An alternative to c section
Even in a bow only run, the lacerating arrows are still never even mentioned. Yea, there are only 55 of them in the game with no renewable supply, and bows have any natural bleed on them, but this is just needlessly harsh and unfair treatment!

I case anyone is curious about the ring thing, they all only work for weapons, not arrows. Flynn's Ring specifically only works for melee attacks, the Ring of Blades just adds a flat amount of physical damage (although it's reduced if the weapon does split damage), and the clutch rings increase the weapon's damage of the appropriate element by a percentage. The Old Dragonslayer Ring is different in DS2 than it is in every other game. It actually tracks which attacks are thrust attacks completely separately from which attacks do thrust type damage, and all damage (even elemental damage) from thrust attacks is increased for counter hits. Not just the thrust damage. There are even spells that count as thrust attacks for the purpose of the Old Dragonslayer Ring even though they don't do any physical damage of any kind. Mostly things that have arrow or spear in their name.

5:05 I disagree, its actually pretty useful since it allows you to shoot the bell from a fairly large distance away allowing you to skip an entire section of that area.
And when we needed him most he was there
Not sure if it works in this version, but teeeeeeechnically you could have done the OTHER Dragonrider cheese, and killed him from the bridge! Actually how I beat him my first go at the base game, just shooting arrows until his health bar ran out. 😂😂😂
Before even watching it, I know you had such a fun time fighting Elana (probably as much as I did doing this challenge)
Edit: You got lucky. I just had to accept the bell boy and fight her while avoiding him as she kept summoning her.
Regarding the ring issue at 17:00 -- I'm not an expert by any means, but as far as I'm aware, this is because of something like "RoB and clutch rings increase your weapon's AR for MV calcs, while Flynn's adds physical damage to your weapon after." I think this is because Flynn's has to have its own scaling, or something. But I'm told that Flynn's doesn't improve Critical damage, so it didn't surprise me that it doesn't add damage to arrows. Similarly, spells scale off of the relevant AR of the staff or chime or flame, and so the damage from Flynn's also only applies to regular melee attacks. Oh, and you also get no benefit to the MGLS beam, I think. Weird, but consistently weird.
Also, Leo ring works differently in this game -- it applies to the total AR (including elemental) of the weapon, unlike in the other two games. This is because every weapon in this game has a counter strength, and so the ring checks if the weapon deals any thrusting damage, then increases the counter hit value... instead of modifying the calculation of the target having reduced thrust defense. The latter is why only physical thrust damage benefits in the other games, afaik.
...I bet Flynn's doesn't apply to AR Leo Ring counterhits... maybe it does, IDK

Flynn's Ring applies a flat damage bonus rather than actual AR while the Ring of Blades applies AR and what I assume the clutch rings do when in relation to bows is that while they boost the bows damage arrows apply a sort of status to the enemy which scales off of your bows stats and thus cant be directly boosted which is why Flynn's Ring and Clutch Rings dont work for arrows specifically

Fun fact: with enough range (and damage), you can shoot the dragonrider from the platform with the first lever, leaving him with 1hp.
EDIT with fun fact 2: again with enough range, you can shoot the bell in no man's warth from waaay downtown. I think you skip the encounter with gavlan in scholar, though.
EDIT2 fun fact 3: when najka plants her tail into the ground, you can hop on her, freezing her AI and cheese killing her with the bow.
Before I even watch, DS2 was the first bow run I did and it was so fun it made me do DS, DS3, and ER (not the DLC yet). I regretted those other three, in DS2 I almost always have a bow for utility and didn't realize how often I used it, which made the run much easier than the others where I rarely touch them save for greatbows.
Was fully expecting you to murder Pursuer with the ballista. You know, the giant bow and arrow mounted to a cart.
Gamers Weekend is great. He was my first real Souls challenge runner. His music choice, gameplay, and jokes are sublime. I never get tired of watching his runs.
Archery only was my playthrough for the very first time beating the game. Honestly, with all the variety of arrows and being able to hold a max of 999, I think it is a nice way for more beginners/less experience people to play as you really have to learn the boss in order to get the timing of your arrows down. Except for the handful of bosses that have a lot of enemies with them, it really wasn't that hard.

There is definitely one thing that i wish carried over to other souls games. I wish bows and Greatbows all had different draw speeds like they do in DS2

The Draginrider bow was my go to. Long draw + high dmg was worth it.
Very fun to one shot foes from far away
i remember that you could headshot Mytha if you actually aimed for her head, its not the most helpful thing but it's still fun to know

Sorcery DS2 run when?
I actually did it recently, its dissapointingly easy, once you get the staff of wisdom and soul geyser, you can literally just play as dumb as you want
The only place that it makes a problem is eleum loyce
