    I agree with your strategy on focusing on growth stocks first when young, and move to dividend stocks when older.

    For US market better buy growth stocks because your dividend is taxed 30%. And also after exchange rate it is not so attractive any more.
    For Dividend stocks better buy singapore stocks as there is no exchange rate risk and tax. However sg stocks are higher risk than US stocks. Once sg stocks dropped very hard to recover.

    • @KelvinLearnsInvesting
      @KelvinLearnsInvesting  3 роки тому

      Yea, i agree with u. US stocks are good for growth, SG stocks move really slow

    similar strategy. at first I was really hard on dividends and HODL for long term, but after reviewing the potential dividend payout this year, I sold some and dabbled into growth/speculative. it can speed up the process of achieving FI where eventually the ultimate goal is passive > expenses. but hopefully the dividend stocks then are still attractive!

    I split by investment capital 50% in SG REITS for Dividends and 50% in US Growth Stocks in a bid to have safety net and as part of diversification. When my Tesla and ARKK go up(or down), hand very itchy, want to move the low performing REIT stocks into growth stocks, but best is to stick to a safe plan in case of some crazy unforeseen situation in US.

    • @KelvinLearnsInvesting
      @KelvinLearnsInvesting  3 роки тому +1

      Oh wow, u have discipline. I converted my SG Reits into US growth stocks a while ago because i couldn't stand seeing the reits not growing

      @@KelvinLearnsInvesting Yeah, the itch to shift it over is strong, especially since I'm so bullish on Tesla and ARKG...but luckily I got in early and am around 4x currently on Tesla. So I got some "help" to resist the urge.

    I don't agree with the blanket rule of young people must go for growth and old people go for dividend. Its like saying young people should drive fast cars and old people drive slow cars.
    Growth stocks are at all time highs and definitely seems way overpriced. Its like buying a $100 sneakers at 200 to 300% premium.
    I am accumulating dividend stocks now for compounding effect simply because it is cheaper and no one wants it. When market corrects.. I will start buying growth stocks.
