This was from a show called the one Ronnie and was made by younger comedians who admired the two Ronnies.Ronnie Corbett was very supportive of younger comedians.
Catherine Tate was playing the role that Ronnie Barker used to play in ‘The Two Ronnies’ ie. the mate in the pub who used to jump in to finish Ronnie Corbett’s sentences, with comic results, so the sketch was a homage to that. Also, the one in the grocer’s shop was a little nod to the famous ‘Four Candles’ sketch that they did.
@
Trendle now that I think of it, you can also see some similarity between The Two Ronnies Pub sketch & Pete & Dud from the `60`s. (Peter Cook & Dudley Moore) :)
Orange was a mobile network in the U.K. It still exists in Spain. Ronnie Corbett didn’t stop working after Ronnie Barker died. Superbly talented man.
It's the old France Telecom (the French equivalent to BT) and is the major provider in France.
It merged with T-Mobile and is now EE.
A dongle is an attached device, typically a usb stick which contains software that is accessed in real time by other software running on the computer, dongles are often used to contain the encrypted activation key which allows a particular application to run on the computer, without the dongle present, the software will not run. Other devices like wifi connectivity housed in a usb stick are also referred to as dongles.
In computing, the term was initially synonymous with software protection dongles-a form of hardware digital rights management where a piece of software will only operate if a specified dongle-which typically contains a license key or some other cryptographic protection mechanism-is plugged into the computer while it is running.
The Two Ronnies : New at Ton, and Mastermind sketches
I've never seen this version before. I've seen the classic version with Ronnie Barker.
Both of these sketches are new versions of sketches by the Two Ronnies.
Love this sketch.thanks for putting it up.great reaction from you two.
Yes, Orange was a mobile network of the time, it late merged with T-Mobile and became EE.
I hadn't seen the Catherine Tate sketch.
You want to watch the 2 Ronnies, 'fork handles', also Ronnie Concetta's monologues
The Blackberry sketch was a modern version of the Four Candles with Ronnie Corbett and Ronnie Barker. Harry Enfield was taking the place of Ronnie Barker.
i thought for a moment it was ADE Edmunson
Yes Harry Enfield & Catherine Tate routines were modern updates on skits from Two Ronnie so
Team Try & do reaction to 'conversation ' between 2 Ronnie s where they converse using only letters of the alphabet
Hey hey I suggested this!
Really fantastic homage to four candles.
Weren't/aren't dongles used to get internet access without using wi-fi?
Or a dongle could be a WiFi adaptor.
I used a dongle for pay as you go wifi, just top it up like you do a pay as you go phone.
The word "dongle" was always a bit of a joke in parts of the UK . Up North, for example, we had the simile that someone was "as thick as a donkey's dongler" - or "dangler". So if your were to put your dongle into something ...........
A dongle is a small piece of computer hardware that connects to a port on another device to provide it with additional functionality, or enable a pass-through to such a device that adds functionality it can also come with a SIM cardto supply you with anything from 2 GB to 5 GB internet data it can also be a USB stick
Katherine Tate is very good at word play, etc.
A dongle is like a wireless USB
A dongle was a small device that connected to a usb port on a laptop to connect it to the internet via data, in the days when not everyone had wifi. It's obsolete these days but was popular in the mid-00's.
Good skits by Victoria Woods and Julie Walters, shoe shop sketch and and two soups they are British classics
These where from a special little Ronnie did called “The ONE Ronnie”
You should try some of Ronnies stand up material (well he is sat down but that's it.)
A Dongle is a little gadget you plug into your computer for some purposes. It looks like a memory stick.
have you seen tim vine? He's a master of wordplay
Another great video, thank you.
A tribute to Ronnie Barker, these were newer versions of the sketches The Two Ronnie did. Have you watched Face Jacker it’s comedy gold, a follow up to Phone Jacker. I’m sure you’d love his characters.
thanks guys for another amazing video.
Apologies if you have already reacted to this and I've somehow missed it, but I know Lilian likes word and grammar based sketches, I always think of the following Two Ronnie's sketch, The Man Who Repeats Things 😊 and how Lilian would react to it.
ua-cam.com/video/kazCgOpzHKs/v-deo.html 👍
Ronnie Barker is a lyrical word genius in this one 😃 what a legend he was, sorely missed by many 😔
Thank you Felipe & Lilian ♥️
All the descriptions of a "dongle" below are correct but RC was using the word in a "naughty" way i.e a man has one but a woman hasn't ( where's the embarrassed emoji?)
Orange is/was a mobile network taken over by EE. A dongle, to my understanding, was originally used to describe a 3G USB stick for laptops etc., but came to be used as a generic word for any USB stick.
Dongle only referred to the USB device used to get internet access when you didn't have wifi access, usually sold by mobile phone companies so you could use 3G or 4G to connect, fairly obsolete now with smart phones, I've never heard it used as a generic term for any other type of USB Stick.
@@RushfanUK A dongle is a small piece of computer hardware that connects to a port on another device to provide it with additional functionality, or enable a pass-through to such a device that adds functionality. In computing, the term was initially synonymous with software protection dongles-a form of hardware digital rights management where a piece of software will only operate if a specified dongle-which typically contains a license key or some other cryptographic protection mechanism-is plugged into the computer while it is running.
The term has since been applied to other forms of devices with a similar form factor, such as adapters that convert ports to handle different types of connectors (such as DVI to VGA for displays, USB to serial connection, and in modern computing, USB-C to other types of ports, and Mobile High-Definition Link),[2] USB wireless adapters for standards such as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi (the term "stick" or "key" is more commonly used to describe USB flash drives, as well as modern forms of dongles with slimmer form factors more akin to flash drives), and small form-factor digital media players that plug into HDMI ports. - "wiki" ...just sayin'...
A dongle is another name for a usb memory stick
BlackBerry was a phone.
His reference to Dongle is a polite way of saying his penis
Just in case no one has said, a dongle is a thumb drive.
Ronnie must’ve done these sketches after Ronnie barker died.
He did. This was done in 2010 and Ronnie Barker died in 2005.
Jared Griffiths that’s good to know. So Ronnie barker must’ve retired through I’ll health then.
That’s the trouble being a duo. If one partner dies, it’s usually the end of a career with the other one. Morecambe and wise the same.
Club! Allo Allo!
@@taffythegreat1986 Ronnie Barker retired from showbiz in 1988 to run an antique shop whilst he was still in perfect health. He made a few brief returns in the the early to mid noughties before his death in 2005. Ronnie Corbett continued performing until he died in 2016. Unlike Morecambe and Wise they were never a traditional comedy act rather than two separate comedy performers . An excellent Comedy actor ( Barker) and superb caberet act (Corbett).
@@scottandrewbrass1931 well they were the two Ronnies. Probably both comedians in their own rights. They still got together as a pair.
Either way it’s good that you mentioned that he retired before dying
A dongle is a usb memory stick.
Dongle = Flash drive...
It used to be a network
You guys missed numerous occasions to finish off each others sentences just then :)
A dongle is a USB device
You have a problem with the sound.
Both these skits were a tribute to The Two Ronnie's. I'm guessing Ronnie Barker had died by this time. Obviously Harry Enfield sketch was too modern and is a bit like the 'Fork handles' sketch.
Please react to rowan atkinson live - the devil 'toby' welcomes you to hell.
I was gong to explain what a dongle is, but watchtheskies explained it succinctly.
I imagined Catherine Tate's Lauren would of become this bar maid....God rest her sole.
“...would *have*...”,
not
‘...would of...’
Also, “soul” not ‘sole’
She's dead? Or are you just referring to the fact that she retired the character?
There was a sketch where Lauren died.
@@loosecannon5813 Did she take English grammar with her?
WOW "Postmodern" and don't know what a dongle is?
You guys are great, please stay here. Wuv woo 😂
Fun fact ronnie Corbett was one of the ugly step sister in Cinderella it's on UA-cam it's well worth a watch
Why the PIP and over audio commentry. Lost me.
Worse thing they’ve both been in
