The first gen GLA45 was one of my dream cars and I wish they continued the hatchback style. I am a proud owner of a 2018 designo mountain grey magno and its surreal every time I open my garage.
I purchased a brand new 2023 GLA45 AMG in June 2023 because of this video... it is my first "true" AMG vehicle and the MOST fun vehicle I've EVER owned... and its also practical!
@@mikehawk120 we are truly lucky 👍🏾... I don't think you will ever find a compact SUV/hatchback with this much power EVER again in the U.S.!!! The 2023 GLA 45 AMG might be the last!!! Even BMW has no plans to create a "true" X1 M or X2 M vehicle with this much power in the U.S.
@@wrwatson80 I agree. I was looking at sone BMW stuff the other day, they def aren’t shooting for sport in the smaller stuff. I bought with most options. Only regret is not getting cooled seats and the upgraded lights. I have the 21 inch rim setup and I’m not seeing much over 10k miles with the sport compact 6 tires, crazy.
I like that you recommend which car is better at similar performance and which car has better pricing. Gives buyer an informed decision of which car is a better buy.
@@reubendeleon-ji6upmine has been flawless I’ve had it since 2020. Just put some shorter Michelin MP4S tires on it and it’s even more fun and a little quicker
I can’t wrap my head around the US obsession with everything having to be an SUV? Do they really need the extra few inches if suspension travel and ground clearance? SUV’s mostly spend their lives in parking lots 🙄 sorry. Anyways, great review! Love all the in-depth and asmr drives
Incredible vehicle but I definitely liked the first-gen better because it looked more like a hatch - and $68k, eh, I know the market is wildly crazy but agreed with you, the profile and cost-cutting, I’d definitely go with the Golf R, or some other more affordable alternative. Great review as always!
i was about to say the same thing. i own a 2017 for 3 years now and i love it. 1st Gen is getting cheaper these day, it won 3 time Best engine of the year and it is pretty reliable. its a real pocket rocket !!!
I like the first gen looks better. I think they need the rear spoiler or it looks pretty much like the soccer mom version. I had a 2016 GLA45 with red cut leather seats and most the sport track options. Was amazing on the track.
Good and thorough review, glad you tried to give comparisons. I test drove it and I loved it but the price was the hardest part to get over. Maybe 15k less and it might be well worth it.
Jus traded a Kona N in for a 22--this car is excellent--I kept my N in eco mode around town and plan on keeping this in comfort around town because it takes the jitteriness of the dct away.Luckily I am use to a dct and if you simply wait a sec for the car in fron to move away they are smoothe--they just dont like cruising at 5 to 10 mph--basically stop and go.But yeah even in comfort if you give it maybe 30% or more pedal down it shifts and MOVES--really moves(this is my first German car and first AMG and I have owned stingers --american V8s--Kona N and this is fantastic--I give kudos to hyundai because this dct feels very similiar except it has a lot more power and awd.
Having driven both, there is a big diference in straight line performance and it definitely sounds better. To me that is worth more than 1/10 😆...and with discounts I found a new 23 for under 60K. In addtion, the interior is much nicer with better tech integration by far.
The advantage of this over a a45s is the ground clearance for odd ball carparks with sudden slopes. Well u can always drive your other cars for these and get a a45s but cost efficiency wise it is better to only hv one car that does it all
I just got one--its off by maybe a half a second on leguna seca--I live in the US so mine has 380 HP--but at 380 Hp and awd its outrunning a lot of cars--and I owned a TT 3.3 AWD stinger that I took to public drag and destroyed people and this is faster
Was this from a dealer or from MB? It is the first 2022 CLA/GLA 45 reviewed in the US since MB hasn't released them for sale yet (many of us waiting). Where'd the car come from??
@@mikehawk120 love it. No issues whatsoever. The only thing though are the stock tires it came with, the treadwear is horrible. Very nice car. And a😍😍 beautiful video. Your run is great. I really like the sound of your vehicle. I like that rhythm. Your track is also very beautiful bro. I congratulate you.
It’s a cool car but I personally don’t see the point of a 380hp SUV. I think 200-250hp is the sweet spot for SUVs. In my opinion, an SUV is meant to be comfortable to cruise around. If I want to drive like a maniac on mountain roads or canyons, I’d go for the A45. But that’s just my opinion ;)
Are you in the US? My 2022 gla45 is stuck at the vpc since November and I heard from my dealership that they haven’t released any 2022 gla45s in the US. Which dealership did you get the car from if in the US? Thx (great review)

The AMG A45S looked amazing. I wish it were a thing
