Fun fact: Adam Sandler's mom in this movie is played by Julie Kavner, best known as the long-running role of Marge Simpson and her sisters Patti and Selma Bouvier since the Tracy Ullman shorts in 1987 to the actively-produced and record-breaking series "The Simpsons," running on Fox every Sunday night since 1989. And his dad was played by Henry Winkler, best known as the Fonz from "Happy Days", which ran from 1974 to 1985.

SPOILER: Yes this movie is extremely goofy, yes some of the jokes don't hit, but once the remote fast forwards itself, it starts turning into an emotional powerhouse. The buildup of missing sex, to missing sicknesses, to missing his dad's funeral, to seeing how he treated his dad the last time he saw him........that's where this movie REALLY shines. Very underrated when it comes to Adam Sandler's work

The scene with Michael making his dad cry and not getting a chance to say goodbye makes me cry every single time; it really hurts more after my own dad passed away four years ago. Never really thought about it till now, this is a very great piece of work for a film and a very amazing film for Adam Sandler. It shows that he can act and have a lot of heart and emotional depth. Great characters and mahor characters and minor characters all fit their role and made me realize this an incredible different spin on The Christmas Carol with Ebenezer Scrooge. He gets the universe breaking remote and meets morty similar to Ebenezer meeting his dead partner Jacob Marely. Gets to mess around with the remote and it is very similar to his dead partner's warning about the three ghosts at the arrived hour: the glimpse of the past with morty, the long and fast forwarded present time that spun out control, and finally the horrible dark and raining future into the further future with morty popping up at his deathbed and revealing that he is the angel of death very eerily similar to the ghost of Christianity future and him pointing at his own grave. And of course finally revealing that it was all future events to come via horrible awakening nightmares. Just like Ebenezer Scrooge, making him appreciate his family and every day and moment in his current life

One thing you can count on in an Adam Sandler movie: him hooking up with a woman who is way out of his league (in this case, English actress Kate Beckinsale with a convincing but disappointing American accent). Christopher Walken was an amazing actor in the 80s (The Dead Zone is terrific if you’ve never seen it), but now he hams it up a lot. If you haven’t seen it, My Girl is terrific and you guys would probably be the 3rd channel to react to it. I miss the early 90s.

Did not in any way expect this movie to make me cry, but Sandler comedies can have a way of being utterly stupid comedy, while still being an emotional journey.

This and 50 first Dates imo are his best overall movies. Uncut Gems is great but that wasnt your usual Sandler type of movie. I like how he mixes comedy w emotion here. .

Really, really recommend "Reign Over Me" (2007) starring Adam Sandler. An amazing SERIOUS film, not a comedy.
Swear to God, you guys are funny, but what really made me subscribe is the philosophy you two spout. Your heads are on straight. Your mom must be SO proud. Yeah, the insights you two come up with is what keeps bringing me back.
