The scariest thing about this show is that I was a teen in 1999 meaning I’m old enough to be one of these girls mothers and I’ve never felt my own mortality more keenly than I do right now. 😭
As I remember, Aria and Ezra tried to have a baby but they weren't able to and after a while, they were contemplating adoption so, I guess that's why. But yeah...there were better options
You should watch Pretty Little Liars The Perfectionists !!! Alison is one of the main characters in it and it addresses her relationship with Emily and they have kids :)
I was honestly SO heartbroken when I learned Aria was adopting the baby with Ezra. Deep down I hoped that she’d eventually realize how badly she was groomed and manipulated by this man, but no, not only are they still happily married-He owns a fucking bookstore and ends up adopting a baby with his teenage bride. Words can’t describe the disappointment, it honestly soured the ending for me so much.
as a victim of SA I'm really sick of modern shows and movies deciding to just throw sexual assault at their female characters as some kind of character trait and attempting to write some half-baked feminist message into it.
They spent the whole show advocating for SA survivors, talked about grooming and were actively against it until... Imogen's baby is adopted by Aria and Ezra. Way to backtrack every progress lmao
... _WERE_ they *really* all *_that_* actively against it, though?? I mean .. they didn't exactly handle the situation with Tabby's boss as if they were squarely against it. 👀 🤷♀️🤷♀️ But, also, Ezria was actually the most ironically wholesome couple and a huge fan favorite-right up until the later season retconned a bunch of shite into it that never should have been added just for the drama.
@Booper Dooper I said _ironically_ wholesome. Her age made it questionable-but their actual relationship with each other was otherwise relatively healthy, if he had been younger OR if she had been a legal adult[ and had not began their relationship /under false pretenses /with a lie]; particularly, compared to many of the other relationships that happened on that tv show. (My words were chosen quite intentionally, although leaving an S off at the end of 'later seasons' was accidental.) The fact that she was above the legal age of consent and was in fact consenting, as well as actively deceived him about her age, might not make a difference to you(and that's fair enough either way)-but it would make a difference legally[ if the case ever were to actually be tried in court], and it makes a difference psychologically or morally-speaking as well. (Statutory Rape is not the same offense as Child Molestation, for a legitimate reason; and a teen might not be an adult yet, but they are also not still a child either. Teens ARE at a completely different stage of overall ability for comprehension and brain/body development than a child is, even though they are not quite on the same level as what a fully-fledged adult is either, and that is relevant and does matter somewhat in general.) It was always complicated and messy and unfortunate, and understandably not for everyone, but it wasn't originally quite so completely and totally creepy. The Ezra/Alison reveal occurred at the beginning of the second half of the 4th season, the reveal that he knew exactly who Aria was even when they first met happened at the very end of the second half of season 4. (The entire tv series was 7 seasons long.) That's a little further than just halfway through the tv series-especially when considering the fact that the PLL tv series always only aired half of a season in one stretch of time, with a minimum of 4 months between when the first half of a season finished airing and when the second half of that season would start. And only the tv show's writers' room knows if the second half of a season was even planned ahead for at the same time as the first half was written or was not even thought up at all until later on; but it is at the very least probably quite unlikely that those twists were already planned way back in the beginning of the tv series, especially since those reveals never even existed at all in the books. If those reveals had never happened in the tv series either, the relationship still would have been questionable and understandably not approved of by everyone, but at least it wouldn't have been completely or totally reprehensible and creepy almost regardless of whether they had even been the same age or not[ like it ended up being after season 4]. (But at least they did actually break up after that[ specifically because of that reason], and did not just immediately get back together again either; because that would have been even worse. But I'm not here arguing over whether they should or shouldn't have continued their relationship after his past involvement with Alison and prior knowledge of Aria's youthful age was revealed at all-I'm just saying, before that information was revealed, their relationship wasn't quite so undebatably despicable[ although individual personal-mileage would of course still vary]. But[, because of that individual personal-mileage], you are absolutely free to disagree.🙂) Ezra gets arrested in book 3, and then released without being convicted of anything, but does lose his job. He moves out of town and is never seen again until Aria contacts him in book 10, but eventually she stops trying to rekindle their relationship together after he has some involvement with some girl other than her. (There were originally only 8 books planned, when the tv series first started-but the popularity of the tv series caused the book series to be extended twice as long than was originally planned.) Which isn't truthfully that much more extreme than what happened in the tv series, at all, really.
@@jaginaiaelectrizs6341 we actually find out he did know who she was, her age, and all. So her "deceiving him" was actually not a thing. That's about when we found out he'd been with Allison when she was even younger than Aria. And that's about where even the most die hard fans gave up on it
I thought the "torturing bullies" thing at the end was so pointless, since none of them did it... so I looked it up! On the subreddit I found out that apparently, they originally had some of the girls actually torture their bullies, but HBO didn't like it. So they ended up cutting it from the show.
I'm glad they didn't have them do it. It's not like A was actually there, actively shocking them or pulling fingernails off their moms or something, if they didn't. Plus, it's nice when characters actually stick to their morals every once in a while-especially after we've already seen them slip and fall before, morally-speaking, and then climb back up again; after a certain point, it just feels undermining to me of any possibility of them actually not just being totally horrible people, despite any claims that they aren't. But it did make it morally incongruous with when they basically intentionally sent A after Chip before, even knowing what had happened to that one jock in the smurf costume. Then again, maybe that's actually what makes it make sense, since they're just constantly in this limbo of being tested to see if they are or aren't "their mothers' daughters" or 'just how far the apples did or didn't really fall from the trees' or whatever the whole entire series. idkk It only seemed pointless to me because it only lasted, like, 5 seconds. And we were rushing to the ending. But the false "falling action"/"resolution" or whatever afterward, before the final 'twist' right before the credits rolled, lasted kind of too long by comparison. I dunno, building things up and then only half-assedly delivering on it or completely deflating it entirely as if it was just red-herring[ but not even done right/well] was kinda this series modus operandi tho, I think. _(Like, there were just a LOTT of things that felt pointless to me , overall. So, by the end, that sort of thing barely even made me blink twice really? 🤷♀️ Loll)_
One of the things I absolutely love about modern movies is that the killers are constantly texting. I can't help but laugh at the idea of A sitting on a tiny uncomfortable stool in, like, a Telus or something and making small talk while they finagle his phone plan and update his new phone.
Wait that was a real corpse in the Waters House?! Someone willingly gave Roberto Aguirre Sacasa an actual corpse? Not only that, he was like “lol this is a fun fact to tell people, not at all a horrifying truth that someone that used to be a living human being is now a literal prop in my 4th edgy teen drama show”. Jesus Christ this man……..
the original pll is fun because you never see A directly, that way it can be anybody under the hood. that’s why everybody loved the mona reveal. by making A be so physically prominent in shots they lost that mystery element and had to go with the “lost sibling” trope.
I mean.. it's not as if the original didn't also utilize the lost sibling trope, repeatedly.😅😅 ..😶 🤦♀️ Lolll (Did everybody love the Mona reveal, though? I can't entirely recall how reception was or not, back when it first happened.) I think the _real_ reason they lost that "mystery" element is because they went slasher/horror genre with it rather than mystery/thriller. Like, it wasn't so much how prominent it was, as I think it was just how they showed us A at all .. basically _before_ they had even been threatened via txt msg at all yet. And the way they showed us what it was all about, _before_ the girls even knew anything, even though it had happened to their mothers and not to them-rather than letting us discover things they did. It kind of answered questions before they were even asked, so-to-speak, which kinda sucked all the suspense out of watching the questions be answered later. But maybe that's just me, quibbling over semantics? idk
Yeah, the second Amanda said her name, I was like, “say what now? And she teaches the dancers like in Phantom? They’d better do something with that.” Also, the point of dancing the lead in Swan Lake is that it’s one dancer, two characters… and it’s not a ballet really done in highschool, so that felt like a reach for “the creepy ballet movie” reference. The Red Shoes would’ve been more interesting narratively
@@DearxMyxSongs it was already weird enough this school in the middle of nowhere had a premier level ballet program so it was extra disappointing they did nothing with it
I think this had a pretty solid middle then fumbled the ending hard which made me retroactively annoyed. A lot of potential and that stuff with Mouse and Steve…
😁 Just so you know that awkward cut to you standing off to a side like it was an abrupt after-thought was PERFECT comedic timing! Adding to the effect that half of you was off camera also helped sell the absurdity of Archie standing by that tree, waiting for Imogen to look, when any kind of obstruction could’ve moved in the way at that distance.
@@BellesView Because, they downplayed how creepy that shite actually was, much like they downplayed how creepy shite with Tabby's boss actually legit was too.
I'm convinced that there was a draft where the A reveal included Kelly working alongside Angela's twin. They were both siblings in abusive overly-religious households who were overlooked in comparison to their siblings, the show introduced Kelly's obsession with having everything Karen had, and it *was* her idea to have Karen up in the rafters in the first place.
It was so weird how Noa has this big dramatic, sad moment where she has to report her mom and we don't find out until two episodes later what happened to her. Like, was the mom fired or arrested? And next time we see Noa, she is just fine, enjoying a party. No mention of her mom at all.
I don’t trust when the internet says things are “good” anymore, I was fooled to watch riverdale, the kissing booth, Purple Hearts etc with the promise of a “good movie/tv series” wtf are people on 💀😭
If it weren't for the incredibly stupid "A" reveal in the ending, I honestly think this show was fine. Better than a reboot of PLL had any right to be. Better than a lot of shit that gets way more success.
Your comment is so true, I didn't even realize how underwhelming it was until reading this! I don't know why but I suspected the principal during spirit week 😭
Knowing they connected this to Riverdale makes me think if they do a S2 that somehow a witch will bring the Principle back to life and that'll be our A because in the first series everyone was A lol.
The mothers all have daughters of the same age, one daughter each, and none of the mothers had any ambitions other than to squeeze out a puppy and live their dreary lives in that little podunk town...so all the mean girls go to the same school...take a breath... Sounds like a mini-Pregnancy Pact thing here.
The moms truly disturbed me actually, out of all the moms Davie might have changed the most. But Corey was strught up Psyco for what she did to her daughter and they just brushed it off? I mean all of the moms were manipulative and not great parents, Sidney scored some points when she straight up tried to beat Wes up, but none of the moms had redeeming qualities. (For me personally) The mothers were their children's true bullies. I hated Chip from the moment I saw him. Totally knew about the nice guy act when I learned about the SA I thought to myself if they would go there and well they did. Also the sherif was murder and they all just sat together at Christmas??? 😂 The show was alright, loved how they incorporated the slasher genre.
Literally my exact same reaction when it was revealed that Aria and Ezra were gonna adopt the baby. Screaming, crying, throwing up all over😭 give it to Hannah or Spencer good lord
The whole thing about Swan Lake.. is that the same person plays both white and black swan... so it's believable that the prince thought the black swan was his lover...
One positive aspect that I liked about the reboot was that they accurately depicted Adult/Teenage relationships as creepy and unsettling, unlike in the parent show. Tabby is rightfully disturbed by Wes' uncomfortable advances towards her, even calling him "Manipulative" in response to Imogen saying that he's cute.
@Ö i hate that when we still have so much regressive, romanticized portrayals of abusive behavior, a singular instance of a show calling out that behavior feels like a victory. thank you for drawing attention to how we shouldn't accept such low standards just because the average portrayal is skewed to below the bare minimum.
Well… on the surrogacy thing it largely depends on where you are. In some places the one giving birth has all the right until they sign them away after the child is born. And a lot of people don’t get the right paperwork done so this is scarily more common than it should be. I even read about a case where a surrogate mom kept the kid, got taken to court, and ended up winning child support from the biological dad.
I couldn't remember if she actually wrote that or not. (Or only in Imogen's later nightmares) Hmm...... Maybe the og A. Waters herself actually did it, and will come back to haunt them all in season 2?? 🙀👀👀
Amanda: “turn of the century” My brain: “they tied this back to the early 1900s?” Amanda: “1999” Me, who was 10 at that time: “ok well I feel attacked”.
🧐 Tabby was wrong, there was no “secret brother no one talks about” in PEOPLE UNDER THE STAIRS. That plot point is more inline with SLEEPAWAY CAMP or the 2006 BLACK CHRISTMAS.
i was kinda mad at how they sort of just dropped mouse's story. like steve had a break down and they saved mouse. what happened to him then? i really wanted more mouse. and nos's random 'football team doing drugs' plot was also very background and amounted to nothing, it just felt lackluster. and kelly also felt like her story was missing somethingthe only story I felt was handled well was the assault, even if I knew it was chip from the psycho episode, the way it was done was really good. and faran also had a completed story which was nice lots of potential, but missed a bit
The group don't all have one daughter, though. The killer was after six daughters from six antagonists who aged into bad parents. The five moms, and one dad. And they clearly wanted a specific daughter from Tom.
I actually surprisingly ended up being entertained by PLL: Original Sin. I honestly liked the new liars characters and their actresses and the concept/storyline of the show. *I will say, I do miss the campiness factor that was more prevalent in the original Pretty Little Liars. (Edit: I have seen a lot of PLL related videos that some people like the campiness factor of the show) *Also, I was glad to see more representation of characters of color and LGBTQ characters compared to the original Pretty Little Liars. *I do agree that the show is trying to redeem different storylines/themes that the original fail to depicted sensitively, so I really appreciate it. *But the ending was a little bit underwhelming for me but overall it was okay. *I do agree there were a couple plot holes/flaws, characters that were underutilized in the story that I wish they could have expanded upon or there were a couple of missed opportunities. And a lot of subplots. It was a entertaining messy tv show. (Also the mom’s sins were brutal.)
Yeah i enjoyed it as well. I don't think it was great, but it was good and way better than i expected. The plot became more interesting as it went on and the charachters were quite likeable for the most part. However, i expected it to be more like pll, in a sense where A was actually utilized better. I know its a different show and i try not to compare it to the OG, but i think that there was literally no need for an A in this show. In the OG, A felt more central and very connected, but i wasnt feeling it here at all. The slasher thing was done well though, despite it being a bit cringy. Also the girls being liars were not carried out well imo. The relationships and the A reveal were are also meh. I hope its gets better if it has a second season, it has potential.
@Mickey Holmes Yes I agree with you. I have seen a lot of other PLL video reviews and it seems like a lot of people liked the campiness aspect of the show.
The thing is... I felt like Original Sin went for _actual_ campiness-whereas, PLL actually wasn't intended[ I don't think] to actually _be_ campy, at all; That was just, legit, the style of the times.
@@jaginaiaelectrizs6341 I see what you mean. I was just stating what other people have said about PLL about the campiness chaos . Like the oddly specific text messages that each of the liars would get from A. For instance, “Call-off your techno boy toy or I tell the cops what you mom keeps in the lasagna box-A. (Yes that’s a real text message from the PLL show) I remember there was an episode where there was a parrot that gave Spencer a phone number. That’s what I mean by campiness chaos.
For something made by Roberto Riverdale it was better than I expected. Some of the girls gave really good performances and I would like to see more from them.
These shows present an interesting conundrum: is it better to have a bad A reveal with a solid motive and reasoning planned out. Or have an "interesting" A reveal with a dumb motive and no well thought out plan on the part of the writers.
before I hit the end of the video (not having seen the show itself) I was speculating that it was like angela's mom who was A doing a kind like revenge thing like "you took my daughter so now ill take yours/make them feel like she did" because that would have made a lot more sense than what actually happens lmao
5:13 omg thank you!! Idk why, but for some reason this just annoyed the hell out of me. Everyone knows who Jordan Peele is and if not, they know his movies cause EVERYONE would talk about them when they come out. Other than that, I completely agree. The show isn’t perfect, but I liked it
So are you telling me this is a show that takes the plots or motives of Scream, friday the 13th, I know what you did last summer, sleepaway camp, black Christmas, terror train, and prom night and sews them all together into a pretty little liars framework?!? That sounds so terribly awfully horrible that it's amazing, I can't even...
I spent half the series trying to figure out where I knew most of these actors from. It always sucks when an actor you love plays a shitty character- Wes is Derek Klena and was in Anastasia on Broadway as Dmitry. The girl who played Karen/Kelly was in Dear Evan Hansen. Mouse’s mom is the voice of Mulan and Jasmine.
Honestly, if they had gone through with the off Karen plot and A was suddenly a good guy accidentally ruining each attempt they would make, it probably would have been a lot more interesting as a play on Pretty Little Liars. Instead we got... whatever this was. As much as I adore Bailee Madison, I can't see her as the charater plot they gave her (her acting was fantastic, it was just the writing.) I mostly remember her from her roles in Snow White (OUAT), the girl version of Max (Wizards of Waverly Place), and Grace (Good Witch) which is my favorite of all of them. This show was.. well a mess.
When you launched I was fully prepared for you to start singing “never ending story”! Also it was a struggle to get through every season after season 3 of the original, I won’t be putting myself through that again 😅
I was actually shocked when I heard the names of who will adopt Imogene’s baby. Also didn’t Ezra go to prison or something??? Or was that in the books?
The show's ending was with Ezra and Aria's wedding. Ezra goes to prison in the books but gets out in the 2nd arc and dated another underage girl after that
I read a thriller book when I was a preteen with a similar "sins of the mothers" idea, but the ghost was trying to kill _all_ of the daughters and granddaughters of the girls who bullied her into dying (I think they threw rocks at her while she was escaping up a tree and she fell), so it was like hundreds of women, and she had already killed some of them when the book started and it was done way better. Getting revenge on a kid for their parents' past is a cool thriller concept if the motive actually makes sense and this one...does not
I know time doesn’t flow like it does in the real world but I will never get over how when Davie dies she somehow was able to draw a bath, video game herself, and have that bath overflow into the hall after what seems like 3 minutes in-world time judging by Karen’s and Imogen’s convo like wtf…
loved SpaceNinja riverdale video, really gave a good insight on the creator's mentality and how little thought and too much cocaine he puts into his works. Great video Amanda, as always
This version of A was kinda weak compared to the previous iteration. Like, he kills people and writes the letter A in capital and in red, which is cool, but where is the element of camp? A in the original was basically a murderous Gossip Girl. She was replacing the girls' cereal with A letters, running them over with cars, and giving them dolls that look like them. Also, I DON'T like that Imogen plans to gives her baby to Predatezra. If they go that route, they BETTER give Ezra the villain arc he deserved to have in season 2.
I was disappointed that Aria and Ezra were adopting Imogen’s baby but after thinking about it more I think it’s to make Archie go after Imogen’s baby because he finds out about Ezra’s grooming Aria and maybe this relationship that was so romanized in the og show will be ripped apart and Imogen will realize that the people she trusted with her baby have a very messed up relationship
I was actually entertained with the show but I went into it with very very low knowing it was going to be bad and with the cringy dialogue about feminism and other important subject you can tell that the riverdale writer had a hand on it, some of the lines could have come out of Veronica's mouth and I wouldn't be surprised. Also, I don't understand why make a show that criticizes grooming only to give a baby to the biggest groomer in the pll universe, it completely undermines the Tabby/creppy boss storyline.
I didn't mind it I liked how darker it was, it was interesting how they decided to reveal A, which made maybe more sense than the other A's the first series had, but it was pretty meh. With that said mind blown it's in the Riverdale Universe lmaoooo does that mean we'll get witches?
i really really wish they didn’t include the part where tabby takes a pic of the guys unclothed in the locker room. i know what her intentions are but it’s still really weird and violated the privacy of all those boys. in the end, none of those boys were the culprit and they had pictures taken of them without their consent.
‘Pretty Little Liars’ was a rite of passage in the 2010s and it was majorly unhinged by the end BUT STILL it shouldn’t be in the same universe as ‘Riverdale’.
I actually enjoyed the show more than I thought I would, which makes me scared for whatever seasons are to come next. It'll either be too good to be true or just settles into another horrible spin off series.
@@wonderlucky1912 same, it reminds me, just a little, of chilling adventures of sabrina which is another work of Roberto, and how the first few seasons were amazing. Yet the more it dragged on, the worse it got. I hope that isn't the case here.
((I kinda don't actually want there to be a second season-I don't want it to have the chance to ruin what little goodwill the first season did surprisingly manage to garner with me in spite of me/itself//everything. 👀))
Thank you so much for articulating my thoughts exactly! Everywhere I look, people are praising the show and I was absolutely shocked at that. It was such a stupid plot, the acting was laughable and the vibe of the show was so inconsistent.
i am sorry but in what world is the OG show being called out for not having LGBT represention, when literally the main characther is gay,and two major ships in the show are LGBT,did we watch the same show?
19:12 when you talk about the janitor screaming. Watch the scene long enough and they play the same "ahhhuaahhhh" sound twice. Also, notice the blood bags are above the heads during the blood drive, thats not how gravity works. Also, I want there to be a season 2, cause i worked on season 1.
Sooo… knowing the travesty that was the OG PLL series ending with the random twin reveal, what the absolute HECK were the writers thinking in having the “A” of the first season - the season that sets the shows precedent by the way - be ANOTHER secret twin. One we literally don’t find out about until HALFWAY THROUGH THE LAST EPISODE. No foreshadowing or anything. I refuse to believe the writers actually thought that would be a good idea.
I actually enjoyed this reboot even more than the original. A slasher series is simply more fun and inventive, there were more girls of colour as the Liars, as opposed to mostly white girls, and the backstory involving the killer targeting the Liars based on their mothers' sins was genuinely compelling. ❣️
What I liked most is the way they sticked together. Faran rubbed me the wrong way in the beginning, but I think out of all the girls her mother was the worst to her.
Honestly I think one of this shows biggest problem was that it wasn't ridiculous enough, like I didn't watch PLL for the dark and evil stuff A did (only sorta), I watched it for the weird-ass storylines and stupid decisions and the wack-ass reasonings. A was also so dull compared to the OG A, a knock-off Micheal Myers is nothing compared to red-coat
I just realised that since the OG PLL takes place In the same universe as Riverdale then that means Aria Montgomery and Katy Keene are doppelgangers👀 Now all i can think about is Aria, Katy and Cheryl sitting in a cafe talking about fashion🤔
I love when she films in that kitchen. It makes me feel like I'm at my best friend parents' house for the holidays debating random stuff over afternoon tea 😌
Great review Amanda. I think the writers expected us to think Karen runs the school because Sheriff Beasley has a lot of power in Millwood. It kinda explains why all the girls were punished without being given the benefit of the doubt.
they needed to just make a new show, because the way they "tied" this show to the original, didn't even fully tie them together. Just have it set somewhere else, and don't have your villain be called 'A', then it's no longer apart of the Pretty Little Liars universe. Honestly the 1 season of 'Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists' is 100 times better than this, because it has the original writers, and some of the old cast just in a new place and story. And out of the 7 seasons of the OG Pretty Little Liars, there was only one time that I correctly guessed the A team members or big A. However with this show, I felt that I immediately knew who the villains were whether it was A, the assaulter, etc.
I appreciate your content for so many reasons but especially because you watch and give break downs of shows and movies I’m interested in but will never give time to watch. And for that we salute you 🫡
the only good thing about this show is that it prompted me to go back and bingewatch the first season of the original PLL as well as Mike's Mic recaps of the entire series
I literally can't get over how similar it is to the Scream TV show... it's so hard to appreciate the show for what it is with the glaringly similar yet worse plot points. Generally, the show was not a bad watch, cliche and predictable but definitely fun. Love to see a cast of mostly women! I wish they leaned more into "big lies" being kept and slowly unraveled like the original PLL. Honestly, a happy medium between PLL and Scream TV show could have been found had they had a better writing team. I guess it'll be a really long time until we get a decent teen show again.... (fingers crossed for that Degrassi reboot!)

Yeah… This was trash but it was fun trash if that makes any sense. Like McDonalds. Pll Original Sin is TV McDonalds. I genuinely wish the original had audio description so I could watch it, but there are so many visual things you need to understand what’s happening lol
@@claral3550 I don’t know if I believe that though. 13 Reasons Why also has a pretty big following but I don’t think very many people would call that top tier television. Also, it's ok to like trash. I hated that Mouse seems to have all this trauma…from ALMOST getting kidnapped? Like…you grabbed a stranger’s hand for five seconds and it scarred you and your parents for life? That confused me
I think the thing that bothers me the most is the fact none of this is actually a mystery, "A" knows exactly who was responsible and just doesnt do anything about it.

But, also, Ezria was actually the most ironically wholesome couple and a huge fan favorite-right up until the later season retconned a bunch of shite into it that never should have been added just for the drama.
LITERALLY!!!!!!
(My words were chosen quite intentionally, although leaving an S off at the end of 'later seasons' was accidental.)
The fact that she was above the legal age of consent and was in fact consenting, as well as actively deceived him about her age, might not make a difference to you(and that's fair enough either way)-but it would make a difference legally[ if the case ever were to actually be tried in court], and it makes a difference psychologically or morally-speaking as well.
But[, because of that individual personal-mileage], you are absolutely free to disagree.🙂)
Ezra gets arrested in book 3, and then released without being convicted of anything, but does lose his job.
Wouldve been better if they let that part in tbh
I would have loved to see that happen.
I wanted to see tabitha torture her rapist why didn't they show it
@@jadecarbo6324 I agree especially Tabby and Noa.
Then again, maybe that's actually what makes it make sense, since they're just constantly in this limbo of being tested to see if they are or aren't "their mothers' daughters" or 'just how far the apples did or didn't really fall from the trees' or whatever the whole entire series. idkk
It only seemed pointless to me because it only lasted, like, 5 seconds.
I have never watched even a minute of PLL but because of Mike's Mic's epic breakdowns of the series I am invested.
I am so glad I’m not alone with this thought! I never had any interest in watching PLL until I watched his nearly 8-hour masterpiece!!
same here lol
I wish he hadn’t gotten paid by hbo max to promote the reboot bc I would LOVE to watch him tear this season to SHREDS
Omg same lmao, i was so happy to see him get such a huge sponsorship but at the same time i was like "fuuuck, he has to be nice" lol@penelopedick7156
What do you expect, RAS to make GOOD, non-self indulgent media?
Wtf
the original pll is fun because you never see A directly, that way it can be anybody under the hood. that’s why everybody loved the mona reveal. by making A be so physically prominent in shots they lost that mystery element and had to go with the “lost sibling” trope.
I mean.. it's not as if the original didn't also utilize the lost sibling trope, repeatedly.😅😅 ..😶 🤦♀️ Lolll
(Did everybody love the Mona reveal, though? I can't entirely recall how reception was or not, back when it first happened.)
I think the _real_ reason they lost that "mystery" element is because they went slasher/horror genre with it rather than mystery/thriller. But maybe that's just me, quibbling over semantics? idk
@@jaginaiaelectrizs6341 no you're right
@@jyjaeskz Thanks 😊
Am I the only one annoyed that they named the dance teacher madame giry (an accomplice in phantom of the opera) and she wasn't an accomplice to A?
Oh dammmnnn good catch. They did a lot of little references, the janitors names were Freddy and Jason
@@DearxMyxSongs it was already weird enough this school in the middle of nowhere had a premier level ballet program so it was extra disappointing they did nothing with it
Ohhh, I thought that was just a reference Amanda threw in there. I haven't seen the show.
you never know. if there’s a second season she might be the next villain lol.
Yeah I wanted to see her mom unleash on Steve. They built up the storyline only to have minimal fallout.
@@BellesView Because, they downplayed how creepy that shite actually was, much like they downplayed how creepy shite with Tabby's boss actually legit was too.
( Not to mention, there was still totally lots of room for stuff with Mouse and the whole her actual biological dad situation too. )
@@jaginaiaelectrizs6341 I agree. Idk why they didn’t fully tackle predatory behavior.
I can agree! I think it had a lot of solid pieces then fumbled the execution
Knowing they connected this to Riverdale makes me think if they do a S2 that somehow a witch will bring the Principle back to life and that'll be our A because in the first series everyone was A lol.
@@kgal1298 I think they’re definitely going to push into something supernatural if they made a point to connect it to Riverdale
I SAID THAT I HATED THE A REVEAL AND GOT DRAGGED 😭😭😭 but tbh it was so underwhelming it just sucked imo
(For me personally)
The mothers were their children's true bullies.
I hated Chip from the moment I saw him. Totally knew about the nice guy act when I learned about the SA I thought to myself if they would go there and well they did.
Also the sherif was murder and they all just sat together at Christmas??? 😂
The show was alright, loved how they incorporated the slasher genre.

Please no lol
Alison does wear a black wig like a certain girl next door we know…
Literally my exact same reaction when it was revealed that Aria and Ezra were gonna adopt the baby.
@@58209 I think you can blame the success of “romance” novels/film series like TWILIGHT, SHADES OF GREY, and 365 DAYS.

I liked how they teased the "twin switch" idea only to go "Nah, not going that far with it" but still entertaingly enough.
The fact that ‘the Riverdale universe’ exists is so deeply disappointing.
I'm still confused about Imogen's mother leaving and A in her blood on a wall, like WTF?!
If she indeed did it herself - just why??
I couldn't remember if she actually wrote that or not. (Or only in Imogen's later nightmares)
Hmm...... Maybe the og A. Waters herself actually did it, and will come back to haunt them all in season 2?? 🙀👀👀

My brain: “they tied this back to the early 1900s?”
Amanda: “1999”
Me, who was 10 at that time: “ok well I feel attacked”.
🧐 Tabby was wrong, there was no “secret brother no one talks about” in PEOPLE UNDER THE STAIRS. That plot point is more inline with SLEEPAWAY CAMP or the 2006 BLACK CHRISTMAS.
To this day, I still have no idea what the original Pretty Little Liars was... about.
i was kinda mad at how they sort of just dropped mouse's story. like steve had a break down and they saved mouse. what happened to him then? i really wanted more mouse.
and nos's random 'football team doing drugs' plot was also very background and amounted to nothing, it just felt lackluster.
and kelly also felt like her story was missing somethingthe only story I felt was handled well was the assault, even if I knew it was chip from the psycho episode, the way it was done was really good. and faran also had a completed story which was nice
lots of potential, but missed a bit
The group don't all have one daughter, though. The killer was after six daughters from six antagonists who aged into bad parents. The five moms, and one dad. And they clearly wanted a specific daughter from Tom.
I actually surprisingly ended up being entertained by PLL: Original Sin. I honestly liked the new liars characters and their actresses and the concept/storyline of the show.
*I will say, I do miss the campiness factor that was more prevalent in the original Pretty Little Liars. (Edit: I have seen a lot of PLL related videos that some people like the campiness factor of the show)
*Also, I was glad to see more representation of characters of color and LGBTQ characters compared to the original Pretty Little Liars.
@Mickey Holmes Exactly!
Man I feel cheated that I didn't get to solve a murder mystery with friends in high school.
before I hit the end of the video (not having seen the show itself) I was speculating that it was like angela's mom who was A doing a kind like revenge thing like "you took my daughter so now ill take yours/make them feel like she did" because that would have made a lot more sense than what actually happens lmao
*hears who the adoptive parents are*
Oooooooo, Mike's Mic is gonna be PISSED.
I think Mike’s Mic did a review on the first few episodes of Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin. I wonder if he will talk about the ending.
I love when Amanda is mad 🤣🤣
The passion of the indignation is strong
When you launched I was fully prepared for you to start singing “never ending story”!
Also it was a struggle to get through every season after season 3 of the original, I won’t be putting myself through that again 😅
I was actually shocked when I heard the names of who will adopt Imogene’s baby.
Also didn’t Ezra go to prison or something??? Or was that in the books?
Ezra only goes to prison in the books if I remember correctly
no. the series ended with ezra and aria's wedding
Getting revenge on a kid for their parents' past is a cool thriller concept if the motive actually makes sense and this one...does not
Riverdale HAS to be in the Days of Our Lives universe with its ridiculousness
Totally agree 😂
I know time doesn’t flow like it does in the real world but I will never get over how when Davie dies she somehow was able to draw a bath, video game herself, and have that bath overflow into the hall after what seems like 3 minutes in-world time judging by Karen’s and Imogen’s convo like wtf…
The fact that Aria and Ezra are adopting the baby at the end makes me so angry I’m shaking. I hate Hate HATE them as a couple. I hate it so much.
The show was good until the final ending. I laughed so hard at the reveal on how absurd it was and the amount of explanation needed.
When Imogen got that text I expected to hear that music you heard from the Original Halloween when Laurie looked out the window and saw Michael
disfigured evil twins are sooo overdone. other than that i was pretty happy with this season.

"It lived up to the lack of expectations" - you are master of words, Amanda
xD
This version of A was kinda weak compared to the previous iteration. Like, he kills people and writes the letter A in capital and in red, which is cool, but where is the element of camp? A in the original was basically a murderous Gossip Girl. She was replacing the girls' cereal with A letters, running them over with cars, and giving them dolls that look like them. Also, I DON'T like that Imogen plans to gives her baby to Predatezra. If they go that route, they BETTER give Ezra the villain arc he deserved to have in season 2.
This! I wanted to watch A send petty messages while also being this omnipresent figure. There was nothing scary or interesting about OS ver of A.
Hi, how're you.?
i really really wish they didn’t include the part where tabby takes a pic of the guys
unclothed in the locker room. i know what her intentions are but it’s still really weird and violated the privacy of all those boys. in the end, none of those boys were the culprit and they had pictures taken of them without their consent.
Yes, I agree with you. I am really scared it’s going to go downhill.
@@wonderlucky1912 same, it reminds me, just a little, of chilling adventures of sabrina which is another work of Roberto, and how the first few seasons were amazing. Yet the more it dragged on, the worse it got. I hope that isn't the case here.

Same
Okay, except .. not letting the parents know their children were being messed with, for most the series, really did seem counterproductive.
The "Whhhat?? NoOoo !!"😂
The editor deserves a raise.
I just realised that since the OG PLL takes place In the same universe as Riverdale then that means Aria Montgomery and Katy Keene are doppelgangers👀 Now all i can think about is Aria, Katy and Cheryl sitting in a cafe talking about fashion🤔
I was very interested in the fake dad thing story line. I’ve never seen something like that and it could have gone so much farther
Wait… if this means that PLL is a part of the Riverdale universe… and Katy Keene is a part of the Riverdale universe… Two Lucy Hales!?
they needed to just make a new show, because the way they "tied" this show to the original, didn't even fully tie them together.
And for that we salute you 🫡
It's also the same universe that Chilling Adventures of Sabrina exists in. Cause Riverdale and Greendale are neighboring towns. 😂😂
the only good thing about this show is that it prompted me to go back and bingewatch the first season of the original PLL as well as Mike's Mic recaps of the entire series

Every time I heard the name Imogen, I'm thinking about Imogen Temult from Critical role played by Laura Bailey
When Amanda whispered “it’s just so stupiiid” I felt that
Watched the first episode, I was intrigued by the story but the CW style of script and acting gave me war flashbacks, never again
wildly appreciate your videos on shows like this cuz god knows im never gonna watch this trash but thanks queen for digging through it for the treasures
The title having me in shambles cause I actually enjoyed the show 😭😭
Literally same, I just got the notification and was shocked. Can't wait to see what she has to say, but so far, what are your opinions on the new show?
@@shay7224 it wasn’t perfect but I actually really enjoyed it. I wouldn’t even be mad if there’s no season 2, i think the show wrapped itself up pretty well. :) what do you think?
Seconded, I'm interested to hear Amanda's thoughts, but I honestly loved this reboot even more than the original!
Ngl I love Amanda's videos but other then the obvious bad movies/shows, I disagree her a lot on reviews haha I haven't watched this reboot yet tho so I got no opinion here.
@@trinaq yes, it was definitely better than I expected!
Gonna be so scared for season 2 because knowing what happened in Riverdale. It's not going to end well.
Ok, from the sounds of things, the only thing this reboot has in common with the books…is the title. Sounds like it missed the mark…big time. I mean, the main characters names aren’t even right!
Tbh I really like it. I like how it takes a darker turn, still will always love the original more.
I actually liked this show it was a very entertaining watch. I’m genuinely hoping for a second season.
Same
I hated it and it was not entertaining to watch. I'm geniunely hoping it gets canceled.
Same, also I’m still not sure that Kelly is actually Kelly 🤷🏼♀️
nobody cares and season 2 is already filmed stay mad along with tjis girl in video lol

I wish I could concentrate on this video but all I can focus on is figuring out where you got that overlook hotel shirt cos I need it
I love your videos and it makes my day when you upload.
Btw that's a massive microphone 🎤 and I couldn't stop looking at it lol
Am I the only one who found the first season of Scream extremely enjoyable? I didn't even know it was so hated 😱
Honestly, this feels like it's exactly my kind of trash. The original show never called to. And then I found out about the dozen or so predatory love interests so, yeah. I might actually watch this. Also, fuck ezria, they are not allowed to have Imogen's baby.
Yeah… This was trash but it was fun trash if that makes any sense. Like McDonalds. Pll Original Sin is TV McDonalds. I genuinely wish the original had audio description so I could watch it, but there are so many visual things you need to understand what’s happening lol
Oh definitely fun trash, until the end, for me
if it was trash it wouldn't be so popular. its fine if you didn't like it. but it definitely wasn't trash if it gained a huge following.
@@claral3550 I don’t know if I believe that though. 13 Reasons Why also has a pretty big following but I don’t think very many people would call that top tier television.
Also, it's ok to like trash. I feel like that's important too. I can recognize that something is deeply flawed and not very good quality while also having fun engaging with it.
So many shows I’ll never watch but get pure joy from seeing Amanda talk about
I hated that Mouse seems to have all this trauma…from ALMOST getting kidnapped? Like…you grabbed a stranger’s hand for five seconds and it scarred you and your parents for life? That confused me
I have to finish the last episode then I’ll watch your video 😊
This just seems like a stupid twisted version of Halloween lmao.
I think the thing that bothers me the most is the fact none of this is actually a mystery, "A" knows exactly who was responsible and just doesnt do anything about it.
