- In this video, my wife and I react to the Two Ronnies comedy sketch about his blackberry not working. This was a great sketch and even more relatable now as blackberry phones no longer work as of 04/01/2021.

In case you hadn't realised, Orange was a mobile network in the UK. Its since been merged into EE. Also, only one of those guys was in the original Two Ronnies. Ronnie Barker had passed away when this was made and Ronnie Corbett has done so since. The guy behind the counter is Harry Enfield.
Makes me laugh and cry in equal measure. Fantastic humour and so sad that both Ronnies are no longer with us. Harry was a perfect substitute in this sketch though.
and EE gets advertised in the UK by the incomparable Kevin Bacon
Specifically, Orange UK merged with T-Mobile UK to form EE, which launched on April 1, 2010.
This sketch originally aired on December 25, 2010, which meant that at the time this was shown, Orange and T-Mobile never existed as a company, although they still existed as their own brand until February 2015.
@@synaesthesia2010 Because he lost all his savings....
Yes. This sin't the Two Ronnies at all. Although in the spirit of the original it's very obvious and not hard as funny. :(
Harry Enfield was the perfect modern(ish) comedian to be a foil to Ronnie C's style of comedy.
You can clearly see how desperately hard Harry Enfield is trying not to laugh, Ronnie Corbett has been doing this for years and hides it better. The Two Ronnies comedy was sometimes a bit saucy but never really crude.
its the best bit to me :D@@blacktronlego
As you may have noticed, this doesn't include Ronnie Barker, but instead has Ronnie Corbett and Harry Enfield. Ronnie Barker died in 2005 before this sketch was made.
"One Ronnie"
Harry did well
Booting it is a British term for kicking something. So British and sharp honour. Their timing is perfect. Love it xx
RIP Ronnie B. This was a lovely throwback tribute and Harry Enfield was a great choice to stand in here.
This is from a show called 'The One Ronnie'. Ronnie Barker - the other Ronnie - died in 2005. Sadly now, both Ronnies have died
This is a brilliant sketch with two generations of iconic comedians.
Sadly, dear Ronnie Barker - who played the socially awkward customer in the 'Four Candles' sketch, decades earlier - passed away in 2005. In this 'sequel' sketch, Ronnie Corbett - who was the original irate shop keeper in 'Four Candles' - is playing the customer with the frozen blackberry. Behind the counter is Harry Enfield. The genius of the writing is certainly comparable with the earlier sketch. Love the booting of the apple! Btw: "That's a raspberry!" - Nope! Definitely a blackberry!
This is perfect.. Just proves that true comedy lasts the ages
“Putting a blackberry on an orange” Orange was a Uk mobile network at the time so the joke made sense.
( Now EE but still Dutch)
Orange was originally French owned, tmobile was German owned, one2one was also a part of it too. They merged their British interest form ee. In 2016 BT bought EE. At no point has EE been a Dutch company.
@@bionicgeekgrrl I apologise you are absolutely correct. I was really just trying to explain the joke. I don’t know why I said they were Dutch other than the clear signal ex Orange customers get on the north Norfolk coast.
Harry Enfield is amazing. There was a programme when I grew up called ‘Harry Enfield and Chums’ which was always brilliant. ‘Kevin the teenager’ is hilarious and very relatable xx
Hi Angela 👋 xx
For the complete picture, you really should start with Harry Enfield's Television Programme. You get to see Kevin the annoying little brother transform into Kevin the teenager, then.
And the film Kevin and Perry Go Large!
I loved Harry Enfield
Dongles in case you didn't know were actually security devices but people started calling flash drives dongles, but a dongle was only used for security purposes not storage :-)
This is not the Two Ronnies. It's only Ronnie Corbet, Ronnie Barker was long gone when this was done. This special was called The One Ronnie. Here is is performing with Harry Enfield.
Harry Enfield playing the foil to Ronnie Corbett, using all of the physical traits of the late Ronnie Barker, and nearly losing it at the end. Great comedy.
Hey guys. You're never going to be disappointed with any of the vintage Two Ronnies Sketches. That sketch was a few years ago. Because the last Ronnie (Corbett in the sketch) the customer died in 2016. Yes Orange was a cellular phone network. RIP Ronnie Barker (1929-2005) RIP Ronnie Corbett (1930-2016)
I love the way Harry Enfield and Ronnie Corbett daren't look at each other towards the end. I wonder how many takes they had... ?
By the time this was made Ronnie barker had already died. So this is Ronnie Corbett and Harry Enfield. Who is another great British comic
Oh ok. They seemed to have good chemistry as well
This entire sketch is an homage to another sketch "Four Candles".
This sketch is just as clever as Fork Handles! :D
If you want to see more comedy, try Victoria Wood . . . Try her "2 Soups" sketch with Julie Walters, Duncan and Celia. She (Victoria) is not in it herself this time, but her usual acting friends are. If you enjoy that - Then try her, "Acorn Antiques" sketches from her weekly TV show. Which she created from a mash-up of some, but mainly ftom a soap called Crossroads back then. Which were hilarious episodes of a spoof soap (these episodes are/were available in their created order on YT to watch). . . she really did so much in her short life that everything is truly memorable really . . . her spoofs, sitcoms, songs and films . . . RIP Victoria . . .
A favourite is her song about Barry and Freda.
@@christinestromberg4057 The Ballad of Barry and Freeda, and while you are at it nicely used in the Ballad of Russell and Julie, as in a wrap up from David Tennants time on Dr Who.... ua-cam.com/video/-7WYQ_fmJ7Y/v-deo.html
ua-cam.com/video/fFI5Jl_IqsE/v-deo.html - the original
@@docksider Hmm I tried that one but couldn't make out a lot of the lyrics. Pity.
*The shop keeper was played by Harry Enfield, the shop keeper in the old one was played by ronnie barker but has unfortunately passed away*
Dongle is a common synonym for a usb thumbdrive
Great reaction guys,FYI,just in case no ones told you blackberrys are red until they ripen, stay safe and well and look forward to seeing more reactions from you guys.
In the true spirit of _The Two Ronnies,_ who were known for their sketches using word-play (mostly written by Ronnie B under his _Gerald Wiley_ pseudonym). This rather poignant one-off sketch show was called _The One Ronnie,_ after Ronnie B had sadly died. A load of modern comedians partnered with Ronnie C for this special event in a series of short sketches. The Blackberry sketch is lovely and very well written. It reminds many of us who knew and loved the Two Ronnies, of what we miss. (Ronnie C has himself died since this was recorded). For vintage Two Ronnies, check out the Optician sketch (on Dailymotion only iirc) Crossed Lines, and the Mastermind sketch, though some of the references may be a little old (or too specifically British) for you in that last one, but all three are _impeccably_ well-written. Enjoy!
This was from and for an older generation who grew up with no internet or mobille phones.
We didn't even have landline phones in most homes growing up - mobiles were a science fiction thing back then. Their tech terminology is referencing that, and highly amusing to us befuddled older ones who even viewed tv remote controls with awe, unable to use them at first.
It was only 1 of the 2 ronnies, (the customer) the other guy sadly died, my claim to fame I met him lol, came in my shop, sat hidden in corner and listened to funny things customers said, (later used 1 in a skech he did!), other guy looked like Harry Enfield, very funny man, some of his shows are brilliant!
This was 'The One Ronnie' Christmas special. A TV special for Ronnie Corbett after Ronnie B had sadly passed. Can't remember what year it was on.
This show was actually called The One Ronnie! Never saw the whole thing - but I think it’s sketches similar to those on The Two Ronnies - although Ronnie Barker wrote a lot of them under the nom de plume of Gerald Wiley!
the guy who nearly cracked is Harry Enfield another best comic
This was made after Ronnie Barker died, Harry Enfield stood in for Barker I think it was made for charity show. Brilliant sketch. Thank you.
The British call it a Dongle. You Pratt.
Hey guys this was a comic relief sketch and it was in rememberance for the late Ronnie barker and the comedian took his place was Harry enfield
NB "performed live" in fact most British sketch shows are recorded in front of a live audience so unless there is a major fail it would be done in one continuous shot and continue through minor fluffs
Great to see you enjoying this.
The Two Ronnie's were always very funny.
Blackberry was the iphone - before the iphone. It was a massive success in IT and working in offices. You had e-mail, internet access etc etc etc before the iphone was even invented.
As others have mentioned this was not actually The Two Ronnies, as Ronnie Barker had passed away by then, but, Ronnie Corbett did his own show called The One Ronnie where this sketch appeared. You may be able to find it on BBC iPlayer or however you guys view BBC shows.
My dad and I used to watch these guys when I was a teenager, late 1970s to mid 1980s, and we used to laugh so hard. Unfortunately, my dad passed away not so long ago. I'd love to have watched this with him. The Two Ronnies are such comedy geniuses.
This was one Ronnie.
Loved this. Ronnie Corbett has always been one of my faves here in the UK. Check out - Kids In The Hall from Canada in the 90s. One of my fave sketches of theirs is The Doctor. Dave Foley is always hilarious, but he's just brilliant in this sketch. Quirky, surreal comedy always wins for me :-) Have a wonderful rest of your day.😊
There is only one of the original two Ronnie's in this sketch as Ronnie Barker passed away before this. The guy behind the counter is Harry Enfield
Love the editing, You are getting better by the day it seems! keep it up!
ronnie barker who was ronnie corbetts long time partner was a master at word manipulation. he had died by the time of this sketch
Ronnie Corbett. True legend.i have to say the British sense of humour is second to none..once again good reaction.🇬🇧👍
I love edgy comedy but equally love straight clever comedy that mines the rudiments of what comedy must always be. Funny.
Wordplay,
Comedic timing and a
Touch of deadpan
Absolutely typical English humour
It might have been an under-ripe blackberry, rather than a raspberry. About 15 months after this aired, a company released a barebones computer circuit, called Raspberry Pi. The Raspberry Pi boards have proven very popular with nerds, geeks, and tech tinkerers. A dozen or so other companies have emerged over the last decade, offering similar boards. So no in addition to the Raspberry Pi, there is the Orange Pi, and the Banana Pi. There is also the Onion Omega, and Le Potato. The ARM chip at the heart of the board is a RISC processor. ARM grew from the developments made by a company called Acorn (another fruit). It sold 8-bit micros, mainly to schools in the 1980s. Back then there were a few British computer companies with fruit names... Apricot (from 1965), and Tangerine, which sold the Oric 8-bit micro, (mainly to France) .
Nice they watching the updated 4 candles sorry fork handles........ could not wait for this one. Right now off to the vid I go. Btw thanks for these vids. You two are the most wholesome thing I watch on yt. Ta fornthe continued hardwork you two. Takecare. Regards.
What unwholesome things do you watch? 😉😁
Thank you so much! We really appreciate your feedback
As was pointed out this was just Ronnie Corbett as Ronnie Barker died in 2005. The Show "The One Ronnie" was recorded with a number of top tier British Comedians (Harry Enfield in this sketch) in 2010 and this was released on Christmas Day 2010 as a one of special. Ronnie Corbett unfortunately passed away in 2016.
I haven't seen this previously and I have to agree with you guys saying it is so clever. Yeah, Ronnie Corbett is more elderly in this one and I'm presuming that Harry Enfield was taking the place of the much loved and sadly missed Ronnie Barker.
Nice reaction and this has put a smile on my face...
Dongle is another name for boys/men "best friend" down there. That's why the other almost laughed. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The term "dongle" has been around for years. Dongles could be anything that stuck out of one of the ports of a computer. Sometimes they'd be anti-piracy devices that came with software. And yeah, when I first came across the term in the 80s, I thought it was a stupid term too.
In case you didn't get it, a dongle can be a slang word for a thumb drive but can also refer to the male reproductive organ.
It was Ronnie Corbett and Harry Enfield, this sketch was done in 2010 five years after the death of Ronnie Barker and six years before Ronnie Corbett died. This was part of a forth coming Sketch series which was devised by Matt Lucas, David Walliams and Geoff Posner from Little Britain Productions, David Walliams left Before it became a series. Comedians Griff Rhys Jones, Lenny Henry and Jasper Carrot were also involved.
The shop keeper is Harry Enfield and the customer is Ronnie Corbert.
Ronnie Barker (the original) died in 2005. Harry Enfield is playing him here. Ronnie Corbett died a couple of years after this show. From memory it was from a special tribute from about 2013. The 2 Ronnies was a 70s show really.
I've not seen this one, That was ever clever.
Thanks for sharing this!
That was so cleaver- loved it 👍
As an Australian who enjoys British humor try " UP START CROW " with David Mitchell . he plays Shakespeare set in the time Harry Enfield plays his father in law ..
I'm english. I love your reactions. Thanks for the great content 😀
Just the one Ronnie, Ronnie Barker having died six years before this sketch was made. Ronnie Corbett here is 81 years old (2011).
Crushing big time on Angela!! Loving the videos guys, keep up the great work!
Orange was a cellphone network company, if you were wondering.
BTW Ronnie Barker wasn't in that clip. They guested Harry Enfield to go with Ronnie Corbett.
Ahh I thought it might have been something like that
one of the two ronnies died and the other bloke took his place for that sketch (Ronnie Barker and Ronnie Corbett were the originals back in the 1970,s)
You might like 'The two Ronnies' at the opticians.' The whole sketch is on the internet - about 5 minutes. It features, Ronnie Corbett and Ronnie Barker, the genius behind most of the sketches. It's got to be about 15 years old, as we say in the UK 'the olden's are the best'!!
Yep, great sketch ! "No, you're reading all the furniture"!
I enjoyed that. A clever play on the words.
There was only one ronnie in that sketch the other one is resting in peace
Classic British comedy. Of course, IT has so many wacky words (dongle, boot, etc) that making up a sketch like this is easier. Good, low-key, subtle acting too.
Harry Enfield in this sketch
is another great comic to react to. "You don't wanna do that"
Harry Enfield is the shop keeper and Ronnie Corbet is one half of the Two Ronnies
I have been trying to think of what your name would be and I was totally wrong lol. Its nice to be able to put a name to a face when I are watching though :)
It's just one Ronnie. The shop keeper is Harry Enfield another British sketch show comedian. Ronnie Barker died in 2005. Check out some of his other work namely porridge which is a show set in prison and open all hours a show about a grumpy shop keeper.
Love when he mentions about the black spots on the orange,
Referring to the poor reception you used to get on the Orange Network, even when you were stood on top of a hill directly under their phone mast’s,
L🤣L
Sadly, this is not the Two Ronnies as Ronnie Barker had passed away before this was filmed. It is the one Ronnie (Ronnie Corbett - now also sadly deceased) plus Harry Enfield. Nevertheless, it is still in the vein of the Two Ronnies' comedy. RIP both!
the shopkeeper was harry enfield,
You ain't seen nothing till U watch Dave Allen on religion/on Adam & Eve/on teaching children the time/ & much more.He was on TV for about 25yrs because he was so popular & controversial without swearing which is a sign of a great comedian like the 2 Ronnie's, most modern comedians can't do their act without using the F word.He can attract big viewing numbers. All the best.
love you guys , love ya channel, love your reactions, keep doin what ya doing Ethan & Angela
Dongle was one of the early versions of plug-in internet devices before they were known as portable wifi.
miss these guys
This sketch was done after Ronnie Barker had past away it was Ronnie Corbett and the shop keeper was Harry Enfield very cleaver sketch love 💕 from Denise in Yorkshire England 🏴😂😂😂👏👏👏👍🥰👋
The shop keeper was replacing Ronnie Barker. The customer was Ronnie Corbett.
A dongle was a nickname for an apple corer back on the day
Two ronnies master mind
This was a modern twist on the four candles sketch, its a bit goofy and not quite as good but at least the young kids understand it. I recommend the 'squish' sketch for you next, its hilarious.
That just about summed up the confusion the older generation has with all the words associated with computers. Great reaction.
Harry Enfield was cracking, Ronnie Corbett straight faced. Ronnie Barker, the other Ronnie had passed away before this was made. It was Ronnie Barker, that wrote many sketches like this for the Two Ronnies show.
Ronnie Corbett and ronnie Barker
Corbett is the really short guy
Lovely to see you guys, in the middle of America, enjoying some of our great British humour (or humor, as you might say). The two Ronnies were brilliant, but Ronnie Barker, who wrote almost all of their material, died. Ronnie Corbett is performing this sketch with Harry Enfield, who has done some brillaint comedy over the last 30 years or so, and might be worth your while having a look at, including his characters on a show called Saturday Night Live (with Ben Elton), the Harry Enfield television show, the Fast Show, and other stuff.
He had an apple and a blackberry, but he didn't bring in a raspberry, for some reason :)
Would have been lost on the older generation
Ronnie Corbett is one of those, unfortunately rare, examples of a performer who had a full, diverse and interesting life and managed to be universally admired without any controversy. I love how they use the fruit analogy to get across the difficulties older people have keeping up with technology. You guys get it because you are young and understand, some older folk love the clip because they are older and can struggle with the constant changes.
It's not the two, Ronnie's. It's Harry Enfield stepping in for Ronnie's Barker, who died, and Ronnie Corbett has also died now
One of the comedians is Ronnie Corbett - half of the Two Ronnie’s - the other comedian in this skit is Harry Enfield - very witty in his own right
Who stayed until the end again??? I did, Angela!
And me, Angela - LOL !
That was Harry Enfield and Ronnie Corbett . It still makes sense.
That was not the Two Ronnies ! It was one Ronnie plus Harry Enfield. The other Ronnie was deceased.
Great sketch, man the word play awesome & hilarious.😂😂👌 The guy behind the counter is Harry Enfield, cause when this was done Ronnie Barker had passed away, now they're both gone now, a sad loss to comedy.
Not seen that what before, so funny x
Half right just one Ronnie.
Harry Enfield, Stavros "loads of money" also the film "Kevin & Perry Go Large"
Hi Folks yep classic sketch I think it was a one-off to celebrate Ronnie Corbett's 80th birthday, Harry Enfield was playing Ronnie Barker's part (Another great british comedian you should check out) Sadly both of the Two Ronnies have passed now Ronnie Corbett 2016 & Ronnie Barker Passed 5 yrs before this sketch which was from 2010 Anyway all the best Jim, Surrey, UK X
You guys should definitely react to the 2 Ronnie's "Plumstead ladies, male voice choir."
This was done as a tribute to Ronnie barker, who was the main writer behind the two Ronnies. Check out porridge, some of Barkers best work.
