- Long before the fit really hit the shan with J.K. Rowling torching her reputation and goodwill on Twitter, I had decided that I was done engaging in Harry Potter related media, since The Crimes of Grindelwald turned out to be such a trainwreck. Nevertheless, the Harry Potter media I consumed when I was a kid hit me at just the right time to burn themselves indelibly in my brain forever. So I still have a soft spot for the books, the first few movies and the first three PC games. And I got this one specifically on Christmas in like '01 and it's still a nice bit of comfort gaming for me every once in a while. Plus, the walkthrough of this game I already have on my channel has all sorts of things wrong with it technically, not least among them being the resolution it was recorded in and so I've wanted to redo it for a while now. I'm sure I'll get around to my Chamber of Secrets longplay too eventually for similar reasons. Happy holidays, everyone!

Why is the atmosphere of the castle in this game so much comfier than in games past the third one or in any of the movies?
I think a lot of it is the sound design. Just the ambient noises in every space. The sound of the crackling fire in the Gryffindor common room and elsewhere. Simple stuff, but effective.
The games 1-2-3 were made by a different company but all still owned by ea, and the company’s that made 4-8 turned everything into an dog shooter game, they gave you increased points for head shots and all the spells acted like guns, smg, assault rifles, sniper rifles just spell form and there was basically no atmosphere like the first 3 games, 5/6 came back a little bit but not nearly as good as original
I agree that first 3 were the best, but still 5th game had the most accurate Hogwarts map
@@NenadlPopovic Being accurate just made it boring. There's no platforming, there's lack of secret rooms, beans are not the answer to Mario's coins, and so on. Just 3 lame minigames (dueling, potion-making and Quidditch) and a cinematic walking simulator between them. It's not video gamey enough.

How did you install this game and get it to work ? I have windows 11 and would love to play this game which hearkens back to my treasured childhood !
What took so long to put the dog to sleep? First the slowest head, then the middle one, and then the fastest. First you check which head is which, and then you put them to sleep in the correct order.

I always found it odd that you get to fight Troll near the climax of the game, while in real story it happens at very start of Hogwarts... and grhhhh I couldnt stand these levels with Filch, they gave me headaches
And I could never beat Voldy in this game, for years... when I finally did, I was so sad that I wasn't able to explore castle on my own like you could do in 2nd & 3d 🥹😭
