My uncle was actually on this team. Bits and pieces are about him. The pregnancy and the conversation the mom has with coach Carter was based on my uncle. The phone call about losing a son was my nana talking about my dad . You can act see my family at the end when the crowd goes. In the court
I love this movie. This movie definitely inspired me to go to college and earned my degree. I graduated from college in 2012 and have no regrets. I loved the whole college experience and it was definitely hard work to get my degree, but its one of biggest accomplishments. It's a 10 out 10 for me.
If you love DMX, idk if y’all seen these yet, but exit wounds or cradle 2 the grave is one of the movies you should watch cause DMX does his thing in those movies
Coach Carter is my favourite of the saviour movies. Because unlike Dangerous Minds, Freedom Writers, and Finding Forrester Ken Carter actually grew up in the same neighborhood as the kids, went to the same school, etc. He was the shining example of everything the boys could be.
That's true, but being from Oakland, which is right next to Richmond, it always bothered me that they had the characters talking like they were from NY, that's not how we talk in the Bay Area. It made it seem less authentic.
I've lost count on how many times I've seen this movie, cause it's just so great. I love how it's a story of a man who essentially takes it upon himself to raise a group of young and undisciplined boys as if they were his own kids. Can't praise it enough.
This movie is fantastic & underrated. Something I’ll watch any time it’s on. Most people came outta this loving Channing Tatum, but I loved Rick Gonzalez (Timo Cruz).
Hey just so you guys know. This movie is based off the real Coach Carter and his second year coaching at the Richmond High School in 1999. Many of the movies events such as suspending the players for failing academically are true. They did change the names, the time period and other some aspects for drama of course. But Coach Ken Carter's core beliefs in academics coming first remained true
This is one of my favorite movies it has such a great message. I actually used this as a teaching tool in the group home I worked at. My girls were on a lockdown because of behaviors and I used this to help explain why it needed to happen and what they needed to learn from it. It was a success!!
A lot of people tend to forget the student part in student athlete. You can get injured at any time. There are plenty of actors who became actors because an injury stopped their athletic career. Gaining knowledge is literally your best bet. Like you guys said, not everyone goes pro, which is why I love the heart of most players in college basketball. Anyways, totally need you guys to react to “Miracle”
I can't believe you guys reacted to this! I really do love this movie. If you're looking for other movies based on true events with great actors as leads you should try Freedom Writers or Gridiron Gang. The first one's free on UA-cam and the other HBOMax.
My favorite part was the end when it shows what those young men went on to do with their young lives. Such an inspiration. Lowkey.. kids from "da hood" LOVE adults who give them structure & discipline.
I enjoyed watching this movie coach Carter because this movie show that education goes first before other kinds of activities in school. So Ken Carter has shown his boys that education will bring you a better life and always use knowledge to become the best of yourself. Samuel Jackson did an amazing performance of portraying Ken Carter, and it sucks that he didn’t won and received an award for it.
I'm from Peru (Latin America). I spent 11 years of school getting good grades by my own effort. Most of my classmates studied good enough to pass courses every year. Even those who liked sports the most understood they had to get good grades. I don't know why some american students think passing is something that embarrased them, and prefer to skip classes for playing the cool guy role. I believe there are people who wants to be cool and cultured at the same time, but they are afraid to be that way because of stereotypes at TV.
This is such a good movie. I grew up only about 1.5 hrs from this school in Richmond, California, but sadly I was too young to know what was going on at the time. Kinda disappointed you cut out all the house party scene haha. One of my all time favorites because of S. Jackson, and the musical score. Does not hurt it is based on a true story too.
This movie is so realistic when you come from that environment, i had a coach like coach carter growing up & to this day i don’t know what kind of man i would be if not for his influence 💯
You finally reacted to this movie. I love this movie with all my heart. It’s one of the best everyday life basketball movies of all time. Now react to Save the last dance and Light it up.
I believe Coach Carter and Remember the Titans are both great movies that need to be watched by everyone. Especially these days in order to be better people.
Great reaction as usual. There's a ton of movies I had to see over and over again when working the projection booth. This one was never annoying to check in on. So many good moments. Must have seen half of this fifty times, you guys still have new thoughts on it that never occurred to me
When it comes to powerful basketball movies with a msg, u gotta check out one called … He got game. Denzel Washington delivers an outstanding performance.
And ray Allen is present.. Lol loved that movie growing up. Saw at as an adult and never realized how uhh 'not an actor' he is lol. But Denzel carries and it's probably the most realistic movie in how talent coming from a under developed environment gets pulled in so many directions.
St. Francis had to fight for that win against Richmond!! Richmond was like, “Bro all we do all day is study, run, do push-ups, and do plays with female names!” We can run up and down this court all day! We lost but y’all know what we about!
This was a great movie that doesn't get the recognition it deserves. And I love the closing song "Hope", fantastic collaboration by Twista and Faith Evans.
I love this movie I love the way coach kept everyone including the staff accountable for their actions. And how coach taught them to have respect for themselves, by dressing in a certain way and not referring to themselves as the N word.
I’m just here to give a like and leave a comment. I’m not destroying myself mentally. This movie will bring you to tears. Watch “Lean On Me” with Morgan Freeman sometime.
Bro listening to this movie as a adult as a former basketball player hearing Samuel Jackson saying “ you owe me 1000 push-ups or you owe me 500 push-ups” I’m like wtf ?!🥴🥴 this team would be looking like the avengers by the time they’re done with their season🤣🤣🤣
Dude comes to accept that he's about to become a father and better himself, only for the girl to snuff out the life of their unborn child without telling him behind his back... and he just accepts it. Thats a relationship ender right there. No way could you ever trust such a person.
If you like Samuel L Jackson do take a look at a movie from 1996 "A time to Kill", directed by Joel Schumacher, there's Kevin Spacey, Matthew McConaughey and Sandra Bullock too. Samuel's role is just the "usual" he becomes the character.
Top soccer coaches here in the UK especially when you go back to 60's to 80's young players will have to do things like clean boots or showers, which is the same coach Carter in terms of their school work, Alex ferguson made his team wear suit and blazers.
Lovely movie! You guys are killing it! i thought of something you may think about, maybe a director showcase, do the filmography of a certain director. I always think of Clint Eastwood as a great actor, but I think his true gift is directing. Million Dollar Baby, American Sniper, Mystic River, Bridges of Madison County, etc). I actually think the same about Ben Affleck. He’s an ok actor, but I believe he excels at directing (Argo, Gone Baby Gone, The Town). Gone Baby Gone is such a gem that made me recognize him as a director, and then of course Argo. Best Picture.
the lesson isn't about forcing .. it's really helping them to see and actually find more than one way and path .. not just basketball and sports in general 🤔 😎
This movie does a great job of showing how the culture in low income areas holds kids back. The expectations and values of the people around them are horrible.
OctoKrool check out the Movie "Glory Road" it's the True Story of the 1965-66 Texas Western Miners Basketball Team and how they Beat the Kentucky Wildcats in the 1966 NCAA Basketball Championships, The Miners Coach Don Haskins only Played His Black Players in that Championship Game the First Time any University Had Done That, Don Haskins Changed Collage Basketball Forever.
Samuel L. Jackson was SNUBBED!!! He nailed this role and should've gotten the Oscar for this😭😭
Who beat him?
Samuel l Jackson is just amazing in any role he does!!
Yup.
Definitely was worthy of a nomination, and why he didn't get it is beyond me.
He's just that good
You guys really pick some good movies that other people don't cover. I love it!
Yassss
My uncle was actually on this team. Bits and pieces are about him. The pregnancy and the conversation the mom has with coach Carter was based on my uncle. The phone call about losing a son was my nana talking about my dad . You can act see my family at the end when the crowd goes. In the court

What so the dude got a attitude was your uncle…
@@Du808-o8k no. The took bits and pieces of the real story and spread it across all the characters. Just that line was based on my father
@@havonyaoliver7001 I see that Hollywood for ya. But that cool your uncle was on that team…
"What is your deepest fear?" Fav part of this is letting your own light shine unconsciously gives other people permission to do the same.

Absolutely love this movie. Such a great performance by Jackson and such a huge movie. Would love to see you guys do Hoosiers next

An often-forgotten gem. One of Samuel L.`s best performances & that`s saying something.

That's true, but being from Oakland, which is right next to Richmond, it always bothered me that they had the characters talking like they were from NY, that's not how we talk in the Bay Area. It made it seem less authentic.
It definitely isn't as good as Finding Forrester.
I forgot how good this movie is. Samuel Jackson really is a Jack of all characters
I've lost count on how many times I've seen this movie, cause it's just so great. I love how it's a story of a man who essentially takes it upon himself to raise a group of young and undisciplined boys as if they were his own kids. Can't praise it enough.
Can y’all watch “Baby Boy” next?!!
This right here⬆️
Lol they really watch all the blk movies
bruh i been trying to get them to watch this for months
I've been recommending baby boy for a year now 💙
Baby Boy is wild. 😅
This movie is fantastic & underrated. Something I’ll watch any time it’s on. Most people came outta this loving Channing Tatum, but I loved Rick Gonzalez (Timo Cruz).
I love Channing Tatum he's one of my favorite Character
Rick was my favorite in this movie too, followed closely by the dude who played Worm lol (for his comedic relief)

Instead of "Coach Carter", this should have been called "Coach Eat Me."
If you haven't seen Remember the Titans. This is the basketball version of that. This movie is a absolute delight and a movie everyone should watch.
I remember being able to always watch this movie in my English teacher class in High school
