      Thanks so much for those kind words Brittany! The tool I'm using is called a proplugger. I purchased it on Amazon. They also have ones that push the dirt out naturally as you dig the next hole. This one you need to flip over.

    True story! My in-laws planted daffodils in 1978 on their new property and put them in the wrong spot (the layout of the house changed) but they’re still going strong, every spring! They could definitely benefit from dividing, but they’ve lived with absolutely no care whatsoever. They’re out of the way and hard to notice so I might dig them up and add them to my developing meadow, which is more of a focal area. Oh and species tulips are absolutely amazing. Especially the “candlestick” types. I’ve added more this fall.

    I’m adding 200 ipheon to my front yard this year after having planted 100 each year for the past 2 years. Now you’ve got me thinking about what else I can throw out there! I love the idea of a naturalized lawn. The whole mowing thing is the problem…..

    Hi Danielle, this is the first video I’ve seen about naturalizing daffodils. I’ve always planted them incorrectly ; daffodils standing in a row which does not look nice! Thanks ! You speak and present so well! I really enjoy listening to you.🍁❤️🇨🇦

    I have one more bag of daffodils left to plant and have been struggling to find a place. There is an edge to my property that is shade in summer but since the trees are deciduous I think a naturalized area might work. My neighbor just had a fieldstone wall put in near the woods that would be perfect for them. I think I will do some in both areas and share the spring happiness. Thanks for the inspiration.

      Omy don't you hate that!! I'll be staring for a long time finding a spot to plant lol! The best thing to do when that happens is to just drop the plant and walk away🤣 and come back later.

    I can't wait to see what happens next spring! I now around my daffodils until the first week in June, but then I must cut them. What I've noticed over the last 25 years or so of planting 100 bulbs pretty much every year is that after awhile the older bulbs do tend to lose a lot of their pigment, but they still come back 🤞 White Flower Farm offers a good mix for naturalizing called The Works 💚

    I got a ready made mix of early mid late bloomers. Planted 110 last year and another 125 this year for our woodsy area. I think the squirrels and moles get some of them but it’s the only thing the deer and rabbits won’t eat.

    • @NorthlawnFlowerFarm
      @NorthlawnFlowerFarm  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Emmy! It's a proplugger. I purchased it on Amazon. I like it - but you do have to turn it over about every four holes to dump the dirt. And it's got some weight to it. I like it for a hundred or two hundred bulbs...but I think my back would hurt if I did more than that. The ones that push the dirt out after each hole may be better.

    i have a bunch of daffodils to plant this fall. i appreciate you addressing how long to leave the foliage up to feed the bulb, which means i need to be really careful about where i plant them -- maybe between my daylilies, and in my annual bed around the mailbox, and maybe under my giant oak that won't really be leafing out much yet.

    Every year I add a few more!
    I also pay attention to their height. This way I don't have the short little cuties hiding behind the tall ones.
    I have a grass pathway thru my yard so I can walk amongst the Daffodils in the Spring!
    It's glorious!!
    I'm curious to find out if my Daffs survived after the big Arctic storm we had here in Texas last February.
    I only question it bcuz they had already put their leaves up when the storm came, but then afterward, they dies back instantly, and never flowered.
    My garlic died too.
    And all the Daffs in pots did die. So I'm guessing the Daffs in the ground died too.
    Either way, I'm still planting more!! 🏵🏵🏵🏵🏵🏵🏵🏵

    Thanks for sharing, I'm thinking to do the same on the strip area along the side walk in front of my house, that area have tons of cosmos pop up late in the spring and will flower late summer to early fall, it will be wonderful if I can have daffodils blooming in early spring at the same area, so we will have flower for three seasons.

    I was just about to go plant Daffodils in my lawn. My soil is heavy clay, so I dug a little deeper and put compost in it. Given the number of bulbs and thus the amount of amendments, I hope the bulbs won't drown. I have planted several varieties of bulbs (including snowdrops) in a heart design. That will make it easier to mow around, and my neighbors are excited to see the heart in the spring. It's taken me three weeks and they're still not all planted. Will the snowdrops die having waited that long?

    • @NorthlawnFlowerFarm
      @NorthlawnFlowerFarm  2 роки тому +2

      Hi there! As long as your snowdrop bulbs are still firm (and most likely they still will be) they will be perfectly fine! It often take me at least a month to get everything in.

    My Alliums have started coming up I'm in Zone 4B, Will they flower still? should I wait and let them freeze back and hope for the best... Or should I remove them and bring them inside to flower indoors?
