- Why Did Count Dooku Hate General Grievous Lightsaber Collection?
General Grievous is famed for having a vast collection of lightsabers, taken from the unfortunate Jedi who had fallen to his blades. But Count Dooku held a high degree of disdain for this collection. Dooku was a master of form 2, the most elegant of the lightsaber forms, and he held skill with a blade as something that was of great value. But Grivous represented pretty much everything Dooku hated. Dooku despised wielders of multiple lightsabers as well as cybernetics, essentially seeing it as dishonourable cheating. He therefore believed Grievous' boastful collecting of Jedi lightsabers as an affront to his deeply held love for elegant lightsaber styles, believing Grievous did not deserve to consider these Jedi kills as real trophies

Considering that the original (and much better) lore origins of grievous was literally dooku blowing him up, blaming the Jedi, and then giving him his cybernetics that’s peak hypocrisy.

I can imagine Dooku found it disrespectful and undignified of Grevious to rob the lightsabers from the dead as well, much like how it was a huge disrespect to allow a viking to die without their weapon in their hand etc. Dooku has always struck me as a traditional person with a lot of respect and dignity
Yeah i think even though the jedi were the enemy, dooku had respect for them as combatants. He even referred to them as old friend. His character would take issue with grievous' slaughter and disrespect
@Liquefaction if I'm honest, I don't think Dooku ever really viewed the Jedi as the enemy. He shared the same beliefs as Qui Gon and only joined the Sith with plans to overthrow Palpatine. I feel like it was more of him viewing the Jedi as an obstacle and a religion he no longer agreed with. Idk if you've seen Tale of the Jedi, but I think that certainly shows how he really struggled to go against the Jedi the way he did and after everything he done, he just believed there was no way back, he wasn't as easily brain washed like Anakin was so he could see the truth etc.

The worst anyone can say is that perhaps they weren't Dooku's own preferred methods as what was taught to Grievous were ways to make up for his lack of the Force. People gotta remember that Dooku was a Sith at the end of the day, so any honor he had, had its limits.

Grievous deserves more recognition. Dude was a major threat that got portrayed as a coward in the movies.
I like to see it as basically the Jedi hating how effective and savage/ruthless he was (killing ANY Jedi whatsoever, of ANY age) and because of that, they called him a coward as a "come out and face me like a man you COWARD" kind of thing since he typically would surround a Knight or Master with Magnas and/or Destroyers and Commando Droids and then use them to divide his/her attention and strength so he could go in for an easier/more predictable kill/capture. Is this cowardly? Yes in a sense, but it was very strategic given his disadvantages, even though they were few in number his lack of force abilities and defense thereof required such tactics to stay alive and be as effective and threatening as he was.

In Disney /Filloni Retcon, during the Clone Wars media before TCW he was just a proud Kaleesh warrior who tried to defend his tribe before being heavily wounded and brainwashed into believing that Jedi destroyed his tribe and his loved ones.
Dooku is just salty that Grievous can body Jedi despite the fact that he was born a force insensitive alien.
In all seriousness, his use of two or four sabers could be seen as cheating in a technical sense, but when you lack the supernatural abilities of your opponents, you take every advantage that cybernetics give you and run with them.
As a previous comment stated, it shouldn’t be considered cheating because Grievous is using the tools provided to him to give himself an advantage over his foe. In war there is no cheating.

It’s not cheating because at any given moment a Jedi can easily use the force on him and he can die. Even Dooku told him once you fight a real Jedi Master meaning experienced Jedi like Obi-Wan, Windu, Anakin, Yoda, Kit Fisto, Plo Koon then you flee because the force is just so OP against someone who isn’t Force Sensitive. In my opinion he’s leveling the playing fields

Definitely didn’t hate the collection. He helped him hone his skills so he could collect more trophies. The whole point was to kill jedi, and they couldn’t just take him to get crystals.

this is also why ventress is so cool to me. she uses dookus style of curved saber and makashi but also uses a 2nd saber and mixes the acrobatic duel saber style into her own version of dookus style. he probably hates that but on some level also respects it. she is able to use makashi altered with a similar style to anakins aggresive over powering style well enough to over power anakin himself and also obiwan the master of defense who dooku also had some respect for.. both of them at the same time

Form 5 was more elegant. Form 2 Makashi wasn't more elegant it was just designed for saber against saber combat.

Dooku thought that Grievous' hobby would hinder his ability when it came to hunting jedi. Having a saber stolen from him would wound his pride and he would no longer be calm and collected which carries the potential of Being defeated

Well he already hated Anakin for multiple reasons. Hell, he hated Anakin for using a robotic hand. For Dooku, he thought it was a crutch. He believed that Anakin should have worked around the limitation of losing his hand.

Dooku was the one who made Grevious cybernetic, suggesting the medical procedure back when he was a Kaleesh and after Grevious said no, he strapped a bomb under his ship to force Grevious to undergo the procedure

Duku duel wielded light sabers at one point

Dooku was critical about dual weapon fighting in general and looked down upon those who fought with two or more weapons. When thinking about his duel with Anakin Skywalker on Geonosis, he criticised the Padawan's use of Jar'Kai as a "sad attempt". In his eyes, a second blade meant you weren't able to won with one. As he ruminates in the novel Labyrinth of Evil: "What was to become of elegance and galantry if a duelist couldn't make do with one blade?" With that said, Dooku did actually respect his apprentice's decisions when it came to their choice of weapons. It's just that he largely found their way of fighting unbecoming of the swordsmen and women he knew they could be. High expectations for sure but that's what made Dooku a good teacher: he knew his apprentices could achieve great things if they properly applied themselves. In this regard, I would say that Qui Gon Jinn is Dooku's greatest achievement because while he didn't become the greatest duelist in the Jedi Order, he took his teacher's lessons to heart and applied them to his own style to make up for it's shortcomings.

Fun fact: while count Dooku was highly proficient with form 2 as his personal style, he was pretty much a master in all forms and would mirror his opponents form in combat to flex on/mock them

What annoyed me in Episode 3 was that Grievous had 4 lightsabers but attacked as through he had 1 weapon. You don't attack the same target with all your weapons at once.
Grievous doesn't have the force though so him having 4 lightsabers can give him a higher chance of winning if he only had 1

I mean a large aspect of it was probably just the fact that, especially in the early years of the Clone Wars, Dooku still held deep respect for many Jedi whom he was once friends with. He was a sith but notably he really did take no pleasure in killing the Jedi, at least not in the same way Grievous did. Seeing him take trophies from fallen Jedi, some of which may have once been friends or padawans of friends, would probably not sit well with him.
He hated how dishonorable Grievous is and yet he decided to remove the cyborg’s sense of honor upon his creation when they altered his brain. Also that just sounds like skill issue for Dooku.

Grievous is a good, evil guy. He was a high class killer. Perfect beard, perfect manners, yet a viciously ambitious man. Too bad he wasn't on the light side.
Funnily enough dooku did this to grievious, as he was an honorable warrior warlord before, and then dooku cut the breaks on his spaceship or whatever and put him in this situation
It also because Jedi consider Lightsabers sacred tools, to have them reduced to a collection and used as tools to kill and make more collection additions, would seem like an act of discretion and dishonor to an esteemed former Jedi like Count Dooku
Light sabers to make any sense had to require the force to be used. They really messed up not connecting it.
