, and slightly smaller than the usual garden hose o-rings in use by Gardena, Hozelock and others. Is this correct? You need a special Kararcher o-ring as theirs are a *slightly* different size? Thanks for any advice!
Hi, I have a K4 compact that has recently developed a fault. As soon as it is plugged in to mains power, the pump starts, even if its switched off on the PW itself, water does not come out until the trigger on the lance is opened. There doesn't appear to be as high a pressure either. I can't see any water leaks from anywhere.
Great video! I have a Karcher K2900M. It's an older model. When it turns on, it stays running at high RPM like you have a full trigger pull on the wand, (but the trigger's not actually being pulled), with no pressure at the wand. But it leaks badly from the bottom of the unit. So I opened the unit to inspect and it doesn't leak until you turn the unit on. When you do, it leaks badly at high pressure from the valve housing and manifold. This unit has the one piece manifold. The seals all look fine. No visual evidence of cracking or wear. Can the seals be bad without showing it? Or is something else going on? Thanks!
RE MrNorsewise: (cannot post on your comment, check your settings?) Thanks for the comments JB. We have known the motor drive to shear as it joins the pump, this results in the motor running but no pressure or pumping. Looks like you might have to dismantle the pump to check this.
Thanks for the video, My karcher pressure washer seems to be working fine, but after I let got of the trigger handle for a few second, the trigger handle doesn't trigger until I wait like 5 to 10 min. I might have used the wrong detergent..Can you suggest what to do. thanks
Hi Seraj, after it has stopped do you get a spurt of water when you pull the trigger again? if not the gun trigger valve may be sticking. If when you pull the trigger it does spurt a jet of water does the machine start to buzz after you pull the trigger? this would indicate the motor trying to start and may be a motor capacitor problem.
I have a similar problem to this. Sometimes it just won't start up. If I leave it a minute or two or keep the trigger depressed, it will suddenly fire up and usually works normally for the rest of the day.
Hi Nick, if it is a motor capacitor problem you will here the machine buzzing before starting. If there is no noise it may be the 'spill valve' (that turns the motor off when at full pressure) is sticking. If this is the case once the high pressure was released the machine would remain off even if you stop spraying until the valve moves then there may be a short burst of motor noise while the machine re pressurises.
I've got Kärcher SE 4001 machine. The water jet doesn't come out at all. No water leaks. When I press the spray gun, nothing happens. Any suggestion to fix that problem?
Water will flow through Karches like a garden hose even when they are disconnected from the power. Remove the lance and if the water does not flow when you pull the trigger try removing the gun from the hose.
Hi, I have a Karcher 4.130 works but is leaking a lot from the cylinder head area , so does not have the usual power. It is not pulsing. I have stripped down and had a good look, but no obvious cracks or splits. I have replaced the triangular washer , Can you suggest what next to try?
Hi Michael, disconnect the power and connect the hoses to pressurise with mains water pressure. You can then dismantle and examine to find where the water is leaking from.
My problem is that when i pull the trigger the power is about half of what it should be. I've noticed that if I keep the trigger held, bht turn the machine off and on again, full power will sometimes come back. Its very frustrating. Ive cleaned out the filter but no improvement, any ideas!? Thanks!
Hi, I'm having problems with a snow foam cannon on a karcher k4, when using the cannon the jet wash will pulse on and off but with the adjustable lance it's fine, do you know what could cause this? Thanks Shaun
Hi MrShaunys1210, If the Karcher is pulsating when in use then it is likely the cannon is restricted as this will increase the pressure as if the machine was stopped and once the pressure drops the machine runs again.
I have found an electric k2 1500 psi on sale cheap. Seller thinks pump needs replaced says works on low pressure and needs pump to work properly. If runs and sprays on low that wouldnt b the pump itself would it? Im thinking something else but unsure and would like to know b4 i purchase and end up spending more than its worth to fix. Seller says electrical wand and hoses good so what could it b? Please let me know what u think asap thanks
Hi barbarab24cs, a couple of things could be possible so start by checking the O ring seals and the valve inside the cylinder head as problems there will cause the low pressure and the other may be a air block.
@@eSpares ok not sure if this would change what u think the problem could b or not and we did buy it, but she said if u hold trigger wide open ur good and when old man checked it out he said as u hold it the spray would go off and on, it would start spraying on start up then stop then start and she had said would spray on start up but if u let off would have to restart to get it to spray again. I will check out the things u suggested and thanks for the help by the way but if u feel like theres a different option now or something else to try please let me know
Hi Matt I have a karcher 5.55m pressure washer that has pulse problems , i have replaced the Pressure Washer Cylinder Head and i cleaned all the valves , i've checked the pressure and i do not have any leak anywhere. Before i purchase any more parts from you can you please help me in suggesting what else could be wrong? Many thanks
The only other valve we can think that could cause this problem without a visible leak other than those in the cylinder head is shown here: www.espares.co.uk/product/es537814/water-inlet-tube If this problem occurred since replacing the head it could also be due to a dirt particle holding one of the cylinder valves open.
Hi Matt I changed the valve you suggested but it still not working. I am reluctant to give up because it was a really good machine and its not that old . Do you know of any local repairers in the Berkshire county?
Hi,I have a Karcher K6.85M Pressure Washer which has always been appropriately stored (never below 0°C) and drained following its largely infrequent use.Recently when using the pressure washer the motor abruptly cut out. At the time I presumed that this was due to some sort of overheat protection as the machine had been in use for just over an hour (though not continuously) and so this curtailed any further use.The following day I attempted to complete the previous day's task only to find that as before that when switched on the motor buzzed as usual but on depressing the trigger only a small amount of water was coming through the lance (just tap water pressure?) and the indicator needle was showing no pressure. No leaks are evident either.I have changed the lance, checked all of the hose connections and verified that the filter is not blocked. Do these symptoms suggest an electrical issue (capacitor?), stuck bypass valve? or point to an entirely different cause. Are the replacement spare components readily available from eSpares? Thanks for your advice
I had the same issue on a Bosch pressure washer myself recently and from your description it is likely due to the same cause. The motors on the larger pressure washers often have a motor capacitor to pass current to half of the motor. Mine had failed and was burst so check yours visually. If there is no sign of damage it may show short or open circuit with a meter. If in doubt take a chance and replace first anyway.
Thanks for the clarification......now I have a starting point I will strip down and inspect the Capacitor....as you suggest I will likely replace in any case. Looking at the parts diagrams for the K6.85M it indicates that two Capacitors are available one at 25 Micro Farads www.espares.co.uk/product/es538318/pressure-washer-capacitor-25-mfd-uf?pageNumber=5&ModelId=2254119 and another at 40 Micro Farads - www.espares.co.uk/product/es538319/pressure-washer-capacitor?pageNumber=5&ModelId=2254119. Further research indicates that the K6.80 and K6.85 model series are both covered by the same parts list (see www.easymotoculture.com/vues_eclatees/Karcher/Nett.%20haute%20pression/HPC-KAR-2002_1.397-500.0-K%206.85%20M%20WB.pdf) as most parts appear identical. Do these two Capacitors reflect this model share? If so which is the correct part for the K6.85M?? Assuming that this is not clear.....is the larger 40 Micro Farad a better/safer bet? What is the difference between using the larger vs the smaller value component?? Thanks again for your helpful advice
Hiya buddy I was using my kew hobby 80-1 this morning it was working ok and I turned it off then back on after 10 minutes and it started pulsing and I removed the inlet filter out and tried it without the filter and it's still pulsing can you give me any advice on this please
Hi Will, pulsing is usually a sign of a air block so try this: Disconnect the Pressure Washer from the electricity supply, Remove the black high pressure hose from the outlet of the machine. (If your machine has a hose reel, remove the trigger gun from the hose and leave the hose connected to the machine). Connect the garden hose to the inlet of the machine. Turn on the water supply but leave the machine unplugged from the electricity supply.Leave the water running through the machine for a period of 5-7 minutes. Re-connect the black high pressure hose.Squeeze the handle of the trigger gun to draw the water through the hose and into the gun until water exits from the lance and hopefully its ready to go.
Just asking...should a pressure washer pulsate at all? Ours does it when you stop washing just twice, then just the motor running as normal. Is this normal?
Many machines are designed to 'shut off' when not in use. To do this the pump pressure needs to be higher than that needed when being used. If there is any leak of this pressure the machine will restart as it thinks you are using it. Check for leaks on the high pressure hose fittings and around the pump. If it is not leaking there must be an internal leak on one of the valves in the pump. If it pulse when spraying it would indicate a restriction of the spray lance so check with another lance.
Hi Mat, I have K2 series with old hose type. When I used it, using standard lance, suddenly pressure dropped, and the machine didn't do auto shut off anymore and I notice that the tip of the lance is gone (the lance now have slightly bigger hole) When I change the lance into dirt blaster, the machine start to pulse when I didn't press the trigger and the water spray seem not too hard compare to the last time I use it. I don't see any leak coming from the machine. Would you please help to advise what could I do to confirm that is it the machine problem or outlet (hose, hand gun, lance) problem ? Thanks.
IF the pressure from the dirtblaster is significantly higher than the regular lance it is likely the lance has been damaged. If the machine is pulsing when not used the high pressure in the cylinder head needed to shut the machine off must be escaping, usually from a leak but could be an internal seal.
Do you only help on the Mitshumi or also other brands? Mine turns on for a short period of time and the turns off itself how do I repair it myself or do I need to go to the company I bought it
I have the k2 compact and on the water inlet (on the back) it leaks, but I've have also noticed the water that's leaking out is multi colored like if there's an oil leak. Any idea where the oil could be comimg from or the cause of it
Hi I have a K4.650 it stops and starts and has lost pressure, its spraying water from what looks to be the cylinder head or manifold. I'm not to sure as i cant inspect properly due to the clamping plate ( cant see any cracks when removed ) It wont leak when not running (powered ). just not sure what parts to get ? I cant seem to find a complete cylinder hear with valves and seals or complete manifold ?
HI, if you remove the cover and just connect the water supply without connecting the electricity the water pressure should show any leak of the cylinder head or jointing piece. Spares for your model can be found here: www.espares.co.uk/search?SearchTerm=K4.650
I have the Karcher K2 Compact and it seems to have given up on me. When I turn it on I hear a very light humming noise. When I use the gun I get a very light thin spray of water. No power at all. I don't see any form of leak so I'm wondering what the issue might be. Can you help? Thanks.
I removed the case to my K4.6 and the cylinder head....... checked all the washers they seem to be okay, checked all valves they seem to be okay put it all back together again tightly. Then ran the water through without the case and looking at the machine from the front a fine spray is leaking out on the left hand side below the piston heads but can’t seem to work out where the leak would be coming from? Any ideas?
My Karcher PW not working, my wife said that it fell down the steps and after that It will not work, any idea of what could have happened during the fall? I would like to try fixing it, but I would like to have an idea of what could have happened to it. At the moment I connect the water supply, spray gun and power, turn it on and nothing happens, not even a hum or anything it is completely silent when I turn the know to ON. Cheers
You will need to watch another of our videos to identify the problem: ua-cam.com/video/afPHu9LrRbQ/v-deo.html We think you should check the switch and connections to the motor.
Hi, I had a leak and found a crack in the soap chamber of the cylinder head so replaced the whole cylinder head, this has stopped the leak but I now have very low pressure, the motor runs constantly and doesn't change when I squeeze the trigger. Any ideas? Thanks,
Hi Ed, if this is a new problem since you replaced the cylinder head it sounds like it is losing air pressure from somewhere so start by checking the O ring seals.
eSpares thanks for the response, I've checked and can't see any issues. I have got a small plastic disc that I am unsure where this is meant to sit, I'm thinking this could be the cause of he issue?
Hi Carl, two things to check,. I: try another spray lance as a partial blockage can cause the motor to shut off then come back as the pressure reduces. 2: Check there is a good supply of water to the machine and the filter in the machine inlet elbow, and there are no air leaks on the supply hose.
The whirlagig wand works fine. The water feed is a one-inch rubber hose with plenty of pressure, and the screen is clean. The adjustable wand works at reduced flow but surges at maximum flow. Thanks, and any more suggestions?
My engine is fine, I have no water leaks, but I do not get up any pressure when the water is on! I have suspected the capacitor, but Kärcher specialists says that if the capacitor is broken, the engine do not run at all! What do you think? I have a K5 Premium
hi matt...got brand new k2...i tried it with no water supply to it just for couple of short bursts...it sounded great.. then when i went to use it with water supply connected ..it barked..(for want of a better word) then stopped...then wouldnt start again...so i unplugged it and plugged into another socket ..again it barked and did nothing... ive tried couple of fuses..but nothing at all.. prezzie for my mom..never squirted a drop of water...any ideas mate?... did i kill it by tryin it without water connected?..
Hi Ginger, my first thought would be if it is brand new then it is under guarantee, so it can be fixed free of charge. Just contact service on your receipt, you would need to take it apart to look at it so let them do it for free.
Hi, I have a new Kärcher washer with built in soap dispenser. K4 full control (I think) it has the spool for lance hose built in. First use and I am unable to get the soap to run through? Is this a common problem with a simple resolution?
Hi look at the tip of the washing part were u adjust the pressure for washing turn the "head " to the lowest n it will start dispensing the soap. Some times it will say the word mix on it. I had the same issue n suddenly stumbled upon the solution..
CARL THORNE or buy a Karcher K series foam cannon. Don't buy the FJ6 it doesn't dispense foam as good as the foam cannon. Bought mine last week and arrived yesterday and worked like a charm. But now I have a problem. I think my Karcher K3 series has a pressure leak and need to get that fixed
hi mate I have to turn my pressure washer on with the trigger pulled to make it work. soon has I stop pulling trigger I have to flick the switch off and on with the trigger pulled
Hi Gary, there is an over pressure valve (spill valve?) attached to the high pressure area of the pump that will shut the pump off when pressure is excessive (not being used). However if there is a leak or worn seals the pressure may not be sufficient to shut the pump off. Check for leaks and then start replacing seals in the pump.
hi, I have a K3 97.M that right now does not have any leaks I changed cylinder head checked a capacitor is ok I do not know how to check the switch but the motor does not start by the way do you know which oil to put on the pistons?
Hi Tine, you can identify the problem by watching these videos: ua-cam.com/video/afPHu9LrRbQ/v-deo.html and ua-cam.com/video/pJkyY8qRRwc/v-deo.html The correct oil is available here: www.espares.co.uk/product/es538165/karcher-pressure-washer-engine-oil
Is that regular 15w-40 as any other motor oil? I will probably place some orders from espares, but 1l of that oil is just to expensive just for having Karcher name on the bottle. Btw, great videos. Thanks for these advices.
I have a karcher and it started pulsing evey few secs now it's every second but there are no leaks and the pressure has dropped. Could it be a blocked inlet? Thanks
Hello Matt, we have a Karcher 720mx, motor wouldn't run, I have replaced the capacitor, the motor just clicks, still won't run, I can turn it over with the fan ok, there are no leaks, any ideas ???
+mountfields If the motor turns it is not seized. I would suspect the capacitor if it had not been replaced. Watch another video to check continuity through: ua-cam.com/video/pJkyY8qRRwc/v-deo.html If there is a direct connection from plug to motor through the switch it can only be a faulty motor winding.
The detergent valve may be blocked by old detergent that has dried up. You may be able to dismantle this part of the pump and clean or replace the valve as required see: www.espares.co.uk/product/es953397
Hello, i have a problem with the newest model K2, it appears to work occasionally at full power. But 50% of the time, it will just spray a spurt, while holding the trigger. I have to let go of the trigger, and press it again to see if it will fully pressurize the water into a high powered spray, its brand new and this is completely random when it will pressurize the water :( Any advise? Cheers
Try with another spray lance and make sure you have enough water pressure and flow from the hose to the machine. If problem continues contact your retailer if under warranty.
Mine started pulsing every few mins but worked fine. Today when I turned it on the motor pressurises once as normal but when I pulled the trigger it won't run at all. Act's completely dead, won't even turn on until you hear a click inside the machine about 15 mins later. Whats causing this? Is there some sort of thermal cut off? If I try again, the process repeats and dead again. There are no leaks.
Hello. I have a question. I lent my Karcher K4 and when I was going to use it myself, I noticed that it had a leak. Could it be that the person I lent it to had pulled hard on the conection between the pressure washer and the hose that conects wth the spray gun? The machine runs, but not at full pressure.
Pulling would not normally damage the connections but a knock in transit or storing in a cold environment may. Disconnect the power and remove the case then attach just the water and hoses. This pressure should help show any leaks.
eSpares The things is that in the country that I live, there is no winter, so my guess is that the other person yanked on it pretty hard to crack the piece.
Sir mine (K2) is acting weird, simply i turn it on, press the trigger button and all goes well. i release the trigger one second, and then press the trigger again...it stops. no pressure, no sound, nothing at all. what could be the reason?
I own a Karcher electric power washer that has no pressure when I squeeze the lever on the wand. Mine does not look like yours it has wheels under it with a handle that sticks up. How do I diagnose the problem and get to the piston(s)?
Hi Brian, you will not notice any pressure unless there is a spray lance on the gun. If the machine is not producing the correct pressure the motor will not shut off when you stop using it. If it stops there is no problem with the pump.
Does the machine stop running?. If the machine is not producing the correct pressure the motor will not shut off when you stop using it. If it does stop check the filter on the input connection for dirt and make sure there are no leaks on the hoses or machine.
It's cheaper to buy a new pump than to try to repair. Karcher pumps appear to be more throw away than repair. A replacement cylinder head costs £64.89 hoping this will cure the fault A later K2 model from ARGOS for £84.99
Hi Colin, we understand that parts can be expensive but hopefully, the video was helpful to determine what part had failed and then make an informed decision on whether to repair the appliance.
Hi the video was perfect for locating the fault. But this is the 2nd K2 I have purchased and had the same fault. It is a design fault where high pressure water is passing through a plastic cylinder head and wearing it away thus causing leaks, A new unit is only £20 more than a replacement head and not knowing if more leaks would appear
I am using karchar k2 compact ,problem is ,it don't turn on automatically at 2nd or third attempt using hand gun.(no problems in motor or pressure)( problem in automatic on off section) .
dear sir, i have the small pressure washer in my hand in last two years, no the washer have a problem, after switching on the machine automatically starting and cut off unless the gun switch press, but machine is working normally, water is discharging also with pressure, kindly advise me to correct this issue (k2 basic karcher)
Got a K5 premium that continually makes a pumping noise, it's litwrally been used maybe 4/5 times since purchase. Strange thing is the on/off dial also seems to do nothing it just stays on! any help for me out there? thanks.
Hi Zac, the pumping noise could be it's pulsing which usually indicates a restriction so check all the hoses are free of kinks, leaks or blockages test the electrical components inside, this video will help ua-cam.com/video/afPHu9LrRbQ/v-deo.html&t
Hi there, I have the K2 model. I am finding that when plugged in and water connected only a very small spray comes out of the gun when the trigger is squeezed. No problem with water supply, it goes into the unit fine but nothing seems to be coming out of the other end! Please help, I'm out of ideas. I tried bleeding the unit but only a drip of water comes out of the pipe after I've disconnected the gun hose. Thanks, hope to hear from you very soon.
eSpares I have tried with both the Vario lance and the standard lance. No joy. It seems like the water isn't being pumped out of the unit. It goes in ok but seems to stop there and nothing comes out.
Even without the pump working there should be a fine (not powerful) jet when the trigger is pulled. Remove the hose connector on the inlet and check and check you have a good flow when this connector is attached to the hose connector. Then look into the connection on the machine and pull out the filter inside to check this is not blocked.
The inlet elbow on the pump that connects to the supply hose: www.espares.co.uk/product/es1673433/ has a 'filter' (the green and yellow bit) inside, if this is blocked it will 'starve the pump' of water and may produce this problem.
hi I have a karcher k3.575 power washer that won't turn off and is leaking water from the motor capacitor case when I turn the water on it gushes out the hole at the bottom of the capacitor housing
Hi, I have water leaking out the side. I did as you suggested, took it apart and turned on the water but there wasn't any sign of a crack - the water came out the outlet valve. But when you turn the power on (after putting it back together of course) the water is coming fast out the side and very little from the hose. The motor isn't pulsing - it sounds as though it's on constant as though you are applying the water spray (or have the handle pressed) I was going to order the rings but i'm not sure that's the problem. Any ideas?
Mine makes an annoying squealing sound after the pump slows down and stops on my electric pressure washer. Theres no sound when im using it and the water sprays perfectly fine. Everything works fine but that god awful annoying sound everytime I let go of the trigger and the pump auto stops can someone help thanks in advance!
Hi Sentinel Ex, what model have you got? check you are not losing pressure as if one of the O ring seals is not sealing we have heard the pressure can make a noise.
dude my washer was in the basement after use for a few months and was working fine when i put it down there but when i went to use it again it would not do nothing at all what could that be
my pressure washer continues to run and doesn't have any pressure. I have checked all the common problems listed in the handbook but none of them are there. I can turn off the machine with the on/off switch but once I switch it to on the the washer continues to run with very low pressure ..... I have checked the water supply and it's getting water, filter not blocked, all the easy problems to look for don't apply .
Hi Daniel, the machine will not shut off if it is not producing the full pressure. If there are no leaks the problem is likely to be the cylinder head or the valve in the inlet elbow.
This video is 8 years old. I pray they have designed better pressure washers. Good grief, this sounds like you need to take a washer to a proper mechanic. Imma get me rags and buckets, thank you very much. 😅
Hi Clinton, funnily enough I was clean some decking last night and the splashes went over my patio doors so I gave those a good wash down after, You should not have a problem with normal or double glazed or car window but I wouldn't try washing your best crystal wine glasses. 😊
Hi Mohamed, thank you for your post. We would recommend contacting the retailer or Karcher direct as your pressure washer will usually be covered under a 1-year guarantee.
Most Karcher's are inexpensive machines and are great for light to medium duty use. They do build some 'professional kit' that is obviously a lot more well made and powerful and more expensive as a result. And the end of the day it is your choice. If you need new wheels we should be able to help on our web site: www.espares.co.uk/browse/at1315ma877/pressure-washers/karcher
Some plastic wheels use plastic axles that will wear quickly so using a lubricant will help. The 'cheaper' models hoses are often only a light weight plastic that if allowed to crease can fail quickly, We do a good kit that will fit most models and have a video here: ua-cam.com/video/LGBbuIJ2aOY/v-deo.html
Sadly, i have to agree. Mine has seen very light use, and today without any warning just lost pressure and developed a huge leak inside. Very dissapointed. "Made in Germany" doesn't means much anymore, it seems. Something that fails after such light use is not worth the effort to repair or use.
Hi Christopher, you will need to test the components, also check for a leak that may have caused the electrics to trip please see our video ua-cam.com/video/afPHu9LrRbQ/v-deo.html
Hi Pete, you haven't given much details. If the motor does not run check the switch and either brushes or motor capacitor (depending on model). For more information see another video: ua-cam.com/video/afPHu9LrRbQ/v-deo.html
I'm not happy with the quality of my K3 premium ... the working pressure is not even close to 120 bar, It's still under waranty not even 4 months old ... better invest little bit more money and get a Kranzle pressure washer
Hi Tarik, the pressure delivered by any washer will depend on the spray lance used as to produce this it needs to focus all the flow to concentrate the force. If it is under warranty and is faulty your supplier or agents should help if there is a problem,
Yes the agent fixed it today, and said that the valve was clogged. But I'm sure the pressure wasn't satisfying me since I bought It and I know It was clogged from the factory. But now It's working perfect and descent :) thanks for the fast reply :) cheers
If the machine is stopping while running remove the spray lance as it may be partially blocked. If it keeps starting when not spraying you either have a leak or the pump seals are worn losing the pressure.
4 machines I know of, everyone of them split it's pump housing. Karcher are truly rubbish, I stop random people at Bunnings to steer them away from the brand
I've had nothing but problems with Karcher.. two of the older models with split pumps despite keeping them inside during winter .. first one was under warranty, second one just out of warranty .. now have a K5 of about 5 years, that was also only a couple of years old when the on/off switch stopped working properly.. so it´s now a nightmare to get started.. and then there´s the Turbo dirt blaster which lasts all of 5 mins.. I´ve probably spent more money on those things than the actual presure washer itself ... I dread every time I have to drag it out to do a job around the house wondering if it´s going to work or I´m going to be swearing at it and spending the rest of the day fiddling with the bloody thing .. once this one dies I won´t be buying Karcher ever again, that´s for sure..despite it being a German branded product.
Hi jason80892, thank you for your post, there are many plastic parts that make up this type of machine but most don't go wrong and Karcher is a popular brand.
@@eSpares it is a very popular product but there loosing many customers as there products don't last. Why would you make a pump housing out of plastic. I've had my k2 for three years and used it 3/4 time a year and its failed. Pump housing split.
Hi jason80892, we have noticed that a lot of manufacturers are making there products cheaper which is resulting in them failing quicker and more often.
@@eSpares That's right it's bad practice. I still don't understand why you would make something that's under great pressure out of plastic. I won't personally buy another. After opening the k2 to see the fault it's such a small plastic part that could easily be metal.
@@jason80892 Sadly, this is the fault of the consumer. We demand lower pricing so manufacturers build domestic units to suit our price sensitivity and their required margins. We want them cheap so we get crap. Welcome to 2019.
Hi William, thank you for your post but we do not agree as the video explains that is could be any of the 3 parts shown but would need to be checked to identify which part is broken and replace just that part.
I have the Karcher K5.800 1.181-254.0 ecologic and was using it yesterday morning to wash my car. It was working fine until halfway through it just lost significant pressure down to almost nothing. The motor is running and it's trying to pump. I've had the thing for a couple of years and have hardly used it ! I'm so annoyed with Karcher products. How do seals fail when it's had very very limited usage ??? Plain garbage these Karchers are becoming. I paid around $750 for this piece of shit
@@eSpares Thanks for responding. I'm going to try and get it fixed, but I know that this will be my last Karcher, I'm giving my money to Kranzle next time.
Hi, I have a K6.85 that wasn't working properly but have just changed the capacitor and now works fine apart from water flowing into the detergent bottle and spraying out of the lid of the detergent tank. Could you advise an where the problem could be please?
The valve on the 'chemical set' is likely to be leaking, the part we think you require is here: www.espares.co.uk/product/es537805/pressure-washer-spare-parts-set

Hi, thank you so much for your appreciation of our video, we are glad you found it a good and useful video to watch, and that you found it so informative. Hope your pressure washer is now working!

What a great little video! I now know where to look to repair my machine.
Hi, thanks so much for your comment. Hopefully our video means you can now solve the issue with your Karcher pressure washer!
Great video, thanks for guidance. Had pressure washer 6 months and water leaking out from inside.
Hi andrew, thank you for your post and glad you enjoyed the video.
Cool. I like the way you give advice that can help people without spending any money as well, not just trying to get us to buy stuff. To me it makes your company more credible and when I do want spares I will use you. Thanks

Hi 19Eleven71, thank you for your post and comments. Glad you found our video helpful.
great video man!
I have a karcher 3.68M 1.601-742. it's for low pressure and the machine turns on when I turn the switch. is it supposed to be running without the trigger being pulled? when I pull the trigger, I get the same flow as when the machine is turned off . I appreciate any feedback. thanks JB
Glad I watched this vid. What I thought was a £150 replacement was just a blocked filter. Thanks 😁
Hi Stuart, thank you for your post and glad our video helped.
Great stuff-- my 5 month old Karcher started pulsing & has no real pressure--this is what I need to fix it myself ---A+++
Thanks for the comments, If the Karcher is pulsating when in use then it is likely the spray lance is restricted as this will increase the pressure as if the machine was stopped and once the pressure drops the machine runs again.
Hi Cathy, the screws are normally Tork's type so this kit should be suitable:
www.espares.co.uk/product/es1251179/
I think eSpares meant Torx ;)
This is very helpful video. My karcher K2is leaking from inside only when I turn it on. I guess it is the cylinder head then?
How much is it?
Always some degree of leakage :-(
And one last 'easy' question.
Brilliant video but please can you explain how I remove the inlet filter as I have no water coming through the gun but washer is pulsing continuously.

Thanks!
Hi Chris, usually if the O ring seals have deteriorated then it can cause a leak and if it is one piece you may need to replace the unit.
RE MrNorsewise: (cannot post on your comment, check your settings?)
Thanks for the comments JB. We have known the motor drive to shear as it joins the pump, this results in the motor running but no pressure or pumping. Looks like you might have to dismantle the pump to check this.

My brand new k7 keeps pulsing when i increase the pressure. Do i not have enough water flow ?
Hi,
I have a Karcher 4.130 works but is leaking a lot from the cylinder head area , so does not have the usual power.
Thanks!
Thanx for the video fixed a blocked filter
Hi, I'm having problems with a snow foam cannon on a karcher k4, when using the cannon the jet wash will pulse on and off but with the adjustable lance it's fine, do you know what could cause this? Thanks Shaun
Hi MrShaunys1210, If the Karcher is pulsating when in use then it is likely the cannon is restricted as this will increase the pressure as if the machine was stopped and once the pressure drops the machine runs again.
eSpares thanks for getting back to me, so would you suggest trying a new cannon or stripping mine down and cleaning it up?
Hi MrSHaunys1210, try to unblock it first before thinking about replacing it

The problem is likely to be a leaking valve allowing the high pressure to leak back to the low pressure inlet side if no water is escaping.

The only other valve we can think that could cause this problem without a visible leak other than those in the cylinder head is shown here:
www.espares.co.uk/product/es537814/water-inlet-tube
If this problem occurred since replacing the head it could also be due to a dirt particle holding one of the cylinder valves open.
Hi Matt
I changed the valve you suggested but it still not working.
Hi Mat,
I have K2 series with old hose type.
When I used it, using standard lance, suddenly pressure dropped, and the machine didn't do auto shut off anymore and I notice that the tip of the lance is gone (the lance now have slightly bigger hole)
When I change the lance into dirt blaster, the machine start to pulse when I didn't press the trigger and the water spray seem not too hard compare to the last time I use it.
Mine turns on for a short period of time and the turns off itself how do I repair it myself or do I need to go to the company I bought it
Hi Nadi5, the video is on Karcher but it shows how to diagnose on a pressure washer, you need to test the circuit to establish what has failed.

Hi Marcus, the pump pistons are in an oil bath so if water is contacting the oil it is likely to be getting through the piston seals.

Any ideas?
Hi Nick, we know the O ring seals inside the cylinder head can leak even if they look ok but requires them replacing.
My Karcher PW not working, my wife said that it fell down the steps and after that It will not work, any idea of what could have happened during the fall? I would like to try fixing it, but I would like to have an idea of what could have happened to it. Hi,
I had a leak and found a crack in the soap chamber of the cylinder head so replaced the whole cylinder head, this has stopped the leak but I now have very low pressure, the motor runs constantly and doesn't change when I squeeze the trigger. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Hi Ed, if this is a new problem since you replaced the cylinder head it sounds like it is losing air pressure from somewhere so start by checking the O ring seals.
eSpares thanks for the response, I've checked and can't see any issues. I have got a small plastic disc that I am unsure where this is meant to sit, I'm thinking this could be the cause of he issue?
I have a Karcher K5-85M that surges while in operation. Suggestions, please!
Thanks, and any more suggestions?

did i kill it by tryin it without water connected?..
Hi Ginger, my first thought would be if it is brand new then it is under guarantee, so it can be fixed free of charge. Just contact service on your receipt, you would need to take it apart to look at it so let them do it for free.
My Karcher spray on low pressure like a cheap water pistol. What steps do you advise?
Hi Net Guru, check the cylinder head for damage to the O ring seals and have a look at the valve as it blocks up causing the drop in the pressure.
@@eSpares do you have a video actually giving a demonstration. Trying to become a hands on person
Hi Net Guru, have you watched the video above as it shows Mat going through low-pressure issues.
Hi, I have a new Kärcher washer with built in soap dispenser. K4 full control (I think) it has the spool for lance hose built in. First use and I am unable to get the soap to run through? Is this a common problem with a simple resolution?
Hi Carl, Karcher's like most machines only dispense detergent when on 'low' pressure. Remove the lance or fit a brush and it should work.
Quality Vid mate. Thank You...
Hi Chris, thank you for the praise, remember to like the video and subscribe for even more useful videos.
hi mate I have to turn my pressure washer on with the trigger pulled to make it work. soon has I stop pulling trigger I have to flick the switch off and on with the trigger pulled
Hi Tine, you can identify the problem by watching these videos: ua-cam.com/video/afPHu9LrRbQ/v-deo.html and
ua-cam.com/video/pJkyY8qRRwc/v-deo.html
The correct oil is available here: www.espares.co.uk/product/es538165/karcher-pressure-washer-engine-oil
Thank you i will check it later
😊
Is that regular 15w-40 as any other motor oil? I will probably place some orders from espares, but 1l of that oil is just to expensive just for having Karcher name on the bottle. Btw, great videos. Thanks for these advices.
Thanks for the comments. Sorry we are not oil experts.
I have a karcher and it started pulsing evey few secs now it's every second but there are no leaks and the pressure has dropped. Could it be a blocked inlet? Thanks
Hi Ritchie, it does sound like there is a restriction somewhere but try a different nozzle first.
eSpares it was running all time yesterday but then started pulsing again I'll try new lance/nozzle 1st. Thanks
You explain more how to fix it than how to diagnose what actually is the item to fix. Other than that, good video.
Watch another video to check continuity through: ua-cam.com/video/pJkyY8qRRwc/v-deo.html
If there is a direct connection from plug to motor through the switch it can only be a faulty motor winding.
+eSpares Matt, thanks for coming back, we replaced the capacitor with a new one, is there perhaps a pressure switch somewhere that's faulty ?
+mountfields Not really only the micro switch that cuts it out when up to pressure.
Hi I have a K3.80 the problem is that the detergent isn't mixing can you suggest reason?
The detergent will only be dispensed in the low pressure mode so remove the spray lance from the gun and check if it then comes through.
Have tried that detergent not being drawn through
The detergent valve may be blocked by old detergent that has dried up.
+eSpares cheers mate. will go from here
:-)
I have K5.650 when you turn the motor on just humms no pressure to the lance
Mine started pulsing every few mins but worked fine. Today when I turned it on the motor pressurises once as normal but when I pulled the trigger it won't run at all. Act's completely dead, won't even turn on until you hear a click inside the machine about 15 mins later. Whats causing this? Is there some sort of thermal cut off? If I try again, the process repeats and dead again. There are no leaks.
Hi TwentyEightySeven, you need to test the electrical components inside, this video will help ua-cam.com/video/afPHu9LrRbQ/v-deo.html&t
This pressure should help show any leaks.
eSpares Thanks for the response! I found the leak. It was a cracked cylinder head.
That is typically caused by ice expanding in winter, it is possible it had fractured and failed later.
eSpares The things is that in the country that I live, there is no winter, so my guess is that the other person yanked on it pretty hard to crack the piece.
Or knocked/dropped it over when used?.
Sir mine (K2) is acting weird, simply i turn it on, press the trigger button and all goes well. i release the trigger one second, and then press the trigger again...it stops. no pressure, no sound, nothing at all.
what could be the reason?
Hi Skydancerak, test the on/off switch is working correctly, you will need a multimeter to verify if it is failing.
What is a spray lance? The wand has an attachment on it already. If anything in the power washer is dirty what would it be?
Hi BrainageTM Athavan, if the motor and the pressure are ok check the trigger as it sounds like it is not functioning correctly.
dear sir,
i have the small pressure washer in my hand in last two years, no the washer have a problem, after switching on the machine automatically starting and cut off unless the gun switch press, but machine is working normally, water is discharging also with pressure, kindly advise me to correct this issue
(k2 basic karcher)
As we say in the video you need to remove the power and case then turn the water on to trace where the leak is coming from.
Thanks i think this will help!
You are welcome, leaks often occur as a result of the unit freezing in winter. Always drain thoroughly or keep from frost.
My Karcher's pump is running without the gun trigger being on and even with the on/off switch at the off position. Any ideas?
Hi VT, check for any leaks which may be causing pressure issues before testing the switch.
My leak is coming from within the case. This is my first use after Winter, but was working fine for about 10 minutes, then GUSH!
Often the pipes can freeze and fracture so check for splits.

Pulsing the only prob?- switch off, disconnect lance, clean filter, run water through for about a minute to clear airlocks, reconnect -bingo.!
Hi A user User, Nicely done ☺
Hi there, I have the K2 model. I am finding that when plugged in and water connected only a very small spray comes out of the gun when the trigger is squeezed. No problem with water supply, it goes into the unit fine but nothing seems to be coming out of the other end! Please help, I'm out of ideas. I tried bleeding the unit but only a drip of water comes out of the pipe after I've disconnected the gun hose. Thanks, hope to hear from you very soon.
Try with another spray lance or brush as your lance jet may be blocked.
eSpares I have tried with both the Vario lance and the standard lance.
Then look into the connection on the machine and pull out the filter inside to check this is not blocked.
eSpares many thanks for your quick replies. You mean open up the machine itself?
The inlet elbow on the pump that connects to the supply hose:
www.espares.co.uk/product/es1673433/ has a 'filter' (the green and yellow bit) inside, if this is blocked it will 'starve the pump' of water and may produce this problem.
Mine is making a sound like it wants to start pumping the water but stops. Any ideas???
Hi James, start by checking the pump and this video will help you test the components ua-cam.com/video/afPHu9LrRbQ/v-deo.html&t
hi I have a karcher k3.575 power washer that won't turn off and is leaking water from the motor capacitor case when I turn the water on it gushes out the hole at the bottom of the capacitor housing
Hi Natasha, follow the video at 1:19 as this will help identify where the leak is coming from.
Hi,
I have water leaking out the side. I did as you suggested, took it apart and turned on the water but there wasn't any sign of a crack - the water came out the outlet valve.
But when you turn the power on (after putting it back together of course) the water is coming fast out the side and very little from the hose.
The motor isn't pulsing - it sounds as though it's on constant as though you are applying the water spray (or have the handle pressed)
I was going to order the rings but i'm not sure that's the problem. Any ideas?
Connect the outlet hose with the power disconnected when the water is attached as it helps pressurise the unit and show where the leak is.
Thanks, i'll give it a go.
😊
Mine makes an annoying squealing sound after the pump slows down and stops on my electric pressure washer. Theres no sound when im using it and the water sprays perfectly fine. Everything works fine but that god awful annoying sound everytime I let go of the trigger and the pump auto stops can someone help thanks in advance!
Hi Sentinel Ex, what model have you got? check you are not losing pressure as if one of the O ring seals is not sealing we have heard the pressure can make a noise.

my pressure washer continues to run and doesn't have any pressure.
If there are no leaks the problem is likely to be the cylinder head or the valve in the inlet elbow.
good one
😊
This video is 8 years old. I pray they have designed better pressure washers.
Good grief, this sounds like you need to take a washer to a proper mechanic.
Imma get me rags and buckets, thank you very much. 😅
does electric washer pressure crack or breaks glass?
Hi Clinton, funnily enough I was clean some decking last night and the splashes went over my patio doors so I gave those a good wash down after, You should not have a problem with normal or double glazed or car window but I wouldn't try washing your best crystal wine glasses. 😊
Yes😥!.. Avoid hitting any glass doors or windows with the unit
Where are you located ?
Hi Motia, our 'head quarters' are in Birmingham in the UK but we can supply parts across the world. 😊
i need more Informationen i by by evry 3 month karcher k2 its workin onlli 3 or 4 manth after that its not work i have more then 7 p s plis help me
Hi Mohamed, thank you for your post. We would recommend contacting the retailer or Karcher direct as your pressure washer will usually be covered under a 1-year guarantee.
Thanks
Hi James, your welcome and remember to like the video.
My machine is running but no water is coming ,what is the problem ,I hardly used .
Hi Rafi, check the cylinder head because if ti is cracked there will be no pressure.
Karchers are garbage, the wheels on mine don't spin and I have to drag it. Their engineers managed to mess up wheels.
Most Karcher's are inexpensive machines and are great for light to medium duty use. They do build some 'professional kit' that is obviously a lot more well made and powerful and more expensive as a result. And the end of the day it is your choice. If you need new wheels we should be able to help on our web site: www.espares.co.uk/browse/at1315ma877/pressure-washers/karcher
eSpares Thanks for your reply, I am spraying the wheels with silicon lube for now. The fittings for the hose and gun are also failing though.
Some plastic wheels use plastic axles that will wear quickly so using a lubricant will help. The 'cheaper' models hoses are often only a light weight plastic that if allowed to crease can fail quickly, We do a good kit that will fit most models and have a video here:
ua-cam.com/video/LGBbuIJ2aOY/v-deo.html
mikedrz mine has been treated like shit since 6 years i have it, still working fine like a horse.
Sadly, i have to agree. Mine has seen very light use, and today without any warning just lost pressure and developed a huge leak inside. Very dissapointed. "Made in Germany" doesn't means much anymore, it seems. Something that fails after such light use is not worth the effort to repair or use.
My k4 used three times, tripped my electric and will now not turn on
Hi Christopher, you will need to test the components, also check for a leak that may have caused the electrics to trip please see our video ua-cam.com/video/afPHu9LrRbQ/v-deo.html
how the hell do I remove the unloader valve on my karcher 670m ?? struggling !!
Hi Warren, we do not currently have a video on the replacement of the valve so hopefully, someone can leave a post.
replaced the cylinder head on karcher jubilee and now nothing at all....argggghhhh
Hi Pete, you haven't given much details. If the motor does not run check the switch and either brushes or motor capacitor (depending on model). For more information see another video:
ua-cam.com/video/afPHu9LrRbQ/v-deo.html
good
Hi Shaji, glad you enjoyed the video keep watching.
Thanks for the feedback, glad it is working correctly now.
mine sound burb... eekkkk stop eekkkk stop... why?
If the machine is stopping while running remove the spray lance as it may be partially blocked. If it keeps starting when not spraying you either have a leak or the pump seals are worn losing the pressure.
Mine leaked fixed it, shame they put cheap arse parts in to start with.
Hi Amathusukx, the majority of manufacturers are trying to cut costs all the time but we are glad you fixed it.
4 machines I know of, everyone of them split it's pump housing. Karcher are truly rubbish, I stop random people at Bunnings to steer them away from the brand
Hi Blair Knight, thank you for your post. We believe it boils down to the personal choice as the domestic range is intended for light use.
What are you doing.we can't see anything.becase the writing on the screen.
These units are absolute JUNK....Ive gone through 2 with warranty replacements...total garbage.
What have you replaced it with? Did you buy something better?
To many plastic parts and split under pressure. Very bad design.
Welcome to 2019.
bad explanation! When pulses can be 3 parts to be replaced which cost in total much more than a new one! Need to refine it.
Hi Tony, we do get a lot of issues with Karcher products and for a product that is expensive it is disappointing with the issues.
@@eSpares Thanks for responding. I'm going to try and get it fixed, but I know that this will be my last Karcher,
I'm giving my money to Kranzle next time.
