Picked up my Checkpoint SL5 with SRAM electronic shifting from Elite Cycling. After watching your Retul fit video I ended up doing my first professional bike fit with Daniel. Couldn’t be happier! Thanks for the great content!
That's great. Daniel is the man. I never want to ride another bike that isn't set up using the measurements from the fit I got with Daniel. He's good. The checkpoint is a sick bike.
I gotta Domane and had nothing but trouble with the ISO speed. bolts come loose and rattle. Then the seat post slips for us girthier guys. I should have gotten the aluminum version or went with Allied
You know what, I think that's the issue with new technology. The more tech, the more stuff can go wrong. I had an old Specialized Diverge with the original future shock and had issues with it. That's part of the reason I went with the Aspero. No suspension. Less stuff to mess up. Simple.
Own the original Checkpoint SL5 upgraded to Bontrager Pro 3V carbon wheels, Easton carbon bars etc. It's got the adjustable rear dropout. It's a phenomenal bike and still their best, zero issues with the isospeed, it's quick, stable and has plenty of mounts. With upgrades a superb race bike or road bike with 2nd set of wheels Treks hasn't really gone fwd since that bike, just more expensive and way too many models. That and who wants an off road do it all bike with electronic shifting? No GrX mechanical groupsets = FAIL
@chrisgravel7157 that's awesome. And I agree with the electric shifting. I still run mechanical shifting on all my bikes. And the Checkpoint is sick because of how versatile it is. It can be used as a fast bike or used for bike packing.
@TysRides after having this aspero for almost 2 years. I'm going back to the comfort (Diverge) type of gravel. They seem to be built for the heavyweights
What? The max rider weight on this is still 275lbs which is one of the highest weight capacities for a carbon gravel bike out there! How much gear are you riding with? 😂
@LifeCycle1978 yea, and high-level carbon is pretty strong but to each their own. I can understand how some ppl would be warry of carbon. When I first started, I thought I'd always only have aluminum mountain bikes because I didn't want to break the carbon.
But Trek has to do Trek things and raise the level of bike pricing for their bottom dollar. Hence why they're one of my least favorite brands in cycling. So so many better options for less money from smaller companies.
The bike looks awesome but the price insane.
@@bagusla_alhamdulillah agree completely!

@@TysRides Hoping to do the 100k Rutlader in the fall. I turn 60 and would like to do 60 miles. So far the longest ride is 45 miles.
@@mark9328 you can do it. Rutlader is a blast!
I wish we had some Shimano groupsets too in 2025 checkpoint / checkmate lineups but no luck there :(
@MrSpaissi no doubt. They need to offer one with aluminum wheels and GRX group. My bike has GRX and it's great!

Don’t get why they reduce the maximum chainring size from 50/34 to 46/30 on the Gen 3 SL
@ViktorNavotny I'm not sure. Maybe to make gearing more suited for climbing or loaded down bike packing?
That is basically the same due to 10t tear cog on SRAM

Yeah Trek’s pricing is too high- they could do better to compete with Canyon and Lauf and the likes…
Canyon makes junk and is direct to consumer only. Treks prices are decent all things considered
It's too expensive! $8.5K!!!
Trek checking account. It will be empty
Shxt too expensive and only really made for the pro's. Not built for everyday Joe

I weight 90 kg .not everyone weights 50 kg i don't care about carbon i want something safer and affordable
@@robertherrera1546 I understand that! I'm a bigger rider myself.

Trek sucks
@troyhamiltonwhite lol! Wouldn't be my first choice. But that Checkmate looks sick in my opinion. Not for $8,300 though 🤣
♟♟♟♟ 👑 Nice video, well done content. If you ever get to test one out I hope we get a follow up video!
I appreciate that! I'm very interested in that Checkmate. I think it looks awesome! They just need to come out with some more affordable options.
