So a couple of points. Drummer is will hunt, evanescence and black label society. Why his songs are more heavy live? Well, Vasco has been going on for a couple of decades and so he had a number of transformations, getting more heavy as he got along. He also changed some of his musicians along the way, so that helped. The turning point according to Mua is the album 'liberi liberi' . Here he changed his old band and was joined by guitarist Andrea braido... A beast. Things started getting more metal after that. Reading this song, this is one of my absolute favourites .. it has the genius verse... " You who are able to keep one foot here and one foot there, you certainly have a future in this society, but where you have lost your dignity?"
The fact is that many of these songs, like "Gli spari sopra", came out in a "different era" for the italian market. An era where the hard rock was really really hard to sell, so of course he has to adapt to sell some album, but also without selling off, he still manage to keep his style. Later on, I believe early 2000s if I remember correctly, with the album "Buoni o Cattivi", the turn to a harder sound was obvious and most importantly was a sound that can sell copies now even in Italy, so that sums up why he decided to raise the bar for his songs. That, and the fact that many old fans were almost pissed when he was starting to make lyrics ballads. And of course I really thank him for this decision, since now a live event of him is truly an opera, and explaining to people why I like Vasco as good as I like Tool, probably even more, is a lot easier ❤

In 1993, when he recorded Gli Spari Sopra, he had a very different band behind, in the studio and he decided to translate this song (the original is Celebrate from a band called An Emotional Fish) and revisit it. Some years ago, he and his band decided to refresh their sound live, talking about a sort of "Metal way" giving to all the old songs a new, fresh sound. And I think it works! All the arrangements are from Vince Pastano, the guitarist and producer at his right on the stage.

This song is a cover of “Celebrate” from the band An Emotional Fish, but Vasco elevates it to anothe level. The original song says “this party’s over” and it sounds like “Gli spari sopra” hence the title of this song
If it can help: Vasco's live different versions are quite much influenced by the lineups. Through his whole carreer he's been very open minded to changes, especially with drummers and solo guitarists, so you can see people coming with new ideas, new "moods" to old tracks, and the whole concert turned veeeery sideways. "fronte del palco" tour was a big shift in many oldtime tracks, I was f*ckin 9yo, just take a look at his drummers' list and you can get a grasp of how many styles and influences were dropped in like daisy cutters. From Bad English to Madonna to Evanescence. Greatest game changers were on the guitar Andrea Braido, Stef of course (Jesus, live he's a LEGEND since Y&T), Davide Devoti at the rhythmic guit back in the days. Drums by Moffett, Aronoff, Baird, Deen OMG Castronovo literally blasted the stage. Clara Moroni, the backup singer, also took it up a couple notches with her performance. Tons of energy with her voice. Tons of work for regular guys like me playing drums in a tribute band 😅😅😅 BTW Great reaction videos man! Cheers from Rome 🤟
If you like Vasco, maybe you can try also this band: They were called Litfiba. They started as new wave rock band, but they shifted towards hard rock in albums like this one ua-cam.com/video/Wj9XKmYLEF0/v-deo.html and another called Terremoto. Vocalist is just great. They were a nice band which shifted sound alot, but made great rock for some good time. Now they got reunited but they were way better before IMO. :D Also another great band of that period, was Timoria which was more rock/grunge band.
I'm gonna explain you, Vasco always produced Rock music, and if you contextualize his music at the time is been made is always been extravagant, but unfortunately in Italy it is very hard for metal music, that's why many CD versions, or better, the radio versions are much more pop sounding. Of course over the years the metal sound in his songs took over, but if you pay attention this happens only during his concerts, where he can actually express himself. He always picked the best guitarists, you don't choose a metal guitarist for pop music!!
In this tour he changed style of many songs in more metal style 'cause his historic producer Guido Elmi that was terminally ill was a huge metalhead. So Vasco with guido decided to take Will Hunt at the drums and great arranger Vince Pastano at guitar
Vasco wanted to make sure the music arrangement fit the players he had brought along. With such a heavy drummer and a cohort of great guitarists he just decided to use them to the fullest.
Hi Angelo, it is a great pleasure that you have discovered Vasco, in Italy it is a myth that has accompanied Three generations, congratulations must also be made to the whole band, because they are really great musicians, I hope to see more reactions on Vasco, bye and see you next time
mia nonna classe 1927 lo conosceva e lo cantava a modo suo "E poi ci troveremo... Come stai? al bere del whiskey al Roxy Bar", quanto abbiamo riso da piccoli
3:30 The reason why Vasco made it heavy is because the lyrics are even heavier. "Smile. The shoots slinging above (your heads) are meant for you..." It's a harsh critique of society. I don't have time to translate it now, but it's not hard to find a good translation around.
vasco's bands and musicians have always been over-the-top, and as you noticed he's way beyond heavy rock.. BUT: what's most amazing about him is how lyrics and music are "attuned" together. I don't know if simply translating lyrics such as "gli spari sopra" or "c'è chi dice no" would be enough for a non native Italian to deeply understand and appreciate how they are really one thing with the music..anyway I would be glad to help you "interpreting" rather than translating those words! oh by the way..wanna hear a really hard version of "c'è chi dice no"? go for the "rewind tour" live in imola (early '00s)
My opinion about the double version of his songs (pop and metal) is that metal isn't and will never be mainstream in Italy. Italy has a huge tradition of mellow love songs, or just light pop songs, maybe It comes from our classical music roots (we call ourself the nation of "bel canto" "nice singing") or because of our romantic/cheerful attitude (we aren't and we will never be "negative" or heavy like let's say germans or nordic people), we are the country of the sun, the sea and good food. Even during contemporary era the heaviest singers go the less people listen to their music, the less producers are interested in them. I Guess Vasco knows It really well and he produces his music to sound rock pop radio friendly as possible, but during concerts It's clear that he lets his musicians go wild. But you can be sure that most of the audience you see in the stadium would never go to a metal concert. Think about Maneskin, they are cool and rock af right now, if they follow the path of every rock musician in Italy they will soon mellow out for a more radio friendly music to gain more fans because this is the kind of pressure musicians have in Italy from producers. I saw It happening too many times. They maybe have a chance if they leave Italy and try to become truly international, keeping their rock identity.
Hi Ang I love Vasco but for the record this song is a cover of CELEBRATE "An emotional fish" then he genius made him a beautiful and powerful text like the music that accompanies it😀
You cannot understand who is Vasco if you don’t listen “siamo solo noi” (just us) any live version. Is exactly the manifesto of the damned and noncomformist way of live of Vasco, and it has been voted by Rolling Stones magazine as best italian rock song ever. It was a generational anthem in ‘80, our “smells like teen spirits” or the Who “my generation”. Better the 1990 version when he was young and the real Vasco ua-cam.com/video/fd05-j9W8fA/v-deo.html
My mom has been a fan of Vasco since he started, she used to sing me “La favola Antica” when I was little to put me to sleep. If you ever get a chance to listen to it and read the translation, please do it. It’s more like a story, than a rock song, but I think you would like the lyrics!
Fun fact: Vasco Rossi has participated twice in the Sanremo Festival (the festival won by the Maneskin that allowed them to go to the Eurovision Song Contest). He ranked last and second-last.
You should listen "Ieri ho sgozzato mio figlio" and "Ad ogni costo" which is a cover of Creep - radiohead and of course the Metallica concert in Italy where they played a Vasco song: ua-cam.com/video/_KRwGnm0Zqg/v-deo.html
He does more "metal" versions of his songs live because his musicians are more from that world. He chooses always great professional session musicians!

I went to the concert in Bologna a few days ago. I am 51yo and I have been loving Vasco since 1983. I took my 17yo daughter with me and she loved it
Next year in may 2022 in Trentino(North region of Italy) Will be a very big event , a concert with more than 80.000 of Vasco's fans , you must come here and go to see !
Lyrics
If you are comfortable, you are fine
If others live for nothing because you are the smart ones
You will see that this place, this place "is beautiful"
If you are hypocritical, skilled, you are never guilty
If you are never with the weak and have good stomachs
Smile, the shots above are for us
Smile, the shots above are for us
And it has always been easy to do injustice
Take, manipulate and make believe
But now be more careful, because everything is written
And if the armies turn and the heroes disappear
If the war then now, we begin to make it ourselves
Don't smile, the shots above are for you
Don't smile, the shots above are for you
You are able to always keep one foot here and one there
You will have a certain future in this world here
But dignity, where you have lost it?
And if to survive any filth
Let it happen and say it's not my fault
Smile, the shots above are for us
Smile, the shots above are for us
Smile, the shots above are for (us)
Vasco arriva diretto perché i testi delle sue canzoni sono poesie di vita quotidiana ,senza fronzoli un genio ti consiglio di leggere i suoi testi un poeta
It's nice to see someone who likes Vasco in America too .. Thanks! I recommend "Il mondo che vorrei live Bologna 2008"... I like your video, keep it up!! 🤟🏻🎸
Also another great band of that period, was Timoria which was more rock/grunge band.
He did that because his soul is soooo vast!!!! Heavy soft smooth strong... he embraces it all!!
Big love there. ❤️
Hallo,
You know "il ballo della vita"?
Is a Legend Song to Maneskin!
Please please 💞
React to video Milano Fabbrica 2018
Thanks! 👍
Grazie:Baci da Italia💋
Quanti boccaloni!!! How many big mouth fish!!!
vasco's bands and musicians have always been over-the-top, and as you noticed he's way beyond heavy rock..
I answer to one of your q: he just decided to rearrange heavy as fuck many of his songs for that tour :-)
If you interested Italian rock listen Luciano Ligabue certe notti, non è tempo per noi and other song.
Ligabue is the rockers like Vasco . I’m italian
Mad Ang dovresti tradurre il testo di questa canzone, perché la carica della musica con il testo è perfetta.
I love i see all your reaction, saluti from italy
Lírics gli spari sopra

Vince Pastano Made him more rock with his arrangements. He’s a genius.
Your right Vasco survived through decades because he adapted his songs to his audience throughout generations
Ahhhh finally!!! Thanks!!! ❤❤❤
The music I by an Irish group, Vasco changed the words
Hi Ang I love Vasco but for the record this song is a cover of CELEBRATE "An emotional fish" then he genius made him a beautiful and powerful text like the music that accompanies it😀
Please, after Vasco consider to listen to Litfiba. "El Diablo" is their most iconic song!
This song is about Sarajevo and the War. It's a cover, but the message is against violence, indifference, selfishness and hypocricy.
Il testo però è completamente riscritto...
React Vasco Rossi - Colpa d'Alfredo Live Modena park 🤯
Big Mad, do you want to see that you too will become a Vasco Rossi fan? indeed ....... I bet you already are !!!😎🤟🏻
A hug bro🤗
You cannot understand who is Vasco if you don’t listen “siamo solo noi” (just us) any live version. Is exactly the manifesto of the damned and noncomformist way of live of Vasco, and it has been voted by Rolling Stones magazine as best italian rock song ever. It was a generational anthem in ‘80, our “smells like teen spirits” or the Who “my generation”. Better the 1990 version when he was young and the real Vasco ua-cam.com/video/fd05-j9W8fA/v-deo.html
If you want to cry listen "Liberi Liberi"
next year, covid permitting, come and see a concert you won't regret it
The bass player is the same of the beginnings. And he is good.
My mom has been a fan of Vasco since he started, she used to sing me “La favola Antica” when I was little to put me to sleep.
If you ever get a chance to listen to it and read the translation, please do it. It’s more like a story, than a rock song, but I think you would like the lyrics!
Can you react to “come stai” by vasco rossi, please?😍
ua-cam.com/video/-f8JI9R5Suo/v-deo.html this is the original song.
Thanks, man! I am really enjoying your reactions. You should listen Dillo alla Luna Live 1993, you won't regret it!
Oddio, ma la sono riascoltata in loop qualche giorno fa, una delle mie preferite
However, this Is a rielaborate version of An Emotional Fish - Celebrate
Some Shit..some beauty full. This is V asco
Fun fact: Vasco Rossi has participated twice in the Sanremo Festival (the festival won by the Maneskin that allowed them to go to the Eurovision Song Contest). He ranked last and second-last.
Vince Pastano, Vasco second guitar is the musician who rearranges old pieces giving them a more modern, more hard rock key. Style Rock man🤘🤘🤘
Metal Vasco...daje
Yessss
Grande komandante 🤟🤟
You should listen
"Ieri ho sgozzato mio figlio" and "Ad ogni costo" which is a cover of Creep - radiohead
and of course the Metallica concert in Italy where they played a Vasco song:
ua-cam.com/video/_KRwGnm0Zqg/v-deo.html
No, per favore, la cover di Creep è sinceramente qualcosa di imbarazzante.
He should be ashamed of the cover of creep, is cringy as fuck and embarassing.
Ciao, i suggest the song "liberi liberi" from Vasco, always in this concert, great react !! PS search lyrics in Eng. is really deep
Listen Litfiba, live album “Pirata”
He does more "metal" versions of his songs live because his musicians are more from that world. He chooses always great professional session musicians!
Vasco va studiato a scuola come poeta contemporaneo
I remind u to listen “Vasco Rossi Dillo alla Luna Live”
You are ready for Vasco concert in Italy
