After contacting some 30 dealers, we put a deposit down in early July on an identical silver/black Tucson Hybrid Limited but shipping is now delayed to early September (maybe) with no VIN or production date even yet available. I really hope more and more people start recognizing Hyundai/Kia as a quality and reliable car. Where as many have a false belief that Toyota is quality and reliable, those times are gone (except for their trucks). It’s mostly now just a stigma that Toyota has on their side, a deceptive company no less, ever since their 07-10 major lawsuits.
Resale value and sale numbers always show demand and reliability. Hyandai and Kia still far behind Toyota and Honda especially resale value. Long term reliability still not as good as Toyota and Honda (ignore initial reliability ratings). A couple of my family members had Tucsons both with drive train issues. Another consideration with Hyandai/Kia is poor dealership experience/service which is important to customers.
agree that kia and hyundai are reliable, but that doesn’t mean you need to say toyota is not reliable. Toyotas are still very reliable. My uncle has a rav4 from 3years ago, and he hasn’t need to fix anything except regular maintenance.
Toyota has a better reputation for reliability, though not all their cars are as reliable anymore. Hyundai/Kia are more reliable today imo. The quality of Toyota cars are low compared to a lot of manufacturers now esp Hyundai/Kia.
I bought this Tucson Hybrid Limited model. Although I like it, it's simply not Toyota reliable. The warranty is meaningless if you have to continually waste time taking the car to the dealer for problems they can't figure out. I'm not bashing Hyundai, I like their technology and designs. I just think they value new tech over quality control. It's my first Hyundai and unless Hyundai can address my engine issue fast, it's likely my last. A 10 year warranty sounds great in conversation, unfortunately it doesn't translate into reliability. All that said, the new Tucson Hybrid is significantly nicer on Day 1 over the Rav4 & CR-V. Day 100, I'm not so sure.
What an amazing & POSITIVE review!!! Best one yet : ) I got my Tucson LIMITED Hybrid a 6 weeks ago and i also can not find even ONE thing wrong with it! (Welllllllll, ok, maybe that the mirrors don't fold automatically... i THOUGHT they came with it because i confused terminology, "power FOLDING with simply POWER" so i was a tad disappointed when they did NOT fold in :( BUT other than THAT, my Tuscon (i bought black : ) continues to impress me every single day : ) You did a great job touching on every SINGLE feature (but you left out its BEST one (i think) the Blind Spot CAMERAS! i so enjoyed your review on this great car, love ALL your reviews actually : ) BTC
I have to say, under the luxury CSUV class, this is the SUV to get. The tech inside actually outdoes some of the entry level luxury CSUVs. I also dig the new look, it is probably the most attractive in its class.

The worst thing about this car? The position of the rear turn signals. Such beautiful and distinctive (and huge!) taillights, but they couldn’t integrate the turn signals? Putting them in the bumper is not only lazy and unattractive but also dangerous as cars closely behind you (say, at a red light or in traffic) can’t even see them! Everyone is going to look at your huge taillights then wonder this jackass didn’t signal. What a stupid design on an otherwise amazing car. And this is not unique to the Tucson… many Hyundai and KIA SUVs have the same problem.
@@James-il3tq the dealer experience can be overlooked easily Hyundai could have the poorest dealer experience but still produce better quality and better put together vehicles than Toyota

I would recommend the hybrid especially if you live at a higher elevation. I test drove the base engine and it feels underpowered and weak, as well as hiccuping when you idle at stop lights, which was definitely a red flag.
More car comp needs this style of infosystem. What I mean is where it sits. I really dislike the ipad style. Maybe it's just the ocd trait in me lol. But this style just super clean looking. Edit: I've been meaning to ask if there's glare on speedometer area cause no good.
I hear you there, The Hyundai Tucson also makes Honda CRV look ancient! I tested both vehicles and actually owned a CRV 10yrs ago, and still no updated changes that make me swoon! And for Hyundai to back up their powerful warranty on a Hybrid?! Hyundai wins again!!
This is crazy. I've played (and refereed) on that soccer field. Didn't realize I lived in the same region as you. A number of your test drives are on my local roads. Another great review of another great Hyundai product. Wish these Tucson Hybrid Limited's were actually available to buy.
I just traded in my '19 Acura RDX AWD for this + $2,000 cash refund! I was pleasantly shocked at the handling and acceleration. The RDX SH-AWD gives the Acura the advantage but I felt the off the line Acceleration felt faster as the Acura has a lot of turbo lag. The big decision for me was the MPG I was getting 17MPG City in the RDX (listed as 22MPG), while the Tucson I'm getting 35MPG.
Imagine if they gave this true N lime treatment. But paired the hybrid system You get the power (likely would be around 300HP) and good fuel efficiency.
If only people could get their hands on them. I ordered one and was told 60-90 days. That window expired and the dealer can't even tell me if the factory has STARTED building the car, let alone when it will arrive! It could be next month or it could be next year...
The dealer I visited doesn't have hybrid demos, so I test drove a non-hybrid version with the lacklustre engine. I didn't hear any appreciable road noise (on the highway) from the driver seat, but when I moved to the back seat while my wife drove, there was a noticeable increase in road noise. The sales rep told me that the hybrid version, which I must factory order without being able to test drive, has a quieter engine with more sound insulation overall. I'd like to confirm this from another source (besides the dealership).

@@edmondlau511 It did. No regrets so far. It's not as good on gas on the highway as I was hoping. However, we mostly drive in the city and I can go about 33-35 days on one tank of gas, which is great given the price of has. It's $1.89/L here (no gas tax right now due to government initiative to help consumers). It's very quiet, so much so that we've exited a few times without turning off the car. It's a comfortable ride, and maneuvers well. I'm getting used to not having a stick gear changer, as I always rested my arm on that in my old car, and there's no comfortable place to rest your arm on the right side. I had a 2018 Tucson SEL and we loved it. Never had an issues with it. The only thing I didn't like was that it didn't have an automatic lifegate. Very low maintenance. We are thinking of getting the 2022 Hybrid model now. One thing I don't like about Hyundai is their features in the car are all over the place. It was weird we had heated seats but had to manually open the trunk with our hands. Also weird that in this model, there wasn't wireless CarPlay. That was weird to me.

I live in Central Europe and am excited to have bought a used low-mileage 2022 Hyundai Tucson 1.6 t-GDI Hybrid Shine yesterday. It's definitely time to upgrade from my 2010 Toyota Prius (which I've had for nearly 6 years) and have more tech features, comfort and height. It's not too wide/long to cause problems parking in Europe's itty bitty parking spaces and, with the price of petrol being so high, it'll be economical to take on multi-country road trips.
I know this is Crazy, but I am debating between the '22 Tucson Hybrid or a nearly base '22 Genesis GV70. What do you think??? The limited Tucson color choices (both in and out) are disappointing.
Thoughts on the reported very loud noise when the hybrid is put into reverse (for pedestrian alert)? I have read many people having buyer's remorse because of how loud that sound is and others walking away from the car because of it.

I just purchased the very limited stock Plug in version SEL trim. WoW! This car is amazing. Please do review of it when you have a review vehicle to test. Only down side is SELn didn't come with moonroof not the power liftgate feature. But I bought it mainly for the 33EPG aspect of it. Just have a couple of days. I have yet to test it for its full capability of EPG rage.
The wife and I looked at one this week. It was a great car and packed with features however I still am not solid on Hyundai’s reliability and asking 43k is ridiculous.
Especially on a turbocharged new hybrid design by Hyandai. I'd wait a few years to see how long term reliability is on these (and resale value). For a hybrid I'd rather go with Toyota that has been making and perfecting them for 21 years with a long record of them being bulletproof.
I've always loved the look of the Tucson way back when it first came out and it gets better every year! I did however order the Maverick Hybrid because I need the flexibility of a bed. I hope this Tucson is a huge success for Hyundai
Have you driven the new Haval H6. Tech and features still miles ahead of the rest. Most of all incredible value for money. Haval is setting the pace and the rest just trying to keep up
I noticed the same thing but something I've learned is that elevation matters quite a bit. It seems the folks in higher elevations report slower times than sea level. I've also learned that as testers don't use sport mode or don't try to eek out every second possible. Some don't do it on straightaways, testing equipment can vary, etc. I saw similar things with the Santa Fe with the 2.5 turbo. I've seen times that range from 7+ seconds down to nearly 6 seconds flat. After doing a ton of research, I've kinda decided to use ranges (0-60 in xx to xx seconds depending) since there isn't a consistent number for any car afaik.

@@James-il3tq Kia Hyundai Genesis could have the worst dealer experience and still produce better quality and better put together vehicles
This is such a smooth ride. Just got this today. So happy.
Is it still riding smooth? I’m sooo on the fence about getting one now. I was going to order a Hybrid limited until I came upon the Tucson forum and there are a lot of ppl complaining about a jerky experience with the transmission. Especially when going up hill. So many ppl are saying that they are having issues after a month or so, even a couple of weeks. Smh. I wanted to get this car sooo bad but now I’m highly 2nd guessing it.
Nice review! Already have started seeing these on the road!
Hyundai is absolutely on a roll this is no exception. I would absolutely drive this.
Couldn't agree more. Actually a deterrent for me buying this car vs others as lame as that is. I hope the santa cruz isn't like this.
It's a safety hazard for people in higher up vehicles (won't see the lights when close)
Your right, thetaillights should be up higher where you can see them. I'm not liking them either.
Yes, while I love Hyundai products I couldn't agree more, this is a very bad design choice, it shouldn't even be legal.
@@judypopoff1819 are you one of them reckless drivers?
Just bought mine last night. SEL trim. Comes in at the end on January and can’t wait.
I want one! I just hate how Kia / Hyundai put the rear turn signals in the bumper it’s a terrible design
I know. It’s almost a deal breaker
Poor dealership experience also a knock against Kia and Hyandai. Hopefully improves over time.
If you live in California or Washington, you don't know how to use a turn signal anyway.
@@James-il3tq the dealer experience can be overlooked easily
Hyundai could have the poorest dealer experience but still produce better quality and better put together vehicles than Toyota
You are entitled with your own opinion….if you only follow the right distancing in between cars the rear turn signal is doing right on its purpose…..
Here in Iceland, The Rav4 Prime(plug in) in top trim costs 76.000 dollars
The Tucson(plug in) in top trim costs 52.300 dollars.
Absolutely no brainer IMO
These prices are insane ...... In USA the Limited Tucson is 37k
Fuckin a', the RAV4 Prime in the USA is 38k. Feds are offering a $7,500 tax rebate so it drops to $30.5k
*I love the 2022 Hyundai Tucson hybrid! It’s very nice*
I just bought one n line premium hybrid it is one of the best cars i ever drove .
@Svet enjoy it
I would recommend the hybrid especially if you live at a higher elevation.
Can’t wait to see the Kia version of this. They are selling like crazy. The Hyundai and Kia twins will be the kings of the segment.
I Love the Hybrid Blue Version & Blue Exterior and Black cloth interior
Would absolutely take this over the RAV4 Hybrid. It makes the Toyota look so dated and ancient. More premium feeling as well.
RAV4 is dated put reliability and resale value wins every time.
Shafin this is a bullshit comment. The RAV4 over a piece of shite Hyundai any day
I hear you there, The Hyundai Tucson also makes Honda CRV look ancient! I tested both vehicles and actually owned a CRV 10yrs ago, and still no updated changes that make me swoon! And for Hyundai to back up their powerful warranty on a Hybrid?! Hyundai wins again!!
The front end reminds me of a first generation Ford Edge.
Yup. Even though people think this design is Innovative 💡
Holy crap I was thinking that same thing!

How was the road and wind noise at 70-80+ mph? Hoping for a hushed cabin at big highway speeds.
Loud... I think that's why they have the nature sounds included... Or for me I'm always bumping some great tunes lol
Imagine if they gave this true N lime treatment. But paired the hybrid system
You get the power (likely would be around 300HP) and good fuel efficiency.
If only people could get their hands on them. I ordered one and was told 60-90 days. That window expired and the dealer can't even tell me if the factory has STARTED building the car, let alone when it will arrive! It could be next month or it could be next year...
I personally love the shimmering silver color. It looks the best in bright sunlight or at night with street lights hitting it.
Nope... Lots of wind noise probably from the sunroof and road noise... Man listen... I got my music going... It doesn't bother me lol
Tsk, Tsk. At 10:17 He RUNS a STOP Sign. "Looks" great, that means very expensive if it needs body work, like from a sideswipe. Seems to have a thing for Quick Get Up and Go. At 15:02 He Rolls through another stop sign.
I picked up a first gen 2008 Hyundai Tucson for $5k. Great SUV for the money.
Great video as always. I have been checking dealerships in the MD, VA area and there very few if any to shop. If you find one, forget having a color choice.
Style and substance "meet". No "s" needed. OK, now I can enjoy another great review :)
I just bought a 2022 limited hybrid cant wait till it comes in and I get to drive it
So it mimics a haunted house to let pedestrians know your coming through.
Quite a few Hyundai and Kia engines caught fire recently. The factories did not handle the recalls very well. Toyota Venza is on my top hybrid list.
The better buy. The Venza will outlast this Hyundai by long shot
I'd rather wait for the 2023 Kia Sportage I'm pretty sure they will share the same power train but Kia is far more striking to me.

I want to get back into a pickup(4x4) from my Ford Fusion, but I'm thinking about instead, going with this and keeping a 5x10 trailer around to tow behind it when I need to do pickup stuff. My 45-mile one way commute would be much less painful in this, I believe.
We put a deposit down in mid October and it's FINALLY due to arrive next week! I can't wait! We ordered crystsl white, but I kinda wish we ordered the Amazon Grey. Oh well, it'll still look good.
Jennifer, did it finally arrive? Any regrets?
The one thing I was worried about, after reading many complaints, was the touch screen. I don't mind it at all, amd find it intuitive to use. Did you buy one/are you waiting for one?
@@jenniferreid7652 Considering one in the future, maybe within 2 years or so depending on what happens with my 2018 Honda Civic. Long story short is there's a known AC issue but Honda isn't being totally honest with the issue. Toyota is boring so looking at Hyundai (again as I had a Tucson many years ago) as they have advanced so much in the past few years. Your comment about mileage not being as good as hoped isn't the first time I've heard such a comment. I'm also looking hybrid to somewhat protect myself against (constantly) rising gas prices due to so many reasons. How do you like the tech in the vehicle?
Sofyan...broke the law. He didn't make a complete stop at 15:02 into the post!! Lol
I ordered a 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid Limited earlier today. Paid a little extra, but you just can't find them.
Power and economy! Normally you have to sacrifice something, I'm very impressed. That being said I don't want to be a beta tester I'll wait for the 2023 model or 2024 for them bugs be gone.
Very nice. Great presentation. I'm intrigued by the new Tucson.
Well done video and you speak very well and to the most important points. I was thinking about getting one and now your video has convinced me this is the one to get.....
The limited Tucson color choices (both in and out) are disappointing.
agree
Thoughts on the reported very loud noise when the hybrid is put into reverse (for pedestrian alert)? I have read many people having buyer's remorse because of how loud that sound is and others walking away from the car because of it.
Soon you will have to tolerate that noise on ALL HEV's, PHEV's and even Teslas! *_NHSTA rules deadline was later moved to September 1st, 2020. However, a group representing a number of major automakers, including General Motors, Toyota, and Volkswagen, petitioned the NHTSA to extend the deadline by another year to 2021. In response, the NHTSA extended the compliance deadline six months until March 1st, citing delays stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic as justification._* BTC
The loud noise is much better than backing up into or running over a kid.
Cover it like I did and a bunch of people.... Much better. The blogs tell the story.
I cannot understand how the 2022 Tucson has more cargo space than the 2022 Santa Fe.
How are the headlights at night? Some are complaining that they're inadequate and faulting the overhanging body part above them.
@@James-il3tq that is what we are leaning toward. My 06 4Runner is still running strong but the wife wants something smaller

When I look at 0-60 times online, they vary from 7.1 to 8 seconds. Either your timer is off or the Tucson is quicker than reported!
After doing a ton of research, I've kinda decided to use ranges (0-60 in xx to xx seconds depending) since there isn't a consistent number for any car afaik.
how do you enable the feature that when you get in the car and tap on the brake and it switches from park and starts?
