I bought one of these for my wife and she couldn't be happier. The garage sleeps much better at night.
I basically just hit replay to watch the launches and shifting. That engine sounds amazing.
The column shifter is fine for me. Like anything, you get accustomed to it. I love the fact that it’s not in the way and free’s up space for other switches and cup holders on the center console.
Then you have that palm rest taking up the space, which I haven't even touched more than handful of times...
do all of the gla amg years have that?
I learned the hard away that the car automatically goes into park if you open a door up lol.
@@jkleins2869Not model years 2015 - 2019. Those had a pretty nifty center shifter with a clever design and functionality.
Honestly, my favorite AMG on the market right now has to be the Mercedes CLA 45 AMG. While it may not have the V8 like it big models, it certainly is a much better handling and sportier car. I just wish that Mercedes focused on their inline 6 and put it in CLA. It's such a great engine and its a shame that they just got rid of it for a four cylinder.
You may or may not already know this, but there's a flagship "S" version that the US doesn't get. I live in Australia, and we get all of the "S" versions of AMG's 4-cylinder models (A45 S, CLA45 S, and the GLA45 S.) Apologies if you already knew that lol.
The 1st gen of the GLA45 is my favourite 🥰 look like more a hot hatch than a suv !! A real rocket pocket and one of the best sounding inline4 !!
This is a SUV. It's predecessor was a hot hatch. And better looking. 👍

Gla all the way, just bought the 45amg and can’t complain one bit, still breaking in but definitely has some torque at the low end without even trying to step on it

@@samuelreid603 so the AMG GLA comes in two trims the 35 (305? Hp I believe, engine isn’t hand built) and the 45 which is 382 hp and hand built engine.
The sedan has the same trims except it’s a Cla
My opinion after 1 yr ownership , I love it. Definitely a sleeper since it’s a crossover, mini suv hatch I dont know exactly what to call it 😂 but wife and I love the car. If I could go back, I’d wait and find one with a pano roof and upgrade the brakes. Stock brakes are great but the 6 piston upgrade looks niceeee
@@ffrnando4388 i was looking at one last week.. it was like 55k i was like hmmm it definitely had brakes but not all the other stuff and i was like 😑🤔.. but the one i would get would be closer to 71k which is kinda high for me..but i got the new 2022 m240i in purple
@@samuelreid603 yea if I optioned out my car with all the things I want I’ll be hitting close to 75k as well so I had to skip out on a few things that honestly I realized I didn’t really need, just for bragging rights really 😅 either way I upgraded from a Honda to this so even a base model AMG was more than enough

The Hyundai Kona N is a very fierce competitor to this for cheaper. But this looks good. The gla seems like a heavy boat compared to the KN.
Except 100 more horsepower, much nicer interior, much better stereo option, more available features, sounds better (my opinion), AWD vs FWD, but yeah more expensive.
Oddly Here in India, every AMG model is only the 63s or 45s except for GLA which only shows up in 35.
Also motor vehicle regulations mandate spare wheel, otherwise you can't sell a car so every car no matter the price point, includes a spare wheel in India.
mercedes will usually modify the boot here and have a wheel well added.
it helps that most mercedes sold in India are locally assembled, including AMG models now.
I’ve been trying to get a glc 43 amg coupe for the last 2 months. My local dealership has none and the out state dealers won’t sell it to me because I don’t live in their state or they want 15k over msrp so no, some benz stores won’t sell you anything

I wouldn't drive anything other than a Mercedes. Not perfect, but I drove my parents' Lincoln and it seemed very cheap to me. Mercs are extremely well made and worth it, atleast mine is.

After 35k km the interior starts to rattle. I'm really saddened by the quality. But the driving experience is amazing

@@fijismith3647 if you can get one fully specced out and you don't mind a 4cl, yeah. I mean, as I said, I wish the interior build quality was better. But overall it's a really good car.

We here in north America always get the bs versions this is like a whole different car to the 45s so sad I love them tho
Mercedes at this point has the best looking cars suv,s etc.I just wish that all these euro big brand cars were reliable and affordable but they are not

Damn that car is nice. But, what about reliability? I know right now MB is more reliable than both BMW and VW/Audi, but what about in general? Compare to a Lexus? It seems like MB and BMW are just throwing stuff out there to see what sticks. They keep making the MB logo bigger and bigger. Is that to try and attract millennials? Geez. Those are some big a** brakes. haha. I like the illuminated door sills. It has a lot of thoughtful design elements. My only concern is reliability and repairs and prices to repair. Durability. ?? I don't really like it's body looks. Holy smokes that thing is fast!! The shifts are great.

Ummm....traded my Golf R for an AMG GLA45. It is only 6 inches longer...174" vs 168" and it is a beast and a great upgrade. And I am a VW fanboy

It's probably what the customers wanted (i.e., more interior room and practicality). AMG still has to start with the base GLA250, which sits as the entry level compact SUV in the Mercedes lineup. But I agree -- the previous gen hatch looked so much meaner and sleeker. Now it's just another blob.
