I feel like 90% of the people commenting missed the point. You can celebrate the fact that you don't adhere to sterotypes without bashing "baby mommas" and women you see as "ratchet". Also, those of you saying these are the reasons why you don't date black men is lazy and a lie. I've been called an "oreo" all my life and have never had an issue finding a black man who accepts me and holds the same interests that I do.
THIS RIGHT HERE !!!! I try deleting all the comments that bash “baby mothers” or black people from the hood because that is not the point of the video at all . My neighborhood isn’t the best one and I don’t like it when ppl comment disparaging things about people who grew up in those kinds of neighborhoods !!! thanks for your comment
Facts, I grew up in not the best neighborhood but I still have “weird interests” (cartoons, comic books) that aren’t stereotypically black that I just have always liked, white people had nothing to do with it
It seems to only be applicable to Black women too. I don't like that cause Black males get away with so much more. I don't see nearly enough backlash that the women get when it comes to this type of stuff.
Well I go to school with the “Oreos” and they look down on me so horrible like I’m a ghetto bum or something and they seek white acceptance to go to Sarah’s lake house 😭 it’s very sad and uncomfortable to me when nobody even says anything too them! Y’all need to look at both sides some of these black whitewashed girls do look down on girls that had to struggle and don’t speak like them. It’s not either side fault. But whitewashing is a thing. Simply too say you can’t get upset when they say mean absurd things when they just don’t understand the reason why you don’t sound or dress or do the same hair as them !! Ignorance is bliss !! We just need to talk about it more instead of bashing each other about it and we need to learn our history and see how this effects us
You know damn well no one has ever said that too you 😂. Older people don’t know rappers, alot of black People don’t even listen to rap! Y’all are out to try to make your own people look bad as possible and it’s only going to bring harm to you
What’s so sad about this is how dumb it is. There is no one way of acting black. Acting black isn’t a real thing, I’m just Black and that’s it. My skin color does NOT dictate my interests.
I get this all the time. I'm black, dark skinned and from the Caribbean and my hobbies aren't particularly "black". I play tennis and rugby, I enjoy sailing, rock climbing, camping and speak standard English. When I was in primary school I was always told that I was "trying to be white". When the only thing I've tried to do is to be myself and follow my interests.
Caribbean girl here too and I can relate in some ways. In secondary school I had classmates tell me that I was trying to "act white" or "like a white girl" because I was quiet and not loud and outgoing like other girls or that I didn't like certain foods or dances. I was considered a nerd because I like to read and that I actually did homework and tried my best at school.
Yea I agree with you a 💯% .I feel like if you say something such as “I don’t believe in BLM” or intentionally rude to black people because of their skin color and you push down black people to lift up white people. It’s all within the mindset not the looks and hobbies.
@@AbrasiveYouth it’s not jealousy it’s just ignorance they don’t understand why y’all dress or act similar too the stereotypes of white people. Also giving blacks and whites history with each other some people find that it doesn’t add up .
maybe it would help if you stopped assuming just because others have the same skin color as you, they’ll be your friend or are your “people”. a lot of black people are against other black people
Me: wild hairstyles, no makeup (just brows mostly), long skirts and warm sweaters, calm music People: whitewash! Me: this is hippie life, not white life. Stfu.
One of the comments under that video was "Somebody please take her to the hood"? Why? Is that where all the *real* black people are? Stuff like that is why I deleted that app and it will stay deleted off my phone until further notice ✌️
I went to a predominately white all girls boarding school during high school. My friend's back home would always clown me because I spoke Latin and French and played the cello. When I went to college I joined a black sorority and found black women who embraced me for me. Find your tribe and don't concern yourself with people who don't mesh well with your personality.
Thanks for covering this topic. I'm a woman and I happen to be black. It shouldn't limit how I experience life. The black community is a prison in so many ways and will do a number on your emotional health unless you practice mindfulness and research all the different ways of being in the world.
‘The black community is a prison in so many ways’. A mass generalisation of black people when complaining about you generalising black women. The irony #makeitmakesense #ohitdoesntmakesense
@@lillies2011 maybe English was not your strong suit but when I say “them” I clearly mean the “limitations that are imposed on black people by black people” not black people . Don’t let ignorance and anger cloud your reading capabilities .
@@lillies2011 it’s not her fault you misinterpreted her statement. Maybe next time try not to jump to conclusions? 🤔 Seems like the “L”is yours for the taking.

I was bullied all throughout school for being “white washed” that’s why I was never really friends with other AA. I was mainly friends with Africans, Trinidad, Colombians, Mexican (sometimes) and immigrants. I just related more to them
I received a lot of slack from black immigrants and first gens (primarily nigerians and hatians to be specific) for being “too AA” or “too black”, looking down upon me. but i also received slack from AA for being “too white”. i wish people could just be themselves across all boards. i’m really sorry for your experience
@V King it’s simple, there’s just sucky ignorant people on all sides, on top of ppl just being too small minded to accept that different ppl exist in their world.
Ski Jackson might not see it but she speaks like she’s around white culture (nothing wrong with that) but her telling the girl to move her hair maybe stems from people telling her to act more “black”.
@@amberxraeee you don’t understand why I said that... for skai to be commenting on somebody who is white washed , she’s not regular black to me at all. She herself is white washed. Fuck is an Amber Rae. Sounds white washed .
I’m 30 years old have always loved reading books, nature , travel, long hikes etc and grew up predominantly black and still had people call me white washed I stopped caring and now go to rave style festivals loud and proud , nothing will take away my blackness
The funny thing about this is that people always assume that if you behave or speak a certain way or if you like certain things that you grew up in a predominantly white area but it's not always true. I always went to schools and lived in areas that were either predominantly black or about a 50/50 mix and I've always grown up hearing that I sound white or that I act white -- predominantly by other black people. It's so fucking toxic that people can't accept that we are not a monolith and that people are allowed to be whp they are without having to live up to every stereotype. It's also sad that certain attributes like excelling in academics or being more even tempered and mild mannered are automatically considered white. The black community needs to do better in some ways and this is one of them.
That's very true . I grew up in a black area but I went to a PWI high school then a very racially diverse college . It is a really bad setback for the community when we cannot be whoever we are without having to sacrifice our individuality to be perceived as black .
Honestly! I went to a predominantly black secondary school, and lived in a 50/50 neighbourhood too, but I grew up living anime, kpop and kpop (which was "uncool" at the time), I'm also British so it annoys me when people around so shocked when hearing my accent for the first time like I'm supposed to be illiterate or not sound like I should 🤔
Growing up I always got comments like “you act like a white girl”, “ you are a white girl in a black girl body”, “ why do you talk white”. I’m not bashing black women that are “loud” but when I moved to Missouri, black boys would I always assume I would be loud and they were surprised that I am very shy and quiet. It’s very annoying.
At 31, I’m STILL perceived as “acting white” and trying to distance myself from my culture because of how I speak and my interests. Thankfully I’m old enough to no longer care, but it definitely gave me a complex as a teen. To the young Black girls dealing with this: do NOT give these ignorant fools an ounce of your energy. Be yourself and be proud of who you are. I guarantee you that the folks who have something to say will be completely irrelevant and forgotten within a year of your high school graduation, if not sooner.
Amen to this: 8:19 - “You see like on the internet, there’s always people that are like, ‘We need to start protecting black women. Black women need to be respected. And black women are so disrespected. And we need to protect them. But it’s like you’ll turn around and you’ll fully disrespect people on the internet because they’re not the type of black women that you want them to be.”

People I work with say this to me all the time. They call me an “Oreo” or say that I’m boujee because I’m not ghetto and know how to articulate and have knowledge about things that they don’t. They also say this because I’m not having sex with and every man that says I’m cute. They literally mock me because I choose to be celibate and want to wait until marriage. 😒
you need to learn how to adapt.. i grew up around mostly WP and learnt that in order to fit in, you need to emulate them. but around my family and BP i was myself. i didnt need to put on my White voice or change my persona. so around BP you need to identify as a BP and that means not always talking in the Queens English, learn some slang and spend more time around your people and then you'll blend in.... im from the UK and ive been to Canada, Jamaica and USA and they all thought i was actually from their countries, because blended in so well.
@@Saveren_ you dont have to be 'ratchet enough' nobody likes ratchet. its more of an idea that 'they think you think you are better than them' for talking, behaving better etc
@V King your absolutely right. I’m 18 about to turn 19 and a virgin. 90 percent of my friend in high school were not virgins. I watch a video on UA-cam called “would you date a virgin?” And majority said how there is no way they would wait or they would Cheat etc. it is disheartening.
I can relate. I straighten my hair. My sister is natural. She has told me I’m insecure because I straighten my hair. I’ve been told I act white because of the way I speak. Listen, I’m gonna be me. I don’t care if I’m not black enough for you. That’s your problem.
To me, thinking a person is insecure because they straightened their hair is a relatively valid observation. Especially if that's been the excuse for others. But some people do just straighten their hair entirely for stylistic purposes and not insecurity.
I was adopted by a white family , I grew up in a 90% white COUNTRY , Right now I live in England so It’s more diverse . I really struggle to make black friends because I always feel like I’m weird to them 😞
Hey, just wanted to spread some positivity!! Keep being who you are and you will be blessed with beautiful people around you!! Not every black person is the same or has the same experiences! Don't let anybody put you in a box, continue to be true to yourself!!
Black girls, do you. All just because you don't speak in AAVE or act stereotypically black or have non-stereotypical interests doesn't mean you aren't valued. For black boys we're called lame or nerds for being "whitewashed". I personally prefer black girls with this demeanor. Keep doing you!
@Motown Gayes not every bw you perceive to be white washed has self hatred or looks down at other types of black women. Being black is more than skin deep. It’s a culture and experience, all of which someone can fully accept and have pride in even if they straighten their hair or have “euro” features.

Nah I been following Teala for a while and she just started to embrace her natural hair and her identity. She used to say her weave was her hair, that she was mixed etc. She was pandering to her white friends odee. I'm glad she embraced her features and who she is but her personality she can't change and I never minded it. However, black people are not the same and should be fear to talk, wear and date whoever they want. Can't believe this is a discussion in 2021.
Honestly what really annoys me about the whole situation is that most black girls unfortunately go through a self hatred period . No one allowed Teala to go through to this as well because she’s a public figure but she’s also a black girl . No one sees that because she’s rich and famous and it’s unfair .
@@AbrasiveYouth which I understand but to a certain extent, exactly she was a public figure which she had a platform that had girls look up to her/watch her. Her parents should of been monitoring what type of content she was putting out and should of been saying affirmations to her. @@AbrasiveYouth yess, you articulated this so well. Like people were being so nasty to her, but like I think it was because she triggered a lot of people’s insecurities about their “race” & it was just cringe-y content in general.
I can’t even count how many times in middle and high school a black American girl would tell me “I was too cute to be African.” Or would claim they were “mixed with Indian” bc god forbid you just black. @@AbrasiveYouth 😂 It's been years and I'm still trying to figure it out lol thankfully now that I'm more sure of myself these comments don't bother me as much
2 things can be true at once there is such a thing as white music and Black music, it's a reason we all know the words to free yourself by fantaisa and none of Shania Twain lol. There are also cultural differences I don't eat potluck food that hasn't been ordered from a store cause idk how they cook stuff at home or if they wash they chicken. There's also a segment of the population that admitted to not washing their legs or even know what a wash rag is and I'm not trying to be shady it just is what it is we all know it and see it we just don't have to say anything or be rude about it. I was the "whitewashed" Blk girl in highschool. I had my natural hair, wore eclectic clothing, I had Nick Jonas wallpaper on my phone, didn't wear Jordans or Nike, listened to Florence and the machine and Paramore, watched "nerdy" videos on UA-cam instead of the Black couple vloggers. I grew up and with to school with a bunch or non Black ppl and at 21 I still only have 1 Black girl friend. Most of my friends are Latinx and South Asain. I think whitewashed Blk girl's are just as beautiful and deserving of respect as the ghetto fabulous Blk girl's and the Alt Blk girl's and so on. I see this division mostly online because irl we all mesh well and have similar stories. I got along with all the Blk girl's in my high school and college and I'm sure when I graduate next year I'll get along with my Black woman coworkers 🥰
No doubt that there are some cultural differences obviously . I just dislike that we put such an emphasis on these division and make fun of black people that are "alternative" and like the things that are considered "white interest" . Culturally liking things that are meant for white people and being made fun of is ridiculous . I honestly do not have any white friends but I've been called "whitewashed" before because I went to an all girls private PWI so people assume things about me based on stereotypes .
I grew up also wearing i guess "white brands" and a lot of black girls in school made fun of me. I shopped at like abercrombie, hollister, pacsun, wore skechers, and vans. I remember having to beg my mom to get a pair of jordans one time just so i would stop being bullied. I also did a lot of activities that people said were "white" like hiking, kayaking, camping. It was weird to me because I didn't know going hiking was only for "white people" it was such a weird concept for me. As I got older though I found more black women who grew up like I did, and not necessarily white washed but at least had an understanding of where I came from. Like people will even be surprised when i tell them hip-hop, rap, and r&b isn't my favorite genre of music. they always look at me like im crazy. like i tell people i like rock music or indie or worship music and theyre like omg why. and im like i can like whatever i want.
I got so much hate from other black people because I "talked white". I always tried to connect with my people but as soon as I open my mouth, the insults and "Jokes" start. The more I tried to get their acceptance, the more depressed I got and I had to come to term that I won't be accepted by a large majority of black people just for being myself.
The worst part is it'll be the same people who say you shouldn't be policing black people's behavior and you shouldn't be pushing stereotypes onto black people; but they're doing the same thing. Honestly does it matter what any woman but especially a young black girl does with her hair and her life. How does that affect you?
People try to police black women who aren’t stereotypical because they are jealous of people living in an authentic way that they probably think that they are unable to, and that’s just sad.
I'm not sure that's it. No shade but not every white person is jealous of black ppl. You gotta be comfortable in your own skin. Which means having no want to be another race. Don't cone for me for my opinion
@@GodStillHatesUs not that they are jealous of black people just that they are jealous of *people* living their authentic way. "They" being anyone who is uncomfortable with themselves not just white ppl, so essentially what you reiterated in your comment :)
I think you definitely have a point. It really is a balance between celebrating your background and going too far. In any case, you are you- you are beautiful if you believe you are beautiful.
My friend would say I'm white because of my behavior and things I said. Which I felt didn't make sense, nothing about me gave that vibes. I was just really polite and calm kid that liked Starbucks, and the music I listened to was “white”

Ughhh, my life summed up in a video. I am a black woman who grew up in Morgantown WV, I listen to rock music, date white guys, wear hair extensions, I'm vegan and enunciate my words... apparently, I've been white washed. As a black woman I love all of you guys. Doesn’t matter about the way you speak(AAVE or not) what music you listen how you dress, or how you grew up. All that matters is that you are here. You should get respect whether you look like the girls from 7:44 or if you have alternative fashion, or if you wear grunge style outfits or if you wear just blue Jeans and a sweater or if you just wear whatever is comfortable. It doesn’t matter if you wear a wig or no wig, a weave or no weave, straight hair or curly hair, box braids or a fishtail braid. And it doesnt matter if you like country, rnb, rap, indie, alternative rnb, alternative rock, or music from a different country. Just know that we didn’t choose to exist but we do chose how we want to experience this existence! Do you and like she said live and let live. I don’t let this shit bother me because I know why I like the things I like. Recognize flaws when needed and then have gratitude that you were able to go inward cuz not everybody can do that easily. Take care of yourself and loved ones. Respect other people’s self expression as you respect your’s. And the people who shun you are looking for themselves and are trying to validate their feelings by putting others down. Can’t get rid of people like that so keep distance/protect yourself. To conclude this, PHUCUMOL!
Yooooo I relate to this so much! It's like we're a threat either way. If we act "black" we're seen as threatening, if we act "white" we're seen as threatening ughhhh 🙄
So my dad was a funeral director/ casket salesman up in Cleveland, Ohio who would embalm a lot of black funeral homes. That’s a big deal for a black ran funeral home to trust my dad as a white man, and get those cosmetics correct. Especially, for my father being white. So he was good friends with one of the black funeral directors who had a son going to high school, I think a junior around that time. The dad was saying his son would get teased by other black classmates for actually studying, preparing for college, calling him names and saying “you’re just going to be a white boy now? You want to be white going to school and let a white man tell you what to do?” Which is so disheartening because education belongs to everyone and the racism within the black community there was so bad. Everyone deserves education to better themselves and become the leader in their own life. How do they suppose his dad became a funeral director? It’s beyond me. You deserve to be happy, and be your own leader in your life. Ignore the bully’s and stereotypes jealous people want to label you! 💕 muah!!!
I am so glad that you are speaking on this. I think that policing is part of our Black trauma. I see Black women with braids who constantly toss their or play with their braids. The people who are hating don’t realize that they are doing the work of the colonizer. Policing women or Black people who don’t “act” black is another symptom of our collective trauma. Keep up this work; we need your voice. I do not think that people do not realize unless you grew up in Wakanda, you have been “whitewashed” because colonialism mindset has penetrated all humans who have had contact with Europeans. Attacking others for not meeting a perceived expectation is the work of the colonizer.
I changed the way i talked and how I dressed around 15 because I was being talked about for acting white. I attended all white schools and honestly couldn’t help it. My own people bullied me so bad. I worked on my Ebonics and how I spoke just to be accepted . I was just saying the other day how I see this girls videos on tik tok and the comments are ridiculous! Let’s not forget she’s still very young and is figuring out her aesthetic and what she likes it’s not fair to put so much pressure on black people to fit a certain narrative
This whole issue is the definition of “make it make sense” and “keep that same energy”. As you said, everyone says to support black women but instead choose to gatekeep and bully black women living their lives
Wow. I’m the type of person who is too shy to create any kind of platform like this. With that being said, I am so glad you said everything that I generally think when logging on to social media in general. The “are you okay?”’s killed me because that goes through my head consistently, while reading comments😂. You truly hit the nail on its head. Scrolling through comments is a scary thing because it DOES show you that these people have ZERO home training. It’s just flat out scary to think that people actually think certain ways. Also, one major thing ive noticed is it’s all a game of “follow the leader.” They see one comment that is out of pocket/unnecessary/degrading/“savage” with multiple ‘likes’.....they won’t come up with anything original...no, no...they will then follow-suit and either repeat the same comment over and over OR say something very similar adding a word or two to fancy it up to continue degrading a person to gain likes and attention. It’s a WEIRD power trip for these young kids to degrade others with cyber bullying. For some reason they feel the need to tell a person how THEY THINK that person should wear their hair and/or look. If you don’t look the way they want you to look....it’s open season for cyber bullying against you. These are the same people who want you to look how they want you to look and have zero originality. It’s either follow-suit or parish. The “what I say goes” mentality. Also, Skai Jackson.....lol. There’s a video I ran across about her having some sort of personal vendetta about light skinned/mixed females. She has a fake page or wait...what is it that the kids call it? A “spam” page? Where she gets on there mocking females by reposting their “spam” posts and mocking their posts, commenting nasty things and sending her friends to do the same. It’s sad. I was rooting for her ridiculously. As a dark skinned female, I saw so much GOOD potential in her and was proud of how her mother seemed to be raising her. After watching that one video about her and actually seeing the gross behavior from her....I now just realized that baby girl needs prayer and lots of it. She’s digging herself into some major karma and doesn’t even see it. It’s sad.
THIS! I spent most of middle school being called white because I listened to different music and dressed differently from my peers. I remember other black kids being called weird for liking anime a drawing and now everyone loves k-pop and Attack on Titan. Am I supposed to just forget about how people treated me back then because it’s trendy now?
i was bullied growing up all the way up till my senior year of high school for being "too white" and because my mom raised me with manners (i literally had someone ask me why i acted the way i did when my mom was from the hood). i hope it'll change once i start college. i'm just used to it now
I remember walking on a board walk and someone said "why is she dressed so white?" That rlly confused me at that moment bc I didn't know clothes have a race attached to it.
I have been called every white-washed thing ever. I grew up going to a private school first, then most of my friends just happened to be white and hispanic. I remember even being lighter skinned I knew I had privilege right away. I am part white but not 50/50. My mom is black and white, and my dad is black and white. However, I remember one day this black girl in my school was like why do you talk that way? And I didn't understand what "talking white" was. My parents were both highly educated and my mom went to an Ivy League and my dad was a successful Jazz Musician. Growing up it was very hard because I was like never "white" enough for them or I wasn't "black" enough for them. Most of my friends now are actually of the hispanic/latinx community because they never gave a crap about how I spoke or what my education was or how I dressed. Im so used to being called the oreo girl though and i hated it for so long, but this is just who i am. I am myself i don't act white or act black or act anything. it's so dumb
@Mani Bear💋 no because im technically only 36% white my parents arent fully half black and half white. Im 60% black 36% white and like 4% Native American. My parents grew up black and when things were still very racist. So in their world I am black.
@Mani Bear💋 technically I am multi racial but if you get political people will say Im black mostly because I dont have like a fully white mom or dad and the other parent is fully black. I have white cousins and black cousins and mixed cousins too its all over the place. Thats why growing up was so hard for me because i didnt fit in one particular group nor did I look one particular way. A lot of black girls made fun of me for not “looking black” because i do have more eurocentric features but that isnt my fault and I happen to have lighter skin. I definitely know my privilege. I have gotten more jobs. I get treated differently in places because They will tell me “omg thank God you dont talk ratchet or ghetto” ive been called a Pretty Nig*** and even the best one esp from other races “wow ive never been with a black girl like you before” which is absolutely appalling. As a person of color I believe we should all come together and definitely stop putting each other against one another! 💖💖💖
@@mirandaholley9797 yeah and when my parents grew up u were just black. My parents are a lot older and grew up when things were actually still segregated so by one drop rule they were black.
I agree with this. Black girls are allowed to be individuals too. But as for Teala Dunn she did used to be kinda whitewashed like claiming being German and that her weave is her real hair. But I do agree that the hate she gets is unnecessary. I kinda feel bad for her maybe because of those Lsa threads on her. She needs amazing friends of colour and a nice hd lace wig from Alonzo Arnold.
Im just gonna say that the way the girl dealt with the hate was so mature. Shes so young and everyone ganging up on her is so hard, especially at that age
You actually made so many valuable points. People feel so entitled to other peoples lives and get so mad when people dont fit into the boxes made for them. Everyone is so obsessed with defining blackness and its so fucking weird
I just watched the video and I'm subscribing. I totally agree with you! I'm not black, but I was confused over this situation once. A friend of mine who is black and was complaining her mother in law "acts white". And I asked what she meant with that. She said she was too sweet, too kind, etc... And I asked her what that had to do with being black. And she answered (being mean) girl, we have a black community. And I said I knew that, and asked if that wasn't just her personality. And she stayed quiet. I didn't continue, because who am I to just be questioning her (as she is a black girl). But honestly, even though I didnt say much to her, her argument never made sense to me. Because it's natural, some people are extrovert others introvert, some are polite others aren't, etc... It's not about ethnicity or anything. Anyways, I wish she knew English, so I would send her this video.
I use to think like you (for this video in particular, until recently. I am a few years older than you) as a white washed black girl. but then I personallyy realized how exhausting it feels to be around only non black people. Black people have always made me feel more seen and I feel like non black people never saw me. if anything its toxic and they are actually kinda weird. they saw me as a black girl who was "different" and some took advantage of that. But I also had self hate problems. But then also the black community can be toxic sometimes. But with teala Dunn, I see her in my eyes. her non black friends such as Sierra have slowly moved themselves from her. Sierra now has white friends to hang out with and she seems 10x happier with them than teala. she used teala because she doesn't like to be alone. All teals white friends seems to tolerate teala and what gives them that final push to be around her is because of her influence status.. Sierra is trying to get more of a personality and took some traits from teala, who ,black girl magic, already has personality. But overall I prefer black people over white/ non black friends now. this is new for me. black people have more personality and keep it real. I feel way more seen, heard and understood. but yes, some black people are ignorant, but I've learned to stick with black girls I can relate to. I would be friends with teala, yes she is "white pleasing struck" but she's black and I rather have her than an actual white girl. white/non blacks give me a headache solely just being around them. now that the savage squad, especially teala and Sierra have drifted apart, and I see how both Eva and teals life have turned into, lack of real friends and teala bff being a 18 year old, its quite sad. black people (the right kind) would've lifted her up and pointed her to the right direction. white people/non blacks are not like that. from my pov, majority of non black people don't really want to be around a black person but they do love our culture and are jealous of usCive dealt with lots of jealousy from non blacks and some have admitted to wanting to be black LOL.
@Solange Parker well Yes it can be toxic. But I do my pickings. I was born and raised in Los Angeles so I’m use to being around a lot of people. That’s why I feel like I have options. A lot of black people are moving to Atlanta GA which is HIV land lol that’s so risky
When someone they see as a more interesting white person comes along, white friends sometimes jump ship and distance themselves from their black friend.. There are some issues about black people white people will just not be able to relate to. I'd say one of the biggest is hair. Another is black people's names. Might be black people's food. Racial profiling. There are other things. However, having a diverse group of friends isn't a bad thing. On this page there was a review of Ginny and Georgia. Now black or biracial people don't have to stick with black friends, but seems as if Ginny chose the black crew as a last resort. It's not like all of the white friends were so nice to her. That race argument with Hunter was so uncomfortable to wash but it reveals the truth that if you're not white you won't be seen as white. Not by anyone. Sometimes black people paint white people as these wonderful, always kind, non-toxic people. There are no perfect people. There are always other black who are interested in the same things someone else likes. Black people really need to move on from the I'm not like other black people kind of thinking.
Eva looks like she’s doing fine, friends her age and a boyfriend. Also to me if a person is interesting they are interesting 💀I feel like you kinda went off the topic of the video. The friend thing, maybe it happens idk never heard of it
Sis, same. People always tell me “you seem like you hang around white people” even though I don’t, never have, probably never will 😂. I like being around other black people. And my friends and I act the same so I guess we’re just a bunch of “white washed” black girls 🥴.
Crazy thing is, I NEVER wanted to be white growing up 😂 I know I’m black and I’m proud, but people assumed I wanted to be white, that I dated white guys (never dated anyone before at the time), or that I was biracial or mixed (I have 2 black parents I’m just light) because of the way I talked, my interests, and the way I carry myself. I wasn’t the “typical block girl”. It’s very weird.
@@gmacgreg7738 That's 100% the reason why and with for example the music (rap/hip-hop and RnB) industry we have people like cardi b, city girls, and many others who put music out that's filled with ratchetness. So I feel like this will NEVER change :(
This is the most accurate video ever! I have been called an "Oreo" my whole life and you broke down things so well in this video. I am naturally curious which is why I know about a lot of "non-black" things. People wonder why I avoid interacting with a lot of people. Because of this BS.
My cousin said I act like a white girl and I’m shaped like that literally yesterday, I didn’t say nothing just laughed because how do u even respond to that?! She’s one of those hood types and I wasn’t raised in the hood maybe that’s why she feels like that about me, she said it as a joke

I will never try to put on a hood persona and act like I’m from the hood when that’s not me to make other black girls who are hood or from it feel great about themselves. I’m not rejecting being black just because I’m not hood or don’t want to force myself to be hood and I’m sick of those from it or put on a hood persona judging other black girls who aren’t like them . It’s starting to seem like jealousy and insecurities because all we have to do is not act like them or be like them, dress like them and it makes them angry
I expressed to my girlfriend of a year (who is black but grew up in a predominated white neighborhood) that I thought it would be cute for our daughter to have dreadlocks . To which she replied “No. Definitely not. Girls with dreads look like crackheads , especially the ones with long dreads” I’m a black man and as you can see by my profile picture I have hobbies and a style of dress that could be considered “whitewashed “ but what my girlfriend said is just completely ridiculous to me . It’s so sad that our cultire and society does not think that natural black hair is considered “beautiful” It’s one thing to simply like a style of hair , but to disrespect your own race and your races natural hair and to call it ugly is just pitiful 🤦🏿♂️
Damn she just repeated what that white woman said about Zendaya when she had locks. Her mind has been whitewashed. I’d try to have a convo with her if you’re still with her
People really do be bold behind these screens and keys. It's all animosity and shorthand until you see them in the real world and then it's all smiles and I was just joking.
Dear all girls/boys/women/men: don't feel obliged to act in accordance to stereotypes. Do what feels intuitive and beneficial for you, and your community. ✌
The resolve of it all is this ladies, the way this world is set up, there is no "way" to be as a black woman/girl in society without being scrutinized. This is not to say that women/girls who identify more on on either side of the "spectrum" don't receive more hate because they do. But, even if you tried to do and be everything that society demands of us, someone would still have something negative to say. So with this being said, let's be kind to one another and be an encouragement. We already have to fight everyone else just to exist, let's not be each others enemy. Because whether you know it or not, that negativity will always be reflected back to you.
Iv always experience this. As a black male From Texas. People didn’t under stand why my hair wasn’t a afro or I didn’t dress more “black”. I like jfashion /alternative fashion. But I think most people don’t like when someone is not in the correct stereotype box tbh. It’s triggering for them lol
For years I was called "white" based on how I spoke, and style of dress. At times our own race can throw words of hate at their own. Why cant we just live, and not be hated? Love the video!!!
I haven’t even finished yet, but exactly! Why do they act like we have to be a certain way, I’ve been around predominantly black people and switch schools only to be around both. And still came out the way I am💀, we are not all the same.
AH you liked my comment 😭and to think I was just gonna also add the switch was elementary do no pressure to be “white” and I was the quiet kid with not many friends anyways. Not I’m going to be a senior in HS with majority black friends, and I’m STILL the way I am 😭it’s just a preference I guess

All of my best friends growing up have always been black or mixed. I didn’t grow up around white people yet people have said I act white. How can that be so when my environment was always black?
I just found your channel and I can't wait to watch more videos. I just had one critique- I grew up around all black people in a black majority country and I have stereotypical white interests. Some people just have different personalities. Also, the only reasons I see people hating on Teala is because she hung out with that super racist guy and she was trying to claim she's GERMAN mixed with _black_ and it seemed she had some self hatred
Thank you & welcome 🤗 I grew up around only black people but my city is very multicultural and I went to a PWI high school . I actually have a video on my channel about Teala Dunn so feel free to check it out !
It seems to only be applicable to Black women too. I don't like that cause Black males get away with so much more. I don't see nearly enough backlash that the women get when it comes to this type of stuff.
Agreed. I’ve been on both sides of it. Ultimately, it comes down to self-acceptance and deprogramming toxic notions like respectability politics, etc.

Many girls used to try to help her out of love but she claimed it was haters, hate etc. she was a bit of a mess for a minute.
@@AbrasiveYouth but I def loved who she grown to be today and she had to learn from her mistakes as we all do
@@AbrasiveYouth yess, you articulated this so well.
There’s so much internalized racism and colorism in the community so don’t shit on a black girl who was going through what most of y’all went through. Tf?!

@@AbrasiveYouth ...they could also be jealous of you. Your absolutely pretty and from what l’ve heard in your video, intelligent.
No such thing as white music black people started music
Ur so cute! Keep being yourself cause you're perfect the way you are.
I’m sorry you had to go through that. You didn’t deserve it.

i like wearing new balances and some dumb black boy called me whitewashed and said i was trying to be white smh 🤦♀️
Trust me in the hood we wore those brands sis too 😆
I got so much hate from other black people because I "talked white".

Bruh, that's the thing, as a Nigerian, I didn't realize when I got here, I was expected to play the role: "black woman".

Honestly reminds me of how my parents would get on me for having yt friends when I was a kid as if they didn’t make the choice to move to a predominantly yt small town where I was the only black girl in my classes for the first 2 years. Like, where we grew up and the people we four ourselves around and grew connections with… that’s not our fault.

I totally relate to this video. My content is “white washed” my life is “white washed.” I do what I want 🥰 some people don’t like it, but that’s me. We don’t have to be black stereotypes.
i know i’m a little late to the party but my mom would get told that she “acted white” just because she was quiet and didn’t speak with a stereotypical blaccent…. also it’s annoying how white women can have these diverse interests and personalities but black women have to be their stereotypes to be accepted by their own community 😒
❤❤
So true.
That’s a good point, other races of women can be diverse, but it seems like we can’t.
This was me all my life

Ughhh, my life summed up in a video. I am a black woman who grew up in Morgantown WV, I listen to rock music, date white guys, wear hair extensions, I'm vegan and enunciate my words... apparently, I've been white washed.
I've learned to gravitate towards people who see me for me, not the stereotypes I fall under or the ones I break. Because we are so much more than the bundle of personality traits and quirks that can be seen on the surface 🕉
I'm from Florida and we are multicultural, everyone wants to be a mixture of EVERYTHING down here so I see what you mean.
Definitely me too my city is very diverse & super multicultural ! That’s definitely a plus
I'm first gen American. I learned to code switch after being terrorized in childhood being called "white girl ". Now I'm just called boujie 💅🏿💅🏿
“I think your issue here is the need to call a person *exactly* anything”
I changed the way i talked and how I dressed around 15 because I was being talked about for acting white. I attended all white schools and honestly couldn’t help it. My own people bullied me so bad. I worked on my Ebonics and how I spoke just to be accepted . Even stopped dressing in clothes I liked because I was told I dress white. was laughed at in a mall by a group of people because of my shoes and clothes. I’m 31 now and wish I would’ve stayed true to myself now I don’t gaf
Yes forgive them
i was bullied growing up all the way up till my senior year of high school for being "too white" and because my mom raised me with manners (i literally had someone ask me why i acted the way i did when my mom was from the hood). i hope it'll change once i start college. i'm just used to it now
I remember walking on a board walk and someone said "why is she dressed so white?" That rlly confused me at that moment bc I didn't know clothes have a race attached to it.
They’re always saying to stop stereotyping black women and then they’re doing that shit.
Yes. You have two parents of color. I think she meant she did not grown up mixed with one full non black parents.

My cousin said I act like a white girl and I’m shaped like that literally yesterday, I didn’t say nothing just laughed because how do u even respond to that?! She’s one of those hood types and I wasn’t raised in the hood maybe that’s why she feels like that about me, she said it as a joke
"Those hood types" please realise that you're just black plain and simple. No matter how much you want to reject it you are black.
@@Envwhyy you're probably from the ghetto
@@Envwhyyyea black but not hood so idk why hood ppl try to force blk ppl who aren’t from it to act like something they’re not. It’s starting to seem like jealousy and insecurities because all we have to do is not act like them or be like them, dress like them and it makes them angry
loved this vid and ur Nigerian ayyy 💖💖
thank you & yess 🥳
“The car that you drive” wait a damn minute 😂😂😂😂
Honeyyy my dream car is a Jeep Wrangler . That car is usually associated with blond white girls .
I expressed to my girlfriend of a year (who is black but grew up in a predominated white neighborhood) that I thought it would be cute for our daughter to have dreadlocks .
To which she replied “No. Definitely not. Girls with dreads look like crackheads , especially the ones with long dreads”
I’m a black man and as you can see by my profile picture I have hobbies and a style of dress that could be considered “whitewashed “ but what my girlfriend said is just completely ridiculous to me .
It’s so sad that our cultire and society does not think that natural black hair is considered “beautiful”
It’s one thing to simply like a style of hair , but to disrespect your own race and your races natural hair and to call it ugly is just pitiful 🤦🏿♂️
I hate that I'm so old and this is still an issue for the new generation of teens
YEESS me too . I went to a PWI high school and a diverse college and I am still me and I don't think I ever would have been any different tbh
Take a break as often as you can to prevent burn out because we want quality not compromised plentifullness ❤ no seriously I'd rather get a video here and there than get a lot of videos that are not structured well
Thank you so much I really appreciate that ! I’ll be done school this month do definitely will be posting more often .
All and all just be you. You can't please everyone, it's impossible. As long as you love yourself regardless of what people say you'll be okay💗
Thank you for posting this. Our culture has an issue with anyone who has a mind of their own.
