It’s a good line in isolation because Gwen in this scene kinda comes off like she’s trying to push Peter into doing something that she clearly knows is causing him a lot of emotional anguish before finally conceding to break up. But even then the reason she cites for it are about how this is affecting her specifically without also bringing up how this might also be best for Peter considering what he’s going through.

True. But let’s keep in mind what’s going on when Peter said that. He recently just found out from his dad’s recording what Oscorp was gonna do with his research, essentially exposing how corrupt Oscorp is. I think that warrants a bit more investigating to see if they’re up to anything else. Trying to get into contact with Harry and talking to him about this would be a good place to start.

If there's one thing this version did better than the MCU, it was showing New York. It always felt like a city with real locations such as this one. The MCU used too much green/blue screen and it was detrimental to the feeling of the place imo. The MCU also didn't really have any of Peter swinging from insanely tall buildings and that was sorely missed. I know that Jon Watts wanted to show other things that hadn't been done yet in Spider-Man movies (the ferry, Statue of Liberty etc), but I really missed the sense of the city.

I find it interesting that Gwen points out how this is affecting her without also bringing up how this is affecting Peter as well and not listing that as a reason for why they should end this. If I were Gwen I don’t think I would be making such a push to get someone to stay with me when it’s clearly eating them up inside as is clearly happening to Peter here. She’s right that this isn’t her father’s choice to make, but do you know who does get to make that choice? The person that made the promise to him on his deathbed.
The reason I think she is frustrated is because peter has been breaking up with repeatedly as she mentions the line 'again and again'. The thing is that peter wants to stay with gwen but then he remembers gwen's dad and he breaks up with her again. on any day, any girl would have left him and never returned but she nows that peter needs her. also he ends up being the one stalking her.
also in the imdb trivia and various websites, it is mentioned that the opening truck chase scene, peter's graduation and uptill this scene all takes place 8 months after the events of tasm1 which means in 2013. also it seems like gwen has been going through a lot as well in those 8 months.
plus when gwen clearly breaks, it seems the time has fast forwarded to 2014 where gwen and peter are separated but spiderman is still following her.
Also when gwen said that she was going to london then peter was the one to stop her.
its the bridge scene where peter finally decides he needs gwen.
PS: I might be a little biased towards gwen but what I actually love about gwen is that she
wants to be supportive like her mother was to her father when he was in the police force and she knows that he might not return. she doesn't want peter to die fighting a supervillian and she knows the struggles peter's goes through in his regular life.
I appreciate her for that.
(the years 2013 and 2014 and the timelapse was going to be shown in the movie but was deleted by sony. the time between this break up and their next meet up would have shown mj meeting peter)
This is not the first time Peter has had this talk with her. She already understands how this has been affecting him because they've went through this before, and she never gave up on him. It's just that he can't make up his mind.
She got frustrated because she was fed up of his denying her autonomy. So she ended it on her terms, not his .
@@yoyo17356 and Gwen herself at the end of the movie literally tells Peter that she is independent enough to make her own choices, it’s her decision to put herself in harms way, it’s not up to her dad.
Peter agrees but once again sees her dad, sadly he fails to save her which must be devastating to peter as he was conflicted and distressed about this for at least a year.
He should just remained friends with her and let her go.

Peter predicted the end of the film when Gwen falls to her death in the clock tower and her death haunts him forever. He was right all along and it ended up happening anyway😔

I guarantee you if they kept this "trilogy" going for one more film, people would have said this trilogy was the best. It's the only one brave enough to kill off the love interest.
It would have been good if they did a third movie showing how Gwen’s death affected him, he became vengeful and full of rage.

Gwen, the promise Peter made for your father to keep you safe is for your own good, he’s your dad and it’s his job to protect.
but at what point does a person get to live their own life?
Going back through this duology it's just tragic that Peter constantly worries about getting Gwen killed ever since her father's death and then his greatest failure ends up happening anyway.

0:04 i'm the same way everywhere I go. honestly don't see the point sometimes being outside if it means I have to be with and around people unnecessarily and make conversations for the hell of it. Sometimes I legit like to stay at home 🏡. This scene depicts my exact emotions of not wanting and just turning around.
Actually I don’t understand why Gwen said “I break up with you” to Peter. It looks like Peter was trying to break up with her because he didn’t want anything bad happened to her, and second, he promised her dad that he would stay away from her (which sadly she wanted to stay with him until her tragic death happened)
she mentioned that she had this kind of conversation with Peter before. They decided to go on but then Peter wanted to leave her, and that made her mad and broken

@@Arifumiko Because Peter is overthinking and second guessing about Gwen's safety and hes choosing to take the compulsion to stay away to keep her safe. The main rule to coping with OCD is you have to take a risk and hes choosing not to because Gwen's father died
I can relate to this scene. Something similar just happened to me tonight and it sucks. But even if you like the person a lot you have to learn when to let go when you're hurting each other.

And it’s true that MJ goes after Peter after finding out he’s Spider Man, but she makes it very clear that one of her main reasons for doing that is because she doesn’t want Peter to make himself lonely and miserable when she asks him isn’t it about time someone saved your life? Personally I think it would be cool if we saw a cameo from Eddie Brock in this movie because I know for an absolute fact that were most definitely not going to be getting a third film with Venom in it but we could have at least seen Eddie Brock make a brief appearance in this movie
