My buddy scanned it and told me it was probably my IPR valve in my 2000 7.3 No one has been in the plastic fuel tank messing with the pump ( I've had it for 20 yrs - 310 K miles). Think the pump has just finally wore out? Thank you for the short, concise video. I wish more people would follow your lead.
I’ve been dealing with my truck having sluggish power and taking it a few minutes to “clear up” as I would say. This really might be my problem. Thanks for the video. I was about to buy injectors !!!!
Good luck, I have seen people replace lots of parts before finally figuring this out, I always check fuel pressure before doing a full set of injectors too
I’m having the same exact issue rn! My truck all the sudden feels like it lacks power under load driving at higher speeds but no load and in park it revs up fine
Hey another question what size fitting did u use to adapt to the fuel bowl? I bought a kit from harbor freight but it didn’t come with right size fitting lol. Thx
When under load while you was pulling up the hill, did the truck ever cut out or drop rpm’s when you was slightly accelerating? Sorta like a cut out, or mis?
I have a 2002 F250 with the 7.3 and what has been happening is when I get a little below 1/2 tank of fuel it starts running rough and has a lack of power, top off the tank and it runs fine.
Hey there, the port is on the back of the fuel bowl it would be facing the fire wall, it is an npt fitting, you can use any gauge that does 0-70psi really
My truck is doing a similar thing but when it step on gas wont go buy baby the pedal it will drive good once I step on it. It loose power need some help trouble shooting this on my truck
@@bradgdiesel3243I’m having this same issue and can’t determine why. No codes, cyl 8 contribution code. Runs super rough at idle and low rpm, clears up at high rpm. New cyl 8 injector, injector harnesses, ICP and IPR readings seemed fine. I’m stuck.

No worries my friend glad this helped
Brooooo I think you just fixed my damm truck 🙏🏼

check your backpressure tube. id thats clogged or has a hole in it . the truck will run but lack of power
And if left unchecked will wipe out a low mileage transmission. Found that out the hard way.
Hey man really nice video. short and succinct and full of good information!
Thank you

U find a fix to urs
Mine is doing that
And puffs smoke too
Mines struggles to pass 50 mph goes away when i empty the fuel filter diesel but it only does it sometimes any tips? Thanks

How’d you mount ur fuel pressure gauge without pinching it in the hood?
Just close it until the safety latch clicks don’t close it all the way
When under load while you was pulling up the hill, did the truck ever cut out or drop rpm’s when you was slightly accelerating? Sorta like a cut out, or mis?
Yes especially if I was able to keep going further
Sounds like turbo surge maybe?
I have a 2002 F250 with the 7.3 and what has been happening is when I get a little below 1/2 tank of fuel it starts running rough and has a lack of power, top off the tank and it runs fine.
Sounds like possibly an issue with your pick up tube, u would also make sure your tank breather isn’t plugged
Thanks for the video what's the normal fuel pressure?
Ford says anything above 42 psi is good, I usually like to see at least 50 tho, otherwise there is a restriction or pump is getting weak
@@bradgdiesel3243 thanks for the info
damm evensounds better and you can hear the turbo.
Where is the port for hooking up the pressure Gage and what gauge do you recommend an fittings

Hey my truck has the same problem but it will only go 15 and really starve on fuel on my 200 f350 7.3
I'll give u my number can u help
Wht if i have a manual transmission.... On fifth gear wont pass 60 changed air amd fuel filter on the engine side.
You the man bro tnx so much
Where did you check the low pressure and high
Backside of fuel bowl there’s a plug you take out
Seems universal, but was this an idi or power stroke?
It's a Powerstroke, model year 2001.
My truck is doing a similar thing but when it step on gas wont go buy baby the pedal it will drive good once I step on it. It loose power need some help trouble shooting this on my truck
This is most likely your issue
Mine does the opposite. Runs sluggish until I go full throttle then it clears up and you can immediately feels the boost hit
Plugged injectors? Sticking injectors?
@@bradgdiesel3243I’m having this same issue and can’t determine why. No codes, cyl 8 contribution code. Runs super rough at idle and low rpm, clears up at high rpm. New cyl 8 injector, injector harnesses, ICP and IPR readings seemed fine. I’m stuck.
@@guinnproductions8477 I would change the oil and add some ,arch oil diesel additive if the injectors are sticking that will fix it.
Did u ever figure out the issue? Mines doing the same thing
@@genoceprelli7221 8 injectors later and she fires up and idles great. No further issues
My 2003 e450 is doing this right now.
JUST rebuilt the turbo, its not a boost leak. I know it's a fuel issue.
What scanner do you recommend for diesel?
Honestly I use the snap on Solus, but for the price auto enginuity for the Laptop with the enhancements are the best
What did you change? Thanks
I ended up replacing the fuel tank, fuel pump and the filter
