  • My hair finally had a bath!!! After 4.5 years into this Loc journey, I did my FIRST #locdetox. My hair was nasty and I was afraid the color would be stripped off. But it didn’t. I’ll upload the full video to / nateah this week!
    I used @thelocmaven acv cleansing shampoo
    • a little bit of dawn
    • 2 gallons of hot water (2/3 of the kitchen sink
    • 2/3 cup of baking soda
    • 1/2 cup lemon juice
    • 1 cup of Apple cider Vinegar
    • some sea salt.
    I opened up the Loc first (to expose the dirt) then shampooed it, soaked then shampooed it again with a moisturizing shampoo.
    Let me know if you have any questions

    Your locs are so beautiful! Loving the color so much! I couldn't do all you do. I'd be tired just from unraveling the locs I'd never get to the rest.

    Lemon will take some of the color out. We used to put it on our hair to create "sun streaks". Worked awesome in the summer.

      Isn't amazing how natural fruits etc can change our hair!? Way back in the day, they used to use berries to color hair!

    Loved the tutorial but question....my son wants the end of his dreads re dyed and also wants a detox (never done one before). Should we dye, or detox hair first? Also, did I hear you say "this is Dawn" when you were washing lol?

      Hey there! I would detox before recoloring his hair otherwise the detox could wash the color down after time. I retained a lot of color initially but it began to fade faster than it normally would. I also wouldn't do the detox and the color around the same time. The detox can strip a lot of the moisture out and you would want to replenish the moisture before coloring his hair. What color does he want?

      @@Nateah hi! We already colored it and it's like a blonde. He comes back home in 2 weeks and is thinking about red. Will it be too soon to recolor then and since I already did it, should I detox later? Hope all of this info isn't confusing

    What brand color do you have in?

    • @Nateah
      @Nateah  Рік тому

      I go between 2 brands. Pravana & Pulpriot. I started out using Pravana, violet mixed with wild orchid for the purple and aquamarine of the blue/teal color. Now I primarily use Pulpriot Velvet for the purple and Blue Muse of the blue color.

    Is adding a detox ball to the products you used also okay to use?

    • @Nateah
      @Nateah  3 роки тому +1

      I think it depends on the healthy of your hair and the ingredients in the detox ball. You may not need both at the same time.

    what the sea salt do ?

    • @Nateah
      @Nateah  Рік тому

      Sea Salt works as a good cleaning/scrubbing agent. I use it with oil for my pedicures and it gets dead skin off. Sea Salt also serves as a catalyst for vinegar, to boost cleaning and deodorizing action.

    How long did you soak?

    • @Nateah
      @Nateah  3 роки тому +1

      I let it soak for about 5-10 minutes because I had shampoo on my hair to help work through the filth. I would have soaked longer had it just used the acv rinse ingredients by itself.

    If it's like me, a lot of that color will end up in the sink or wherever you are doing this detox

    • @Nateah
      @Nateah  3 роки тому

      yeah the color eventually faded by not as quick I thought.
