    The number book comment is under rated. One f-up and the time it takes to trouble shoot and ring out wires will pay for dozens of the books.
    Nobody ever considers what they didn’t spend when you pay for preventative costs.

    It might be helpful to tape the hot and its neutral as you first pull them from the spool before grouping all together. Seems easier and less chance for mix up.

    07:04 "If you tape this up, I dunno man, you gotta go run to the Porta Potty and back or something". LOL!!! I was literally laughing out loud after that comment. But I still have NO CLUE what it means?!? heheheh Does he mean the person is full of ****? Or is this a reference to puke? I don't know but it's so random it's funny as hell.

    Beofre we go further good video! I think its worth noting this works in commercial and residential but industrial will require further identification of wires.

    If you give that tape a couple of twists before you tear it, the tape forms a little tail that makes it easier to get off the wire.

    Not bad. I found that safety band really prevents a wire from slipping out.

    • @empoweredkc
      @empoweredkc  3 роки тому +1

      Also if the head breaks, sometimes you can snag the safety band with an open head fish tape. Gotta make sure you trim the wires of any damage but all Home Runs have to have that band!

    And would you make the head the same for stranded or would you strip back the insulation and fold the copper from each wire over your rope or fish tape?

    • @empoweredkc
      @empoweredkc  3 роки тому +2

      Sorry for the delay my man.
      If you are pulling a head made up of #12 or #10 wires I would strip about 6” of insulation off, cut half the strands off each conductor, and fold them all over the fish tape of jet line.
      Remember to get the end of the wire past where the insulation stops so you don’t create a snag point.
      Feel like a future video will show case this 😉

    How about a little black red blue or brown orange yellow tape on your neutrals?

      That’s a great idea. Honestly anything that makes it easy to identify is well worth the time and money 💯💯💯

    What's the best way to get the tightest wire nut connection that won't come undone on stranded wire let's say 10s or 8s?

    • @empoweredkc
      @empoweredkc  3 роки тому

      Blue Wire Nuts are big wires best friend.
      Seriously when you make a material order make sure you have 25-50 big blue wire nuts on-site and you will thank me….
      This is also the best way to make up wires on pole lights. Don’t push reds to the max 🙏🙏🙏

    what about stagger with no loop and then clove hitch and 2 half hitches?

  • @Yogizilla
    @Yogizilla 4 місяці тому

    Another tip: do multiple lead wires and stagger them. Do not bend onto insulation as you want to inside the bends match the width of the Bundle of wires and will clear 50% fill of conduit though ideally 40% . sadly on the field you'll see much higher fill rates so it becomes a struggle. Use wire pulling soap and pray.

      Spending a little extra time making the head tight and smooth makes the day so much better. Also make sure you are yelling, "PUSH" so whoever is helping is feeding the wire at the same time. Team work baby 👊

    When I wired my shop with 1/2" emt I didn't know about THHN and lube. So I pulled like 15 feet of 12/2 and 12/3 romex through 1/2" emt. And since I didn't have a bender at the time so I used pull elbows which are a curse to use but a blessing to have.

      I'm sure the whole time you were thinking, "There has got to be a better way" lol. Pulling wire is for sure the most epic game of tug o war... I remember the last head that broke. I was pulling into an outside pole light with linemans. When the head got out of the conduit it broke loose and the linemans hit me in the mouth so hard I fell down, mouth bloodied, and maybe cried a little. I have never made up a crappy head again haha.

      Most inspectors will not allow type NMB cable pulled thru conduit in my area. They will allow a few feet to be pulled in basements down a wall. No such thing called times in any code books.

    Brown orange & yellow are not high voltage colors! They are the colors most commonly used for 480 volts three phase. High voltage does not start until some where above 20,000 volts! Back in the 1970 & 80'S we had 13,200 volt dual services in several buildings and called that high voltage but now called medium voltage.

    • @empoweredkc
      @empoweredkc  Рік тому +1

      Pish Posh lol. When you are on a commercial job site high voltage is BOY and low is BRB... Keep that lineman talk for outside ;) ps. I know you're technically correct just trying to help the commercial sparkys out here

    Worried about a foot of wire?
    But buys supper 33+ to pull wire!
    Hay if you twist your tape a few times before you break it it will make it easy to get it off the wire so you don't have to cut the wire off. Also makes it easy to get it started off the role the next time.

    • @empoweredkc

      Great tip with the tape, saving time & copper 💯
      If it was a short pull, you could modify the length of wire needed to make a secure head, but nothing is more costly, frustrating, and kills your flow state, like a broken wire head, especially if it is a long home run 🤦🏻‍♂️💀
      Thanks a ton for the comment! Appreciate your commitment to making the Trade Better!
