The micromesh-yorkshire grit swap was the betrayal of a lifetime
Haha.
Don't worry, we Yorkshire folk have a lot of grit and can take such betrayal. But we do not forgive and we do not forget!
@@asvarien You took the words right out of my mouth. Us Yorkshire folk has true grit.
If you really don't enjoy making pens, give out the pen kits at your December woodworking group. You can't make them if you don't have the kits. 🤷♀️ It will feel like a relief to pass them along. 😊
That's actually a really good idea!
For that matter, he has ready made (so to speak) Christmas Gifts for his Friends and Family...
Give them Pen Kits to encourage them to get crafting...
And get rid of them himself...
😄😁😆😅😂🤣
I am now wondering what that gold would look like in a black resin. Murder bowl style.
YES. Why didn't I think of that?
The murder bowl was one of my favorites why did it have to be so deadly 😭🤣
@@peterbrownwastakenyou didn’t think of it because Pen Dread has enveloped you.
My roomie: “the resin shavings look like silly string”
Peter: “I wanna stick my hand into the shavings, but you never know what else can get caught in there”
Me: “ah yes. It’s Serious String.”
What else could get caught tho, I am very r/whoosh rn 😅
Seriously (ha) underrated comment.
If you choose your colors carefully, you could dye the eggshell two different colors. E.g., hardboil the egg, then dye it yellow, then take the shell off the egg. Now dye it red, and you'd get shells that are red on one side, and orange on the other!
Probably safer to do the reverse. Red is dangerous, as we saw. Yellow is often a weak color and it'll me easily overtaken.
Red on outside, then add yellow after.
micromesh... scratches at level six with deeper grooves at level seven. Oh, wait, wrong channel. 😉😇
Lol
Fuckin love micromesh
This crossover. I had to read it a few times to make sure I read it right lol.
@@fredguy1111 what channel is it referencing?! Feel like I’m missing an inside joke lol
Google tells me it’s “Something Zac from JerryRigEverything says in nearly every UA-cam Video. He is known for literally destroying phones for a living with various durability tests. Refers to the Moh's Scale of Hardness, and how strong certain cell phone glass is.”
Just want you to know that, years ago, you helped me discover two things. First one is micromesh, that I love. Second one is the bold mindset that you have in front of unknown territories. It made me realise that "hey, why not?" was a valid way of thinking. So for that, and for the fact that this year I used micromesh to polish my future wife's wedding ring, thanks a lot Mr. Brown.
Remember, those skills of patience and attention to detail can apply to more than your craft... so best of luck to ya!
Gonna need a Depeche Mode themed project backed with your dulcet versions now.
I also had Master and Servant, stuck in my head but ruled it out for the video. :)
Policy Of Truth is my buzzed enough to sing karaoke go-to.
@@peterbrownwastaken Whaaaat?? That totally family-friendly and UA-cam-friendly classic?!
Don't know how, but adding a LED on battery inside that egg would look insane
You beat me to it
The dye you used for the egg would look great for a Galaxy sphere in a wizard staff.
I would love to see something made with with metal shavings (like what was used in the murder bowl) and the gold leaf. The tight silver spirals would contrast the organic nature of the gold leaf quite well I think.
It's okay, Peter, a lot of us have the "too much gene". I love the abstract, modern art-esque shapes the egg shells made. It looks just like a painting. I also can't wait to see what other things you make with those duo/multi chrome pigments. I'm a makeup junkie and the one you used with the egg shells would make such a pretty eyeshadow haha
That bottle stopper came out really cool under the light! I'm a sucker for transparent purple stuff, aaaaa. Let's Resin deep pour is what I've been using lately, it's really great for beginners. I don't have a pressure pot but I haven't had any bubble issues with it. My only problem so far is some dingus in my house knocked over my mold on day 2 and put it back upside-down so all the resin leaked out overnight, still not sure which dingus it was...
Leftovers projects for after Thanksgiving, love the theme
I just keep coming back for the micro mesh spiel. Never stop saying it, Peter.
I hope he just has a magic button he can press to save him the effort of saying it everytime.
Love this format Peter. Just you throw all the projects at us you want to, we can soak it all up! 💯❤
Peter Brown uplifts my spirit. Thanks Peter
For the dyeing of eggshells, I imagine you could approach it similarly to re-dyeing cotton; Sometimes, if you've dyed cotton one colour, say blue in this case, but you decide you want it to be purple, you would actually add some of the original dye in batch you do, so that the balance works better. This is to account for all the dye you washed out the first time, I think? It is honestly an approach handed down to me so I can't say if it's the best or anything, but this made me think of that.
That colour changing dye! when you held that up to the light it looked like a nebula! so many possiblilities! that would make an amazing night light or something similar
Very glad you didn't make another pen. I love the gold-flecked honey dipper, it's gorgeous! And I really like the 2-projects-in-1-video. :) Well done!!
I can't agree me, this is just the video I needed after a long day at work😂
The eggshell almost look like some kind of mineral or crystal, like Desert rose. I bet you could use dyes that doesn't affect resin to change the white edges at the end, you could use several colors on different areas of the same object. Also tying the shells together and spraying them from different angles would look cool. Splashing some glue or lacquer on the shells before dying them would probably let you keep them white, produce spots/patterns with the color underneath!
Even better than the last eggshell project! Awesome!
I can go back and request a honey dipper if it makes you feel better? I'm just happy for the upload!
I feel like the gold really works for a honey dipper in particular! Both very interesting projects! :)
I’m a little dismayed by the mental image of a hiney dipper.
@@susskinsgamer Hiney dipper is more the egg that he made, though... XD
Oh god, I don't think that's a word I've EVER typed on a keyboard before, but naturally it didn't get picked up by autocorrect 🤣 I have to make the edit, for my own sanity, but thanks for highlighting it 😅
ive been watching you since 2017, one thing I know for sure is that for polishing you use micro mesh and that it has its own grit system that starts at 1500 and goes to 12000
One of the few UA-camrs who'se ads I mute rather than skip!! Nice projects!!
"Oh it's definitely red" 😂
Gorgeous projects as always!
I first started watching resin turning because those ropes and ribbons are so viscerally satisfying to me. Loved seeing them here.
I really liked the format of this video with the two projects interspersed. Great job.
Beautifully done
Looks so cool!
I've heard that vinegar dissolves eggshells and I think I've seen it used in coloring eggshells before. So maybe you could try adding a splash of vinegar in the dye blend next time and see if that helps to penetrate the shells a bit more? Don't leave it in there for too long though or the shells might turn into goop :)
So when i dye my eggs for easter, i always use vinegar.
It does not penetrate the shell- and if using too much, itll end up kinda... melting the shell? Just slightly.
For instance, if you dye the egg, and wait too long, then go to take it out, the dyed part will rub off on your hands and be an off-white (there will be a hint of whatever color was used )
However, i feel that if used correctly, it makes the colors more vibrant.
Very cool. Always look forward to your projects.
so pretty with both the fux gold flakes and the eggshell egg. love the color
Very cool! I always am happy when you upload. Thanks for the video!
I come for Shop Time, but I stay for Peter Sings Time
Both turned out Awesome. 🦾🦾
The egg is beautiful. The egg shell gives me a 70s feel.
Peter Brown and Depeche Mode. Perfect video.
I appreciate his work so much and that he keeps the language clean even when he gets frustrated. This channel always feels cheerful!
I like how you explain things
I kinda love the egg bottle stopper, even with the mostly opaque result
Nice! Making Monday evenings more fun!
The fact that you have a hexagon/honeycomb silicone mat on your desk is perfect!
That eggshell project has such a cool design! 🥚 Great idea to make a honey dipper handle from the other piece!! 🍯 Liquid gold! 🌟
The egg looks really cool! keep up the good work dude!
I’d watch an entire episode of Peter stirring things while singing Depeche Mode ❤
Both of these projects turned out beautifully, pun unintended. I really like the faux gold leaf.
I love your videos. I got so excited when I saw you made another video. 😊
I do enjoy being serenaded during breakfast. That was a pretty good rendition too!
If it's worth doing, it's worth overdoing. Two super fun projects! Thanks for sharing!
An egg so good Ben's Worx would certainly approve. And that gold flake handle is gorgeous
I cant wait to see what you do with that pigment though. I believe in you, you are persistant and clever and we are patient and proud!
ayyy lucky refresh, love shop time!!!
man that eggshell pattern is awesome. almost gives a modern art deco vibe.
Hi!!, Im from argentina, love your work!!, I loved to see a "mate" from resing and yerba mate ❤. ❤
I love when you unexpectedly sing in your videos ! :)
I love the eggshell egg! It looks like the top of a wizard's staff!
As a trainee pen maker, it fills me with joy seeing you make a pen (even though you hate doing it).
Very much enjoyed watching these two projects. I noticed you’re not using a pressure pot to get the bubbles out of your projects while they cure. Which is what I’m researching how to make my own currently. Thank you for including the products you use in your projects. Very helpful. The egg shell was definitely a fascinating look in the end.
honey dipper kit sparks joy
Peter, both projects turned out beautiful. Honey is know as liquid gold, so the gold handle is very appropriate. Thanks for another great video.
Cool. Thank you
Fantastic makes as always Peter. I might have to try that egg shell thing myself.😀 always a pleasure to watch your video's. That new chuck looks so awesome 👍
Looking at that resin egg, I was reminded of another ovoid shape: The handles of arcade joysticks!
Have arcade or fighting game sticks come up as a project idea? A fight stick or hitbox can combine BOTH resin and woodworking!
The stick handles come in a variety of shapes (ball, oval, bat, etc.), and the top panels are flat, modestly sized pieces. I think that would open up many options.
Plus the arcade stick tops are attached with a simple threaded insert. So they'd have a firm attachment. Be cool to see what random stuff he could make.
I know nothing about ANYTHING that you do...but I've been a subscriber for years and love what you do, so thanks!
Perfectly in time for Easter.
Haha. :)
Depeche Mode and what looked like a duo-chrome dye in resin. Amazing.
I love when you sing.
Both are very cool
The egg is neat, especially with light on it
I live the bottle stopper
Yet another killer project..... I love them both ..... Happy late Thanksgiving ... Hope that it was good for you and yours....
I like your voice almost as much as your resin shenanigans... which i love by the way!!!
They both came out stunning 😍
Oh that pigment would have looked cool as a layer on the egg with a topcoat to seal it 😊
Super cool, Peter. 🔥🔥🔥
The egg shell bottle stopper would make a good Christmas ornament :)
Peter: "...even their cocoa is perfect"
Never have I ever had a more depressing statement resonate with me so hard! It also made me laugh! That 'wet blanket' feeling makes me so irritable and angry sometimes, it has taken me years to learn how to ignore it. Sorry, didn't mean to dump on you man. Good job, both look great!
Wowwww that honey dipper handle ♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
i love a peter serenade
red and blue makes pomegranate. hose turned out beautiful.
well looks great to me hope ALL had a good turky day and we will tune in to nest vid
13 minutes ago!!
Reeeeeally love that faux gold leaf. Definitely want to see more of the color changing pigment too!
Thank you for making the content that you do.
Always love seeing a new video.
I agree on both results!
The egg would look even cooler with an LED light up base and maybe a teeny bit less pigment.. lol
I really like the idea of making broken eggshells back into an "egg" maybe even filling it up to the top with a gradient of egg shell colors?
That's turned out stunning 😍 I'm curious, what would happen if you did a "lava bowl" but with dyed eggshells too?
super cool Peter, Noicely done Sir
LOVE policy of truth!
Hey, Peter! You should do a contest to win that egg you made. My mother used to get an Easter egg like that from her grandmother for Easter every year, and I've continued that tradition these last few years. I'd love to win that egg a give it to her (not to mention the honor of having one of your projects).
That gold flake is on fire!
on the mount for the egg shell could put a little LED thingy at the tip to shine up from the inside, might have to drill through the shell layer to just the dyed epoxy
Its all good!
Ah... 2 of my favorite things a new peter brown video and depeche mode haha😂
Very cool!
peter i love your videos and your singing voice is awesome.
MAN, your body looks great, well done with that great transition, also great video as always, I'm a big fan and been watching your videos for more than 8 years and you kept amaze me every time, LOVE from Saudi Arabia
Love the Goldschlager honey dipper. 😆
13:19 the Princess Bride reference had me CACKLING. Love the video!!
Just FYI, if you sand to 800 grit (assuming P800, not the American standard 800), you can skip the 1500 micro mesh and go right to the 1800 grit. On the micro mesh scale, 1500 is the same grit as American standard 360 grit (29 microns) or just a bit finer than P400 grit (35 microns). The micro mesh 1800 grit is the same as the American 700 grit (14 microns) and just between the P1200 (18 microns) and P1500 (12.6 microns)
I love the egg-thing
