So, its basically the same ChatGPT we all know and love, but as windows inside the unreal editor?
Meaning, I can now get the same erroneous code samples, misleading function names that don't belong to the stated objects, and lack of remembering something I just corrected it about 1 response ago... but INSIDE unreal engine?
I mean this in a light-hearted way of course, but seriously, so far I have wasted so much time down coding rabbit-holes offered to me by chatGPT, that turned out to be completely pointless.
That said, its been great with questions relating to trigonometry, algebra, Cartesian geometry, etc.
Maybe its got lawyers worried about its ability to pass the bar exam in the top 10%... (Which might actually say more about the legal profession than chatGPT's abilities 😄)
But as far as unreal C++ goes... that puppy cant code for spit.
(In a couple versions... then maybe we'll see)

Any programmer with 2 brain cells can quickly show exactly how dumb ChatGPT is with code. 😂 I would never use it for coding. But as you say, things like Math examples (and there are sooooo many use cases for knowing math and being a game dev) so I do find it to be pretty cool!

I actually made a plugin in c++ with GPT, if you know what to ask and you fit into niche category of knowing blueprints good enough and not knowing c++ enough, you can do working code

I love the idea of using gpt4 with ue5, but until gpt4 can do blueprints, or until someone can "teach" it unreal engine better, its just not there yet.
It can do some pretty cool python stuff....so can Ue...mix the 2 and never leave the engine LOL ill show you how soon...

True, gpt tends to just make stuff up a lot of the time. Once it told me to hook up niagara to a particle shader by using the 'point cloud to particle' module. Hmm where is that at GPT? Any ideas? Haha
Yes bro once it can generate blueprints on the engine it will make game developers unstoppable but it can write it for the time being for you
Give it a couple months, the plugins are already coming out, now we just need a proper plugin for Unreal Engine

Will be very helpful especially with models trained specifically to help with Unreal Engine. Even more so when natural language conversational interaction with AI is mastered. Just talk to UE as it shows and tells you how to progress step by step!

I tried following your video Step by Step but , you left out key information, like where to put your log in credentials. like what field ? also Do I have to download the Git hub thing and where do I drop it ?
Ah sorry about this, I will try and make sure the next video using this explains these things more clear. I find it is a tough balance between explaining too little to try and be brief vs explaining too detailed and then the video being long and criticized as such. Your login credentials are in the plugin project settings. User is your email and you need to have your generated API key in there as well. No need to download the git hub thing, you can just get this right off the marketplace. To date, v 1.5.1 is live.

Looks great, but my concern is when you ask for something specific is it going to know what you are talking about. For example, I am working on an underwater scene and want to create a waterline, will it be able to walk me through the process?
If you ask it to walk you through the process of creating a caustic light function to be used in a post process volume it might give you a hand ;) For things like that, I would probably just search a tutorial as the visual aid is very helpful. But it might be able to give you directions on getting it going, like a recipe. It is still in its infancy!! interesting but GPT is only trained up to 2021 so how would it really help with UE 5.1 and blueprints. may have better luck with it using c++.
Exactly my 1st thoughts! For the very new new of 5/5.1/5.2 etc it is not useful. That being said, SO much info from 4 applies and is out there so I have not found it to give me horrible answers, just as long as you dont ask post 2021 LOL then its all lies!
You should consider integrating custom instructions.
Ah yes that is indeed a great idea and one I have implemented yet not shared. Finding the time to experiment is one thing. Then documenting and sharing is another. So much left unedited in HDs no one will ever see. I'll do my best to make some content around this in 2024.
Does it work on the same database as chatgpt - up to september 2022 or it uses current knowledge?
If you have a Plus subscription, then yes within the OpenAI parameters (check their website for details)
or you can use the free version in a separate window with [always on top] on a second screen or phone.
What would be cool tho would be if it could generate flawless blueprints on its own from simple text.
Sure...or you can use it with blueprints to do some very cool stuff but most can't seem to grasp the power of this outside of just asking for text. Maybe my next videos will help put this silly point to rest.

Hi. Can I use my RVC voice model in this pipeline? so that my character can speak with special voice
It is possible to use TTS (text to speech). I think you may need to use azure.microsoft.com/en-us/products/ai-services/speech-to-text within Ue to access the API. The author has a demo project with this functionality built in but it requires separate logins and a subscription (I think, you'll need to double check this yourself.)
I’m mainly interested in scripting a default prompt to define its limitations and capabilities that the player never sees, and having it “stay in character” for the duration of the conversation. I already do this with Chat-GPT (paid GPT-4 user), and see how good it is at improvising a relevant conversation. It really teaches you “the art of the prompt”, which has probably already become a formal area of study. With really good text to speech (not sure we’re really there yet) and computer vision, you’d be able to interact with that character as them and as you in real-time, with any appearance, context, vocal timbre, etc, that you may want. You can probably even tell it in plain English what it’s ulterior motives are (if you know how to structure prompts well) and it’ll give you suggestions on how to script or code it. Doing this soon, for sure.

I don’t know yet. I would assume that there would need to be a ChatGPT component that you can add. Or maybe some new class altogether. I like the idea of a component much more.

Excellent Q! Yes and no, all depends on what you are doing. If you are using openAI within your game or interactive experience then 100% must be a plugin in the project. If you just want answers...like OG chat bots, then MS Edge Bing has GPT4 for free a few times a day (5/30 depending on user account)

I was thinking this plugin made itself that what I need it would be awesome because I can make same thing in browser and I can still use free version but if this plugin can make (I know it is impossible at least for now) what I need or what I want in inside the UE then it would deserve every penny.

No, this is not that type of tool. I have seen that they exist, but they are very simple and not to a point where it will do landscapes for you. Better off learning how to do that ;)

All in how you put it to use! It works great with AI text stuff, random images, helps me with my editor utility scripts and much more!!

I was hoping for a chatgpt unreal engine that when i type in a prompt make a box. that it could do it for me. This is ok but underwhelming. Hopefully there will be more in the future. Also this won't work for me for some reason. I am unable to find the ChatGPT plugin in advanced settings. To use the API. One thing I can do is access it as a tool but it's non functional
I totally agree...there is a very limited version, which is why I call it an 'executive assistant'. Its more like a handy helper than a tool to build for you. It will continue to improve! Make sure you have it installed in the proper engine, then turn it on in the plugins, enter API key and user name as well MUST be a paid account with OpenAI.
@Logan Pinney it didn't work for me. Maybe I have too many plugins installed. I didn't see the plug in the advanced options
I saw that unity now has an open AI assistant that does exactly, you write a prompt and it creates it in the editor for you! crazy times.

The unity one I think is what more ppl would like, they also made that for unreal. I found it laughable, it took longer for them to type the sentience than it would of to do the operation...that being said, this stuff is in SUPER early stages and only going to get better!! I only go into the very basic set up since that is what most users would like.
I have not gone over how to use this inside blueprints or set up with a character dialogue system to have ChatGPT NPCs (yes its doable).
It is also very handy to write python inside Ue. ChatGPT is pretty good at stealing python code so i can copy and paste code from in engine very quickly.
At the end of the day, totally up to you how you use ChatGPT. This is pretty friggin cool to me and if requested I can potentially make more advanced videos with this plugin to showcase even more powerful techniques. But then it would take away from you discovering how to do that yourself which is half the fun!!

Well I asked Chat GPT for an image of a 63 4 door caddy and a 73 bronze firebird racing in front of a convenience store. Guess what I got.... the two cars merged and painted blue. I mean how could it screw up something so basic... I detailed each car in the description and said they were drag racing.....
This sounds more like something to ask MidJourney and use linked reference images...its not perfect, its all about iteration and experimentation! As long as you got a kick out of your half baked result lol, its half the fun of AI hehe

Its going to be great when everyone can make content. So great that you'll have to wade through thousands of releases a day from thousands of people. Kind of like what destroyed bands when myspace came out and every hack band had a myspace and you couldn't find music you liked because you had to find a way to get through thousands of bad bands that all had equal voices.

Time stamp for where to find the plugin from the engine UI
updated versions of chat GPT with more recent informations available, plus chatGPT Plugin which finally allows it to interact with programs. This will change everything! maye 3-6 months. This here is unfortenaly useless, because the browser chat GPT 4 at least has the benefit of remembering the conversation. While using the API in the plugin every prompt is on it's own and there is no history.
This is all true, but the plugin creator is constantly making updates and I would go as far to say that perhaps he will add this feature?? I will request it of him!! Cheers Mikel!!

Example of a prompt in engine. At 1st thought...this is the same as google --- it is not I assure you, much more power to this than surface level.
Unless someone make this plug-in specifically with the accurate information of UE, it won’t be of much help since Chad is a compulsive liar. I have been having better luck with bing AI assistant since it grabs information from the internet and give me reference and documentation.
Bing Ai assist is good!!! But this is not so much to give you Ue info (yet) as it is more powerful for generative experiences with text/image/video/3d etc./..In response to Michael B (who asked if we could train out own data on it) I would love to train a data set on the Epic Docs and test it out!!

@@LoganPinney i mean hey it's your channel. do what you want. i'm just letting you know from new visitors perspective that i came because i am interested in both Chat GPT and Unreal Engine, so i was curious; but even now i still don't have. clue what the actual app is. every other tutorial video on UA-cam will at least explain or show at the beginning what the whole tutorial is about to help you get to. Like "Hey I'm gonna show you how to make delicious Lasagna. First, you need to make sure you've got all the right ingredients. Next warm up the oven to 375 degrees." Alls I'm letting you know in all interest of honestly is your video went straight to getting ingredients when I don't even know if we're making Lasagna or something else.

The next video is using the plugin to create a simple, yet effective to direct, NPC (non player character) dialogue set up. @@LoganPinney so to be super clear what i mean, you don't have to explain what ChatGPT is or Unreal Engine, anyone coming to this video knows that already, it's just we don't what that combination of the two is supposed to be as in what that app integration. it can be like a 3 second thing like "Once this is installed , you will be able to connect any game character or interface to ChatGPT and have them talk to you intelligently, in real-time." that's all you need, so we know what the end result is of doing all the setup stuff you are then about to show us. should be literally no more than 3 seconds

The fact that chat-gpt explicitly said that it was not intended for any serious work and everyone keeps trying to is hilarious. I'll stick to using my brain and building the skillset of coding. Coding already became lazy enough when they industry went from "you have to know how to code" to the "you just need to know the basics and can google the rest to code" method and now to the brainless method of asking something else to do your thinking and work for you smdh. Mediocrity should never be celebrated let alone never should be rewarded. People are already too lazy to learn how to use blueprints as it is(a visual based programming language that does most the coding for you)
Ive been using it to make stories for my toodler, tell me 1 line jokes, and make recipes for my vegan wife. Its all in how you see it. I dont actually use it for code as I enjoy to write my own algorithms.
I see where you are coming from with the code aspect. Code can be hard for some, not everyone has a computer science degree and sometimes we need to remind ourselves of that. Perhaps you can find some clever use of it another way>? Outside of the comp sci ecosystem? Or not, up to you!
I need to remember, the modern meaning of "free" tends to be "you get a free useless thing that is useful if you pay money". That makes me much less excited when I hear "free" because "free" is starting to mean "pay money" almost universally. Yet another word the meaning of which is being gutted and maimed, turned inside-out and on its head by modern society 😒

No it is free!!! I was wrong!! Another user proved me wrong, you just need to sign up and get an api key! If you pay for a sub, you will get into GPT 4 but only 25 prompts a day apparently...I have not tested it yet as not in the beta.

And really, using AI for writing code/blueprint is the worst laziest idea ever. I want to be sure 100% in my code, I want to know it inside out.
yea its not great for teaching in the sense that you would like it as your per your example. That being said, I don't get out much nor do I leave Ue editor much so for me so having a sounding board inside the engine is like a early version of Jarvis. I have since upgraded to ChatGPTPlus and am testing 4 with great success. There are also ways to train it with your own code and info and help it to help you. Its not a instant solution, over time it can be molded into a shape that resembles an executive assistant. Its also more of a fun thought experiment :p

Lol, does the browser link to your NPC Ai at runtime and generate dialogue for your game? Mine doesn't, so i use this plugin which helps me do that. If you lack the knowledge to set that up then feel free to stick around as I can teach you how to do that in my next video. Following that, a more advanced approach is linking prompts from gpt to dalle.
