How Could They ABANDON This Retro 1970's Dream Home?! | COMPLETELY STUCK IN TIME

- In this episode of Urban Exploring, we will be taking you for a tour through this once beautiful, but now forgotten split level home that was built in 1979; and now has been abandoned for a couple of years. Located in a busy city, on a very large property, this location would be considered prime real estate and has since been sold for land value to have the property redeveloped. Inside, the house retains all of its 1970's charm, with huge fireplaces, a retro bar, and retro tile selection throughout the house. Outside, this house once had a beautiful multi-level deck, as well as a large inground pool, which unfortunately were all recently removed. Join Katie and I for a step back in time as we visit this 1970's relic that surely has little time left!

Was a sensational beaut in it's day I say and very nearly original but it shows its wear in places.
Another one bites the dust and it looks like the lawn packed up and left the weeds behind years ago.
Thanks for the tour you two!
👍🤠
Notes:
7:31 I like to think the builder could've found a higher place to mount a built in oven, actually before you mentioned oven, I thought it was a dishwasher.
19:26 I notice the space behind the stove is too small and intended for a smaller apartment type stove, that's why the full size is out.
19:42 Under the front porch. These make good bomb/storm shelters when there's no window.
I agree with you it was definitely sensational it's time, definitely looking a little tired but definitely wouldn't take much to bring new life to this place. But sadly it's always about the mighty dollar and this place will just be gone. Thanks for being at the premiere as always we both appreciate you watching John!! I'll pin this comment for everybody to enjoy
Love this house! Sad it will be torn down! Awesome video bro! ❤️👍🤘
Hey Carla, thank you for watching this one I'm really happy to hear that you enjoyed it. It's always sad when a good place like this will be torn down. Thank you again I always appreciate hearing from you
This place is super close in style to many of the older Italian immigrant homes here in Australia, Greg. The tiles, parquetry floors and marble and even that gorgeous blue and yellow lamp shade is quite lovely indeed. This place would fit easily into the inner eastern suburbs of Adelaide (where many Italian migrants came in the 60s and 70s) 😍. Thank you for an awesome vid and G'day to you, Katie and Ethan 🇦🇺 🇨🇦
That bar top was lovely, too. Chookas 🥂 🍻
Hey Drew! This place just has that Italian type Vibe doesn't it? I think it's cool that it would fit in Adelaide so easily, I did not realize that there were so many Italians there!! Thank you for watching man I really appreciate it
Another cool place Greg and its good to see Katie interacting with you a awesome team. Shame the brown bomber hasnt been to this place, but I a big lover of all those cool tiles yes very retro mate. A big hello to Katie and Ethan mate cheers buddy.
Hey Werner! Thanks so much for checking this one out man I always appreciate it when you do. I'll make sure to let Katie know that you enjoy that, she's been fun to do videos with
@@UncappedFilms you two make a awesome team brother
I've never been a fan of split levels but I adore the layout of this one. The use of brick and wood throughout and especially of the fire places give it such a unique look and it was full of surprises. Thanks for sharing! Take care! xxx Kat
Hey Kat! You know it's kind of funny I'm growing on these split level places every time I see one. Some of them are absolutely huge. This one in particular was very cool. Thank you for watching this one and commenting I really appreciate it!
Uncapped!!
I absolutely loved this home! Loved all of those levels too😮
The hot tub room was really cool!
Sad I had to miss the premiere, due to work😢
Was so nice to see Katie too!!! Keep on rockin' the great videos! 🤘🦅
Hey SMIPA!! Glad you still saw this, thats all that matters, we know you'll be at the next one if you can! I am glad you loved the place and I'm glad you enjoy Katie being in the video with me! Thanks again, see you soon!
I love it when the house is from the 70s
Hey rafaelina! It's a very good era isn't it? '70s and '80s homes have some very cool characteristics to them. Thank you again for another comment I really appreciate!!
Cool house such a shame its going to be knocked down so many beautiful features love the flooring and all the woodwork and really cool basement looking forward to your next one well done both 😘
Hey Glenys!! Thank you so much I'm glad you enjoyed this place, I really had a bunch of cool features. I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed it so much!
@UncappedFilms I allways enjoy your finds and love Katie with you have a wonderful weekend 😘
@glenyshanlon5112 thanks you too
Such a cool house. So sad they will demolish it. Looks like it was well built & I love the archways.
Hey Trina! I totally agree, this house has character and really would be easy to update if you wanted to. They don't make them like this anymore!! Thanks so much for watching and commenting, I hope you'll check out some more of my stuff!
Hi 👋 such a lovely house, shame going to be demolished. Great video ❤ uk x
Hey fruity pie. Thank you so much for checking out the video, I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed the place. I find it a shame that it will be demolished as well. Thank you so much for watching and I hope you'll check out some more of my videos!
That color in the bathroom was mauvelous.Beatiful house and land.
Hey Donna! You know I didn't even notice the color I'll have to go back and watch. Lol. I'm really happy to hear you enjoyed the house, thanks as always
Thanks!
thank you so much Karen!!
until i saw the bobcat I thought maybe Florida but perhaps now i'm thinking Michigan, that sandy backyard looks like where I grew up
Hey Travis. This is actually in Ontario Canada. I'm not sure if this is a naturally Sandy lot or if they filled it in with sand because there used to be a pool. Where did you grow up? Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment, I hope you'll be back for more
@@UncappedFilms I grew up in the Northern lower peninsula but closer to Lake Michigan and something I figured out at quite a young age is that Michigan's western side and beaches are all sand and lots of it. The sleeping Bear Dunes for instance. Wisconsin's east coast is all rocks as is Lake Huron on the Michigan side. Westerly winds seem to favor Michigan on the west which is why the beaches are so amazing there and can often times look like Cape Cod or other Atlantic coastal towns. I live in East Tennessee now where its all clay. Love what you do man and I will keep my eye out for more vids.
very cool 70's house!
Hey Jordan! Very cool indeed my brother. It was a fun one to do. Thanks for checking it out man
This tour was definitely worth my time, so retro, so much to see , so easy to get lost :) How do I get to my bedroom again LOL...need a floorplan. Jacuzzi/sauna, oh my!! And a special shoutout to Katie.... loving the shiny hair...whatever you are using on it , continue with that:)
Hey Adrianne, thank you for checking out this video! I'm really glad you enjoyed it and that it was worth your time, that means a lot to me! These split level homes can get so confusing to maneuver through, especially when they have different levels of basements... Katie loved this comment about her hair btw, I just wanted you to know.. I don't know what she does, but her hair is stunning!! thanks again!
@@UncappedFilms This was only the second video by you that I have watched and since you were kind enough to reply so nicely, I am now going to subscribe. Keep up the good work.
Haha just discovered I have watched 3 of your videos. I stand , well, sit ,corrected.

@@TommyAlanRaines bada bing!
yes sir! this one is from 1979
Great house. Had some pretty awesome features. Loved the brick fireplace. And wood stove feature, as well! Greg, let Katie know she has the prettiest, shiniest hair. It's beautiful!! Greg, who the hell told you we like to see the bombs in the toilet? It's pretty disgusting when you're eating a Marie Callenders pot pie. Lol yuk. Great video. Thanks for sharing. First time meeting Katie. I somehow keep getting unsubscribed from your channel? So, I think I'm missing videos! 😞
@@SilentStorm1031
Darn, I'm horribly sorry, I'm one of the whos and Marie Callender's is real good stuff as is the Rolling Stones.
👍😉
Amazing house I would buy it. It has everything I want. Too bad they are tearing it down
Hey Carla! It is an amazing place, I'm glad that you enjoyed it. It is a big shame that it will be gone one day. It would have been amazing to see it with the pool in the backyard. Thank you for watching and commenting and I hope I hear from you again
If that house.
Were mine I'd fix what needs fixing and living it just as it is.❤
Hey Aztec! That I can get on board with, some places just don't need too much and their character and charm should remain intact. I'm glad you enjoyed this house, thank you so much for watching and commenting!!
@@UncappedFilms you're welcome 🙂🇺🇲
Nice house I can relate to it since I was born in the 1950's
Hey Jenny! Thank you for watching and commenting, I'm glad that you enjoyed this place. It's always nice to see something that can remind you of the past right? Thanks again
16:09 - that timer switch would be for the exhaust fan. My parents are now in a manufactured home, a "double-wide" from 1987. Both bathrooms have timer switches for the exhaust fans. It's a great idea. What an amazing house. With so many levels I was getting confused. I loved the hidden door in the closet to get to a secret room, and then you have access to the garage. That was so cool. I can't understand that house being abandoned, and I can't understand why it would get demolished.
Hey Miller meteor! You know I was looking for a fan in that bathroom too and I didn't notice one, perhaps I did a lazy renovation and left the switch on the wall. Sounds like your parents have a great place. The layout of these homes can get confusing with the split levels. The hidden room to the garage was very cool. The only reason this is abandoned is for money, somebody can buy it and build five homes on the same property. Thank you so much for watching and commenting I really appreciate it
If u look up in that bathroom the timer is for a heat lamp
Hey dollie! I thought it was or for a fan, neither were up there. Thanks for watching and commenting! I hope to hear from you again
LIKE, SHARE AND SUBSCRIBE! Another awesome explore. I would have loved to see this house up and running with all the decks and yard in place. That's a nice size flat lot and great for building a new home. Thanks for showing all the neat details...
Hey GJ!! Glad you saw this one, thanks for always pumping my channel up. This was a really cool place and I wish I saw it with the backyard still set up. I think it would have been cool, and I heard the pool it was huge. Thanks so much for being there every week!
@@UncappedFilms You're welcome.
This one was funky cool. Loved the windows above the kitchen area. It was also one of those that had more space than it looked. Always awesome explores, Greg. Keep Orange Crushing It!
Hey tommy!! I agree this was a pretty cool spot with a bunch of cool features. I had a hunch you would enjoy this one. Thank you so much sir!!
Kitchen faucets are gone. Katie, your hair is so pretty and it really shines. Please stop lifting up the toilet lid. With Katie walking in front of you, it gives you an idea the size of the rooms.
Hey bluerose! Sadly some people really like the toilet checking lol. So I try to do as complete of an explore as I can haha. But yes you're right she does give some perspective on the size of these places, changes how the video goes a little bit. Thank you so much for watching and commenting
@@UncappedFilms Okay, I just don't like the toilet lid lifting, I just don't look.
@Bluerose888 haha fair enough. I appreciate you!
Guys ALWAYS have to look in the Toilet!!!! It's a thing with them, I guess. And the interior of this house is NOT MUCH!!!! The Light Fixtures, BUTT UGLY!!!! The main thing I liked were the Shoe Holders in the Closet. That was pretty COOL!!!!
Haha Liberty! Thanks for the laugh. Guys will be guys, but as an explorer we must also see everything!! Thanks so much for the great comment and the laugh, I hope you watch more of my videos
Haha love it when there’s no brown bomber Greg!! Cool explore as always! 😊😊😊
Hey Robin! Believe it or not some people are disappointed when the brown bomber doesn't appear. I'm really glad you enjoyed this one, thank you so much for watching it, I truly appreciate you
Love this house! So retro! That red light in the basement was so cool! The fireplaces where so nice and I love all those big windows! Amazing explore Greg, thanks for sharing!🧡🏚🏘 PS, how was your weather yesterday. We had 6 tornados touchdown here in NY state.
NM has been 🔥. Hope everyone made it through the craziness of tornadoes. Thank goodness we only get dust devils. Lol
Hey Kimberly!! This place was very retro and I love the fact that all the character was still there basically. The fireplaces were some of the most amazing I've ever seen. Thank you so much for taking the time to watch I really appreciate it, I hope that you're safe after those tornadoes that's very scary.
@@SilentStorm1031 Hope you cool off soon. We get the heat also but rarely tornados. Very scary stuff! Blessings to you and yours.🙂
@Hinchmankimberly0829 it's been warm but it hasn't been torture thank God. Tornado is a scary though so I'm glad to see that you're safe!
@@UncappedFilms Thanks so much! I am just across the big pond so I am surprised you didn't get something. I am happy you didn't.
This was a cool house. Of course you know I like all that woodwork. All of the light fixtures in the house were cool! Nice fireplace and awesome basement. Awesome explore brother!

The 1970s they could have simple grown old and died. Especially if they were in their late to mid 30s when they moved in.
Very true. Good point Thomas

Only if they could!
12:44 I need that closet

what happened to Ethan? did he step in the wrong spot, and fall into the backrooms? 😆
that lamp that you pointed out in the upper hallway at 10:05 is Very 1970's 😀😍
o,k later in the vid ,see Ethan was back again 😀
