LOGGING/ RIGGING One of the hardest jobs in the world??? MOTIVATIONAL WORK ETHIC.

  • If this video doesn't make you want to go logging, nothing will. Logging is hands down one of the most physically demanding jobs in the world yet almost anyone who has done it will only tell you about how much they loved it.
I made this video with the goal in mind to highlight the work ethic of the guys who do this job and specifically the guys in the rigging. This was one of my favorite videos to make. I cant make up my mind on whether the motivational speech in the background of this video was a good addition or not so I would love to hear your opinion in the comments. If you have any other video suggestions for the future let me know and I will try to make it happen.

I’ve always been the small kid, but I have applied this to everything at life even down to walking out at the end of the day when my legs feel like their gonna give in I look ahead and set a goal to make it to a certain point. I then put my head down and push forward till I reach that point and when I do... I don’t stop their I go till I drop. Love this video and the work I do, stay safe everyone

Hell yeah I hear that loud and clear man. I mostly run skidder nowadays and chase landing also, help set chokers now and again as needed. There simply ain't nothing else that compares to logging from my experience. It's a unique combination of hard ass work, adrenaline, fun, troubleshooting, and adventure you simply will not get in other types of work.

  • @robertlount5747

Well made video and somehow the glory it represents doesn't include the joy of say, 4 empty trucks, none short loggers and roughly 3 loads of shorties + 2 26'10"'s on all landings combined... Heh, hoot owl, 2 guys pulling sides and a hooktender, all neglect to pick up Copenhagen and are out by 10:30: Wow. I never felt like that motivational track was playing in my head in the rigging, I just like games like 'feed the machines'. In my head was a lot of breathing noise, quick remembrances (left before right for true bight, see sharp or be flat, leaves of three leave me be), and something to BS about every 5 min or so when meeting ones partner at the rigging (sports and lies about making time w/ women iirc). Thank you for the tight production, good luck in whatever comes yer way and be easy.

I don't come from a logging family or background, but I've made my home in the Pacific Northwest and I'd really like to know more about the industry that is so central to the region's economy, culture, and identity. This video doesn't give me a lot of concrete information -- there's absolutely no description of what's going on or why it's so damn hard --but it does give me a lot of insight into the mindset.

Drive an old logging road in the Cascade Mountain range. Go to the edge and look down at the slope. Perhaps it's a 45 degree slope, the rise being equal to the run. Think about walking down there. Think about running down there. Now think of the trees all fallen and the limbs removed, the limbs being everywhere that you would walk. Now think of slinging the rigging under and around the log, logs, quickly, and then getting out of the way as fast as you can as others are waiting for you. All of this in the nonstop rain or the muggy forest heat exposed to the intense summer sun. Hard and dangerous work it is.

I mean a hook tender should be the most experienced person on the job but if you mean that you are going to be a choker setter then just work like crazy, keep your head on a swivel and show up for work on time.
