this is one of the coolest things ive ever seen whatttt, i completely forgot crayons were made of wax (i know, im stupid) and i was just using coloured glue gun sticks before BUT now my life has been revolutionised !!!!! thanksssss xx
Thank you for this! I'm attempting a high end wedding invite on a dollar tree budget and this is exactly what I needed! Rather than doing a spoon by spoon melting method, I used an old metal pet bowl, sat it on my electric stove on the lowest possible setting. Added two glue sticks and a crayon, let my wax mix stay in the diy warming plate, spooned out enough for each seal, and pressed. It stayed melted until I was done making my seals so no spoon holding and it let me make a larger batch of a mixed color to match my invites!
Thank you! Oh something I forgot to mention, I used a crayola metallic crayon (the kind with silver dust/pigment mixed into it). Turned out wonderful. Gives it a subtle sparkle! They're a bit more expensive than normal ones here ($3 a box for 24), but I figured I'd splurge a little! It is my wedding after all. Lol
the sanding step is really clever! i have tried this with clay and was wondering how to get cleaner edges, this is a really good idea. :) now i can go make personalized stamps for my friends! thank you!
I’d add a clear coat to the stamp so wax detaches easier! The roughed up surface from the sandpaper encourages sticking, but a smooth surface will peel better. A spray on clear coat would leave the most even surface and can be found for under $10, but I’ve seen glossy mod podge at the dollar store if you’re on a SUPER tight budget
If you don't have clay sculpting, ball point pens work pretty well too. I tried toothpicks but since I was using really soft clay it made a lot of tears in the clay.
That's a great idea! I imagine using thicker sculpting materials would be way better when using softer clay. I'll remember that for the future, thanks!
Thank you so much for the video! I've ordered some supplies from Wish (the "stove", the spoon, some wax and a stamp), but the wax was taking way too long to arrive. Yesterday, I've made some with beeswax, hot glue and powdered pigment - they turned out great ❤ -, but was kinda bored about having just one stamp. Since my dnd campaign is gonna restart in 10 days and one of the most relevant symbols of it is totally custom made, I'll definetely try following your tutorial! Thank you once again, and congratulations for the wonderful content 😍
What great ideas. Thanks for your fantastic, organized and just plain enjoyable video! I am going to do this. I make everything else so why not? I have heard that a clay like you used was only good for about ten seals. Please share your experience with their longevity. Thanks so much!
Great DIY project. Am I able to use store bought wax? I have a bunch already and I like the idea of making your own seal. And do I have to place the wax on parchment paper or can I place the wax directly on the envelope flap? Thanks!
thanks! I haven't used store bought wax but you can definitely try it out. As for putting it directly onto the envelope, you could do that for sure. I just like doing it on the parchment paper first in case it doesn't turn out as well as I want it so I'm not wasting envelopes. Good luck!
Thanks so much for this comment, and the encouragement! A new job coupled with the start of the pandemic kinda threw me off making videos for a while. I'm hoping to have a new video up this month though and get back in to it since I really enjoy making them.

Hello! I just saw your video. I hope you can still answer my question. I don't have low-grade glue stick, and of course because I need it, I can't seem to purchase it anywhere near me. Can I use high temp glue stick? Or should I wait till I get some in stock at my local stores? TiA
Hi! I just used low temp because it's what I had. You could give it a try, I don't know if the spoon would get hot enough to melt it. so I'd say be careful and try it out and see! Good luck :)
@@RosemaryTravale I tried and it was great...but I didn't use spoon, I used those tea candle warmers from Dollar Tree and tea candle...I don't have the patient on waiting to melt with the spoon. That's just t me tho. THANK YOU!
Hi! You might need to add a bit more glue to make it less runny. I just carefully drip the wax mix slowly into the same spot so it will pool in to a circle, making sure I'm working on a flat surface. I also made some that weren't that perfect of a circle when I was trying it out to start, it took a little practice to get them nice and neat. Good luck! !
You can use just a bit of wax to hold your paper together. Set it aside. Now use your seal and wax to make a stamping just like she showed in this video only do it on parchment or wax paper. When it cools remove it. Add a bit of melted wax to the back of your new seal and press it onto the exact spot you sealed the paper in the beginning. Hold for a bit. That's it. You can make lots of stampings on wax paper and if they don't turn out, just remelt and try again. Three M two sided Tape can also attach your wax to the paper instead of melted wax.
You could use anything really, a little piece of wood, some plastic. Anything you can adhere the clay to, you will just need to research an appropriate glue that will make it stick
I think that might not react well with how hot the wax is, you could certainly try it but I don't know what the results would be. Polymer clay will have been baked solid so that's why it works so well. The model magic might also be too soft, could work better as an ink stamp though!
@@Jasmine-dx9kn I think as long as it's something that is relatively hard and won't melt it could work, I've only done it with polymer clay so that's the only thing I know for sure. If you try some other stuff I would just say be careful you don't melt anything from the heat of the wax so just keep a close eye on it! Good luck!
@@stephaniesteph1748 Oh sorry! So I tried it, but a part of the wax seal broke because it stuck to the clay. Maybe it was because of the wax i used or something but i definitely would recommend to try it on your own! :)
