Fantastic video I never thought about adding the location service pages to my GMB as services.
in products yes !
Ive done this with home pages. I have 8 home pages for the different cities in my area. Would you say i should also do service pages as well?
answered 9-19-2024 video
When you say citations, can we make new yelp pages, for each city or can that lead to NAP errors or duplicate errors? Sorry I’m still new to this.
You can build as many as you want as long as there not 100% duplicate pointing to the same page?
@@chris-palmerbut what about having the NAP? Would it be located a different NAP at the footer of each service page?
I mean:
- Home page that is about “abatement services”
Individual pages:
- /abatement-services/texas
-/abatement-services/Dallas
So, for echa service page, we have to add on the footer the address?
@@chris-palmer Does this mean creating multiple accounts (w/ different emails) for each directory?
yes@@dturner73
Great video Chris! I love how you implemented this structure. Quick question though - how many citations do you recommend for each location? I'm working with a client who wants to be thorough but has a tight budget. Trying to find the right balance. Thanks!
build you main citations , then focus on directories for inner locations. Amounts are = to as many as you can afford.
awesome chris thanks alot ... so quick question if I'm building a site home page location pages etc , i have a live gbp for a specific location , which is number one but trying to go broad .. such as the home page just have state or general kws on it should i link the home page or that specific location page to the GBP with that specific address , if its already ranking well .. if i should just still link the location page what and how should i link the home page , should this page have a gbp ?
if the GBP is ranking well and bringing in clients / customers dont rock the boat.
Thanks for this video, Chris! This makes a lot of sense! I have a question about the citations though. Let's say I only have the one GBP for the city I'm located in but I create 10 more location pages. When doing citations for these pages, I would obviously change up the description, the photos, the URL (pointed to the location page). My phone number could be the same, but what about my address? Does it cause an issue to have a directory listing on Yelp that is for a location page in Ballwin, MO but with an address in Brentwood, MO?
Also, curious about this
Depending on the source you can add city / zip with description and phone / title , like your a service area business . So not a issue .
See comment ✊
Who ya using to build? I am teaching myself. I swore I would build my business organically and I have but I need to grow. My websites are bad. So I live in Phoenix. We have so many cities across ghe valley and we serve them all.
So I get lost here. I do a web page on each city say Scottsdale we serve them say some stuff about the city and what we do. But you connect it to what?
Would you recommend using the business name in the citations or should we use the keyword as the business name?
Biz name
I have my main services in my header for my local service business should I have location sub pages for every service ?
would be a amazing idea depending on the theme design
Hey Chris! Great video! Hey I had a quick question if you have a moment to address it!
So you said you wanted "service + location" pages.
Does that mean that you want "plumbing services [location]" pages?
Or do you want "[individual service] [location]" pages?
So for example, with "plumbing services [location]" page, the page itself would cover all of the services you offer as well as the location, so on the page it would mention Miami, but on the same page it would also mention "water heaters, leak detection, toilet replacement, etc'"
Then, for the individual services, they would just have a single, general informational page where people can learn about each service, something that could be linked to in the top nav and accessed by every landing page.
OR
Are you saying you would have "water heater miami" "leak detection miami" "toilet replacement miami, etc. as well as "water heater orlando" "leak detection orlando" "toilet replacement orlando". If it's the second one, for sure it will be a lot more pages which isn't the end of the world, but then would you just forgo having generic informational pages about each service in the top nav? or how would you address having those generic informational explainer pages that are not necessarily for lead generation, but rather for showing Google you're the authority on the topic / preventing people from leaving your site to go find information if they really want to read about it?
Thanks so much for your help!
You can go either way , I have been able to find success creating location specific supporting content along with creating basic top level info content. But to make things simple do this website . com/mainservice/location create supporting to the mainservice/supporting page like this
Excellent!
Thank you Phil
TONS of value here bro! Quick question, what’s your preferred kw research tool? Semrush? Ahrefs? Etc..
SEMRUSH
This is great! What services do you use for press releases?
We have our own service we provide white label.
So the citations are the exact same address but just for the different URL? Is there a way to automatically send these days like semrush does the original citations?
most are manual
Are you suggesting I duplicate my web page with the location as the new link?
No
What if we all this + CTR Manip. ?
Exactly
Hi Chris, in the citations for the service area urls, what address should be entered? because there is no business place there. Thanks
Citations are still just links , so use address of where verified is unless you have pins
Chris, do you have a service to create and write location pages to rank for agency partners?
100% sure do.
Hey Chris, if I'm optimizing for a local service business that does exterior contracting in an area where there's a bunch of smaller towns they operate in rather than 1 big city - what's the best method to handle the home page and met optimization? Their town only has 24k people and surrounding towns are generally around 10k. There's a city within their service area though that has 70k. Should I optimize for their town of 24k or should i try keeping it more general for their area, then get specific on location pages?
Also, since they do exteriors (roofing, siding, decks, etc), I need to keep that general on the home page too? And then get specific on Service and Location pages? Thank you for taking the time!
Optimize for the locations that you provide services that have volume.
so do you have all the service cities in the menu also of just as a backpage that is not link to on your site
yes in menus or foots or sidebars
Great Video Chris! GBP Tuning is great advice! Does it matter if these location pages have duplicate content on?
I would like to expand on this question… As we know from google, google ranks pages with distinct data, so how can we modify the content of the same service pages for different locations so they are not seen as duplicates by google?
100% dupe is a issue but modified url title and headers along with text is fine
Thanks for this nice quick checklist. Very simple and easy to follow.
If you’re in an isolated city, but want to rank in all of the neighborhoods, would you recommend this same strategy but for neighborhoods instead of cities? I’m in Bakersfield CA if you want to look at how big of a city it is with several different neighborhoods
Thanks in advance
I would target bold areas on google maps
Let's say theoretically I have over 100 locations pages, would I then, be expected to have 100 duplicate products on my GMB linking to each respective location page?
Holy cow I think you just broke down the wall!!! 😂❤Thanks so much.
my pleasure t help and share , glad to break em' down
just a queston if i'm operating a clinic and i want me to visit me, basically i don't travel to provide services, how would this work?
Thanks for this!
Glad to share brother !
Thanks for sharing the video, Chris. I have a question: Should we set the location pages on the website as canonical to avoid content duplication and potential Google penalties? What's your advice on this?
yes you do as best practce.
@@chris-palmer wouldn't adding canonicals to another page reduce the hyper-local visibility in serps of these location pages? Google will just rank that other page (the one you set the canonicals to) and not the location pages, no?
quick question, do i need to verify with a video on all of these areas? If i want to do this service for my client, do i need to tell him to go to these places to verify all of the google pages listed in different areas?
Web pages are much different then gbp listings , you can have a webpage if you don’t have a brick and mortar there
@@chris-palmer Soo, do i create more listing on GMB or just do Webpages? What do you suggest?
If someone is a Chiropractor, you'd still create service pages for other cities even though you only provide service in your currently city/office? I can see if you're a plumber and service multiple cities, but does this work for businesses that don't travel?
If the customer can reach you in a 5-10 mile radius.......yes !~
Hey man, great video. Question:
I work with a client in a small country where we already rank for "plumber" short tail. However, we also have plumbing services offered at various locations.
Do I still create pages for "plumber [city]"? Is there no risk of cannibalizing the main plumber term?
yes I would , location pages should not fight for googles attention they are targeting different locations
@@chris-palmer thanks for that
Glad to help and share. Thank you for taking the time to watch todays SEO video. If you have future SEO questions feel free to ask. @chrispalmerseo
Can someone post a website link so I can see the location and the products and service ranking in their local areas? Do I understand that multiple website pages titled for those targeted local areas with the products/services and keywords and also in the navigation within the website. so we need to build individual webpage for each local area with the listed products and services for those areas we wish to dominate? Do I understand you correctly Chris?
i need to make a video on this one. i have gotten a ton of questions.
Will that location specific page (like Plumbing Serivces Denver) have a unique and meaningful content? Because for me this tatic sounds like Keyword Stuffing.
There are multiple ways to win.
Do you have a video showing making the pages following these steps
i do
So a plumber website will have hundreds of extra pages per a location they service? Wouldn't that get confusing for the user who is trying to navigate their website? How do you do this in an organized way.
No for the 1-2 people who actually browse a plumber website perhaps. For the 98% majority of users they do a search on Google find there answer and leave your site after making a call for there issue.
I love the energy bro you get me excited to do this boring office work😂

Hey chris: Quick question?I am full stack marketer been following you and you are my go to seo guy in youtube.I would like to know how effective would be a location pages where there is very low search for that specific location.
it could produce 1-15 visitors a month , because a page ranks for more than one keyword
solid. thanks brotha 😊
Always my pleasure to assist with anything local SEO related thanks for watching and commenting !
You mention citations at new locations. I thought citations were nap. Is it possible to get citations for different locations without a different address?
100% yes.
Hi Chris, can I use my home address which is a flat to use as a business address in the google my business? Thanks
You can of course why not if that’s your business address .
Wow. I actually understood that.
great to hear.
Would this work for a beauty salon Chris? Have service pages for location I want to be on the first page of Google, even though I don't go to the customers, they come to me
I've worked with salons and nail artists in the past and the strategy works excellent ! People will travel for quality and relationship .
( I am subscriber) Great strategy , i did not know about it I will try it.
I have a business (clinical laboratory), but i also so offer "food handling training" service that can be done outside my physical business.
questions:
1. Should i apply your strategy to the "Clinical-laboratory-location" or should be better to do it for the "food-handling-training-location" ?
2.Should i link back to the GBP listing from the website location page(Web page-->GBP) or it must be only in one direction ( GBP-->Wen page)?
I hope you can comment.
Thanks!!!!!!!!!
yes do it !~
@@chris-palmer thanks for response. Sorry to manny question , sure it was to much to ask. I could not take any action base on your short answer.
But thanks anyway and i am subscriber!!!!
Great insights, Chris!
One question... this technique influence the organic rankings only, right? It helps ranking in Maps too? Since the proximity factor. I'm ambitious enough to expand 40-50 km away from my actual location... make sense to rank organically for all the wanted locations using this method, but Maps too?? unless I create pins for each location.
I appreciate it! Thanks, mate!

@@chris-palmer , thanks taking time to answer! My question is if this technique (from video) helps ranking in Maps too??? Or it applies for organic rankings only??

Could you please do a video about Google link spam update (SpamBrain) ?
My services are virtual, and I go back and forth between two areas about 90 minutes apart. I want calls to come from both areas. How do I make this happen?
Build pages , run ads
Hey Christ, what happens to the content? Can it be the same and just change the city + keyword for the targeting pages?
Mostly the same , usually google indexes on first 472 tokens , so make sure first 200 words and headers are carried you’ll do great with that
@@chris-palmer thanks for the answer, but what do you mean “are carried”?
@@chris-palmerhow do you know how many tokens (in don’t know what you mean by that) does google indexes?
Hey Chris, you’re a huge help! Definitely going to join the mastermind asap. Just to make sure I understand, if I did facial services.. I should have pages like
/facial-services/Clearwater
/facial-services/st-Pete
/Facial-services/largo
Like facial services he a parent page and then have each location?
Also would it help to write a page about each location then internal link them to the pages?
yes and looking forward to it
@@chris-palmer awesome, thank you for answering. & as long as the H1 & URL are different it won’t be considered duplicate content ?
@@amberavant you might still be duplicate however duplicate content is not a penalty and your targeting different SERPS so there is no issue my friend 1

Hey Chris. I live in Hawaii and want to rank throughout the state for my services but my office address is on 1 of the 6 main islands. Is there a way to know the search metrics for people on different islands + specific services?
Also, how the heck do you create so many different location based service pages without google flagging all your pages as copy/pasted pages even if you change your copy up?
Question 1 , not really without adding modifiers to your tools. question 2 when targeting seperate serps your never competing with yourself no one sees the other pages to tell on you
@@chris-palmer thank you for your reply. I always thought the google algorithms would see similarities and seem your page wrong
@@Johamo Too many people worry about "duplicate content." Even Google’s John Mueller says, "For most marketers, duplicate content is nothing to stress about. If you publish posts with quality content and steer clear of poor SEO tactics like keyword stuffing, you won’t face penalties for duplicate content." I have six websites I use for e-commerce. Typically, I publish the same articles on all six, but I change every third word or so with a synonym or product-related word and use different locations and products.
any advice on real estate keywords for this strategy... for example "Homes for Sale Detroit"... I'm looking to get more phone calls the selling someones home side of things

thank you very much.
Is it okay to still make service pages for the locations you want to serve, even if your main office isn't in that city but close to it? Say for example, my main office is in Ft Laudy, is it okay to create a service page for Pembroke Pines even if I don't have a location there?

So
I have a party hire business

Hey Chris - Can you answer the Question - what GSC High Impressions - Low Clicks indicate
1
2
3
etc.......thanks greg
9,000 impressions 11 Clicks "difference between catholic and christian"
high impression low click 1. Low on page serp so grabbing impression but no clicks. 2. Check GSC for competing pages . 3. Look at the titles / meta in top 3 slots copy those for a better click rate.
How much would it cost for you to help build out ten location pages?
Depends on the optimization needed and whos doing it me or my team.
how can we do proper keyword research for our service pages? also, usually google my business profile changes instantly reflect their impact within minutes. once the page is cached by google does it show the impact? or does it take a bit longer?
I would give this 5 days before cheking
great info young man..greg

Hi Chris. I am a real estate agent. I have 1 GBP in one city. Based on your video, I would create a GBP for each city in the 10 mile radius where I want to rank? How is that possible if Google asks for a specific location address and confirming it via mail?
Some tactics are not for everyone.
Go with one address if you have one physical office in the city.
Im confused about this, do we just get friends in those areas to let us list our business under their house address?
too bad this doesn't work for SAB....do an updated video for SAB please Chris?
