It's the first reunion of the Satsop River Rock Festival in 39 years, and Wishbone Ash makes a return to it during the band's 40th anniversary tour. The original Satsop River Rock Festival was a four-day music festival that was held on a Satsop farm over Labor Day Weekend in 1971. The festival featured several major artists of the time, including: Steve Miller, Wishbone Ash, Flash Cadillac, the Youngbloods, Delaney and Bonnie, Erick Burdon, Billy Preston and War. It's guessed that between 100,000 to 150,000 people attended the original festival.
In this video, Wishbone Ash performs 'Throw Down the Sword' from the hit 1972 album, 'Argus'.

Fantastic! A tribute to my mother (passed six yrs ago today) who was my designated driver to hear them in Chicago 1973. I am glad I have gone back to listening to them again.
Lately I've been listening to a lot of Ash. Such great songs and talent.. A lot of times i try to figure out how to play a song on guitar but i leave these songs alone because i want to enjoy the art of them and how they are played......Keep playing guys you are much appreciated.
Extraordinarily beautiful song, it is a piece for the collection ...!
I was in the opening band at this show, after first seeing Wishbone Ash at the original 1971 Satsop River Fair & Tin Cup Races... my first of many WA shows. Getting to open for them and meet Andy backstage was a huge thrill!
Incredible English group, with an unparalleled sound and these guitars ... wow ... awesome! I first heard the album Argus in the early 70's and it was love to the first guitar chord! Too much ... And the vocalization ... The amazing thing is they do not use any special effects or synthesizer. It's basic guitar, solo, drums and bass, which makes them unique. Great Wishbone Ash, more current than ever! God save WA, the best ever !
Rock and Roll Never Die, ouço isso a muito e não canso de ouvir nunca, tem que respeitar!
Absolutely brilliant! Sends shivers down my spine.
Priceless Footage
Anyway what a real band is ash Keep Rocking !!!
Real guitars have wings.
just to set the record straight the original version did not have duelling guitars for the solo at the end actually Andy played two different solos and then they put the two solos together so it sounded like duelling guitars so now you know !
I always thought Andy and Ted both played on that outro solo. interesting! thanks for this.
Andy can get his sound from fenders and marshalls... amazing stuff.
Yeah baby!!!!
Música Perfeita
AXE INTO ACTION
A bit distorted, but what a great guitar solo. Ash is known for the Dueling guitars though-its their trademark-see 2003 Throw down the sword!
What a tune!!! Prefer the original solo though!
I can see where Michael Schenker got inspiration from these guys,.
Lots of clams . . . they sound like they're phoning it in.
I don´t wanna say nothing but the intro is very similar to No More Lies of Maiden jajajaj maybe Steve took the idea because he is a real fan of Ash
I thought that both guitarists used Flying V's...
Ben Boyer Andy used a Flying V most of the time, both Ted and Laurie used Strats at the their start. Ted is Strat/PRs Guy. Laurie strat, and like a LP junior or tv special.
The album has one of the best lead guitar-duets ever recorded and this is not it. Either don't play it or get it right!! There will have been people there who would have known every note - must have been disappointed. If this were a Beethoven quintet it would be note perfect - no reason why this cannot be too.
No, a band playing live is quite entitled to play their music any way they like, and don't have to slavishly play their own records.
But.... I agree with the tenor of what you're saying. Wishbone were such a precision band in their early days - and I revered the playing of Andy Powell and Ted Turner. Here, though, Andy seems too laid back and sloppy for words - and the others just seem to be going through the motions. Back in the seventies, the original two Wishbone bands played with real sincerity and intensity - which seems to be sadly lacking here...!!!
Have to agree with Angela R. original guitar was actually a "duel" between the two guitars and that is completely lost in this version...........hate to say this, as this band has been with me all my adult life..............but our man with the flying V was looking a little too smug for me....!
Harley Bretta bet you wish you could play guitar like that.
I agree the band was known for harmonized guitar solos and really pioneered the trend so no disrespect for this solo but harmonizing is tricky.
1.27 to 1.29 that dude is making a ridiculous "serious concentration" face.
2 min later they skipped the interlude, the Formics >X
the original solo is way better
音程がハズレている?
powell sings monotone. It's awful.
Martin Turner's band is MUCH better. That's a fact.
bass player is a joke.
