Sitting here rewatching the video looking at that giant “5C-reflux, 20hr” on step 9-10 behind me on the screen. Was paying so much attention to what the actual passages in the paper said I didn’t even notice it in that graphic. Still learning quite a lot about doing independent experiments but I’ve been having a blast. Does the audio sound any better from previous videos? Do you like the green screen effect or the TV/prop background better? I’ve been experimenting around with an AI called RunwayML so that’s how the background is removed but I’m just up against a white wall so it’s not as good as a true green screen. It’s a suite of tools and they also have a “cleanup audio” feature so I tried that during the intro. It’s a paid monthly AI though so I’m only going to continue using it if it provides a really good benefit. It’s extremely slow to have to upload the intro/conclusion, process it online, export it, then download it so I hope they improve the speed a bit. I also got a media mod mic for my GoPro so there is a likely a difference between my first few updates during the procedure vs my last (I shoot the intro and conclusion at the end of my experiments so the new mic is in those clips.)
Hi mate! Great to see you take on this project too, the photo reactor set up looks very cool! I'm hoping to go to a flow chemistry set up as well eventually..... that paper is a great find. Best of luck with the next attempt!
Hi Max! I'm so impressed with your setup, tenacity and knowledge. This is a joy to watch. QUESTION: I noticed that you're using the fabric insulated, chord type thermocouple (don't know the official name) vs. metal shielded wand type and you're placing it in your reactant. Have you noticed any downsides to this? Do you clean them somehow or do you consider them expendables? I ask because I'm looking into options for purchase. Thank you for your time.
Much appreciated!! Was taking advantage of some free time I had during the holidays but that will come to an end on Monday so they’ll be a bit more spread out. I am investing a decent amount of money into the videos and have several project ideas for the next one so I will have to check Patreon out sometime soon!
Great video! I've been following Tom's journey through cubane and stumbled on yours today.. Audio sounds great. I'm really happy your lightbox setup is better than his, hahaha.
Thank you for the feedback! It took me forever to get that GoPro media mod to actually work and apparently the external mic I bought for it doesn’t work so I’m glad to know the one that comes with the mod is okay. For the photo box I did run the idea through my head of painting the outside white and spraying some rust on it LOL. The rust just adds character! I love that fridge.
No gloves again! This should be mandatory for everything even the most inert substances. If you continue with reactions you will regret not using gloves.please Use gloves with everything

Don’t push to get videos out, you’re doing great and they take as long as they take. You starting a Patreon?
